iQOO has just announced that it is extending the longevity of its flagship smartphone from last year. The iQOO 12 is getting a longer software support cycle with the new extension upgrading the Android updates and security patches by another year. So here are all the details.
iQOO 12 is getting 4 major Android OS updates with 5 years of security patches
The Chinese smartphone maker just announced that it will now extend the Android and security updates by 1 year. To recall, the original support to last till 2028 but it will not last till 2029. This is thanks to 4 guaranteed Android OS updates along with 5 years of security patches. In other words, the iQOO 12 is now in line with the iQOO 13 in terms of longer software support.
In an official statement, the brand stated “At iQOO, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge performance, seamless experiences, and long-term value for our users. This updated policy reflects our dedication to keeping your device secure, up-to-date, and running smoothly for years to come.”
Talking about the smartphone itself, the device is an affordable flagship model that sports a tall 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 3000 nits of peak brightness, and FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, it is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. A large 5,000mAh battery pack powers the iQOO 12, which also supports 120W wired fast charging as well. Other notable features include a 50MP triple camera setup, stereo speakers, glass and aluminum build, in-display fingerprint scanner, Android 14 OS out of the box, and up to 16GB RAM with 1TB storage configurations.
