HMD Global has quietly rolled out the HMD Arc, a device designed for those seeking an affordable smartphone with essential features. While pricing and availability are yet to be disclosed, the phone’s specs indicate a no-nonsense entry-level option.

HMD Arc specs
The Nokia HMD Arc sticks to the essentials. It features a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display has a teardrop notch, which houses the front camera.

Powered by a Unisoc 9863A processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), the phone is built to handle basic tasks like browsing, social media, and light gaming. It runs Android 14 (Go edition), ensuring smooth performance on entry-level hardware. This stripped-down version of Android offers an efficient user experience, particularly for first-time smartphone users or those transitioning from older devices.
The standout feature of the HMD Arc is its 5000mAh battery, promising extended use over a full day for casual users. However, the 10W charging speed may test the patience of users accustomed to faster-charging technologies.
The dual-camera setup on the back includes a 13MP main sensor and an unspecified secondary sensor. The 5MP front camera caters to basic selfies and video calls, underscoring the phone’s practical intentions rather than a focus on advanced photography.
Despite its affordability, the HMD Arc doesn’t skimp on security. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner and an IP52/IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance enhance its appeal. HMD Global’s promise of two years of security updates is a rare commitment in the budget smartphone segment.
