An earlier leak shows that the flagship F-series model will feature a 6.67-inch OLED display having an FHD+ resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. Design
I think that there is no challenge: the design of the OPPO F21 Pro 5G is more attractive. First of all, it is a thinner and lighter phone. Further, it has elegant flat borders around its punch-hole display. Last but not least, it comes with two RGB ring lights around the cameras that can be used as notification LEDs and charging progress indicators. The handset also comes with the IPX4 certification which makes it splash resistant. The design of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is beautiful and original, but less impressive. The phone is thicker and heavier, but its front glass is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, so it should be more resistant.
Display
Both these phones are equipped with good AMOLED displays which are able to show brilliant colors as well as deep blacks. The diagonals of these displays are exactly the same: 6.43 inches, with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G wins the comparison because it comes with a higher 90 Hz refresh rate and it sports the HDR10+ certification improving the image quality on streaming platforms. Last but not least, it has an in-display fingerprint reader, while the fingerprint reader of the OPPO F21 Pro 5G is side-mounted. The speakers are mono, but these phones are equipped with an audio jack.
Specs & Software
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 mobile platform found on the OPPO F21 Pro 5G and the MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset found on the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G are very close in terms of performance, but according to the benchmarks, the Dimensity 900 should be slightly more powerful. Given that the memory configurations are the same, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G wins the hardware comparison. But you should note an important design: this handset ships with Android 11, while its rival runs Android 12 customized by ColorOS 12 out of the box. So the OPPO F21 Pro 5G may get longer software support.
Camera
These phones are both equipped with the same 64 MP main camera, but the OPPO F21 Pro 5G has a brighter focal aperture which should allow for capturing brighter photos in the dark. On the other hand, unlike its opponent, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G adds an 8 MP ultrawide camera which is definitely more important than a brighter focal aperture for the main camera, at least if you need more versatility.
These two phones are equipped with a 4500 mAh battery and, given that the specifications are similar and the processors are built with the same production process, the battery life should be similar. The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G charges quicker thanks to 65W fast charging.
Price
The starting price of the OPPO F21 Pro 5G in India is Rs. 26,999, which roughly translates into $354, while the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G starts from Rs. 23,999 or $314. On the paper, the OnePlus mid-ranger looks superior because it has a better chipset, a 90 Hz display with the HDR10+ certification, an ultrawide camera, and 65W fast charging. Which one would you pick?
OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G vs OPPO F21 Pro 5G: PRO and CONS
Usually, POCO smartphones in the C-series are rebadged versions of the Redmi phones. The POCO C3 that launched last year was a rebrand of the Redmi 9C. The POCO C31 brought a similar design with tweaked specs. This year, we are expected to see the POCO C4 as the successor to the two aforementioned phones and it will likely be a rebadge of the Redmi 10C/Redmi 10. Now, however, a new phone called the POCO C40 has been reported by the folks at XDADevelopers, which appears to not follow the same old rebadge suit.
The upcoming POCO C40 first appeared on the FCC certification website with model number C3QP. To recall, the Redmi 10C carries a similar model number – C3Q. Having said that, the POCO C40 was believed to be just another rebadge. However, it seems that the C40 isn’t actually a rebadge.
Xiaomi Redmi 10C
One of the senior XDA members kacskrzreported that the POCO C40 will not use the Snapdragon 680 chipset of the Redmi 10C, nor will it have a MediaTek or UNISOC chipset. Instead, the C40 is said to pack an entry-level chipset called the JR510.
To those unaware, the JR510 is a chipset made by China’s JLQ technology. Currently, this chipset is powered by entry-level phones made by Treswave like the TW501, TW104, and TW502. Xiaomi choosing this chipset for its sub-brand’s POCO C40 will be an uncanny choice.
Moreover, the POCO C40 was spotted on the Geekbench database with the codename “frost”. However, the phone is yet to pass the test on the platform. In addition to this, kacskrz also spotted a mention of “MIUI GO”, hinting at a lite version of the MIUI software skin. As of now, it is unclear whether the MIUI GO will work on the Android Go OS or if it will just be a software skin for the regular Android OS.
As far as its availability is concerned, the smartphone is touted to be available in all markets including the European region. POCO C40’s other specifications and release date still remain a mystery.
Xiaomi has launched a new smartphone under the Redmi brand in Japan. The Redmi Note 10T 5G shares a name with a similar model launched last year in India but the two models are not the same. The new Note 10T is powered by a Qualcomm chipset as against a MediaTek model on last year’s own and it bears a different design.
The new Redmi Note 10T packs a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with support for a 90Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The device features a punch-hole design while at the rear, there is a dual-camera setup arranged in a vertical module at the top left corner of the back panel. The display is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
As stated earlier, the Note 10T is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset which confers on the device 5G connectivity. The phone is capable of mustering download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps and upload speeds up to 660 Mbps. The chipset also comes with support for Wi-Fi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.1. The chipset is paired with 4GB RAM while the base model has 64GB storage expandable via a microSD card slot.
For photography, the Redmi Note 10T 5G packs a 50 MP main camera teaming up with a 2MP depth sensor. The device crams a 5000 mAh battery under the hood and features support for 18W fast charging.
For interface, the Redmi model runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 11 primed to get Android 12 in the near future. As for the price, the Redmi Note 10T is priced at 34,800 JPY (~$276) for the 4GB + 64GB model. There may be other memory configurations but for now, this is the only available model on Xiaomi’s Japanese website. The phone is available in three hues – Black, green and blue.

Duovox has unveiled the Mate Pro camera and it comes loaded with some impressive features. The new camera which is being crowdfunded via Kickstarter is capable of making full-color photos and videos even in total darkness.
The new Douvox Mate Pro camera is a compact camera that is built to replace traditional infra-red night vision devices that output in black and white colors. It is meant for nighttime adventurers, content creators, and any person willing to catch night beauty unfettered. It is capable of taking high-quality shots and videos of very low-light situations. An official specs sheet is lacking at this time but a pre-production sample was presented to PetaPixel.
The Mate Pro night vision camera has dimensions of 11.4cm x 7.6cm x 5.4cm for its width, depth, and height respectively. It has a fixed length, non-removable lens, and the camera is easily tucked away when not in use. A lens cap is however not present in the camera, calling for extra caution in its handling. The camera weighs about 216g and it is front-heavy due to the lens apparatus. A mini tripod is part of the package to provide a sturdy stand for the device. There are six buttons at the top of the Duovox Mate Pro including the power, shutter, and a few shortcut buttons.
The array of camera settings and menu for the Mate Pro can be assessed via its 3-inch touchscreen at the back of the camera. The right side of the camera has a USB-C port and microSD card slot that can accommodate up to a 512GB card. This offers several hours of video and tons of photos saved on the device. The Duovox Mate Pro camera has a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that offers several hours of video activity on a full charge. The settings of the Mate Pro camera contain loads of options and modes that make the device quite versatile.
The signature feature of the Duovox Mate Pro seems to be its night vision capabilities. Its SONY STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor helps to capture very low-light images and videos in full color. The seven-lens camera setup helps to deliver high-quality images and videos of different resolutions and combine them into a single photo. The infra-red filter helps to retain the color fidelity of the shots or videos.
While the original price of the Duovox Mate Pro night vision camera has been put at $1,200, the Kickstarter platform has seen the price reduced to $599 with the first deliveries expected in October 2022. It remains to be seen how the current specs will match the reality when the Mate Pro is released to the market in October. We expect Duovox to keep to the timeline barring any setbacks.

Accessories maker Anker has just released its biggest power station so far and it comes with some decent features. The Anker 757 Powerhouse is a portable power station that offers 1.5kW of power. It has a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery, unlike the common Lithium-ion battery packs.
The Anker 757 Powerhouse is priced at $1,400 and it promises a faster charge even though its battery is heavier than Lithium-ion models. Anker also says that the power station is longer-lasting and substantially safer than Lithium-ion batteries. The Anker 757 Powerhouse weighs up to 20kg but its battery choice (LiFePO4) means that up to 3,000 battery charging cycles are guaranteed. In addition, Anker says the 757 Powerhouse can charge from 0 to 80% within an hour.
The Anker 757 Powerhouse has six AC outlets and it can deliver 100W USB-C charging. It also has four USB-A ports charging at 12W as well as a car lighter socket. The battery can be charged via mains electricity or a 300W triple solar panel setup. However, Anker is yet to release the price of the solar panels which will be sold separately. The Motorola Edge 30 with the codename Dubai, is the little sibling of the already launched Moto Edge 30 Pro which is reflected in its design. The device has curved edges, with the power button and volume rocker on the right side. The back has a triple camera module with lenses protruding from the pill-shaped camera island.
On the front, we get evenly slim bezels all around the display. The display panel also has a centered punch hole for the front camera.
Motorola Edge 30 specifications (rumored)
The Edge 30 will feature a 6.55-inch P-OLED panel that will produce a Full HD+ resolution and a 144hz refresh rate. The smartphone is tipped to come powered with the Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset paired with 6 GB / 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of storage. The device will draw power from a 4,020mAh battery that will carry support for 33W fast charging.
In terms of optics, the Moto Edge 30 may include a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens. The device will run on the Android 12 OS, which will be overlaid with MYUX.
According to Even Blass, the device will likely launch globally before the end of August.
Realme might be planning on launching a new pair of TWS (truly wireless) earbuds in India soon. The new model in question is the Buds Q2s, which was previously launched in China.
According to a PriceBaba report, the Chinese smartphone maker could be planning on releasing its latest wireless earphones during the upcoming launch event of its Realme GT Neo 3 smartphone. For those unaware, the brand has teased the launch of the handset recently, so it won’t arrive as a surprise that the new Buds Q2s also tag along. Notably, the Buds Q2s are the successor to the Buds Q2 that was launched back in 2021, however, the newer model was never officially released outside of the company’s home market of China.
It is highly likely that the variant that launches in India will be identical to the Chinese model. So, the Buds Q2s will still feature the same 10mm audio drivers and will also feature the AI powered Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). The report further adds that the launch of the smartphone and the earbuds could be just mere weeks away.
Talking more about the hearables, the Realme Buds Q2s was launched in China in multiple color options, including Paper White, Paper Green, and Titanium Blue. A notable design aspect was the translucent top of the charging case which adds to its overall appeal. It also comes with Dolby Atmos support, a dedicated 88ms low latency mode, and is powered by a 480mAh battery pack. This enables it to offer a total of 30 hours of audio playback, which can be fast charged via a USB Type C port that enables 3 hour of music playback with just 10 minutes of charging.
Apple is apparently planning on bringing a periscopic telephoto lens sensor to its 2023 iPhone lineup. The brand is rumored to have entered into an agreement with a lens supplier that will make these sensors for its future iPhones, starting from the iPhone 15 series.
According to TheElec, the South Korea based Jahwa Electronics recently announced that it plans to spend over 150 million US Dollars to build a plant that manufactures new OIS (optical image stabilization) actuators. This is notable considering Apple had previously visited the new facilities during the first half of last year. In other words, it is quite likely that the heavy investment arrives as a part of an agreement, which means that the Cupertino based giant will soon be acquiring these new OIS actuators next year.
This timeline puts it in line for the 2023 iPhone series. For those unaware, the iPhone maker typically asks its suppliers to build a dedicated production line that is exclusive for the parts that it sources from them. But, the new site that is planned to be built in Gumi will have to be approved by Apple, and could possibly take a year to complete. The company has been rumored to bring a periscopic telephoto lens for its smartphone for some time now, so it won’t be far fetched to assume that next year’s iPhone 15 might finally be the one to feature this camera technology.
Initial reports had also hinted at the iPhone 14 Pro possibly launching with this sensor. Although, newer reports have hinted otherwise. For those unaware, a periscopic telephoto lens usually allows for further zoom capabilities due to a “folded” telephoto setup inside the smartphone. So, we can expect higher optical and improved hybrid zoom on future iPhone models.
