Huawei patents a smartphone with slider design and dual front-facing cameras

Many smartphone manufacturers have launched smartphones with retractable cameras, including Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi with their Vivo NEX, Oppo Find X, and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. Samsung is also said to launch Galaxy A90 with a pop-up camera.

Now, it seems that Huawei is also jumping the bandwagon. While its sub-brand Honor has already launched a phone with a similar mechanism — Honor Magic 2, Huawei is yet to launch a phone with a retractable camera.

Huawei Slider Phone Patent

Huawei has filed a patent for a smartphone with a sliding mechanism, suggesting that the Chinese company is exploring the possibility of slider-based smartphone design.

In a patent design published earlier this month in the Global Design Database of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) by Huawei Technologies shows a full-screen smartphone with a slider camera.

The phone, with an almost borderless design with rounded corners, houses the speaker-grille in the narrow bezel. The camera is extendable and offers space for a dual selfie camera, with a flash in the middle. On the back, there is room for two cameras and a flash.

There’s no fingerprint sensor on the phone’s back panel, which may indicate that it will be placed under the display. Another possibility is that it is included in the power button.

Since most of the premium smartphones come with three or more camera sensors on the back, we are assuming that this will be a mid-range device. It’s not yet known within which series this Huawei phone will be placed if it actually gets introduced. The company recently filed trademark applications for P Smart X and P Smart Z, and this patent design of a smartphone could be a part of the upcoming P Smart lineup.

Huawei Nova 4e to debut with 32MP front camera soon

The Huawei P20 series from last year included P20 and P20 Pro flagship phones and P20 Lite mid-range device. The latter was released Nova 3e handset in China. It appears that the company will be using the same strategy this year as it has teased the arrival of Nova 4e for China. Through a Weibo post, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that it will be soon debuting the Nova 4e smartphone in China. The same phone is expected to release as P30 Lite in European countries.

The above snapshot taken from a recently shared video teaser reveals that the forthcoming Huawei Nova 4e will be equipped with 32-megapixel stereo beauty front-facing camera. It appears that the phone is equipped with a waterdrop-style notch display. The teaser does not reveal much on its design. However, since the company has confirmed on it’s the next Nova phone, the handset is expected to sport an impressive design like the predecessor Nova series of smartphones.

In the recent past, the TENAA telecom authority from China had approved a Huawei phone with model numbers MAR-AL00 and MAR-TL00. Through the TENAA listing, the images of the phone were leaked. Also, minimum information on the specs of the phone were revealed. Since the MAR-AL00/TL00 phone is equipped with a waterdrop notch screen, it appears that it could be the upcoming Huawei Nova 4e.

So far, it is known that the Nova 4e has a 6.15-inch display that supports full HD+ resolution, a triple camera setup on its rear, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and 3,240mAh battery. It is very likely to be fueled by the Kirin 710 chipset. Since it will be a non-flagship device, it is likely to be priced around 2,000 Yuan.

The existence of the Huawei Nova 4e was recently confirmed through its appearance in the listing of upcoming phones on Tmall. The listing revealed that the phone would be available on the Chinese retailer site by late March. It may go official before the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro smartphones that are scheduled to go official on March 26 in Paris, France.

Honor 20 Render reveals Triple cameras, should sport indisplay Fingerprint Sensor

After releasing the Honor V20 late last year, we haven’t heard much about other models from the brand. That changes today, as we have got some fresh information about the upcoming Honor 20 smartphone. The phone should succeed Honor 10 that was launched back in April 2018.

Serial leakster, iChangezone recently gave us a brief glimpse of the Honor 20 in the form of high-quality HD renders.

So it’s being said that the phone will feature the sixth generation screen fingerprint sensor. Further, the rumored smartphone is said to house 48MP, 20MP, and 8MP cameras that support triple optical zoom. Up front, the Glory 20 could feature a 32MP selfie camera. This phone is highly likely to be ranked on DxO in the near future.

As for the internals, you can expect to find the flagship Kirin 980 processor inside. Aside from that, the Glory 20 is said to boast an impressive array of features including Gaming+, a stand-alone HiFi chip, headphone jack, AI dual-frequency GPS, GPU Turbo, CPU Turbo, and Link Turbo. There should be a 6.1-inch OLED waterdrop display too. Finally, the phone is expected to draw its juices from a robust 3650mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charge. The pricing is said to start with 6+128GB at 2999 Yuan ($447), 8+128GB at 3399 Yuan ($507), and 8+256GB at 3799 Yuan ($566).

OnePlus 7 3D renders and 360° video reveals pop-up selfie cam and triple rear cameras

The OnePlus 7 is a hotly anticipated device that is not expected to launch until the second half of the year. That is still pretty far away but you don’t have to wait that long to know what it will look like.

OnePlus 7 3D render

Steve Hemmerstoffer, the popular leaker that goes by the Twitter handle @OnLeaks has released 3D renders and a 360° video of the next OnePlus flagship phone. This time, he has partnered with Indian tech blog, Pricebaba.

A few months ago, a live photo of a device said to be the OnePlus 7 was posted on the web. It showed the phone with an edge-to-edge display without a notch or punch hole. It was reported to have a slider design which means the selfie camera and a couple of other sensors are behind the screen.

[envira-gallery id=”239180″]

These renders do confirm that the OnePlus 7 does have a bezel-less display but not a slider design. Instead, it has a pop-up selfie camera just like the Vivo NEX and Vivo V15 Pro. The selfie camera slides out of the left side of the frame. The OnePlus 7 isn’t totally bezel-less as it has a bit of bezel at the bottom of its 6.5-inch display.

On the back, the OnePlus 7 sports a triple camera setup which is arranged vertically. In between the second and third sensor is the laser focus module. The camera housing is raised and an LED sensor sits outside the setup. There is no fingerprint scanner on the back which means the in-display fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 6T is making a comeback. The back of the phone is covered in glass. Unfortunately, it will not have support for wireless charging.

The right side of the phone is home to the alert slider and power button while the volume rocker is on the left. There is a USB type-C port at the bottom which is flanked by a speaker grille on one side.

Vivo V15 launches in Thailand: packs a 32MP selfie camera, Helio P70 SoC & a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner

When the Vivo V15 Pro was announced in India last month, we thought it would bring along the non-pro model – the Vivo V15, but it didn’t. Vivo has now announced the V15 in Thailand.

Vivo V15 featured

The Vivo V15 has a larger 6.53-inch 1080 x 2340 display covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. Just like the Pro model, it doesn’t have a notch and a punch hole but it also doesn’t have an in-display fingerprint scanner. Powering the Vivo V15 is an Helio P70 processor which is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage (256GB max.).

The V15 also comes with a 32MP f/2.0 pop-up selfie camera and on its back is a 12MP f/1.78 + 8MP f/2.2 + 5MP f/2.4 triple camera setup. There are lots of camera modes and features including super wide-angle mode, AR stickers, body shape adjustment, and scene recognition. The phone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

[envira-gallery id=”239181″]

Due to its bigger display, it packs a larger 4,000mAh battery which also has support for Dual-Engine fast charging. There is dual SIM support, Bluetooth 4.2, and dual-band Wi-Fi. The phone runs Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9.0 out of the box. It also comes with a dedicated button for the Jovi AI Assistant.

Live images of the OPPO F11 Pro and its retail box surfaces

The F11 Pro is an upcoming mid-range phone from OPPO. About a week ago, the full specs of the phone leaked online and it revealed it will be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset. Today, live images of the phone along with that of its retail box have surfaced on the web.

[envira-gallery id=”239168″]

The OPPO F11 Pro doesn’t have a notch or punch hole and its screen stretches to the top for an edge-to-edge appearance. It is able to achieve this thanks to its pop-up selfie camera design. There is a long and thin slit in the frame for the speaker.

The OPPO F11 Pro has a dual camera setup. At the top is the LED flash and the 48MP + 5MP dual camera sensors come next. All three share a single housing covered with glass. Below the camera setup is a fingerprint scanner and the words “DESIGNED BY OPPO”.

The OPPO F11 Pro is expected to be unveiled on March 5 at an event in Mumbai. It will have a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90.9% screen-to-body ratio. The phone will come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. The pop-up selfie camera has been reported to be a 16MP sensor and the phone will have an All Ultra-Clear Engine for improved low-light images.
