Gone are the glorious old days of HTC releasing Android smartphones with unique industrial design. The company has shifted its focus to VR industry years ago leaving behind the phone business. Last year, we only go to see a handful of devices and one of them was not even developed by the company. That said, the brand may soon release a new handset called Desire 20 Pro whose design sketch has been leaked recently.
The HTC Desire 20 Pro design sketch leak comes from Evan Blass who is popularly known by his alias @evleaks on Twitter. He posted this leak on his Patreon as he no longer posts leaks on the social media platform.
The design sketch of HTC Desire 20 Pro reveals the phone to feature a display with a punch hole at the top left corner. The sketch also showcases the handset with zero bezels, which we think is just for illustration as the final product will most likely have noticeable bezels all around.
The right side of the device will come with a textured power key and volume rockers above it. Whereas, the phone’s rear will house a quad-camera setup paired with an LED flash and a circular traditional capacitive fingerprint sensor at the top centre. The back of the device will also feature HTC branding at the dead centre.
Mr Blass also confirms the codename of the handset to be Bayamo but unfortunately, he did not say anything about the specs. However, according to a recent Geekbench listing, the device is somewhat confirmed to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, 6GB RAM, and Android 10.
Based on the alleged specs and design leak, the HTC Desire 20 Pro will be a phone with a modern design but with specs from 2018.
Samsung has just confirmed through its recent financial report that the Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Fold 2 will launch later this year. While the report primarily revolved around financial figures, it also revealed certain interesting information as well, especially related to the highly anticipated handsets mentioned above.
Samsung Galaxy S20 series
While the South Korean tech giant didn’t directly name individual models, it did state its plans on improving product sales for the second half of 2020. It is clear from the reports that the performance in the first quarter and the first half overall wasn’t satisfactory. A major reason for the decline in sales is likely attributed to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Thus, the company is looking to bolster its offerings to attract higher sales in the latter half. Samsung, while not revealing names, stated that the new Galaxy Note and Galaxy Fold models will play an integral part of its plan for the second half of this year. So, it is almost a complete confirmation regarding the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 being an important part of the premium segment, through which the company plans on bolstering sales numbers again.
Unfortunately, Samsung did not reveal any specifics about the flagship devices apart from the role they will come to play in a few months. Although, these are a part of the company’s plans to expand its 5G enabled handsets’ portfolio. Samsung is currently the most popular 5G smartphone maker, thanks to its home country being one of the first to adopt the newer and faster bandwidth in the mass commercial market. So we may soon see even more affordable Galaxy smartphone with 5G networking soon, apart from the premium flagships.
LG has already revealed the entire specs and official renders of the LG VELVET 5G phone that is scheduled to debut on May 7 through an online event. The South Korean company is expected to begin the sales of the LG VELVET smartphone on May 15. A Vietnamese leakster has shared live shots of the smartphone ahead of it unveil event.

The triple setup of the LG VELVET includes a 48-megapixel primary shooter, an ultrawide sensor of 8-megapixel and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front image shows that waterdrop notch screen of the device. LG has confirmed that it has a massive display of 6.8 inches. The OLED panel offers 20.5:9 aspect ratio and it is integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The display notch houses a 16-megapixel lens.
One of the leaked images reveals the innards of the LG VELVET. A 4,300mAh battery is present inside the device. Apart from fast charging, the handset will carry support for 10W wireless charging. The wireless charging can be seen in the image.
The LG VELVET is a 5G-ready phone that is driven by the Snapdragon 765G chipset. The Android 10 OS coupled with LG’s latest UI will come preloaded on the device. The other features that will be available on the LG VELVET include 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, NFC, USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and dual-SIM support. The Coronavirus pandemic has led to many governments and health advisory boards to mandate the use of face masks. Many nations already had the culture of wearing regular masks, but the N95 compliant standards are the ones that best protect against the recent outbreak. Now, Huami, a known smart wearables maker, is making its own N95 masks, but ones that are compatible with the face unlock on your smartphones.
In recent times, biometric security in various forms has taken center stage for smartphone security. One of the most popular ones, especially in flagship devices, is the face unlock feature. Unfortunately, many smartphones are not compatible with the surgical mask or even the N95 masks. These handsets require certain facial cues or markers that it has registered for its user, which are interfered by the said masks.
However, Huami, the brand known for the Amazfit lineup, is working on a new face mask that can work around this problem. Earlier this month, the company had revealed that it had started working on a new endeavor named “Project uSmile.” The primary objective of this project was to ease the effects of social distancing. In other words, bring out the emotions/facial expressions one would normally witness in their lives.
Project uSmile did not have a particular date of arrival but Huami has now shared concept images of the protective mask that feature a replaceable N95 filter. The name of the project is now dubbed as “Aeri” and its goal is to have a transparent body to allow for facial expressions to be observable. Thus, the added bonus of face unlock also working with this new mask is another great positive aspect.
Looking at the images shared, the wearable has a translucent frame with an anti-fog cover. It has a replaceable filter pad alongside a ventilation fan and a built in UV light for added disinfection. Other finer details can also be seen and the new Huami face mask offers some pretty interesting features in a very “social” and unimpeded design. These masks will are flexible, and will fit tightly around your face. One can charge them will be through a USB Type C port.
HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones released quite a few models last year. Nevertheless, it is at least launching some and above all, regularly updating its existing devices in a timely fashion. Now, as per a new tip, the firm is set to launch two new feature handsets called Nokia 150 and Nokia 125.
The information about the upcoming Nokia feature phones comes from Roland Quandt, a prolific tipster with a history of accurate leaks. Unfortunately, he only reveals the model number of the new phones and nothing else.
According to his tweet, the forthcoming Nokia 150 will bear the model number TA-1235, whereas the Nokia 125 will come with model number TA-1253 attached to it. This is the only knowledge he has of these phones as of now.
But thanks to another source, we are also aware of the price of these feature handsets. Both the Nokia 150 as well as Nokia 125 will come with dual-SIM support and will retail for €41.90 and €35.90 respectively. The price of Nokia 150 is exactly the same as the older model (same name) but that one was developed by Microsoft and not HMD Global.
We are yet to see any render of these devices. But now as the prices are already out, the handsets may go official anytime soon.

In its forecast for the current quarter, leading smartphone chipset maker Qualcomm says that the world’s biggest smartphone market — China is returning to normal levels in terms of demand after the coronavirus outbreak.
The company predicts that it will generate about $4.4 billion to $5.2 billion in revenue for the second quarter of the year, i.e. Q2 2020. Qualcomm’s CEO Steve Mollenkopf said that the demand is “very close to the level it would be normally but the mix of 5G is better than we expected.”
Smartphone sales in China plummeted an unprecedented 22 percent during the first quarter after the COVID-19 outbreak forced companies to shut down their stores and production and supply chain were also compromised. But Steve Mollenkopf says that the issue has largely been fixed and future sales will depend on consumer spending levels.
While Qualcomm originally expected to ship about 175 billion to 185 billion modems in 2020, it’s no longer providing total market predictions. The company also said that it expects the smartphone industry to ship 30 percent fewer phones in the June quarter because of the COVID-19 crisis.
However, the company adds that there will be relatively strong demand for 5G smartphones across 2020. This contradicts Strategy Analytics report which claims that 5G smartphone shipments will be lower in 2020 than originally anticipated.
Qualcomm has reported fiscal second-quarter revenue increase by 4.7 percent to $5.2 billion. This is in line with the company’s earlier forecast and has topped estimates. Net income for the company fell to $468 million from $663 million a year earlier.
The response of the Chinese market after the COVID-19 pandemic about how quickly it can get back on its feet is vital as it gives indication about how the European and North American market will emerge after the pandemic.
MIUI 12 was officially unveiled earlier this week by Xiaomi. The company even released the initial closed beta builds for all the eligible devices in China. It also shared a preliminary update timeline, which will be revised according to the progress of the development. The latest Xiaomi Android skin has a ton of new features and one of the coolest is Super Wallpaper. Thankfully, it has been now successfully ported to run on all Android devices.
Being an open-source platform, Android has many advantages over iOS in terms of flexibility. When Xiaomi released MIUI 12 China Beta ROMs, the Super Wallpaper APKs were extracted from the firmware by enthusiasts so that they can run it on their global Xiaomi / Redmi devices.
Now, linuxct, a recognized XDA Developer has successfully ported them to work on all Android devices running Android 8.1 Oreo or above. Interested users will have to only download and install the ported Super Wallpaper APKs to use it on their devices.
We have provided the official download link given by the developer at the end of the post. The zip file weighs 297.8MB as it includes Super Wallpapers for both Earth and Mars. Once installed, users can set it on their device by normally navigating to wallpaper selection.
Some devices may not show it and in that case, install Google Wallpapers from the Play Store and apply the desired MIUI 12 Super Wallpaper through it.

Design
LG VELVET is all about design. It is the only last-generation phone which does not sport a big camera module on the back, but just three separate sensors and a LED flash nestled in the rear panel. It is extremely elegant and minimalistic. The LG VELVET is also one of the thinnest smartphones out there with a thickness of just 6.8 mm. Further, it is made of premium material including a glass back and a metal frame. It is even a waterproof phone with the IP68 certification (up to 1.5 meters for max 30 minutes). Last but not least, it has the MIL-STD-810G certifying its resistance to drops. Premium design, premium materials, and premium build quality: the LG VELVET is the perfect mid-ranger when it comes to the aesthetics.
Display
If we talk about displays, each of these devices has its pros and cons. Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom is very interesting with its Super AMOLED panel supporting the HDR10+ technology providing a richer image quality. LG VELVET has an OLED display too with pretty nice quality, a wide 20.5:9 aspect ratio, and a large 6.8-inch diagonal. Realme X50m 5G has an IPS display, but it is the only supporting a very high 120 Hz refresh rate. Do you prefer a richer image quality or a higher refresh rate?
Hardware/Software
Under the hood, these three devices sport a powerful Snapdragon 765G supporting 5G connectivity thanks to an integrated 5G modem. They should provide very similar performance since they come with the same chipset and up to 8 GB of RAM, as well as UFS native storage. But if you choose the higher-end version of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom, you will get more internal storage: up to 256 GB. In each case, you get 5G (both SA and NSA) and Android 10 out of the box.
Camera
Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom and LG VELVET are more interesting as camera phones for different reasons. The LG VELVET definitely offers the best main sensor and it is the only to support OIS for better stabilization. On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom offers higher zoom capabilities thanks to a periscopic telephoto lens with a 5x optical zoom. Realme X50m 5G should be more advanced if we talk about selfies as it features a dual 16 + 2 MP front camera including a depth sensor. But its rear cameras are undoubtedly inferior.
Battery
LG VELVET has the biggest battery, but it is just a marginal difference compared to Realme X50m 5G and Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom, so we can not ensure it will last more on a single charge. But it is the only to offer wireless charging (with a 10W power) and, alongside the Realme X50m 5G, it has the fastest wired charging technology with a power of 30W. Given its 120 Hz IPS display, we doubt Realme X50m 5G will be the best battery phone of this trio.
Price
Unfortunately, the companies did not reveal the global price and availability of these devices, so we can not make a proper price comparison. Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom starts from CNY 2,099 (roughly $273) in China, Realme X50m 5G starts from CNY 1,999 (roughly $260) in China, we still do not know how much LG VELVET will be priced. Probably LG VELVET will be costlier, but it is the most impressive device of this comparison due to its great camera, best design, wireless charging, waterproof and military certifications. Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom takes the second place, but Realme X50m 5G has the highest value for money.
