Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that Qualcomm will unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip later this month. He further revealed that Motorola will be one of the brands to launch a phone equipped with the said chipset in the coming days. Without mentioning the name of the device, the tipster has revealed what appears to be the key specs of the alleged X70 Ultra (China) / Edge 70 Ultra (global).
Alleged Motorola Edge 70 Ultra’s key details emerge
In 2023, Motorola launched two Snapdragon 8-series phones, which include the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra and Edge 50 Ultra, both powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Last year, while it launched the Razr 60 Ultra equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, there was no Edge 60 Ultra.
The new leak suggests that the alleged Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, which is expected to launch in 2026, will feature a slim and lightweight design equipped with a 1.5K OLED screen and a periscope telephoto camera. Although the tipster did not specify the name, it appears he could be referring to the Edge 70 Ultra.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is likely to power both the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra and Edge 70 Ultra next year. However, it is likely that among the two phones, only the Edge 70 Ultra may feature a periscope camera like its previous generation. Therefore, it appears that the tipster may be referring to the Edge 70 Ultra.
At present, there is no information about the Edge 70 Ultra, but it is expected to launch sometime in the first half of 2026. Apart from the Edge 70 Ultra, a couple of Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 phones are expected to launch soon in China.
These include the OnePlus Ace 6 Pro Max and Vivo S50 Pro Mini, which are expected to launch later this month. Other phones expected to arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 include the Honor GT 2, Oppo K15 Turbo Pro, iQOO Z11 Turbo series phone, and the alleged Meizu 23.
