China is the World’s Robot Superpower: Installs More Robots Than the Rest of the World Combined

China continues to lead the world in industrial robotics, installing a record 295,000 robots in 2024 alone, which accounts for over half of all global installations. This growth is part of a global increase in industrial robots, with total new installations reaching 542,000 units worldwide, a 9% rise from 2023.

With 2.03 million robots now in operation, China has the largest industrial robot fleet in the world, far ahead of Japan (450,000), the United States (400,000), and South Korea (392,000).

The widespread adoption of robots is helping China maintain high production efficiency in key industries such as automotive manufacturing, electronics assembly, and logistics. These machines handle tasks like welding, heavy material movement, and precise assembly, reducing reliance on human labor for repetitive jobs.

Automation to Counter Population Decline

China’s growing use of robots comes at a time of demographic challenges. In 2024, the country’s population fell by 1.39 million people, contributing to a shrinking workforce. Experts believe that automation is essential to sustain manufacturing output despite fewer workers. Professor Gao Xudong from Tsinghua University notes that while simple and repetitive tasks will increasingly be done by robots, complex and creative work will still rely on human skills.

Looking ahead, China faces a projected shortage of 50 million high-skilled blue-collar workers by 2030, particularly in areas like robot operation, programming, and maintenance. Workforce training is seen as critical to support the next phase of intelligent manufacturing.

Global Leadership in Production and Innovation

China is not just a major consumer of robots; it has also become the world’s largest producer of industrial robots, surpassing Japan in 2024. Its share of global production increased from 25% in 2023 to one-third in 2024. Local manufacturing of key components like motors, sensors, gears, and controllers allows Chinese companies to scale robotics at lower costs. Companies like Xiaomi and BYD operate fully automated “dark factories,” demonstrating China’s growing expertise in smart manufacturing.

The Rise of Humanoid Robots

China is also moving into humanoid robotics. In 2024, Guangdong-based Tiantai Robot received an order for 10,000 humanoid robots, mainly for elderly care services. This marks a shift from research and development to commercial deployment of human-like robots, signaling the next frontier in automation.

Implications for the Global Market

China’s robotics surge highlights a significant gap between it and other nations, especially the United States, which installed only 34,200 robots in 2024. Analysts warn that China’s scale of deployment creates a “flywheel effect,” generating valuable data to refine AI and robotics further. Experts say the U.S. must invest in physical robotics alongside its AI software strengths to remain competitive in global manufacturing.

China’s dominance in industrial robotics reflects a strategic use of automation to offset labor shortages, strengthen manufacturing, and lead innovation. While robot adoption is accelerating, the development of skilled workers remains essential to sustain long-term industrial growth.

Android 16 update is now available for these Motorola phones

Motorola Android 16 update phones list

Motorola has been actively working on bringing Android 16 to its devices. The brand launched the beta program in June for select devices and has recently begun rolling out the stable build of Android 16, featuring more customizations, several new features, and numerous improvements. It was surprising to see Motorola rolling out the stable Android 16 update ahead of some big brands, including OnePlus, Vivo, Nothing, and Xiaomi.

The Edge 60 Pro, released earlier this year, was the company’s first phone to receive the stable Android 16, and then the update gradually expanded to more Edge models and G-series phones. We’ve prepared a list of Motorola devices that are getting the Android 16 update. Review it below to find out if it’s time for you to hit the update button.

These Motorola phones are getting the stable Android 16 update

  • Motorola Edge 60
  • Motorola Edge 60 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 60 Fusion
  • Motorola Edge 50 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
  • Motorola Razr+ (2024)
  • Motorola Moto G (2025)
  • Motorola Moto G Power (2025)
  • Motorola Moto G Stylus (2025)

The list is short as the Android 16 rollout has begun only recently. It will grow as more Motorola phones get the update in the coming days and weeks. We’ll regularly update the list to keep it up-to-date.

The missing pieces in Motorola’s update rollout

While it’s good to see Motorola rolling out the update ahead of many of its peers, the brand still needs to check a few more boxes to establish itself as a reliable brand when it comes to software updates. For example, it doesn’t announce a list of eligible devices for the next major upgrade, and that was also true this year. Therefore, we had to delve deeper into the software support pages to obtain the information. You can look at the list of Android 16 eligible devices here.

Motorola also doesn’t publish a rollout timeline. Therefore, it’s unclear when a device will receive its next major upgrade. It doesn’t even announce when a new device gets the update via any of its social channels. On the plus side, the brand started offering extended OS updates to many smartphones from last year, which was a major step. I wish to see more improvements from Motorola on the software front.

OnePlus 15s Tipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Gigantic Battery, & an Ultra Wide Angle Lens

The upcoming OnePlus 15s could be a game-changer for fans of compact flagships. There have already been leaks regarding the OnePlus 15T, and now, a fresh tip reveals more details regarding the global variant. OnePlus could be bringing an impressive premium small phone in the market soon, so here’s what we know.

This Compact OnePlus Flagship Could be a Game Changer

The Chinese smartphone’s OnePlus 13s successor was just spotted in a fresh leak from @gadgetsdata on X (formerly Twitter). To recall, the OnePlus 13T is the Chinese variant of the OnePlus 13s, and the OnePlus 15s will likely debut as the China exclusive OnePlus 15T. Looking at the tweet, the OnePlus 15s sports a 6.3-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and likely offers a 120Hz refresh rate.

OnePlus 15T Concept Render

While the predecessor only had an optical in-display fingerprint scanner, the newer model will feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the screen. Under the hood, this model will reportedly be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, which is the same chip that will power the OnePlus 15. Another notable upgrade is the massive battery pack that might have a 7,000mAh capacity.

A recent OnePlus 15T listing revealed that the compact flagship will feature a humongous 7,000mAh+ battery, which might be slightly smaller on the OnePlus 15s (like the 13s having a smaller battery than the 13T). The Xiaomi 17 just debuted in China with the same flagship chip and 7,000mAh battery. So the OnePlus 15s could offer an even more impressive battery capacity. But one of the biggest updates is adding an ultra wide angle lens, which was missing on the OnePlus 13T/13s.

Anker Soundcore Nebula P1 hits shelves as the first portable projector with detachable speakers

Anker has launched its latest portable projector, the Soundcore Nebula P1, in the US — and it’s doing something no other compact projector has tried yet. The P1 comes with detachable Bluetooth speakers, letting you set up quick 2.0 surround sound wherever you’re watching. It is now on sale with a launch discount and a bonus accessory pack.

The Nebula P1 is meant to be a more compact and affordable option compared to the Nebula X1. It normally retails for $799, but Anker is running a limited-time offer that brings it down to $719 on its official store and Amazon. The deal also includes a free 100-inch outdoor screen with stand, valued at $169 — a decent bundle for early buyers.

The projector outputs 1080p resolution using a DLP engine, projecting images up to 180 inches wide with a 1.2:1 throw ratio. Brightness is rated at 650 ANSI lumens, which should hold up well indoors or after sunset outdoors. That’s notably higher than Anker’s own Mars 3 Air (400 lumens) or Capsule 3 (300 lumens). The panel covers 124% of the Rec. 709 color gamut, so colors should look rich and natural. It also features auto-focus, auto-keystone correction, and a dual-arm gimbal that tilts up to 130 degrees for quick setup.

The real draw, though, is audio. The two 10W detachable speakers can snap off and connect via Bluetooth, giving you an instant stereo setup with Dolby Audio, up to 85dB loudness, and 65Hz bass response. Each speaker lasts up to 20 hours on its own battery. The projector itself doesn’t include one, so you’ll need a power source or power bank for full portability.

On the software side, the Nebula P1 runs Google TV with Netflix pre-installed, and offers 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, plus HDMI, USB-C, and USB-A ports. It’s also splash-resistant, with IP33 protection for the main body and IP54 for the speakers.

With a mix of flexibility, solid brightness, and a clever new audio setup, the Nebula P1 feels like one of Anker’s most practical projectors yet. For anyone looking for an all-in-one portable setup, this could be a smart pick before the launch promo ends.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra Could Be the Only Flagship with Dual Periscope Telephoto Shooters

Oppo’s next premium smartphone, the Find X9 Ultra, is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious camera phones of 2025. But this year, the company is making its top flagship model more distinct from the rest of the Find X9 series. So here’s what was revealed in this latest leak.

Oppo’s Next Flagship May Lead the Pack with Dual Telephoto Shooters

The fresh leak arrives from known tipster, Digital Chat Station, who shared the latest details on Weibo. In his recent social media post, he claimed that the Find X9 Ultra will be the only model with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. But this won’t be the only feature exclusive to the Find X9 Ultra, as the brand’s next top end flagship rumored to offer a dual periscope telephoto shooter setup on the rear.

Oppo Find X8 Ultra

For those unaware, last year’s Find X8 Ultra also offered a similar setup, but even the Find X8 Pro received the quad cameras with the dual telephoto shooters. While there were some differences in the setup (like a larger sensor for the main and telephoto cameras), both devices offered versatile cameras. However, Oppo’s 2025 Ultra flagship model is standing out more.

The tipster also claimed that the Find X9 Ultra model will house a 200MP main camera, which is in line with one of our recent reports. Around a month ago, the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, Honor Magic 7 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra, and Oppo Find X9 Ultra had their primary cameras revealed, with the Find X9 Ultra getting the 200MP Sony IMX09E (LYT990). These were all the details that were revealed in the leak. For more details regarding the rest of the Find X9 series, you can click here to read a quick roundup.

Google Pixel 9a Price Drop: Great Cameras & 7 Years of Updates for Just $349

Google has just cutdown the price of the Pixel 9a, making it one of the best budget smartphone deals at the moment. Pixels are often known for their long software support, flagship cameras, and hefty price tags, but the Pixel a series brings the successful formula to a more affordable package. But with the latest deal, Google is offering this device with a sizeable discount. So here’s everything you need to know.

Google’s Most Affordable Pixel Just Got Even Cheaper

Back in August 2025, the brand made the Pixel 9a finally sell for under $500. This made it a great deal as a mid range phone, since it offered meaningful upgrades over its predecessor. But now, the latest deal on Amazon and Best Buy in the US lowers its price down even further. The Pixel 9a can be purchased right now with a $150 price slash, which brings the base 128GB model price down to just $349.

Google Pixel 9a

At this price range, the Pixel 9a can be a steal deal. You get a bright OLED display with a 120hz refresh rate, the Pixel 8 series Tensor G4 chipset, and a dual camera setup that might not beat flagship, but is easily one of the best cameras in this price range. Even the battery pack has a sizeable 5,100mAh capacity and you get an IP68 rating for water and dust resistant design.

Google offers up to 7 years of major OS updates with the Pixel 9a, bringing flagship level software support. This deal isn’t limited to a single colorway, so you can choose the device in either Obsidian, Iris, Peony, or Porcelain. Unfortunately, this does not extend to the higher end 256GB variant, since only the Obsidian and Iris variants get the $150 price cut.

ROG Xbox Ally & X Debut in India: Ryzen Z2 Power & Portable Console Experience Starts at Rs 69,990

ASUS has officially launched the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X gaming handhelds in India, bringing high-performance portable gaming to the region. The company just hosted an event where it officially unveiled the handheld gaming consoles, so here’s everything you need to know about their specs, pricing, pre-order details, and more.

ASUS ROG Xbox Ally Series: What do they offer?

With the latest ROG Xbox Ally series, ASUS brings the latest generation of AMD’s custom handheld chip. The base model is equipped with the faster Ryzen Z2 APU, which is coupled with 166GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. Under the hood, the gaming handheld is powered by a sizeable 60Wh battery pack. On the other hand, the higher end ROG Xbox Ally X packs the Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip that is paired with 24GB of RAM, 1TB of SSD storage, and a larger 80Wh battery pack.

On the front, both models sport a 7-inch LCD panel with FHD resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus for protection. The duo also features a microSD card slot for storage expansion, replaceable M.2 2280 SSDs, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and 65W charging. ASUS has improved the ergonomics of these handhelds and improved the overall layout for a better, more comfortable gaming experience. Another major highlight is the impulse triggers on the Xbox Ally X and Hall Effect analog triggers on the vanilla model. The base model weighs just 670 grams, while the Ally X weighs a hefty 715 grams.

What makes them special?

Handheld consoles running on Microsoft’s Windows were initially seen as inferior to other models like the Nintendo Switch series and the Steam Decks. The biggest gripe was with battery life and overall optimizations. But with the ROG Xbox Ally series, ASUS managed to boot the consoles directly with a revamped Xbox full-screen interface layered over Windows 11.

ASUS ROG XBOX ALLY

You even get a dedicated Xbox button that launches Game Bar overlays and console tailored UI experiences. ROG Xbox Ally brings support for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere games, and local Windows games. In other words, you get an Xbox full screen experience. With Microsoft’s handheld Xbox being possibly cancelled, the ROG Xbox Ally series is the closest we get to an actual Xbox portable console.

ASUS also worked with Xbox to minimize background activity and optimize the software to squeeze out more power during gaming, while also improving battery life. Another perk of having the latest AMD Ryzen Z2 chip is the new NPU for AI powered features, like automatic super resolution upscaling and AI generation highlight reels.

Pricing, Pre-Order Benefits, & Availability

The brand new ROG Xbox Ally was just announced for Rs 69,990, while the ROG Xbox Ally X costs an exorbitant Rs 114,990. As of right now, both models are available for pre-orders from the brand’s official website, official ASUS stores, Amazon India, and Vijay Sales. The first 100 customers who pre-order get various benefits like 1 year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and a ROG Slash Sling Bag for free. The wider sale will kick off on 16th October 2025; meanwhile, pre-orders are already live. You can pre-order the ROG Xbox Ally X for just Rs 499, and the ROG Xbox Ally can be reserved for Rs 1,499.

After Chargers, USB Cables Might Be the Next to Go from Smartphone Boxes

Remember when smartphones came with chargers, cables, and even earphones in the box? These good days are long gone, and the retail box for your new smartphone has gotten a lot emptier. But things might be getting even worse soon. A new rumor suggests that USB cables might be the next casualty. So here’s what you need to know.

Smartphone Makers Are Now Ditching USB Cables Too

After charging bricks were quietly phased out in the name of “sustainability,” new reports suggest that USB cables might be the next casualty. One user on the Linus Tech Tips subreddit, who recently purchased the Sony Xperia 10 VII, got a retail box that was devoid of the charging brick and charging cable. Looking at the picture shared by @Brick_Fish, the Xperia 10 VII can be seen with just the basic documentation.

iPhone 15 Slow USB C Cable

This could be an isolated incident or a hint towards a bleak possibility. Keep in mind that Sony isn’t a major player in the smartphone market, only selling its devices in select regions. On the other hand, this has the potential of becoming a new trend in the industry with over smartphone makers making a similar move in a few years. If this does end up happening, brands would likely use the “sustainability” argument once again.

Apple is a great example of this, as it was the first to ditch the charging brick, and even recently removed the USB cables from its AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3. While this would help avoid more electronic garbage making their way to the landfills, customers might opt for cheaper alternatives that won’t last as long, leading to more waste over a longer period.

G-Shock x Evangelion GA-110EVA30-7A Coming to the UK for the Anime’s 30th Anniversary

Casio is bringing the G-Shock x Evangelion GA-110EVA30-7A to the UK. This limited-edition model celebrates 30 years since the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime first aired in 1995. The watch was first revealed in September 2025 for the Japanese market.

G-SHOCK x EVANGELION: GA-110EVA30-7A

The design was created by Ikuto Yamashita, the mechanical designer behind Evangelion. He produced new artwork for this collaboration that captures the look and feel of the series. The GA-110 model, which was also used for the first G-Shock x Evangelion watch in 2010, serves as the base.

EVA Unit-01 is the main design theme. Its horned headgear appears on the short band, its face is on the bezel, and its arm holding the Spear of Longinus stretches from the lower bezel to the long band. Casio used advanced surface-finishing techniques to reproduce Yamashita’s illustrations in detail.

The dial includes more references to the anime. The sub-dial at 9 o’clock represents the Third Angel, Sachiel, while a Y-shaped component reflects the CAUTION motif from the show. The band loop is printed with “NEON GENESIS,” the NERV logo appears at the tip, and a 30th-anniversary emblem is engraved on the case back.

The watch measures 55 × 51.2 × 16.9 mm and weighs 72 g. It has a resin case and band, mineral glass, and water resistance up to 200 meters. It is also shock-resistant and magnetic-resistant. The battery lasts about two years on a CR1220 cell. Features include world time for 29 time zones (48 cities), a 1/1000-second stopwatch, 24-hour countdown timer, five alarms, hourly time signal, amber LED light with auto switch, and full auto-calendar until 2099. Accuracy is ±15 seconds per month. The watch supports 12/24-hour formats.

Pricing & availability

The GA-110EVA30-7A will be priced at £259 in the UK. It is listed as “Available soon” on Casio’s online store, with an email sign-up for launch alerts. As for EU, the watch will be priced at €279. Pre-orders began in Japan on October 1, with general sales starting the following week.

Samsung unveils ISOCELL HP5, a 200MP sensor with 0.5µm pixels & enhanced low-light imaging

Samsung has announced the ISOCELL HP5, a new 200MP (16,384 x 12,288) image sensor featuring the world’s smallest pixel size at just 0.5µm. The sensor is now in mass production and is expected to appear in upcoming flagship smartphones, including the Oppo Find X9 Pro.

Samsung ISOCELL HP5

Samsung ISOCELL HP5 Specifications

The ISOCELL HP5 is designed to improve image quality despite the reduced pixel size. Samsung uses Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) and Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) to increase Full Well Capacity, which helps the sensor capture more light and reduce image noise. The company also applies DTI Center Cut (DCC) technology to improve conversion gain by 150% and reduce random noise by up to 40%.

Samsung has added High Precision Microlenses and High Transmittance anti-reflective coatings to the HP5 to increase light absorption and minimize reflection. The sensor also uses High Sensitivity DTI, which features oxide-based insulation to reduce signal interference and improve color accuracy in low light.

The ISOCELL HP5 supports Samsung’s Tetra²pixel technology, which merges or unmerges pixels based on ambient lighting. It can operate as a 12.5MP sensor at 2.0μm, a 50MP sensor at 1.0μm, or at full 200MP resolution with 0.5μm pixels. This allows better adaptability to different lighting conditions.

Samsung ISOCELL HP5

The sensor supports 2x in-sensor zoom on wide-angle cameras. When paired with a 3x telephoto module, it enables up to 6x zoom without relying heavily on digital cropping. Samsung says this allows more flexibility in camera design.

Samsung also includes Smart ISO Pro and staggered HDR features for improved dynamic range. The HP5 supports 13-bit color depth and can express over 550 billion color combinations. Its AI-based remosaic engine can process full 200MP images in under two seconds.

The ISOCELL HP5 outputs in RAW formats up to 14-bit and supports video capture at up to 8K 30fps and 4K 120fps. It uses an electronic rolling shutter and Super QPD autofocus. The sensor is built on a 1/1.56-inch optical format and supports both D-PHY and C-PHY interfaces.

Samsung expects the ISOCELL HP5 to appear in multiple high-end smartphones launching later this year.
