Smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 might come with higher price tags this year.
According to a leak from tipster Digital Chat Station, these new flagship chips will offer AI computing power that is double that of their predecessors. As a result, the tipster claims that phone manufacturers are considering offering 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage to meet the increased demands for AI.
Next Android flagships will have 24GB of RAM
Just a year ago, most brands pulled back from launching 24GB models due to rising memory costs. The short-lived push for oversized memory in smartphones lost momentum as prices climbed and mainstream demand remained limited. That left the market settling around 12GB and 16GB of RAM as the typical maximum.

But the AI hardware race might shift priorities. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 reportedly delivers up to 100 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of AI performance, and we expect something similar from the Dimensity 9500 as well.
As a result, DCS claims that the top five smartphone brands are now preparing to reintroduce premium-tier models with 24GB + 1TB configurations. However, with increased memory, smartphone prices might also see a rise. While the tipster doesn’t explicitly mention pricing, a jump in memory specs will almost certainly lead to higher smartphone prices.
In related news, leaked Geekbench 6 scores give us an early look at just how powerful these chips might be. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 reportedly hits over 4,000 points in single-core tests and surpasses 11,000 in multi-core performance. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 isn’t far behind, scoring over 3,900 in single-core and also breaking past 11,000 in multi-core benchmarks.
