OnePlus is launching the upcoming Ace 5 Extreme Edition (also known as Ace 5 Ultra) in China on May 27 at 14:30 CST. The company has already been teasing key hardware details on Weibo, and now it has revealed some of the main camera specifications. As per the latest teasers, the device will feature Sony’s IMX906 flagship sensor as its primary camera, supported by advanced image processing algorithms.

The IMX906 is a 50-megapixel sensor with a large 1/1.56-inch size and 4-in-1 pixel binning technology that delivers an effective 2.0μm pixel size. This sensor first debuted with the Honor 100 Pro and has since been used in devices like the Redmi K70 Ultra and OnePlus Ace 5 Pro. It is designed to enhance low-light performance, improve dynamic range, and capture detailed textures with higher accuracy.

OnePlus confirms that the camera system on the Ace 5 Extreme Edition supports features such as Shadow-Free Snapshot, which is designed to reduce motion blur and improve clarity when shooting fast-moving subjects or in mixed lighting. The phone will also support Live Photos for preserving short moments with motion and sound, and a portrait mode enhanced by flagship-level computational algorithms. These algorithms aim to deliver better subject separation, natural lighting, and depth in portrait shots.

While the latest teasers focus on the camera, OnePlus has already confirmed several core hardware features. The Ace 5 Extreme Edition will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+ chipset, built on a 3nm process.

The phone will also include two other chips: a Lingxi touch control chip that supports a 3000Hz touch response rate for precise input, and a G1 Wi-Fi gaming chip aimed at minimizing network latency during online gameplay. OnePlus claims the device can sustain over five hours of continuous gaming while maintaining an average of 118.3 FPS in 1% low frame rate scenarios.

The Ace 5 Extreme Edition features a 6.83-inch flat esports display with a 2800×1272 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. It will launch in Phantom Black, Breeze Blue, and Titanium Blaze color variants. The device will debut alongside the Ace 5 Racing Edition, a slightly more affordable variant aimed at competitive gamers.
