Luxury gadget maker Caviar has created a special edition Huawei Mate XT made entirely of 18K gold. This phone, weighing nearly 1 kilogram (2.2 lbs), is a very luxurious design and costs a substantial $100,000.

Specifications & Design
Unlike Caviar’s previously announced 24k gold-plated “Gold Dragon” version of the Mate XT, this limited edition phone is a true solid gold creation. The company highlights that this exclusive model is custom-made and unavailable on their website. However, Caviar does offer the 24k gold-plated option for those seeking a (slightly) more affordable taste of luxury.
The 24k version boasts a Gold Dragon design with an intricate texture inspired by the ancient Chinese art of multi-layered steel forging. This design element pays homage to the city of Longquan, where the art originated as early as the 12th century BCE.

It’s important to note the distinction between the bespoke 18k gold model and the 24k gold-plated version available on Caviar’s website. The website model features a gold-plated chassis made from a jewelry alloy, unlike the solid 18k gold construction of the bespoke phone. This difference explains the significant weight and price difference between the two versions.
While Caviar isn’t planning to replicate this specific 18k gold Mate XT, they do offer other 18K gold phone models based on iPhones, suggesting a potential future for similar bespoke creations for Android devices.
This solid gold Huawei Mate XT represents the ultimate expression of luxury in the smartphone world. Whether this phone is a practical choice for everyday use is debatable. However, for those seeking the ultimate status symbol and a piece of technological history, the 18k gold Huawei Mate XT is undeniably a showstopper.
Earlier this year, Caviar also introduced luxurious versions of the Huawei Mate X6 and Mate 70 RS, featuring gold and titanium designs, and launched the most expensive iPhone 16 Pro Max, starting at $301,070.
