Earlier today (14th April 2022), the reservations for the OnePlus Ace went live in the company’s home market of China. The smartphone’s launch is just around the corner, and bookings are now open.
The Chinese smartphone maker had just recently confirmed the launch date for the upcoming Ace, which will be announced on April 21 in China. Interestingly, prior to the launch of the device, the founder of the brand, Pete Lau, shared his thoughts regarding the new device. The official claimed that the Ace is the best phone to feature the Dimensity 8100 processor. For those unaware, this chip is based on the 5nm process tech from TSMC and is one of the latest current gen SoCs from MediaTek.
Notably, the Ace model will likely be rebranded as the OnePlus 10R for the Indian market, so they should feature identical specifications. From what we know so far, the Ace will sport a 6.7 inch AMOLED display that has an FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and an in display fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, a large 4,500mAh battery pack will power the device, along with support for a whopping 150W fast charging.
The front is expected to feature a 16 megapixel selfie shooter while the rear consists of a triple camera setup. This will include a 50 megapixel primary sensor. The device will also likely boot Android 12 OS out of the box and offer up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device’s reservations are currently like on major e-commerce websites in China, so stick around as we will be covering the launch event.
Just earlier this week, Motorola had launched a new smartphone, which was the Moto G52 5G. Now, it appears that the company is gearing up to launch another model within the same G series, with leaked official renders showcasing the Moto G 5G (2022) in new colors.
Back in March 2022, we had even reported on the 2022 Moto G 5G’s leaked CAD renders, which offered us a detailed look at the smartphone’s design. Now, new renders have surfaced, which were shared by Appuals and known leakster, Sudhanshu. Looking at the leaked renders, we can see that the upcoming Moto G 5G model will come in two color variants. This includes a Grey and a Mint Green color option.
Furthermore, we can also observe that the new smartphone will feature narrow bezels on the front, but with a noticeable chin on the bottom. It even sports a center aligned punch hole camera as well. On the rear, the device is equipped with a triple camera setup that is vertically stacked on the top left corner of the rear panel. Notably, the fingerprint scanner for this model is housed within the power button, which is situated at the side along with the volume rockers as well.
The back appears to have a textured finish and even features the iconic batwing “M” brand logo of the company. Based on our previous report, the Moto G 5G will sport a 6.6 inch display and is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack. Under the hood, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 SoC is rumored to run the device, with its triple camera setup consisting of a 50 megapixel primary sensor. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stick around for more updates.
Oppo A53 was one of the best budget smartphones released by the company in 2020. It offersa 90Hz refresh rate display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC. The device debuted with Android 10-based ColorOS 7 and was updated to ColorOS 11(Android 11) last year. Now, the firm has started recruiting beta testers for ColorOS 12 update based on Android 12.
OPPO A53
According to the official schedule shared by Oppo, the ColorOS 12 beta program for the Oppo A53 is supposed to kickstart from April 19 in India. However, the company has already started recruiting testers starting today (April 14). The registrations will end on April 19.
In order to participate in the initiative, the device should be on firmware version C.22. To enroll in the program, interested users need to go to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version and follow the on-screen instructions.
Qualified applicants will receive the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 beta update via OTA within 3 working days from the selection. Others may try their luck in the next batch of recruitment if any.
As far as stable release is concerned, Oppo hasn’t revealed the date yet. But it should be out in a month or two. Once that happens, the Oppo A53 will not receive any Android update thereafter.
A new rumor has just surfaced regarding the Apple iPhone 14 series. Apparently, the company’s latest generation of smartphones that will be launching later this year will come with satellite connectivity options for emergency scenarios.
Recently, we had even reported on the Cupertino based giant possibly working on a similar satellite feature for its Apple Watch. The primary reason for the inclusion of this system is to allow users to send messages or reach out to emergency services in cases of an actual emergency. This system will reportedly include an “Emergency Message via Contacts” for sending short messages in areas that do not have cellular signals.
In other words, it appears that the brand is looking to include this feature in its other products as well. Interestingly, the iPhone 13 series was also rumored to come with such technology as well, although, this was skipped on the 2021 iPhone. So, it is entirely possible that we won’t see this feature appear on the iPhone 14 lineup as well. Although, the latest news from Mark Gurman says otherwise.
Through satellite connectivity, users would be able to send text messages or SOS responses via a satellite network to report on accidents, similar to the one on the brand’s smartwatch. All in all, this will just be quite a bit helpful for Apple customers that find themselves stuck in certain worst case scenarios, and potentially even save lives.

Android 12 is the second major software update for the Galaxy M31. As the device is not eligible for Samsung‘s three/four years of OS updates, it will not receive any new Android update hereafter. However, users can expect security updates for around two more years.

Meta, the newly formed parent company of social media giant Facebook, has been trying to break into the hardware market but hasn’t found any major success so far apart from the Oculus VR headsets.
Now, the company is reportedly developing new AR glasses under the name of Project Nazare. As per the report, Meta aims to launch the product by 2024 and the more advanced models will be available in 2026 and 2028.
The report coming from The Verge also reveals that the company has invested billions of dollars in the development of these new AR glasses, which is a part of Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for the metaverse.
The device is also expected to be priced higher than the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset which is currently available at $299. This is likely because of the increased pricing of the materials used in making the AR glasses.
For delivering a true AR experience, it will come with eye-tracking cameras, custom waveguides, and microLED projectors, which apparently cost thousands of dollars. With such costing involved, it appears that the first generation would be a niche product.
As per the report, the device weighs around 100 grams, which is about four times the normal glasses, and has thick black frames. It will apparently have a battery life of just 4 hours and be powered by an included wireless puck that can fit in the pocket.
The report adds that Meta doesn’t have a working wearable prototype of the glasses. This means that even though the company is expected to launch this device by 2024, there could be some changes in the launch timeline.

The over-the-air (OTA) update is currently being rolled out in the select European markets but the update is expected to be soon made available for the Moto G200 5G smartphone users in the United States.
While the expansion of the update rollout for the smartphone to more regions is expected, there’s no official announcement or timeline available regarding the same. It is expected to get released in Latin America and the UK ahead of the US.
This is likely because the non-5G Moto G200, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, is still not available in the United States. It’s noteworthy that mid-range and low-end Moto G30 Pro and Moto G30 launched last year have already received the new Android version update ahead of the G200 5G.

There are indications that Xiaomi India is being investigated by the country’s financial crimes agency on suspicion of foreign exchange (FX) infractions. In furtherance of the ongoing investigation, the former head of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain was allegedly summoned by the financial watchdog.
The investigations relate to whether Xiaomi’s business practices in India conformed with Indian FX regulations. The probe reportedly began in February and Jain is expected to help in the investigation by the Enforcement Directorate. It is unclear whether Jain, who is reportedly in India, came specifically in response to the summons. Manu Kumar Jain is currently a global vice president of Xiaomi with his office domiciled in Dubai.
Sources that are privy to the investigation say the financial crimes watchdog is scrutinizing transactions and the existing business structure between the parent company, Xiaomi in India, and contract manufacturers. It has already collected details from Xiaomi India.
Xiaomi says it is fully compliant with the extant laws governing its business in India. It says it is cooperating with authorities on the investigation. Last December, the offices of Xiaomi were raided on allegations of income tax evasion. The Enforcement Directorate has not put out any official statement relating to the investigation.

Design
The OPPO F21 Pro 5G has a very attractive design, just like most of the OPPO phones out there. First of all, it is very thin and lightweight: its thickness is just 7.5 mm and it weighs just 173 grams. Further, it has an elegant look and two outstanding RGB ring lights around the rear cameras which can be used as notification LEDs. Last but not least, it is more compact than its rival. The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus provides better protection against dust and water thanks to the IP53 certification, but it is a bigger phone and uglier than the OPPO F21 Pro 5G, even though it comes with a glass back.
Display
If your goal is to get the most advanced display, then your best choice is the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus. First of all, it has a wider panel with a diagonal of 6.67 inches. Further, this Super AMOLED panel sporting a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels has a higher 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10 certification, as well as a higher brightness reaching up to 1200 nits at its peak. The OPPO F21 Pro 5G has an AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution as well, but it lacks a high refresh rate and the HDR10 certification, so its image quality should be less impressive. Both the phones have a side-mounted fingerprint reader and the OPPO F21 Pro 5G, as mentioned above, adds two RGB ring lights around the cameras which can be used as notification LEDs.
Specs & Software
The MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G mobile platform found on the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus is superior to the Snapdragon 695 5G chipset found on the OPPO F21 Pro 5G. That is why the Xiaomi mid-ranger wins the hardware comparison. Further, the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus provides a higher amount of internal storage in its most advanced configuration: up to 256 GB instead of just 128 GB. On the other hand, the OPPO F21 Pro 5G runs a more recent Android version: it has Android 12 customized by ColorOS 12, while the Redmi device ships with Android 11.
Camera
The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus is equipped with a superior camera setup. It has a 108 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro camera, as well as a 16 MP selfie snapper. The OPPO F21 Pro 5G comes with an inferior 64 MP main camera and it lacks an ultrawide sensor, which gets replaced by a useless depth sensor.
The OPPO F21 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus are equipped with 4500 mAh batteries, but the OPPO F21 Pro 5G should be able to provide a longer battery life because it has a smaller and more efficient display. The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus charges quicker thanks to 120W fast charging.
Price
The Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus sells for Rs. 20,999 / $275 in the Indian market, while you need Rs. 26,999 / $355 to purchase the OPPO F21 Pro 5G. With the actual prices, the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus wins the comparison thanks to a better display, superior camera, better chipset, and faster charging.
