Now, it seems the plans have been shifted to launch Nokia 9 Pureview by the end of this month. The decision to delay the launch is made by its chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas.

If we believe the tweet from an official source, then it contradicts the official teasers reporting its launch on December 5th in Dubai. Huawei has released a new poster on its Weibo account to confirm that it will be launching a new smartphone in the coming month. The name of the smartphone is not mentioned on the poster. However, since the company had released the Huawei Nova 2S phone in December last year, it is speculated that the Nova 3S could be arriving as its successor in the coming month.

The below shown poster only highlights the contour of the smartphone. The translation of the text mentioned below the smartphone’s design in the poster reads “pole full screen.” The top-left corner of the display has a bright spot which suggests that the phone could be equipped with in-screen camera.

Samsung has recently showcased its new display design called Infinity-O that features a hole for an in-screen camera. It is speculated that the upcoming Galaxy A8s smartphone could be the first phone from the company to arrive with in-screen camera display design.

The new poster suggests that the upcoming Huawei phone may sport the same design. Some rumors are claiming that the company may unleash Huawei Nova 4 smartphone in the coming month. The reason behind it there is a similar looking poster with Nova 4 mentioned on it has appeared on Weibo. Since the poster with Nova 4 moniker has not been officially released by Huawei, it could be a photoshopped image.

In this regard, the company has been rolling out software updates for a number of its devices in the past few weeks.

The updates are not really major ones but are extremely crucial since they come with the latest security patch. One of the models receiving the update is the Nokia 3. The new update on the device brings with it the November 2018 security patch which unfortunately doesn’t upgrade the software from Android 8.0 Oreo. Users can avail themselves of the update via OTA and it comes with a file size of 82.75MB.

In addition, the Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco also received the update with the same November 2018 security patch. At the unveiling of the Galaxy A9s and Galaxy A6s in China last month, Samsung teased a third phone called the Galaxy A8s.

The Galaxy A8s was shown to have practically no bezels in the teaser image released by Samsung. However, Ice Universe – a popular leaker known for Samsung-related leaks – revealed the phone will have a hole in its display for the front-facing camera.

Fast forward to a few weeks later, and Samsung announces a bunch of new displays that will be used in its future phones, one of them being the Infinity O display which has a hole instead of a notch.

Now, an alleged photo said to be of the Galaxy A8s’ screen protector has surfaced online and it also has a hole, further confirming that the Galaxy A8s will come with an Infinity O display.

The hole is shown to be at the top left corner of the phone. The bezels are pretty thin with the chin being a little thicker than the rest. If you look closely you should see the small gap at the top reserved for the speaker.

The Galaxy A8s will likely be the first Samsung phone to launch with an Infinity O display as there is a high chance it will be announced before the Galaxy S10 series which will also have the same type of display.

LG files trademark application for “Flex”, “Foldi”, “Duplex”, “Bendi” and more

Recent trademark applications filed by LG may have revealed the names of its upcoming phones including foldable smartphones. The trademarks which were filed last week include Flex, Foldi, Duplex, Bendi, Solid, Solidis, XB, and XF.

All the trademarks belong to class 9 of the Nice classification and are all for smartphones. For some of the trademarks, it is easy to deduce what sort of design the phone will have while for others, not so much.

For example, the LG Flex and LG Foldi phones will have flexible and foldable screens albeit with different designs. Also, the LG Duplex is likely the LG phone with an extendable display. This second display hides behind the primary one and when the user needs more screen estate, it can be pulled out.

LG Bendi is likely another phone with a flexible display but one that doesn’t fold completely. The LG Solid and LG Solidis are rumored to be rugged smartphones that will probably be the first of a new series of LG phones.

Last comes the LG XB and LG XF. There is an LG X Screen smartphone that was released back in 2016 with a second screen above the primary one, so there is a chance these two are successors.

LG receives patent for a phone with sixteen rear cameras

This year we have seen the record for most cameras on the back of a phone get broken twice. Currently, Samsung holds the record with its Galaxy A9 (2018) which has four rear cameras but HMD Global is set on taking the title with the upcoming Nokia 9 which has 5 rear cameras. New reports have shown that LG has plans to also claim the title and set the bar so high up, it will be pretty difficult for any other manufacturer to beat it.

Last week, precisely November 20, LG was granted the patent for a phone with sixteen rear cameras! The patent was granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The images in the patent show the cameras are arranged in a 4×4 grid.

It is said that users will be able to choose and combine multiple lenses together before taking a picture or even combine multiple parts of photos taken by the different cameras into a single one or a moving image.

The 16 cameras can also be used to take selfie photos as the patent says the mobile phone can have a sort of “mirror” integrated on the back or even a secondary display. Notwithstanding, the phone will still have a front camera for video calls or regular selfies.

Fast forward to 2018 and the other chip makers such as Samsung with its new Exynos 9820 and Huawei with its Kirin 980 have now jumped on the tri-cluster arrangement. A new leak has revealed Qualcomm will also be doing the same with the Snapdragon 8150 set for release next month.

The info comes from an image shared on Twitter by Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), that reveals the Snapdragon 8150 will have 8-cores arranged in a 1+3+4 tri-cluster.

According to the image, the Snapdragon 8150 will have 1 Kryo Gold Prime core with a 512KB L2 cache clocked at 2.842GHz, 3 Kryo Gold cores with a 256KB L2 cache per core with a maximum frequency of 2.419GHz and 4 low-power Kryo Silver cores with a 128KB L2 cache per core clocked at 1.786GHz.

Durability test shows the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is practically scratch proof

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is one of the top smartphones released this year. It has triple rear cameras that are pretty impressive, a powerful processor, and a large battery capacity. A durability test has now revealed the phone is also scratch proof. At least the back is.

JerryRigEverything, the popular YouTube channel known for putting phones through different cringe-worthy tests to check their durability is the source of the new info.

The Mate 20 Pro is covered in Glass on both sides but while the front is Gorilla Glass we are not sure if the back is. The front glass scratches but the glass back…….not at all and there is a reason for that.

Most phones with a glass back are fingerprint magnets and to avoid that, Huawei decided to make the glass on the back of the Mate 20 Pro textured instead of plain smooth. So you have multiple lines with grooves running across the back.

The textured glass not only prevents the phone from looking like a complete mess from the oil and sweat from your palms, but it also protects the phone from scratches. In the durability test video, Zack tried multiple times to scratch it and not a single scratch appeared.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro doesn’t do well in the bend test and that is as a result of its curved display. So you may want to take great care to avoid sitting on it. However, you shouldn’t worry if your toddler decides to drag the back of the phone across the floor.

The Mate 20 Pro has a 6.39-inch 1440 x 3120 screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Kirin 980 processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Design

If you decide to buy one of these devices, do not expect a flagship-class design. Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 both come with a full metal unibody design, while Huawei Y9 (2019) is equipped with a more attractive multi-layer plastic back which seems glass. And it also has a higher screen-to-body ratio. That is why if you want the best design you should go for the Huawei Y9 (2019). But remember that it has bigger dimensions.

Display

With narrower bezels and a higher screen size, Huawei Y9 (2019) has the most comfortable display. But the quality is more or less the same as its opponents, more than sufficient but nothing spectacular. It offers a Full HD+ resolution just like Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, so it has more or less the same level of detail.

Specs & Software

Talking about hardware and performance, Huawei Y9 (2019) is the winner once again. Its chipset makes the difference as it is the new 12 nm Kirin 710, paired with up to 6 GB of RAM. On the other hand, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro offer a lower energy consumption with their Snapdragon 636.

Camera

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has the most outstanding camera department, even though it is not a high-end camera phone. It has a total of four cameras: two on the front and two on the back, with bright apertures and high resolutions. It is very good to capture depth info but it is not recommended for shots in low light conditions.

Battery

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is an outsider when it comes to the battery life, and it is able to last much longer on a single charge thanks to its 5000 mAh unit. It is not only the winner in this trio but also one of the phones with the highest battery life. But its opponents are still excellent with their 4000 mAh batteries.

Price

I would personally pick Huawei Y9 (2019) because of its better aesthetics, bigger display, and great performance, but it costs a bit more. It was launched with a price tag of €220, while Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro cost €160 and €190, respectively.

FCC images show Xiaomi’s Mi True Wireless Earphones is a rip-off of the AirPods

Xiaomi announced its first truly wireless earbuds called the AirDots a few weeks ago. Apart from the name which obviously was inspired by Apple’s AirPods, the earbuds look nothing like Apple’s popular earphones. Latest reports have now revealed Xiaomi is actually making an AirPods lookalike and it has gotten its FCC certification.

The FCC documents are now available for public viewing and they reveal a pair of wireless earbuds that look a lot like the AirPods. However, the documents have revealed it is named Mi True Wireless Earphones.

The Mi True Wireless Earphones is a mashup of the AirPods (white coat and protruding stems) and Xiaomi’s Mi In-Ear Headphones (round speakers). And unlike the AirPods its speakers are covered with silicone ear tips. The FCC documents reveal there are three different sizes of ear tips.

The images also show that the case of the Mi True Wireless Earphones has a multi-function button on the side and a USB-C port for charging underneath. Apple’s second-generation AirPods is also said to have a USB-C charging port instead of a lightning port.

Unknown Lenovo model packing triple rear cameras pops up on TENAA

Lenovo’s VP is quite notorious for peddling misleading teasers about upcoming phones that usually end up leaving us with mixed feelings of excitement and disappointment. While the disappointment stems from the flagship features Chang Cheng’s Weibo posts suggest, the phones still leaves us excited as a result of their beautiful designs and impressive hardware. The latest is the Z5 Pro that came with a slider design. A new Lenovo model has just been spotted at TENAA bearing a triple camera setup at the rear.

With the Z5 Pro, we had thought Lenovo’s R&D was done for the year but the new TENAA pictures that may not be the case. The device will obviously not feature the slider design as there is a water drop notch at the top of the display which houses the selfie camera. The earpiece is tucked between the rim and the panel.

At the rear, the design is similar to the Huawei P20 Pro and Honor Magic 2. Two of the cameras are housed separately while the third sensor is located slightly apart with the LED flash just underneath. The Lenovo model equally features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, the TENAA listing only includes the pictures. The specifications of the device were not included. We’ll keep you updated when the key specs are listed.

New live photo shows the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 together

Last week, hands-on photos of a phone said to be the Pixel 3 Lite were posted online. The images gave us our very first look at Google‘s expectedly cheaper and less-powerful phone. A new photo has again been shared online and this one shows it side-by-side with the Pixel 3.

Looking at the image, it is easy to see the differences between the Pixel 3 Lite and the Pixel 3. In terms of size, both phones appear to be of the same height although the Pixel 3 Lite seems narrower but that could just be a matter of perspective.

Other notable differences are the lack of a speaker below the screen and also a missing secondary selfie camera.

The Pixel 3 Lite is said to have a 5.65-inch LCD display. Compared to the Pixel 3, the display of the lite version is less curved at the corners. The color reproduction also doesn’t match the OLED screen of the Pixel 3.

The Pixel 3 Lite is said to come with a Snapdragon 670 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. It also has an audio jack, a 2,915mAh battery, and a 12.2MP rear camera, reportedly the same as that of the Pixel 3.
