Blackview is one of those Chinese manufacturers that are not afraid to innovate and take risks that are necessary when competing in such a demanding market as the smartphone market is. Many excellent rugged phones came to the market thanks to Blackview and in the upcoming MWC 2020 in Barcelona on February 24th, the company will introduce a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G model and a new flagship device! No more details are disclosed for the time being but we’re already intrigued by the world’s 1st 5G rugged phone and the mystery flagship.
At the same time, those who will be attending the show will have the chance to get to know some of the new products that Blackview has already unveiled.
Blackview BV6900
The BV6900 is a successor to the BV6800 Pro which was introduced in 2018, and this is, needless to say, a rugged smartphone with better features. Of course, the BV6900 looks different from its predecessor.
Blackview BV6300 Pro
The BV6300 Pro features a slim body and rugged design. Different from most rugged phones in the market, you can expect it to be lightweight and pocket-friendly. It is the perfect device for someone to enter the rugged smartphone market.
Blackview A80
Besides from rugged phones, the company also produces casual smartphones and the Blackview A80 is one of them. Like the A80 Pro, this too will be coming with a quad-camera setup and according to information, the price will be very friendly.

There are not a lot of premium Chromebooks out there that are a perfect blend of specs and design. Seeing as Google didn’t announce a PixelBook 2 last year but gave us the PixelBook Go instead, Samsung has stepped up with the gorgeous Galaxy Chromebook announced today at CES 2020.
Design
The Galaxy Chromebook is the first Chromebook from Samsung to have the Galaxy name. The 2-in-1 comes in two color variants – Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray (not pictured) – and it is easy to see which of the two colorways is the stunner since Samsung has released press renders of only the former.
With an aluminum body designed to endure your daily usage and a 4K UHD AMOLED touchscreen display with 3.9mm thin bezels that will leave you stunned every time, this is the Chromebook to buy if you want a premium ChromeOS computer.
Specifications
The 4K AMOLED display (3840 x 2160) touchscreen measures 13.3-inches in size. It has Intel’s 10th Gen Core i5 processor inside, up to 16GB of RAM (LPDDR3), and up to 1TB of SSD storage.
There is a 1MP camera above the display for video calls and another 8MP camera placed above the keyboard just in case you want to take photos with it when in tablet mode.
The Galaxy Chromebook has a stylus that fits in a slot just beside the USB Type-C port on the left, allowing you to write and draw fluidly on the screen. You can also use it to navigate the system.
You get Google Assistant, stereo speakers (2W x 2), a fingerprint scanner, and a backlit keyboard. There is also WiFi 6 for superfast connectivity. The Galaxy Chromebook has 2 X USB-C ports, a 3.5mm microphone and audio combo jack, and a UFS/MicroSD card slot.

We are just a few days into 2020 and Realme is already set for multiple smartphone releases in the Asian continent. Today, the company unveiled the Realme 5i budget smartphone in Vietnam. The same phone will launch in India on January 9. And tomorrow, Realme will have one of the most important launches in the first quarter of the year, the Realme X50 5G. The phone is not only the first 5G smartphone from the brand but also the direct rival to the world’s cheapest 5G smartphone right now, the Redmi K30 5G.
It’s shouldn’t come as a surprise that the X50 5G is launching on the same day as the Redmi K30 5G goes on sale in China for the first time. And as we wait for the Realme X50 5G launch on January 7 i.e. tomorrow, let’s take a quick look at Realme X50’s specs and features. Unsurprisingly, we already know a lot about the device, including its design and specifications. So tomorrow’s launch event is mainly for its price and availability details.
Realme X50 5G Design
The Realme X50 5G is confirmed to adopt a familiar design at the back. This includes a pill-shaped quad-camera setup on the top left corner and a special high-gloss back finish. The phone is expected to come in a single color finish in Blue, Purple, Black, and Gold color options. Note that these are not plain solid colors. The Realme X50 seems to have undergone a series of processes to create a fancy pattern that changes according to the angle of light. It remains to be seen if there’ll be any gradient color options for the model.
realme x50 5g real image leak
There are two things that particularly stand out about the Realme X50. First, the phone features a dual punch-hole camera setup on the top-left corner of its display. In case you are wondering, Redmi K30 5G‘s dual punch hole shooters are located on the top-right corner of the screen.
Another feature that stands out is the presence of a side-mounted fingerprint sensor present on the right side of the device. Again, we have to add that the Redmi K30 5G also features a side-mounted sensor on its right side.
The fingerprint sensor is located on the right side
It looks like manufacturers are warming up to the idea of side-mounted fingerprint sensors. Traditionally, both the brands have stuck to a rear placed physical fingerprint sensor or an in-display sensor whenever possible (read: AMOLED display phones).
We expect the phone to have a 3.5mm headphone jack, but this feature is yet to be confirmed.
The Realme X50 5G is a lot more interesting in this department. The phone is confirmed to feature the new Snapdragon 765G 5G integrated processor. We expect RAM and ROM combination to start at 6GB and 64GB respectively and go all the way up to 12GB and 256GB. According to TENAA, the X50 5G will feature a 6.57-inch 2400 x 1080p display. TENAA failed to reveal the type of panel on the device but it’s safe to say that its most likely going to be an IPS LCD panel, similar to the Redmi K30 5G. A 4100mAh battery is expected to power the device with 30W fast charging. This should fill up the battery up to 70 percent in around 30 minutes. You should also get Android 10 out of the box as well as a liquid cooling setup.
The Realme X50 5G will feature a quad-camera setup at the back. There will be a 64MP primary shooter along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 2MP depth camera for portraits. Up front, the dual punch-hole camera setup should consist of a 16MP primary shooter paired with an 8MP wide-angle shooter for selfies.
Apart from the Realme X50 5G, the company has confirmed that it will be launching a ‘LITE’ version of the handset called the Realme X50 Youth Edition in China. This is likely going to be a 4G handset. No other details about the device are available at the moment.
Pricing information of the Realme X50 5G is still not available but it is rumored that the phone could start at 2199 yuan ($315). We are not so sure about this figure since the Redmi K30 5G starts at a cheaper figure of 1999 yuan ($287).

Xiaomi has got all kinds of products manufactured to cater to the needs of every member of the household in the winter/spring season. The products range from graphene heated goose-down jacket, water heater, home heater and now, the brand has launched the Little Bear Foot warmer presently on sale on Xiaomi Youpin for 189 yuan (~$27).
The foot warmer comes with a graphene heating core and can be used with bare feet and socks. Most of the products launched by Xiaomi like the goose-down jacket use graphene heating technology. This is said to be because graphene heats up fast and the body releases infrared rays which can transfer heat to deeper parts of the human skin.
The Little Bear foot warmer has an overheating power cut-off feature which ensures it doesn’t get too hot. The temperature can be adjusted in four steps, one can be barefoot, the second can be worn with socks, the third can be higher, and the fourth can be used to transfer heat to the legs.
In terms of the power rating, the foot warmer has a power of 170W and automatically shuts down after 4 hours of use. This is yet another form of protection. The pedal has a dimension of 525 x 330mm which is wide enough to hold two pairs of feet. The pedal is reinforced with insulation material to prevent burns to the feet.
The foot warmer is presently available on Xiaomi Youpin.

Huawei P40 Pro is expected to go official alongside the P40 in March this year. As the date draws nearer, we expect more details and leaks to emerge. The design has also featured in several renders. A couple of renders and TPU casing have now appeared online. We must note that the new renders are consistent with what we had seen previously.
The render was shared by Ben Geskin on his Twitter handle and isn’t really an official one but based on “his vision”. The render shows both the front and rear design. The display houses a single punch-hole design nested at the top left corner. The leaked renders accompanying the TPU cases said to have been listed by a retailer on Alibaba also shows the front design of the P40 Pro. The most prominent difference is the presence of a dual punch-hole. Earlier renders also shows the P40 Pro will have a dual selfie camera setup. The renders also highlight a curved-edge design for the P40 Pro.
The rear design has already been confirmed to include a rectangular camera module which now seems to be a growing trend. The design, as spotted on the leaked render and ones accompanying the TPU case, includes a wide rectangular cut out to project the rear camera. The TPU case is similar to that of the P40 which leaked recently but the sizes of the display are likely different as well as the camera configuration. The P40 Pro is reported to feature a quad-camera setup which is one sensor more than that of the P30. The edges of the casing around the camera protrudes and that is because the camera housing will have a protrusion from the rest of the glass body.
The casing also gives us a view of the edges confirming the presence of a USB Type-C port at the bottom of the Huawei P40 Pro along with a speaker grill on the right. The device is said to have a SIM tray on the left but we can’t make that out from the render.
Further, the P40 will have its power button and volume rocker are on the right side of the metal frame. Unfortunately, the P40 Pro also ditches the audio jack just like the P40.
CES 2020 doesn’t officially begin until tomorrow but manufacturers have already begun announcing new products. Acer is one of them and it has unveiled the new Spin 3 and Spin 5 computers.
Acer Spin 5 (SP513-54N)
The Spin 5 has a 13.5-inch 2K multi-touch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 7.78 millimeter-thin bezels. It has a 360° hinge that allows the screen to fold backward completely for use in tablet mode and also elevates the keyboard in laptop mode. Talking about tablet mode, the Spin 5 has a rechargeable Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 1.0.
The textured stylus has 4096 pressure levels and a storage dock where it can be kept when not in use and also to charge it. Acer says a 15-second charge will provide up to 90 minutes of active writing. The Spin 5 also supports an optional Active Stylus with Wacom AES 2.0.
The notebook has a Core-i7 10th Gen Intel processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of SSD storage. It has 2 x USB Type-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 3, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one has support for offline charging), 1 x HDMI port, and a MicroSD card reader.
The Spin 5 weighs just 1.2 kilograms thanks to its magnesium alloy chassis and is 14.9 millimeters thick. It also has an integrated fingerprint reader and supports Windows Hello login. The battery capacity wasn’t stated but Acer claims up to 15 hours for the Spin 5. It supports fast charging and a 30-minute charge will provide up to 4 hours.
The Acer Spin 5 will be available in the EMEA in March with a starting price of €999 and in North America in June with a starting price of $899.
Acer Spin 3
The Spin 3 comes with an even bigger display at 14-inches. It is FHD though, supports multitouch, and can be folded backward too, thanks to its 360° hinge. Since it is bigger, it is no surprise that it weighs more at 1.5 kilograms and has a thickness of 16.9 millimeters.
It also has Intel’s Core-i7 10th Gen processor and a rechargeable Acer Active Stylus with AES 1.0. It will be available with up to 16GB of RAM and has the option of dual SSDs.
The new Spin series can be used in laptop mode, display mode, tablet mode, and tent mode.
For connectivity, there are 1 x USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one with offline charging), 1 x HDMI port, and a MicroSD card reader. Its battery will provide up to 12 hours of use and it supports fast charging too.
The Acer Spin 3 will be available next month in EMEA wit a starting price tag of €649 and in North America in April with a starting price of $699.
The TV market in the US is really starting to heat up. Established companies like Samsung and LG continue to grow, while Chinese brands like Hisense and TCL have been making pretty big splashes for a while now. Samsung have even introduced some radically new concepts and products at CES to keep the attention. Now, Skyworth, another Chinese player, hopes to enter the fray.
At CES 2020, Skyworth has introduced its next generation wallpaper series TV for the living room, the W81 series. This line of TVs is available in sizes of 65″ and 77″, featuring the Skyworth OBM (OLED basic module) panel that enables the company to build the TV with an extremely slim profile while realizing Always On Display technology.
Measuring a mere 4.6mm at its thinnest point, the W81 series TV is very much a direct competition to Samsung’s Frame TV and LG Wallpaper TV, it attaches to the wall of your living room with the help of a powerful magnetic fixture and an invisible wall mount for stability.
On top of that, Skyworth has also introduced its very first 8K TV at its CES 2020 global launch today, while the company might be late to the 8K TV game, it simply wants their TVs to be ready at the right time where 8K content is readily available, as it has partnered with two content services back in China to offer 8K content to customers.
The 75-inch Q91 8K IPS LED screen features an powerful MediaTek S900C SoC coupled with 8.5GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, it is capable of doing hardware decoding up to 60fps along with an 8K AI Image Processing Engine that performs digital signal processing to upscale videos in real-time to 120fp and 8K resolution.
The 8K-packing 75-inch Q91 will sell for $5,999 while the 65-inch W81 and 65-inch W81 Pro OLEDs will retail for $3,599 and $4,599, respectively. The 77-inch W81 on the other hand has not been priced. Skyworth claims that they plan to bring both these products to the US in 2020.
Back in April, Samsung announced a rotating TV called ‘The Sero.’ Like Microsoft’s Surface Hub 2, the screen can swivel between a conventional landscape setup and portrait orientation that’s optimized for smartphone-centric content like Snapchat, Instagram Stories and TikToks. Samsung even says it’s designed with Millennials in mind.
At this year’s CES, Samsung announced the Samsung Sero is officially coming to the U.S. The 43-inch TV comes equipped with a 4K display and 60-watt speakers built into the stand. It’ll also be available on wheels, just in case you want to transport this bad boy from room to room. Its ability to rotate makes sense considering how much video is filmed vertically these days.
So how does it work? Once you sync your smartphone to the TV, you can cast content from your phone. It also works with AirPlay, so those with iPhones aren’t left out. Every time you flip the orientation of your phone, the TV automatically follows suit. Seeing it switch back and forth during demos does make it seem pretty cool and interesting.
When it’s not in use, it also doubles as a decoration piece. You can use it as a digital photo frame or a clock. There’s also the option to use it as a giant speaker to stream music on. Samsung has yet to release information on price and availability, but we’ll keep you updated as soon it’s revealed.
Master Lu, the Chinese benchmarking platform, has just released the 2019 annual report for the best performing smartphone chipsets. The report arrived earlier today (6th January 2020) and features many of the known industry leaders.
According to Master Lu, Qualcomm with the Snapdragon 855+ SoC is the best performing mobile processor of 2019. Huawei’s Kirin 990 5G chipset arrives second. Notably, MediaTek also made an appearance in the listing with its latest Dimensity 1000L 5G processor.
Master Lu’s list of the Best Smartphone Chipsets of 2019
The Snapdragon 855+ takes the lead with a total score of 348,837 points, comprising a GPU score of 84,994 points and a CPU score of 163,843 points. The Kirin 990 5G chip comes in a close second with a total score of 326,101 points, with 160856 points in the GPU score and 165245 points in the CPU score. Furthermore, the third rank of the list also went to Huawei with the base variant of Kirin 990 with a total score of 324153 points. (GPU score of 160805 points and the CPU score of 163348 points).
Further down the list, familiar names like the base variant Snapdragon 855 SoC, Samsung’s Exynos 9820, and even the previous year Qualcomm flagship, Snapdragon 845 chipset, can be found. Additionally, even MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L 5G processor makes an appearance alongside the mid range Snapdragon 765G and the Kirin 980 SoC. The fact that a mid range chipset made it to the list shows the level of performance output Qualcomm is being able to deliver on its chips found on more affordable handsets.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 5G SoC
Unfortunately, newer processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, MediaTek’s upcoming flagship Dimensity 1000 processor and even Samsung’s Exynos 980 chipset are not included in this list. These are the three major mobile processing platforms that will be seen this year (in 2020) and their performance will be benchmarked after official respective launches.
Chinese electronics giant, Huawei, discreetly launched its new entry-level smartphone recently, called the Huawei Y6s. The smartphone comes equipped with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and is powered by a MediaTek chipset instead of Snapdragon or Kirin chipset.
Among its numerous quirks is the MediaTek processor powering the Huawei Y6s. This is a rarity since Huawei has not been using MediaTek chipsets in its smartphones. It looks like Huawei is looking at ways around the trade restrictions put on it by the US Government. Using a MediaTek processor might be the most viable solution for a budget smartphone when trying to avoid Qualcomm chipsets.
The Huawei Y6s sports a 6.09-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The smartphone features a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC under the hood and flaunts 3 GB of RAM along with 32 GB of native storage, expandable via a microSD card.
In terms of optics, the Huawei Y6s flaunts a single 13-megapixel primary camera with an aperture rating of f/1.8. It gets an 8-megapixel sensor on the front, with an aperture rating of f/2.0. The smartphone draws power from a 3,020 mAh battery and does not support fast charging.
The Huawei Y6s runs on Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9. The device also gets a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for additional security. There is no word on the official pricing, and which markets will be receiving it. Starry Blue and Orchid Black are the two color editions of the smartphone.

Scientists haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact cause of dyslexia but recent research emanating from France suggests that the condition occurs when someone has two dominant eyes, rather than the usual one. This makes letters appear mirrored or blurred, making it difficult to read.
France-based startup Lexilife has unveiled the Lexilight lamp at CES 2020 designed to tackle issues of blurry letters using LEDs. The lamp pulses at a customizable rate, enabling the brain to process information from a single “dominant” eye and clearing up mashed-together letters instantly. OPPO will be one of the first companies to launch the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform powered flagship phone. The Find X2 featuring the said chipset is expected to go official in Q1 2020. OPPO Vice President has been gradually revealing key information on the Find X2. Earlier today, he debunked the Find X2 rumors that claimed that it will be equipped with an in-display camera. A Chinese tipster with a good track record on revealing leaked information has shared key details on the Find X2. He is of the view that the Find X2 may end up achieving highest scores on AnTuTu benchmarks.
The leakster has claimed that the Find X2 is fueled by Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. He has revealed that the phone will be equipped with LPDDR5 RAM. The smartphone will come with UFS 3.0 storage.
Samsung began with the mass production of 12 GB LPDDR5 RAMs for 5G flagship phones in the second half of the year. However, none of the smartphone OEMs have launched handsets with LPDDR5 RAM. With LPDDR5 RAM mass produced, many flagship phones could come equipped with it. The upcoming ZTE Axon 10s Pro is confirmed to arrive with LPDDR5 RAM.
The other thing that the leakster has mentioned is that the Find X2 with its powerful hardware can achieve 560K+ score on AnTuTu. Recently, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 / Mi 10 Pro smartphone was spotted on AnTuTu with 560K+ benchmarking scores. It will be also featuring the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, but there is no confirmation on whether it will be arriving with LPDDR5 RAM.
