HMD Global is gearing up to launch a new phone in China. The launch date poster released by the brand reveals that the phone will be made official on Dec. 15. The handset will have a dedicated button that will give single-click access to the health code application. It appears that the company could be launching the Nokia TA-1335 phone that was recently certified by the TENAA authority of China. It is likely to arrive as a C-series phone. Probably, it may debut with the Nokia C1 Plus moniker.
Nokia C1 Plus specifications (Rumored)
The TENAA listing revealed that the Nokia TA-1335 measures 149.1 x 71.2 x 8.75mm and it weighs only 122 grams. The phone is expected to arrive in two colors such as Navy Blue and Champagne.
The handset has a 5.45-inch LCD screen that produces an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is fueled by an unknown 1.4GHz octa-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. It is equipped with large internal storage of 64 GB. It is preinstalled with Android 10 OS. This low-budget phone is likely to run on the lighter Go version of the operating system.
The Nokia TA-1335 has a front-facing camera of 3-megapixel and it has a rear camera of 5-megapixel. On the connectivity front, the device supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and LTE. It is backed by a 2,500mAh battery that is expected to support 5W charging.
The Nokia C3 that debuted in August this year has a dedicated button for accessing the health code app, but the images of the alleged Nokia C1 Plus that it does not have a dedicated hardware key for it. Hence, it appears that one of the volume buttons may double up as the button for accessing the app.
Facebook, like any other major tech company, is no stranger to facing multiple lawsuits at any given moment. However, the recent string of lawsuits from the US federal regulators and more than 45 state prosecutors appears to be a real threat as they seek to break up the company over anti competitive practices.
According to a BBCreport, the lawsuit being faced by the social media giant is accusing the company of taking illegal actions to buy up its rivals to stifle competition. Thus, the officials are also asking the court to consider breaking up the company, which also owns other major social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp as well. Facebook stated that the deals that are under scrutiny now were approved by the regulators years ago.
As per Jennifer Newstead, Facebook general counsel, “The government now wants a do-over, sending a chilling warning to American business that no sale is ever final.” She further added that the company has invested millions into both Instagram and Whatsapp and would “vigorously” fight any attempts to break the company apart. Facebook also said that “Antitrust laws exist to protect consumers and promote innovation, not to punish successful businesses,” however, the government’s arguments seems like “revisionist history.”
At the moment, the lawsuits filed by the different states and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are targeting the company’s 2012 acquisition of Instagram and 2014 purchase of WhatsApp. The lawsuits accuses the company of following the method of “buy or bury” towards any potential rival. This effectively hurts competition as every major or popular platform falls under one major corporation. The officials even brought up the various acts of data collection, citing that users have lost control of their own data to support revenue streams from advertising.
Lenovo’s upcoming tablet has been spotted on the benchmarking platform Geekbench, revealing some of the key specifications. The device, which carries a model number TB-7306F, is said to be called Lenovo Tab M7 (2021).
The Geekbench listing confirms that the device will be running the latest Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box. Further, it adds that the tablet will be powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset.
As for the memory configuration, there’s 2GB RAM but the storage capacity remains unknown. But given that it packs just 2GB RAM, the device is likely to have 32GB of internal storage, with support for expandable storage using a microSD card.
The product has managed to score 144 points in the single-core test while it scored 498 points in the multi-core test. We expect to get more details about the Lenovo Tab M7 (2021) in the coming weeks.
The upcoming tablet will be a successor to the Lenovo Tab M8 which was launched last year with a model number TB-7306F. It features an 8-inch IPS display, offering buyers an option to choose between HD and Full HD+ resolution. It also features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper. Offering 16GB and 32GB storage options, the device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced that the company is acquiring Crunchyroll, an anime streaming service from AT&T and WarnerMedia. Crunchyroll will be a part of Sony’s Funimation. The company has also revealed that the transaction is worth $1.175 billion.
With this acquisition, Funimation will be adding 70 million free members and 3 million paid members of Crunchyroll to its platform. Sony now has significant power over anime content in the United States. Not just this, it also leads to the growth of the company’s influence over Japan’s anime industry.
Commenting about this development, Joanne Waage, General Manager of Crunchyroll, said in a statement: “We are excited to embark on this new journey. Crunchyroll has built a world-class brand with a passionate fan-base… These amazing fans have helped to propel anime into a global phenomenon. Combining the strength of the Crunchyroll brand and the expertise of our global team with Funimation is an exciting prospect and a win for the incredible art form of anime.”
Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra said “Through Funimation and our terrific partners at Aniplex and Sony Music Entertainment Japan, we have a deep understanding of this global artform and are well-positioned to deliver outstanding content to audiences around the world. Together with Crunchyroll, we will create the best possible experience for fans and greater opportunity for creators, producers, and publishers in Japan and elsewhere.”
For those who are unaware, AT&T has purchased Crunchyroll in 2018 as a part of Otter Media from Chernin Group for a sum of around $1 billion. However, the company is now focusing on building up HBO Max.
Sony has been strengthening its position in the anime industry for quite some time now. In 2015, it acquired anime streaming service Wakanim and in 2018, the company bought anime distributor Madman Anime as well as its streaming platform AnimeLab. After acquiring Funimation, it merged all the streaming services under a joint venture between Sony Pictures Television and its production studio Aniplex under the Funimation brand.
Huawei Technologies recently sold off its sub-brand Honor, clearing the way for the company to get access to a lot of components and technologies banned by the United States when it put sanctions on the Chinese giant.
With sanctions out of the way, Honor can now procure smartphone chipsets from Qualcomm. Now, as per the report, both the companies are in advanced talks and are quite close to reaching a deal.
There’s no doubt that both the companies — Huawei and Honor will now compete against each other and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Earlier, Honor CEO Zhao Ming had communicated to the employees that Honor now aims to become the leading smartphone brand in the Chinese market.
Under Huawei, the Honor brand was making budget and mid-range smartphones while the high-end premium offerings were from Huawei under its P-series and Mate-series. But now, Honor will also launch premium devices, likely to be powered by the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, if the deal goes through.
It’s not just the smartphone space where both the companies will be at loggerheads. Zhao Ming has confirmed that Honor will be launching devices other than smartphones but has not revealed much information about this.
Based on the company’s track record, it’s safe to assume that Zhao Ming is talking about launching devices like Smart TVs, Smartwatches, Fitness Bands, and Notebooks under the Honor brand, which the brand already has experience with.
Meanwhile, the brand is getting ready to launch its new V-series smartphones next month. As per the reports, the phones will be powered by MediaTek chipset which the company already has access to. This will mark the first major announcement from the company after splitting into an interdependent brand.
OPPO will be launching the Reno5 series of smartphones today in China. Recent reports have revealed that apart from the Reno5 5Gand Reno5 Pro 5G, the lineup will have a flagship phone called the Reno5 Pro+ 5G. Recent reports have revealed that the model number of the Reno5 Pro+ 5G is PDRM00 / PDRT00. While the specs of the Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G are already known, the exact details of the Reno5 Pro+ 5G have not appeared in recent reports. A fresh leak by Digital Chat Station has revealed all the important specs of the Reno5 Pro+ 5G.
OPPO Reno5 Pro+ 5G specifications
According to the tipster, the Reno5 Pro+ 5G will have a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that will produce a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will be a punch-hole screen with curved edges.
For selfies, it will possess a front camera of 32-megapixel. The back panel of the phone will have a quad-camera setup comprising of Sony IMX766 50-megapixel primary lens, a 16-megapixel ultrawide shooter, a 13-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
As it is already known, the phone will draw power from the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. It will be housing a 4,500mAh battery that will support 65W fast charging. The phone measures 159.9 x 72.5 x 7.99mm and it weighs 184 grams.
A recent leak had claimed that it will be the first mass-produced smartphone to arrive with the electrochromic rear. This innovative tech was first seen on the OnePlus Concept One phone that was announced in January this year. Speculations are rife that the Reno5 Pro+ 5G will go on sale in the coming year. Also, it may not launch in markets outside China.
Earlier this week, it was revealed by a tipster that Redmi will launch at least Snapdragon 888 powered flagship n 2021. One of them could be the Redmi K40 Pro that is expected to replace the Redmi K30 Pro in Q1 2021. A new leak reveals that the Redmi K40 Pro will not have a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera like the predecessor Redmi K20 Pro and K30 Pro phones.
Leakster Sudhanshu Ambhore has claimed that the Redmi K40 Pro’s display will have a selfie camera punch-hole at its upper-left corner. In the past few months, the rumor about Redmi K40 Pro sporting a punch-hole display has been doing rounds on social platforms.
A leak from the past month claimed that the K40 Pro will feature a flat OLED panel and the size of its punch-hole could be 3.7mm. One of the shortcomings of the Redmi K30 Pro was that it only supported a 60Hz refresh rate. It was reported last month that the upcoming Redmi flagship will support a higher refresh rate. Hence, it is likely that the K40 Pro may come with 90Hz, 120Hz, or even 144Hz refresh rate support.
The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform will be at the helm of the device. Also, it is expected to offer a better fast charging experience than its predecessor. It is speculated that the company may announce the Redmi K40 by the end of 2021 or in the beginning of 2021. The phone may feature a 120Hz LCD panel, Dimensity 1000+ chipset, and a 4,500mAh battery.
Recent reports have revealed that India may soon receive a new phone named the Xiaomi Mi 10i. While the moniker is new, it is believed to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G phone that debuted in China last month. The Xiaomi Mi 10i that has a model number of M2007J17I has appeared at the Geekbench benchmarking platform, which indicates that the company could be testing its performance before its official announcement.
The Xiaomi Mi 10i moniker is not explicitly mentioned in the Geekbench listing. It only has the model number M2007J17I and “gauguinpro” codename, which reveals that it is the Indian version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. The handset is most likely driven by the Snapdragon 750G chipset, which is mentioned with its base frequency of 1.80GHz.
The smartphone is running on Android 10 OS and its SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the handset scored 652 and 2004 points, respectively. It was revealed in the previous week that the Xiaomi Mi 10i will land in India in storage models such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is expected to arrive in black, blue, orange/green gradient color. There is no word on its pricing and it is unclear whether the device will go official before the end of the year.
The Xiaomi Mi 10i is expected to house a 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with 120Hz refresh rate support. The handset is likely to feature a 16-megapixel front camera and a 108-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera system. It may house a 4,820mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
Next year’s edition of CES will be a virtual event as the world is still battling with the coronavirus pandemic. The multi-day event will begin on January 11 and run until January 14. Samsung is among the manufacturers that will unveil new products and it has been reported that the focus will be on new TVs.
Samsung MicroLED TV, The Wall, was unveiled at CES 2020
Samsung’s own presentation is scheduled for January 12 and it will be held between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. The electronics giant is expected to announce new 8K OLED TVs and related devices. However, SamMobile reports that Samsung will not announce Quantum Dot OLED TVs as it has no plans to do so next year even though its display arm is the one making the panels.
We expect Samsung will also announce other exciting products aside from TVs. This year’s CES saw the Korean company announce a bunch of interesting products such as Ballie, a cute ball-like companion robot that can control smart appliances and provide personalized care; Samsung NEON which is a virtual avatar that can be customized to perform a variety of functions; and the Galaxy Chromebook.
We have already heard that the Galaxy Chromebook2 is in development, so there is a chance it will be announced at CES 2021. However, what we don’t expect to see is a smartphone, or specifically, the Galaxy S21 series. There are reports that the Galaxy S21 series will launch in mid-January but seeing as that is around the same time CES will be rounding off, it seems unlikely.
The Mi 10T 5G and Mi 10T Pro 5G have landed in Indonesia. The two flagship phones were announced earlier this week and are now available for pre-order.
Prior to the launch, we had thought only the Mi 10T Pro 5G will be announced in the country but surprisingly, the standard version was also unveiled. Both phones are available in a single configuration.
The Mi 10T 5G comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and is available in Black and Silver for a price tag of IDR 5,999,000 (~$426). The Mi 10T Pro 5G comes in the same colors but has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is priced at IDR 6,999,000 (~$497).
The two phones have a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a punch hole at the top left corner of the screen for a 20MP selfie camera. You get a Snapdragon 865 processor that draws power from a 5000mAh battery in both devices.
Where they differ is in the camera configuration. The Mi 10T Pro 5G has a 108MP + 13MP ultrawide angle camera + 5MP macro camera on the back while the Mi 10T 5G has a 64MP + 13MP ultrawide + 5MP macro camera.
Regardless of the model you purchase, you get stereo speakers, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, an IR blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and support for 33W fast charging. Both phones run MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box.
The two phones are available for pre-order on Jingdong Indonesia and on the Xiaomi Indonesia website from today up until December 14. The first 200 people who pre-order will get a free pair of Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic while the first 200 who purchase on December 15, the first day it goes on sale, will get a free Mi 10000mAh Power Bank 3.
Microsoft’s cloud gaming service, xCloud is bundled with its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. With a price tag of $15, users will be able to stream from a library of games on their android phone or tablet wherever they are. The service is similar to Google’s Stadia.
The xCloud game streaming service is limited to just Android devices but Microsoft has announced that it will be coming to iOS and PCs next spring. An official statement published by the tech giant says that they plan to bring the service to more users next year. By expanding to PCs and iOS devices, they can add up to a billion devices to the service.
iOS users will be able to access the service via their mobile browser rather than an app, no thanks to Apple’s App Store restrictions. Instead of an app that acts as a catalog for what you want to stream, Apple wants Microsoft and other game streaming services to list each individual game as an app that users have to download before being able to stream it. Think of it as having to download an app for your favorite show or movie before you can stream it. So 10 shows or movies means 10 apps. Absurd, right?
So to avoid that, Microsoft will allow iOS users to access the service via the web browser just the way other game streaming services such as Stadia and GeForce Now provide their service on iOS.
For PCs, the xCloud gaming service will be available via the Xbox app and browser. This means you will be able to jump into an Xbox game while you are at work or hanging out with friends as long as you have your PC with you and a great internet connection.
Game streaming eliminates the need for users to purchase expensive consoles. Users can practically play from anywhere, unlike a console which practically has you tethered to one spot – your home.
Microsoft says it is also expanding the service to new markets. The countries getting the service soon are Australia, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico. So if you live in any of these countries, you should be able to enjoy the service soon.
While Xbox’s head mentioned a few weeks ago that there are plans to bring Xbox games to smart TVs, the press statement didn’t say anything about it. Nevertheless, there are guides on the internet that tell you how you can sideload the Android app onto your Android TV. Do note that it may not turn out well as not only has the streaming service not been designed for TV’s yet, it is also currently capped at 720p resolution.
Xiaomi last month unveiled the Redmi Watch, the first smartwatch to be launched under the Redmi brand. The smartwatch was expected to make a second debut in some markets as Mi Watch Lite and yesterday, we exclusively revealed (with a possible price) that the watch would launch by December 10. Indeed, the Mi Watch Lite smartwatch has now gone official for the global market. The watch is presently listed on mi.com but the pricing and availability details are not listed.
Design-wise, the Mi Watch Lite has a similar design and even specs with the Redmi Watch. That is, it features a square-shaped screen with a simple but elegant design. It weighs just 35g with the strap and 31g without the strap. The Mi Watch Lite comes in three different watch cases and five strap colours. The colors include Pink, Ivory, Black, Navy blue, and Olive.
The minimalist design language includes a 2.5D curved glass panel, matte texture body, metal texture buttons, matching skin-friendly TPU material strap, manufactured using heat bending process in order for it to fit the curvature of the wrist. The watch also comes with a detachable buckle design.
The Mi Watch Lite sports a 1.4-inch TFT color touchscreen with a pixel density of 323PPI. The watch also features more than 20 custom dials, including classic simplicity, cool IP, independent design, etc.
In terms of functions, the lite edition supports heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and sedentary monitoring. It can record 24-hour heart rate changes, resting heart rate for the past 30 days, and also supports breathing training functions. The watch comes with 11 workout modes which include outdoor running, indoor running, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, walking, swimming in the pool, and free activities.
Furthermore, there is a built-in high-precision six-axis sensor with a motion algorithm and supports 5 ATM (50 meters) water resistance. The watch also packs a decent 230mAh battery under the hood which is touted to deliver up to 9 days of battery life on a single charge.
We’ll update this story when the pricing and availability details are released.
Qualcomm‘s next-generation Snapdragon 888 chipset was announced this month and is expected to feature on flagship models in January 2021. MediaTek is also expected to unveil its next-generation flagship SoC soon. The company’s CEO Rick Tsai has now disclosed that the next-gen MediaTek chip will be released in Q1 2021.
MediaTek is Taiwan’s biggest semiconductor supplier used in smartphones. The company’s chief executive Rick Tsai disclosed this in a speech entitled “Accelerating the Digital Economy post the COVID-19 pandemic” at the IEEE Global Communications Conference in Taipei yesterday. He unveiled plans to launch its new flagship 5G chip by February.
The announcement is an indication that the Taiwanese chipmaker is becoming more confident about the rollout of its new 5G chip designed for premium smartphones. Two months back, MediaTek gave a vague schedule, saying that new phones powered by its new Dimensity 5G chip would enter mass production early next year.
MediaTek expects replacement demand to take off next year as shipments of 5G handsets worldwide are expected to double from more than 200 million units this year. The growth momentum of 5G phones is projected to continue into 2023 with the 5G penetration rate expected to climb to about 60 percent from 49 percent in 2022. This year, the 5G smartphone penetration rate is expected to reach 18 percent, according to Tsai.
The CEO also disclosed that the company’s strategy is to build a comprehensive product portfolio for smartphones with different price points. He also confirmed plans by the chipmaker to roll out a new 5G processor for entry-level smartphones.
MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 1000 SoC as well as the Dimensity 800 chip have been utilized by a number of OEMs on their flagships.
Apple released the iPhone 12 Pro Max alongside the iPhone 12 Mini with amazing specifications. It is the most advanced iPhone you can actually get on the shelves but is it even the best phone in the whole market? There is no better way to understand it than comparing it with top-tier Android flagships. While waiting for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S21 which will happen in January 2021, we included the latest Samsung flagship in this comparison: the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. And given that it is considered by a lot of people as the best Android flagship of 2020, we also included the awesome OPPO Find X2 Pro. Let’s discover all the differences together.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max vs Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra vs Oppo Find X2 Pro
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G
Oppo Find X2 Pro
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4 mm, 228 g
164.8 x 77.2 x 8.1 mm, 208 g
165.2 x 74.4 x 8.8 mm, 217 g
DISPLAY
6.7 inches, 1284 x 2778p (Full HD+), Super Retina XDR OLED
6.9 inches, 1440 x 3088p (Quad HD+), Dynamic AMOLED 2X
I love the design of the OPPO Find X2 Pro and I consider it the best design of this trio. It comes with amazing materials: you can choose between a variant made of ceramic and a leather version (it is vegan leather) with an aluminum frame. The phone is also waterproof up to 1.5 meters deep thanks to the IP68 certification. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra still offers an awesome design with its high screen-to-body ratio and its stainless steel frame, and it is waterproof as well with the IP68 certification. But the best build quality is provided by the iPhone 12 Pro Max, coming with a stainless steel frame and Ceramic Shield. The Apple flagship is waterproof up to 6 meters deep!
Display
Here it is a very hard fight. The displays of these phones are more or less at the same level as they provide an astonishing image quality, close to perfection. Unfortunately, the iPhone 12 Pro Max lacks a high refresh rate, that is why I would not choose it. In 2020, the image quality is not everything: the smoothness counts too. Instead, I would go for the OPPO Find X2 Pro with its 10-bit color depth and 120 Hz refresh rate. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is very similar, but it does not allow using 120 Hz with the max Quad HD+ resolution. On the other hand, it supports the S Pen for handwriting and drawing.
Hardware and Software
Each of these devices sports a flagship-class hardware department, but the most powerful is the iPhone 12 Pro Max: it is fueled by the new Apple A14 Bionic platform built at 5 nm with 5G support. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G with a Snapdragon 865+ paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of native storage. But you should note that the European version is not powered by the Snapdragon 865+: instead, you get an Exynos 990 chipset which is actually inferior to the vanilla Snapdragon 865 found on the OPPO Find X2 Pro.
Camera
The best camera performance is offered by the iPhone 12 Pro Max, followed by the OPPO Find X2 Pro. The iPhone 12 Pro Max provides better video recording capabilities, while OPPO Find X2 Pro has higher zoom capabilities thanks to a periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is slightly less interesting, but it remains one of the best camera phones out there.
Battery
Despite it packs a smaller battery, the iPhone 12 Pro Max can actually provide a longer battery life. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a bit disappointing despite its 4400 mAh battery, while the Oppo Find X2 Pro sits in the middle. The Find X2 Pro wins the fast charging comparison with its 65W power, but it lacks wireless charging.
Price
Oppo Find X2 Pro is priced at €1199 in the global market, while you need €10 less to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max ($1099/€1189). Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra costs $1299/€1299. If you are a productivity user, you may find the S Pen very useful, that is why Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra might be the best choice for you. But if you are not I believe OPPO Find X2 Pro is a better phone than Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The iPhone 12 Pro Max looks even better from several points of view (better hardware and camera, but it lacks a high refresh rate and very fast charging) if you can live with iOS.
We are probably just four to five weeks away from the Galaxy S21 series launch. Samsung is expected to unveil three devices- Galaxy S21 5G, S21+ 5G, S21 Ultra 5G on January 14. Ahead of this, a lot of leaks, including official teasers are appearing online. And now, a tipster says the device will have an improved fingerprint sensor after two years.
Ice Universe, a popular tipster, says that Samsung has improved the Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S21. According to him, it will be the first upgrade since the Galaxy S10 from 2019. In case you don’t know, Samsung introduced the Qualcomm’s UltraSonic Fingerprint technology at the launch of the Galaxy S10 series.
Unlike optical scanners, an ultrasonic fingerprint uses a sound-wave to read your fingerprint. Back then, it was integrated within the display and once you touch the scanning area, the pressure of the finger will send an electric pulse. This pulse will nudge the ‘3D Sonic Sensor’ that reads and authenticates the entry. However, as promised, the fingerprint sensor didn’t live up to the expectations.
But it could change now as tipster says the fingerprint sensor on Galaxy S21 will be a 8×8=64mm. Apparently, this is 1.77 times higher than the previous generation. I think he is probably referring to the larger scanning area here but let’s wait for more details. That said, if Ice Universe’s statement is true, users just require a tap on the area as the unlocking speed is going to be doubled.
The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor of Galaxy S21 is 8×8=64mm, which is 1.77 times higher than the previous generation, and the unlocking speed is doubled. You don’t even need to press it, just tap to unlock.😼
Anyway, considering fingerprint is a necessary feature, Samsung will mostly include the same fingerprint across models. However, we will have to wait and see the real-world testing to believe these early claims.
Samsung has also teased an event on December 15, where it’s expected to unveil the Exynos 2100 SoC that probably powers the Galaxy S21 series. Out of the three, Galaxy S21, and S21+ will have an identical design but different specs. That is a 6.2-inch FHD+ display and 4,000mAh battery on the former, and a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and 4,800mAh battery on the latter.
Samsung‘s next-generation flagship Exynos processor which will be known as Exynos 2100 is expected to be officially unveiled on December 15 which is only a couple of days away. Ahed of the event, the company’s Exynos chip division released a tweet which is accompanied by an emotional video showing gratitude towards fans of the brand.
The video is said to be an appreciation to fans for their loyalty but beneath the surface, it seems to suggest the Exynos team acknowledge their shortcomings. The brand is apologizing to loyal fans who were left disappointed by the performance of the 2020 Exynos 990 chipset used on the Galaxy S20 series.
For successive years, Samsung’s Exynos chipset has often lagged behind those from Qualcomm but things seem to have nosedived further in the last few years. The Exynos chip now lag far behind those from Qualcomm. This year was perhaps the worst as the Exynos 990 was noticeably behind the Snapdragon 865 in performance such that a Charge.org petition was initiated and gathered momentum in an attempt to stop Samsung from using Exynos chip on its flagship.
The Exynos 1080 was announced by Samsung last month. The chipset is a flagship-grade Systems-on-Chip (SoC) but it isn’t the best we can get from Samsung. The Exynos 1080 chip will be released onboard the Vivo X60 series.
For its 2021 flagship, Samsung will utilize the Exynos 2100 for the Galaxy S21 series in some markets. On the other hand, the company will also launch a Snapdragon 888-powered version in selected markets.
The Exynos 2100 is built using Samsung’s latest 5nm EUV process and is rumored to feature four Cortex-A55 CPU cores, three Cortex-A78 cores, a brand-new Cortex-X1 core, and a Mali-G78 graphics chip.
Chinese company realme is the world’s fastest smartphone brand to hit 50 million units in shipments. But apart from handsets, the firm is also known for its wearable products, especially truly wireless earphones. Hence, to maintain its position, realme is all set to launch a new TWS.
realme Buds Air Pro
According to popular Indian tech influencer Mukul Sharma (stufflistings), realme will be soon releasing a new pair of truly wireless earphones. He revealed its name to be ‘realme Buds Air Pro Me’ in a cryptic tweet.
Apart from its name, the influencer did not reveal anything else about this upcoming TWS. Hence, its specifications and features are a mystery as of now.
Anyway, going by its branding, we expect it to be either a higher or toned-down version of the already available realme Buds Air Pro. If it is the former, then it may come with support for wireless charging.
But if it is the latter, we are not sure what it will be missing because if it happens to lack ANC, then there will be no significant difference between it and the regular realme Buds Air.
On the other hand, the realme Buds Air Pro Me could arrive with a different design but with the same set of features as the standard Pro model. For instance, it may feature a Galaxy Buds-like design without the stem.
Anyway, we expect to learn more about this product in the coming days before its official launch.
Samsung began rolling out the One UI 3.0 stable update in Europe, USA a few days back. Later, it revealed the schedule for India yesterday. Now, Samsung Germany has published a schedule for the update rollout suggesting the same timeline for the entire Europe.
As reported by GalaxyClub.nl(via GSMArena) Samsung has posted the details on the Samsung Members App. The list includes a similar pattern where the company details a list of devices and their corresponding One UI 3.0 based on Android 11 rollout times. If we recall, a schedule for Egypt was the first to appear online before the rollout started for Galaxy S20 in Europe and the USA.
However, the list misses out on devices like Galaxy A40, A41, A42, and even the recently launched Galaxy S20 FE. Anyway, you can take a look at the entire schedule for Europe below. Considering the Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra have already started receiving it in Europe, let’s just skip through to January 2021:
Anyway, the update corroborates the early rumor which said Samsung’s plans to expand the One UI 3.0 to about 90 devices. It must be noted that Galaxy S20 FE and Note 20 are seemingly getting the update only in January. Early reports said that the devices might get it early in December. Nevertheless, there is an early schedule and beware that Samsung might change it anytime.
