Xiaomi’s next big camera-focused flagship seems to be getting closer, and offline stores are already stirring up interest. Several Xiaomi retail locations have reportedly started taking blind pre-orders, hinting that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may arrive earlier than expected.

Xiaomi Home store staffs pushed out messages about a 100 RMB “refundable pre-order” for an upcoming annual imaging flagship. Given Xiaomi’s usual release cycle — and earlier leaks — it’s almost certainly the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
The phone is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and ship with HyperOS 3.0. The global version will also support satellite connectivity, which keeps users connected in remote areas.
Leaker @SmartPikachu recently claimed that a major imaging flagship from “a certain manufacturer” would show up before New Year’s Day, somewhere between December 15 and 25. That lines up almost perfectly with Xiaomi’s new blind pre-order push.

There’s also movement on the accessory side. A new Xiaomi device with the model number 25125PS17S passed China’s 3C certification on November 19. According to @DigitalChatStation, this product is a new professional photography handle — one that also doubles as a power bank. It’s reportedly an exclusive accessory for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and the first to be certified alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The 100 RMB deposit is refundable, a tactic phone makers often use to measure hype before a major launch. And with the 17 Ultra expected to lean even harder into photography, imaging fans seems to have plenty to look forward to.
Satellite support on the international model adds another layer of appeal for travelers and outdoor users. Combine that with the latest Snapdragon flagship and the 17 Ultra looks like a strong year-end flagship.
