If you thought Oppo R15 and R15 Plus would be the only upper-midrange smartphones from the company in 1H 2018, then you have been proved wrong. Oppo A3 has just been made official and you can consider it a sort of affordable version of the R15. Indeed, its specs sheet is not so different from the latest Oppo release, and neither is its design. The handset comes with an incredibly high screen-to-body ratio and ultra-narrow bezels on each side.

There is a chin, but it is very thin, and there is also a small notch on the upper part of the front panel which contains the earpiece and the front camera. Oppo A3 measures 156 x 75.3 x 7.8 mm and weighs 159 grams. It has a back with a diamond-like texture. The back cover seems to be made of glass, while the frame is made of aluminum. The display has a size of 6.2 inches with 19:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. On the hardware side, the mid-ranger has an octa-core Helio P60 chipset, which is the most powerful SoC unleashed by MediaTek in 2018.

The device also comes with a satisfying amount of RAM (4 GB) and a massive internal storage of 128 GB. With Oppo A3, you won’t get a dual camera setup, but there is still a decent 16 MP main camera with a bright f/1.8 aperture. The front snapper has a resolution of 8 MP and a f/2.2 aperture. The camera department is surely the biggest disadvantage of the A3 over its older sibling, the R15. The operating system installed is Android 8.1 Oreo customized with Color OS in the 5.0 version. Oppo A3 has been launched in the Chinese market in four hues: Black, Silver, Pink and Red, with a price tag of CNY 2,099 which roughly translates into $332/€374.
