Poco looks to expand product line with its first tablet

Xiaomi, the well-known Chinese electronics company, has made its presence felt in the tablet market with releases under both the Xiaomi and Redmi brands.  Now, a new tablet may be on the horizon, however, this time under the Poco sub-brand.

Recently, a new Poco tablet popped up on the European EEC certification with the product name “Tablet brand POCO model.” So it looks like Poco could be venturing into the tablet market for the first time.

The certification shows the device’s model number as 2405CPCFBG but provides no specific details about its specifications or features.

It’s the first time a Poco-branded tablet has surfaced on any certification platform, so we are short on any details about it. Like most Poco smartphones, the upcoming tablet may be a rebranded model of an existing Xiaomi or Redmi tablet. But that’s just an educated guess on our side.

Rest assured, we’ll keep you posted on new details about the Poco tablet. In the meantime, let’s quickly recap the specifications of Xiaomi’s latest tablet, the Pad 6s Pro.

Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro Specifications

The tablet features a 12.4-inch 3:2 LCD panel that offers a resolution of 3048 x 2032 pixels (3K), 294 PPI, a 144Hz refresh rate, and 12-bit color depth. The screen supports Dolby Vision, 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 900 nits peak brightness level.

On the software front, the product boots HyperOS based on Android 14. It is backed by a 10000mAh battery and supports 120W wired charging.

For optics, the tablet offers a 50MP + 2MP (depth) dual rear camera setup, a 32MP front-facing camera, and six speakers.

Xiaomi also offers a TouchPad Keyboard and Focus Pen for the tablet, but you have to purchase them separately.

Sony Xperia I VI rumored to ditch 21:9 aspect ratio for a more conventional 19.5:9 screen

Sony‘s Xperia smartphones have long held a unique place in the Android ecosystem. These devices consistently boasted a 21:9 aspect ratio, perfect for cinephiles and those who valued a taller screen. However, rumors surrounding the upcoming Xperia 1 VI indicate a significant departure from Sony’s established design language.

According to leaker Zackbuks on Weibo, the Sony Xperia 1 VI looks set to become more conventional in form. That is, the company might ditch its long-favored 21:9 aspect ratio for a more conventional 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

Sony-Xperia-1-VI-Aspect-ratio1

While this shift might disappoint some fans who prefer a taller aspect ratio, it could be a strategic move by Sony to appeal to a broader audience. The 21:9 ratio caters to a specific niche, and a change could mean targeting the masses.

Apart from this, the leak also says the company may decrease the screen resolution from 4K to 2K. However, the overall design of the phone is tipped to be similar to that of its predecessor.

While that’s all the new leak reveals about the Xperia I VI, a previous report suggests that all three cameras on the back of the Xperia 1 VI will feature 48MP Exmor T sensors.

Moreover, it’s rumored that Sony is planning to include the world’s first in-camera digital signature technology in its next-generation Xperia phones. This feature would let users digitally sign photos right into the camera, ensuring their authenticity and preventing tampering.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Aspect ratio

Earlier this week, a leak also shed light on the possible memory configurations of the smartphone. Reportedly the Xperia I VI will be available in 12GB and 16GB RAM configuration.

However, concrete details about the upcoming Sony Xperia VI remain scarce for now. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated on any new developments as they emerge.

Apple may Launch an OLED iPad Air in 2028 and a Foldable iPhone in 2026 as Per Reports

It seems like Apple is getting more and more comfortable with OLED displays on its tablets! Market research predicts a surge in OLED iPad Pros, with shipments exceeding 9 million this year alone. Samsung and LG are gearing up to produce these displays for the upcoming iPad Pro refresh, expected between April and June. That’s mere months from now. But that’s not the most exciting piece of news from this report.

The iPad Air will utilize a single-layer OLED, while the iPad Pro has a double-layer version

Apple isn’t just stopping there. The rumor mill points towards an OLED iPad Air arriving in 2028, boasting a whole different technology compared to the Pro model. Analysts suggest the Air will utilize a single-layer OLED, while the Pro embraces a double-layer version for better performance.

Foldable iPhone

While tablets get a visual upgrade, laptops aren’t left behind. The demand for OLED laptops is projected to soar, since the displays are so much more premium and capable than LCD variants. This market, unlike tablets dominated by Apple, is expected to see wider adoption of OLED technology from various manufacturers seeking to stand out from the crowd.

Looking beyond tablets and laptops, the future might be foldable for Apple too. Analysts predict a 7-8-inch foldable iPhone gracing us in 2026. With a larger foldable canvas, Apple could perfect the technology that’s been under testing by its biggest competitors (Wink, wink – Samsung and Google) who have perfected most aspects of foldable phones. We can expect brighter, clearer visuals and potentially a brand new foldable iPhone – the future of tech is looking bright (literally)!

Meet Huawei’s First-ever 600kW Liquid-cooled Supercharging Station in Turkey

Electric vehicle drivers in Turkey have a whole new reason to celebrate! The country’s first liquid-cooled supercharging station, a collaboration between Enerji SA, Zebra, and Huawei Digital Energy, is now officially open. This supercharger was previously spotted, check out our coverage here. This isn’t your average charging station. Imagine this: you pull into the station, and by the time you finish your favorite beverage, your car is fully charged. That’s the promise of this innovative technology, boasting a speedy “cup of coffee and a full charge” experience.

The ultra-fast charging terminals can handle up to 4 vehicles simultaneously

The powerhouse behind this rapid refuel comes from Huawei. Their 600kW liquid-cooled supercharging host, paired with Zebra’s 500kW ultra-fast charging terminals, can handle up to four vehicles simultaneously. This means significantly reduced waiting times for EV owners on the go.

Huawei Charger

But speed isn’t the only perk. The system prioritizes sustainability. A rooftop photovoltaic system with an optimizer harnesses solar power, and space is reserved for future integration of an energy storage system. The commitment to green energy is further emphasized by EnerjiSA issuing green energy certifications for the electricity used at the station.

This project marks a significant step forward for both Turkey and Huawei. It aligns with Huawei’s ambitious goal of deploying tens of thousands of their ultra-fast charging stations across China in 2024, promoting “high-quality charging wherever there are roads.” With Turkey’s first station a success, could this technology be lighting the way for a future of rapid, eco-friendly EV charging on a global scale? I guess we’ll find out in due time!

Anker’s Latest Launch, the Soundcore Sleep A20 Earbuds are Designed to Improve Your Sleep Quality

Soundcore, the audio brand from Anker Innovations, has announced the launch of their second-generation sleep earbuds, the Sleep A20, in celebration of World Sleep Day. Building on the success of the Sleep A10 earbuds, the A20 promises improved noise isolation, a comfortable fit for side sleepers, and extended battery life.

The earbuds’ design makes it comfortable for side-sleepers too

Unlike some noise-cancelling headphones that struggle with intermittent sounds, the Sleep A20 utilizes a physical design to block out noise. Combined with a library of looping sounds from the Soundcore app, these earbuds primarily mask distractions and put you to sleep.

The Sleep A20 boasts several improvements designed to enhance your sleep experience. A new “twin seal” ear tip design achieves three times better noise reduction than the previous A10 model, effectively blocking out traffic noise or a snoring partner for a quieter sleep. Side sleepers will appreciate the A20’s curved design, which minimizes pressure on the ears and ensures a comfortable fit throughout the night. The soft silicone material further adds to the comfort.

Also, are you usually worried that your alarm will wake up your partner, or even other people in your house? The A20 features a built-in alarm that plays through the earbuds, gently waking you up without disturbing your partner. You can even choose from a variety of sounds for a personalized wake-up experience. The Sleep A20 also tracks your sleep patterns and position throughout the night, offering valuable insights into your sleep quality. And if you misplace your earbuds in the darkness, the A20 can emit an audible alert to help you locate them quickly.

One of the biggest improvements over the previous generation is battery life. The A20 delivers 10 hours of playtime in music mode and a whopping 14 hours in sleep mode. The Soundcore Sleep A20 earbuds will be available for pre-order on Kickstarter starting April 16th in select regions, including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany. Early backers can enjoy discounts of up to 40%. Wider availability through Amazon and other retailers is expected by the end of May, priced at $149.99.

Huawei’s Ultrasonic Fingerprint Tech Proven Original, Not Stolen

The Huawei Mate 60 series has truly risen from its ashes. The company is showing significant growth in the smartphone market, particularly in China but also in many other countries, even surpassing major competitors like the iPhone 15 series. However, while the technologies used in this phone contribute positively to sales, they also lead to some legal issues.

For instance, we’ve previously discussed the troubles Huawei has faced with the US government. However, now it seems Huawei’s alleged legal dispute involves another Chinese technology company, or at least we thought so. Here are the details…

Huawei Ultrasonic Fingerprint Innovation: Allegations Disproven

Recent reports suggest potential issues between Huawei and Huiding. Huawei has been actively developing in-house technologies to reduce external dependencies. One such innovation is their ultrasonic fingerprint reader placed under the screen. However, independent development doesn’t preclude potential intellectual property conflicts. Huawei faces allegations that it may have infringed on Huiding’s copyrights in this technology.

However, like many claims circulating online, this particular one proved false. While Huawei is indeed producing its own ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensors, experts stress that accusations of patent infringement against Huiding are overblown. Additionally, the company has developed its own algorithm schemes for both optical and capacitive fingerprint readers.

Huawei first started using ultrasonic fingerprint technology in its Mate 20 Pro model in 2019. However, the R&D process goes much further back. Based on all of this, it is reasonable to assume that the company has sufficient experience in this field and does not need to infringe on any company’s patents.

The listing also reveals 16GB RAM onboard but we can expect more options at launch. The foldable phone will ship with Android 14 OS out of the box.

In the Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, the Vivo X Fold 3 scores 2,008 and 5,490 points respectively. The benchmarking database does not reveal any additional details of the device.

The Mix Flip will likely be accompanied by the Mix Fold 4. Xiaomi and Honor have only launched book-style foldable phones compared to Samsung, OPPO, Vivo, and Huawei which offer both clamshell and horizontal folding phones. As per DCS, the Mix Fold 4 will be extremely thin and lightweight. It is tipped to have a 50MP quad-camera setup including a periscope lens.

Both the Xiaomi Mix Flip and Mix Fold 4 are rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Xiaomi has yet to share anything official about the existence of Mix Flip and Mix Fold 4. We should expect more details to crop in the near future.

Here are the details…

Honor Magic 6 RSR Specs Leaked by Digital Chat Station

When it comes to smartphones, one of the first leaksters that comes to mind is Digital Chat Station. Most recently, the leakster shared new information about the Honor Magic 6 RSR. According to DCS, the phone’s screen will be 6.8 inches in size with a resolution of 2800×1280 pixels. The screen will also boast a 120Hz refresh rate. However, don’t let the 120Hz deceive you it will support variable screen speeds thanks to LTPO OLED technology, which provides power saving benefits on stable images.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR will also make a name for itself with its camera features. The phone will come equipped with a 50MP H9800 (OV50K) sensor, likely using Light Fusion Imaging Converter technology, which means it will particularly excel in photography. Additionally, it boasts a billion-pixel outsole periscope lens that supports 100x digital zoom, meeting the needs of users who require exceptional zoom capabilities.

Of course, the processor also plays a significant role in performance, and in this regard, Honor doesn’t disappoint – it uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In line with the standards of 2024, this phone is expected to deliver powerhouse performance with 24 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage capacity. This fits the profile of a true flagship device. On the battery side, it supports a massive 5600 mAh capacity with 80W wired and 66W wireless charging. The phone is also expected to be impressively thin at 8.9mm and weigh 237g. Of course, we’ll have to wait until March 18th to confirm these exciting specifications.
