Last year, Redmi unveiled the Redmi K Pad as a performance-focused compact tablet. Today, the brand held a launch event in China to unveil multiple devices, including the Redmi K90 Max and the Redmi K Pad 2. Like the previous model, the new tablet keeps a compact form factor, but it arrives with notable upgrades across performance, display, and battery.
Redmi K Pad 2 specifications and features
The Redmi K Pad 2 features an 8.8-inch 3K LCD display with a resolution of 3008 x 1880 pixels and a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR, and offers up to 1100 nits brightness in high brightness mode, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Its 16:10 aspect ratio and high pixel density aim to deliver a sharp and smooth viewing experience, especially for gaming and media consumption.
Powering the tablet is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, built on an advanced process and paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It also includes a Mali-G1 Ultra GPU and MediaTek NPU 990 for AI-related tasks. The device runs on Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0, focusing on better optimisation and cross-device connectivity. Redmi has also included dual X-axis linear motors and dual stereo speakers tuned for immersive audio output.
In terms of optics, the Redmi K Pad 2 carries a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor for video calls and basic photography. The tablet houses a large 9100mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging.
The K Pad 2 also features dual USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The tablet has a slim profile of 6.62mm and weighs 345 grams.
Redmi K Pad 2 price and availability
The Redmi K Pad 2 has arrived in China with a starting price of 3,399 Yuan (~$440) for the 8GB+256GB variant. Its 12GB+256GB and 16GB+512GB version are priced at 3,799 Yuan (~$560) and 4,799 Yuan (~$710), respectively. The tablet comes in colour options such as Space Silver, Electric Purple, and Deep Black.
The previous Redmi K Pad remained exclusive to China, but it was introduced globally as the Xiaomi Pad Mini. A similar strategy could be followed this time, with expectations that the Redmi K Pad 2 may arrive in international markets as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2.
