OnePlus has announced a major milestone for its Ace 5 series smartphones. According to the brand, the series has achieved over 1 million activations within 70 days of launch, making it the best-selling Ace series model within the same timeframe.
OnePlus Ace 5, 5 Pro: Becomes OnePlus’ fastest-selling Ace series
The OnePlus Ace 5 series debuted in December in China. While the Ace 5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a 6,415mAh battery with 80W charging, the Pro variant features the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and a 6,100mAh battery with 100W charging. The rest of the specifications are identical on both models.
One of the major highlights of the Ace 5 series is the inclusion of a micro-quad curved BOE X2 6.78-inch display that offers a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Designed for high-performance gaming, the Ace 5 lineup offers OnePlus’ self-developed “Storm Game Core” technology, along with an advanced cooling system. It also includes a dedicated eSports Wi-Fi chip and bypass charging for stable gameplay.
On the photography front, the OnePlus Ace 5 series is equipped with a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX906) main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It is fitted with a 16-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
To sum up, the OnePlus Ace 5 is a toned-down version of the OnePlus 13R available in the global market. While the Ace 5 starts at 2,399 Yuan (~$330), the Ace 5 Pro is one of the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite phones, with a starting price of 3,399 Yuan (~$470). Both Ace 5 models are exclusively available in China.
Speculations are rife that OnePlus is working on two Ace-branded phones for the Chinese market. These include the OnePlus Ace 5V with the Dimensity 9350 chip and a 7,000mAh battery and the OnePlus Ace 5S equipped with a 6.83-inch display, the upcoming Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset, and a 7,500mAh battery.
