Design
The most different thing between these two phones is definitely the design. You can notice it immediately by looking at their camera modules. The OnePlus 12 is definitely more original and elegant, with a camera module placed on the left, while its rival has a camera module placed in the middle and with bigger dimensions. Both phones come with very narrow bezels around the display, but the iQOO 12 is actually more compact because it packs a smaller screen. Both phones feature the IP64 certification making them dust resistant and splash resistant, and they are also built with premium materials including a glass back and an aluminum frame.
Display
The display of the OnePlus 12 is actually superior to the one found on the iQOO 12. First of all, it has a higher Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels pixels, that means a higher level of detail. As already mentioned, it also comes with a wider diagonal, 6.82 inches instead of just 6.78 inches. Last but not least, it has a very high peak brightness of 4500 nits. And it supports the Dolby Vision standard. It also comes with a sturdier Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection by Corning. For the rest, it is not so different from the display of its rival, with a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and a centrally-placed punch hole. The iQOO 12 has a better display for gamers since it comes with a higher 144 Hz refresh rate, and this is its only advantage. It is a more compact phone because it has a smaller display, but this does not impact the image quality. It comes with a 6.78-inch diagonal and a 1.5K resolution.
Specs & Software
Both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, currently the best one released by Qualcomm. It is an octa-core chipset built with a 4 nm production process and composed of three different cluster including a Cortex X4 CPU running at a max frequency of 3.3 GHz, five Cortex A720 CPUs running at 3.2 GHz, two Cortex A520 CPUs and an Adreno 750 GPU. Alongside the chipset, the OnePlus 12 offers the highest quantity of RAM: up to 24 GB, paired with 1 TB of UFS 4.0 native storage. The iQOO 12 still comes with an internal storage of up to 1 TB, but the RAM stops at 16 GB. Both handsets run Android 14 out of the box, but with different user interfaces on tow: Funtouch OS or Origin OS for the iQOO, and OxygenOS or ColorOS for the OnePlus.
Camera
Battery
The OnePlus 12 has a bigger battery with a capacity of 5400 mAh and it is the only one with wireless charging, while the iQOO 12’s battery has a 5000 mAh capacity and it charges faster with a power of 120W instead of just 100W.
Price
The iQOO 12 starts from $600 or €550 in Asia, and the OnePlus 12 costs slightly more. Which one would you pick?
