In January, several new smartphones are expected to enter the Chinese market, and the Redmi Turbo 5 series is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about launches. A fresh leak has now offered clearer insight into the chipsets likely to power the Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Pro, setting the stage for what could be a major performance refresh.
Redmi Turbo 5 series chipset details leak online

According to a Weibo tipster, the Redmi Turbo 5 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor, while the higher-end Turbo 5 Pro is expected to feature the Dimensity 9500e chipset. Both processors are yet to be officially announced, but they are believed to debut in the next few days. To recall, the Redmi Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro were powered by the Dimensity 8400 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipsets, respectively.
The Dimensity 8500 is tipped to be manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process and could reach clock speeds of up to 3.4GHz. Meanwhile, the Dimensity 9500e is said to be built on a more advanced 3nm process, with a higher peak frequency of around 3.73GHz and an upgraded GPU.
Beyond performance upgrades, both phones are expected to feature 1.5K LTPS OLED displays and a premium metal frame design. Reports suggest that the two models may also arrive with ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, further positioning them above their predecessors in terms of build and security features.
Battery capacity appears to be a major focus for the Redmi Turbo 5 lineup. The Turbo 5 Pro is widely rumoured to house a 9,000mAh battery paired with 100W fast charging. The standard Turbo 5 could feature a slightly smaller 8,000mAh battery while retaining the same charging speed. Both models have reportedly cleared China’s 3C certification, pointing to an imminent launch.
Redmi is expected to introduce the Redmi Turbo 5 series in China either in January or early February, possibly alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Globally, these devices are likely to be rebranded under the Poco lineup, continuing Xiaomi’s established strategy for international markets.
