Casio is marking a major milestone in its history with the release of the limited-edition Casiotron TRN-50ZE-1A, a tribute to the world’s first digital watch with an automatic calendar. This model is part of a special collection celebrating 50 years since the original Casiotron debuted in 1974. This limited edition watch is now available to buy in Europe.
Classic Design with a Modern Touch
The TRN-50ZE-1A features a sleek black and gold color scheme inspired by the original Casiotron’s bold design. Its stainless steel case and band showcase a blend of hairline and mirror finishes, providing both texture and a polished look. Gold accents on the bezel, logo, and a single link in the band create a refined contrast, merging luxury with heritage.
Modern Features
While the TRN-50ZE-1A draws on its history through design, it also includes modern technology for today’s users like radio-controlled timekeeping via Casio’s Multi-Band 6 technology and Bluetooth connectivity, which enables the watch to sync with a smartphone for automatic time updates. The Casio Watches app provides additional tools like reminders and a phone finder.
Powered by Tough Solar, the watch can operate for up to 11 months on a full charge under regular use and up to 22 months in power-saving mode, making it energy efficient. An LED Super Illuminator backlight also ensures readability in low light.

To celebrate its significance, the TRN-50ZE-1A includes a specially engraved caseback commemorating the 50th anniversary, highlighting Casio’s legacy. The watch comes in eco-friendly packaging, including a cotton pouch for accessories, reflecting modern sustainability.
