Apple is expected to launch the next-generation Apple Watch lineup in the coming months along with the iPhone 14 series smartphones. The company is expected to launch a rugged version of the smartwatch along with the Watch Series 8 and Watch SE.
Now, a new report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in the Power On newsletter has revealed the pricing details of the upcoming Apple Watch Pro Rugged Edition.
As per the report, the upcoming rugged version of the Apple Watch will be priced somewhere around $999 or $999, which is similar to the starting price of the Apple iPhone 13 Pro. The company currently has the Watch Edition priced at $849, which is expected to retire after the launch of this rugged version.
Based on the reports so far, the Apple Watch rugged version will come with a 2-inch display and the casing should be 46mm or 47mm. This makes the display on the wearable device about seven percent larger than the rumored screen of 1.9-inch on the Watch Series 8.
The shatter-proof display is expected to offer a screen resolution of 410 x 502 pixels. It will be running the latest watchOS 9 operating system and will come with more options for workout tracking and overall improvements to the system.
Samsung is also working on a high-end smartwatch with a sapphire display and a larger capacity battery, having a titanium body and a temperature sensor. It will be interesting to see which smartwatch among these two takes the top spot.
