Samsung One UI 7 update rollout delay

Samsung has been praised in recent years for its quicker software rollouts, often being the first to deliver the latest OS updates after Google. However, this year has been a major disappointment so far. The brand hasn’t even released the stable One UI 7.0 update to a single Galaxy device.

Samsung Galaxy users have been questioning the significant delay and urging the brand to release the stable One UI 7.0 update. While the exact release timeline still remains unclear, Samsung has now revealed why the One UI 7.0 is delayed.

Samsung’s software chief Sally, in a recent interview on the company’s website, revealed that the brand wanted to make a big leap with One UI 7. The planning itself took two to three years. Here’s what she said:

for One UI 7, we took a slightly different approach. Usually, UI updates are done every year. However, for this version, we wanted to make a big breakthrough, which required careful planning since two to three years before the project started. We wanted to create something more impactful, and this longer preparation time allowed us to make significant improvements.” (machine translated from Indonesian)

The interview doesn’t reveal any details about One UI 7.0 rollout plans. However, thanks to a recent leak, we know when Samsung might begin the stable One UI 7 rollout.

According to the leak, Samsung might release three more One UI 7.0 beta updates to the Galaxy S24 series before the official rollout takes place. One will go live this month, another in March, and one more in April. So, we are not expecting the stable One UI 7.0 update to roll out before April.

If you’re waiting for the One UI 7 update, don’t forget to review the One UI 7.0 eligible devices list and follow this preparation guide to ensure your Samsung Galaxy will be ready to hit the install update as soon as the update arrives.
