Nokia is gradually spreading its tentacles to other smart home gadgets after its failed adventure with Withings. The company last year acquired mesh networking start-up Unium and subsequently released its first mesh router dubbed Beacon 3.There is now a successor, or rather a trimmed down version known as Beacon 1.
The Beacon 1 wireless router features a sleeker build as well as a cheaper price tag. The device can work in tandem with its pricier sibling. It goes on sale today priced at $129. This is just about $70 cheaper than the Beacon 3. The price offer also includes a bundle of three for $299.
The most outstanding feature of the Beacon 1 wireless router is perhaps the new smart channel-hopping feature. Nokia calls the feature “Intelligent Channel Selection” and it lets the router pick the best channels for the 2.4- and 5GHz frequency bands by analyzing nearby wireless usage patterns over time, rather than simply picking the clearest channels at the moment. As such, you avoid picking up networks that may lose their strength in a jiffy.
In addition, the device also comes with a bridge mode that’s compatible with an existing router. This comes handy for turning the Beacon 1 into an access point that you can use with other routers, like the combo modem/Wi-Fi router your ISP supplied.
Making a laptop for office work is not that easy since “office work” has many definitions. For example, someone works at the office all day whereas someone else may need to leave office and work on the go. So, manufacturers try to implement as many as possible characteristics that will make a laptop suitable for both worlds. This is where XIDU is aiming with the all-new Philbook Max 2in1 notebook. Of course, safety and stability are the priority for business laptops, However, with changes in people’s demands and development in the industry, notebooks for business people are expected to be stable, safe and at the same time versatile and trendy.
When developing the PhilBook Max, the Chinese manufacturer firstly dealt with safety and security. This was easy as the security features of Windows 10 are greatly improved over previous versions. The Philbook Max protects users’ privacy via pin while the touchscreen also improves their working efficiency by reducing reliance on mouse and keyboard. In addition, the device sports an Intel Apollo Lake CPU clocked up to 2.5GHz backed by 6GB of RAM and 128GB SSD, enabling users to multitask without any noteworthy lag. What’s more, it also comes with a backlit keyboard that perfectly suits the need of people who work overtime.
A definitely killer feature is the 2in1 design that, with the help of the 360° flexible hinge, allows you to flip the screen to whatever position suits you best. You can even use it as any other tablet if you flip it 360°. This is space-saving as well if you find yourself traveling in a narrow plane or train seat. And if you get tired, you can relax by watching a movie or some videos when in tablet mode.
As far as build quality is concerned, the company has undoubtedly done a good job. Philbook Max features a sophisticated aluminum alloy body and the abrasive texture of A and D side of the laptop gives a deluxe and comfortable touch. More importantly, it helps reduce fingerprints and other residues. Also, it is more durable than plastic although it dents may appear on aluminum if the laptop accidentally falls. Well, that’s better than ending up with a broken plastic laptop.
Lastly, the Philbook Max also provides various external ports including 1 x Mini HDMI, 2 x USB 3.0, 1 x Microphone Jack, 1 x Bluetooth 4.2, 1 x MicroSD card slot, 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, and a Webcam. The device is now available on XIDU’s Official Store costing just $349.99, which is way lower than similar products. If you are looking for a portable, versatile, and cost-effective product it is worth a shot. Don’t forget to check out the coupon list to get it at an even lower price. More coupons will be available for Amazon Prime Day.
All new smartphones tend to go through a period in which they experience some bugs and kinks that are usually ironed out in future patches. This is why it did not come as a surprise to learn that OnePlus 7 Pro owners were running into issues with the handset, although in this case, this issue seems to be pretty severe.
For those of you who aren’t aware, many OnePlus 7 Pro users have been finding that their devices have been randomly shutting down. There appears to be no rhyme nor reason for the device’s shutdowns, which is pretty peculiar. Following the shutdown, the only way to reboot the phone is by manually rebooting into fastboot.
Thankfully, OnePlus seems to be aware of the problem and are already working on a fix. In a statement made to Android Police, a OnePlus representative said, “we are aware of this issue, and we will be issuing an update to address it.” There is no word on when the patch will be released, but the good news is that it doesn’t seem to be particularly widespread, so not all OnePlus 7 Pro owners are affected.
For now, there’s not really much one can actually do about it other than fastbooting. It’s a temporary fix, but at least it’s something. In the meantime, stay tuned over here on Gizmochina.com to see if anything new comes up regarding the upcoming update.
After the US banned Huawei from conducting business with any of its companies, many people in China became patriotic and started buying Huawei devices to support the company. This way, in the past few months, people often slapped a patriotic label on Huawei products. Essentially, it meant if you were patriotic, you would buy Huawei smartphones instead of something foreign such as Apple. However, Huawei’s Chen Lifang, Director and President of the Public Affairs and Communications Department has a different view in this regard.
Patriotic or not, Huawei P30 Pro is one of the best camera phones in the market today!
Chen Lifang says that internally Huawei is quite clear on where it stands. She states that if Huawei doesn’t do a good job with its products, technologies, and services, it’s impossible to survive in the long term by just slapping a patriotic label on the company. So, Huawei doesn’t pay attention to what label people or media slap on them, it just focuses on making good quality products.
Back in May, even Huawei’s founder Ren had tried to cool down the growing wave of nationalist sentiment towards the company by saying that the iPhone has a pretty good ecosystem and that he still buys iPhone for his family when they are abroad.
From these comments, it looks like Huawei doesn’t want users to buy its products just because it’s patriotic. Instead, it wants to keep focusing on making good quality products. Honestly, it makes sense why Huawei would want to stay away from a nationalist label. Despite its Chinese origin, Huawei smartphones are sold worldwide in millions. They need the support of its global users and the only way to ensure this is to make high-quality products at a competitive price tag.
The Realme 3 is getting a new member on July 15. The series already has the Realme 3 itself and the Realme 3 Pro but next week, they will be joined by the Realme 3i.
The phone was seen on Geekbench earlier this week and the benchmark result revealed it has an Helio P60 processor powering it. Now Flipkart has confirmed it indeed has an Helio P60 chipset.
[envira-gallery id=”263426″]
The landing page on Flipkart app shows what the Realme 3i looks like and also stylishly confirms two important specs. The landing page shows the phone in the two color variants it will be available in – blue and gradient red, and both have the diamond-cut design of the Realme 1. There are dual cameras and a fingerprint scanner on the back too.
The part that actually reveals the specification is a quiz and the first option among the answers which is, of course, the correct one says the phone has a 4230mAh battery and an Helio P60 processor. This is the same chipset inside the Realme 3 sold in other markets (Indian version has an Helio P70) but the battery capacity is the same.
There are still other details we do not know about the phone but at the moment, the processor is the only difference between the Realme 3i and the Indian version of the Realme 3. More details should surface in the coming days.
It appears the Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy Note10 series will not be Samsung‘s only Snapdragon 855-powered phones. The upcoming Galaxy A90 will also have a Snapdragon 855 chipset under its hood.
This isn’t the first time we have learned that the Galaxy A90 will have a Snapdragon 855 processor: Steve Hemmerstoffer a.k.a. OnLeaks first mentioned it back in June. So this Geekbench result actually confirms the info.
Benchmarked as the Samsung SM-A908N, the phone runs Android 9 Pie and has 6GB of RAM. The motherboard which is “msmnile” is the same we have seen for other devices powered by the Snapdragon 855.
The SM-A908N scored 3458 points in the single-core test and 10852 points in the multi-core test. The scores are also similar to that of other devices powered by the same chipset.
Like the Note10 Pro, the A90 5G version also supports 45w ultra-fast charging.
The SM-A908N is most likely to be the Korean model since there is an “N” at the end of the model number. OnLeaks said this particular version also has a 6.7-inch screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor, 48MP + 8MP +5MP triple rear cameras, and 5G support. Ice Universe also said back in June that the A90 5G version will have support for 45W fast charging. It is believed this model will be exclusive to Samsung’s home country.
The other Galaxy A90 which will be available in other markets will also have a Snapdragon 855 processor, the same display and fingerprint scanner but a 48MP + 12MP +5MP triple camera setup and an exclusive feature called “Tilt OIS”.

Monaco has launched the next-generation 5G mobile network technology and with that, it has become the first country in Europe to launch the 5G network based on the technology supplied from China-based Huawei.
The development comes at a time when the United States has banned Huawei citing national security and has been lobbying its allies to drop Huawei for the development of infrastructure for the next-gen communications technology.
As the technology is slowing shifting away from 3G and 4G towards the adoption of 5G, Europe has been torn over the approach of using Huawei’s equipment as the Chinese giant is a pioneer in the 5G technology.
Last year, in September, Monaco Telecom, which is owned by French billionaire Xavier Niel, had signed an agreement with Huawei to make the tiny principality the first country in Europe fully covered by 5G. During the inauguration ceremony, Monaco Telecom president Etienne Franzi said: “We are the first state to be entirely covered by a 5G network. In Monaco, the 5G is the promise of a better quality of life for all and exceptional opportunities.”
Defending the decision of using equipment from Chinese telecom giant Huawei, Monaco Telecom’s director-general Martin Peronnet said in May last year that “there are many countries and operators that are in the process of finalizing a 5G roll-out with Huawei or who have already done so.”
Huawei’s involvement in the roll-out of 5G networks has become a political issue after the United States raised concerns over potential security risks and pushed its closest allies to reject the Chinese firm.
US intelligence agencies believe Huawei is backed by the Chinese military and that its equipment could provide Beijing’s intelligence services with a back door into the communications networks of rival countries. However, Huawei has denied all these claims and the United States have provided no evidence to back its allegations.
Huawei claims that it has signed 50 contracts worldwide, including 28 with European operators, for the 5G technology. South Korea has already announced complete nationwide 5G coverage while in Europe smaller nations like Switzerland, Finland and Estonia have started deploying the technology.

While we really still don’t know that much about HongMeng OS as of right now, we’re still hearing about it a lot. The latest bit of news regarding Huawei‘s upcoming OS comes straight from StrategyAnalytics. According to them, Huawei’s latest efforts in Hongmeng OS will undermine Android’s absolute dominance over the smarphone market, especially in China.
There’s also a small mention of iOS dipping slightly this year, and stabilizing by 2020, but Huawei is mainly the focus here. It’s quite fascinating to see that analysts think HongMeng OS will be big enough to even make a dent on Android. We’ve heard so much news about HongMeng OS, that it’s ludicrous how we’ve yet to see any clear leaks of it.
This really adds some suspense and anticipation as to what the future holds for Google’s Android. We’ve always seen the act of making an Android alternative to be kind of pointless. Now we’re not just hearing otherwise, we’re actually seeing an actual challenge for Google. This truly one of the most interesting developments we’ve seen in the mobile market.
Now, we say this, but chances are Android will be perfectly fine after this. The actual chances of Hongmeng harming Android’s profitability is absolutely tiny, even if they affect Google’s marketshare. The sheer possibility of it happening however is terrifying, and could really completely shake up the market the same way Android did so many years ago. For now however, we’ll have to wait until HDC 2019 to find out more about Hongmeng OS.
Earlier today, Honor President Zhao Ming posted a photo of the Honor offices over on Weibo. Through this, we get our very first look at the latest version of the Honor Magicbook, and it has some extremely thin bezels this time around! Along with that, we’ve got another look at the Honor 9X, and also a possible look at an Honor TV!
First, let’s take a closer look at the brand new Honor Magicbook since it’s there are plenty of details to make out here. First off, we’ve got some new extremely thin bezels around the device’s display. There’s also no front camera in sight, which probably means we’ll be seeing Honor’s laptop pop-up camera make a grand return. As for specs, we can probably expect the Intel i5-8265U with an NVIDIA MX250 GPU, with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD.
Next up, there’s the Honor 9X that’s sitting on the table next to the Magicbook. We’ve already heard a lot about the Honor 9X, so the picture doesn’t really reveal all that much other than the twilight colour scheme. The Honor 9X is set to launch on the 23rd of July, and it’ll have some pretty hefty specs. You can find a full rundown of the specs over here.
Last but not least, we’ve got the blocked out and inconspicuous TV sitting in the corner. The fact that it’s blocked by a sticker could simply mean that it’s got sensitive information on it, but there’s also a chance it’s concealing a possible new Honor TV! While there’s nothing concrete about it, seeing an Honor TV could be really interesting in the future.

Recently, Trump had announced that the US-based companies will be allowed to continue doing business with the Chinese giant Huawei as long as the products do not threaten the national security of the United States.
Now, US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has confirmed that the U.S. government is now all set to issue licenses to the companies that are seeking to sell American-made products to China’s Huawei where there’s no threat to the national security. However, he has not revealed which products will pass muster.
As said, the decision to allow companies to do business with the world’s leading telecommunications equipment maker Huawei comes after Trump’s comments during the G20 summit.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had signed an executive order to place China-based Huawei on the Commerce Department’s so-called Entity List in May over national security concerns. This move effectively banned American companies from doing any kind of business with Huawei.
While the decision to allow US companies to do business with Huawei was welcomed by American chipmakers, many industry and government officials were confused. Speaking at an annual department conference in Washington, Wilbur Ross affirmed that the company would remain on the Entity List.
This means that licenses would likely be denied and that the new policy would not change the scope of items requiring licenses. However, he also said there would be some approvals. He said: “To implement the president’s G20 summit directive two weeks ago, Commerce will issue licenses where there is no threat to U.S. national security. Within those confines, we will try to make sure that we don’t just transfer revenue from the U.S. to foreign firms.”
After Huawei was banned by the U.S., the semiconductor industry lobbied the government for carve-outs to sell nonsensitive items that Huawei could easily buy abroad. They argued that a blanket ban would harm American companies.
Many believe that the ban on Huawei is not related to any concerns about national security but to have an upper hand in the US-China trade war. If it was just about U.S. national security, it would not have launched a lobbying effort to persuade U.S. allies to keep Huawei out of next-generation 5G telecommunications infrastructure.

Oukitel Y4800 is was announced back in May and is the first member of the new “Young Series” (Y stands for Young). The device comes with a Samsung 48MP AI camera and the powerful mid-range SoC Helio P70 together with Young OS based on Android 9 Pie. The Global 1st presale will be held from July 22nd to July 29th offering early buyers $50 off the retail price of $249.99. Of course, the killer feature is the 48MP camera, so let’s take a look at the test conducted by Oukitel Lab between the Y4800 and Redmi Note 7.
The Y4800 sorts the Samsung GM1 48MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture. That’s 4 times higher than the mainstream 12MP sensors. When in 48MP mode, the single pixel is 0.8µm which allows you to take wonderful photos with better resolution. As always, the MP count don’t matter a lot if the sensor itself is small in size and for that reason, Samsung made it big enough to take advantage as more light as possible. The sensor size of the GM1 48MP sensor reaches to 1/2 inch, 56% larger than normal 1/2.8inch sensors. Also, 48MP mean large resolution and that becomes handy when cropping or zooming in photos. The front camera also adopts a Samsung 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
No one will claim that a $250 phone shoots better photos than a $1K flagship but the difference between these two isn’t that big. The Oukitel Y4800 takes comparatively good photos with the rear camera. No matter the exposure, white balance, or sharpness, Y4800 handles quite good. The color is improved to be brighter to a certain degree, and due to the 1/2 inch large sensor size, the dynamic range is excellent.
As for the rest of the specs, there is a 6.3″ FHD+ waterdrop display and the Helio P70 SoC is backed by 6GB of RAM plus 128GB of storage. This combination is unprecedented in this price category and that makes the Y4800 unbeatable. Also, there is a 4000mAh battery that the Young OS takes perfect advantage of, resulting in excellent battery performance. If you are looking for a long standby smartphone with a good camera, go ahead and add it to your wishlist before the presale starts to be informed when it goes live.
