Casio is expanding its Pro Trek lineup with two new watches, the PRG-340SC-2 and PRG-340SC-5, aimed at people who love spending time outdoors. These watches, one in navy and the other in warm beige are designed to help users navigate and keep track of environmental conditions with built-in features like a digital compass, barometer, altimeter, and thermometer. They also have a special dual-layer LCD that shows different types of information at the same time and a bright LED backlight for easier viewing in the dark.
A key aspect of these new models is their focus on being eco-friendly. The bands are made from recycled resin pieces from Casio’s own production leftovers, and the watches’ other parts use bio-based resins, which are better for the environment. This approach not only reduces waste but also adds a unique look to each watch, with a speckled design that stands out.
Both models are solar-powered and can withstand water up to 100 meters deep. They’re also built to work in cold temperatures, down to -10°C. Despite their robust features, these watches are fairly lightweight at 60 grams, making them comfortable for all-day wear during any adventure.
Pricing & availability
These watches are priced at $250 and are currently available for pre-order on Amazon, with shipping set to start on April 1, 2024.
