For benchmark comparison, we have taken into account results provided by Qualcomm for the Snapdragon 8 Elite. For Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, we have the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is significantly ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, it couldn’t defeat the Apple A18 Pro, though it handsomely leaves behind the MediaTek Dimensity 9400.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite shines in its full glory when it comes to multi-core results on Geekbench. Not only does it outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but also the Apple A18 Pro, and that too by a good margin.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is leading the chart again. Interestingly, MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is neck-to-neck with the Elite chip. However, both chips are powerful enough to beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple A18 Pro by a significant margin on AnTuTu.
Snapdragon 8 Elite vs. 8 Gen 3: CPU
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is fabbed on TSMC’s 3nm process, while its predecessor uses a 4nm process node. This fabrication node shift benefits raw performance and power efficiency.
Another big change to the Snapdragon 8 Elite is the debut of Qualcomm’s Oryon cores. Oryon came into existence earlier this year for Windows laptops, which surprised with power efficiency. Now, Qualcomm is bringing that performance and efficiency leap to mobile devices with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Notably, the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips for laptops use first-gen Oryon cores. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite uses second-gen Oryon cores.
The Prime Oryon core inside the Snapdragon 8 Elite has a 4.32GHz peak clock speed (vs. 3.3GHz on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3). The other six cores also run at a higher clock speed. Snapdragon 8 Elite has 24MB of cache memory, the largest on a mobile chipset.

Vivo recently launched its flagship devices, the X200 and X200 Pro, with a focus on advanced camera and AI capabilities. However, soon after the release, several users reported issues with excessive lens flares when using the X200 Pro’s main camera, sparking discussions across social media. The company’s Vice President, Huang Tao, has since addressed these concerns, offering insights into the cause and potential solutions.
According to Huang Tao, the lens flare issue is due to the phone’s large f/1.57 aperture, which, while improving low-light performance, makes the camera more susceptible to lens flares caused by bright light sources outside the frame (also noted as off-screen glare). The issue is particularly noticeable when light hits the lens at specific angles, causing off-screen glare that appears more prominent than in other devices.
This is compounded by changes to the camera’s coating technology. While the new coating reduces typical radial or petal glare, it compromises on handling blue spectrum light, which contributes to the visible flares.
Fortunately, Vivo is working on a fix
Huang Tao acknowledged the oversight, mentioning that the problem was not adequately identified during initial testing. To address this, Vivo is preparing an OTA software update that aims to reduce the severity of these flares through optimization.
Additionally, the company plans to introduce hardware adjustments for users facing persistent issues, including peripheral accessories to further mitigate the problem.

The Pro model is also expected to support faster charging speeds. According to a previously leaked spec sheet, the Pro model supports 80W fast charging.
Lastly, the camera setup on the Xiaomi 15 Pro will likely include a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 5x optical zoom telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide sensor, promising versatile photography capabilities.
Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch the Xiaomi 15 series on October 29. The line will be joined by the Ultra model in early 2025. While its details have surfaced gradually, we now get a first look at the phone through renders shared by SmartPrix.
The renders show a large camera module on the back, similar to its predecessor. However, the camera placement within the module stands out for its asymmetrical lens design.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a unique camera module
According to the source, the lone top camera will be the highlight this year. It is a 200-megapixel, 4.3x zoom periscope telephoto lens. That’s quite a step up from the 50MP telephoto in the 14 Ultra. The image sensor used here is likely Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9.
Below this, there are three lenses arranged horizontally — a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 50-megapixel 2x telephoto sensor. The front camera is expected to be 32 megapixels.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is also rumored to feature a 6.7-inch, 120Hz LTPO OLED display with micro-curved edges. The display will also house an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for convenient and secure unlocking.
The 15 Ultra is said to come in three material finishes — plain leather, fiberglass, or ceramic, offering a variety of options to suit different preferences and styles.
Under the hood, the phone will likely use the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for powerful performance. It may also pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. On the software side, it’s expected to run Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15.
We are still missing price details. A price increase is expected for all Snapdragon 8 Elite phones this year. If the soon-to-be-launched Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro see a price increase, it’s reasonable to expect a similar rise for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The highly anticipated OnePlus 13 will be launched in China on October 31, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Ahead of its release, an unboxing video has revealed confirming design elements and key features of the device. OnePlus has also shared a video in the company’s official video revealing the design elements in detail.
Enhanced cooling system for sustained performance
OnePlus has introduced a second-generation Tiangong cooling system in the OnePlus 13, emphasizing its ability to handle heavy workloads. This system includes a new 9925mm² VC heat dissipation plate, a double-layer 2K graphite sheet, and stacked thermally conductive gel technology.
The setup is designed to reduce the SoC temperature by up to 7°C, thanks to precise temperature management via AI and 14 dedicated sensors. These improvements enable the device to maintain consistent performance during intensive tasks, which was demonstrated in a recent Genshin Impact test, where the OnePlus 13 achieved over 60fps on average in a 30-minute session.
Power and performance
The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset offers significant power efficiency and performance improvements over its predecessor. This SoC features better thermal management, allowing for longer sustained peak performance without throttling. Additionally, the OnePlus 13 is expected to house a large 6,000mAh battery, supporting 100W wired fast charging and 50W magnetic wireless charging, ensuring quick recharges and prolonged usage time.
Display and camera specs
The OnePlus 13 will sport a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO display, which supports a 120Hz refresh rate and high peak brightness, offering users smooth visuals and vivid colors. On the back, it retains a triple-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Collaborating with Hasselblad, OnePlus is likely to bring advanced imaging features and enhancements, improving overall photography quality.
With its advanced cooling, powerful chipset, and sleek design, the OnePlus 13 is shaping up to be a significant contender in the flagship smartphone market. The official launch on October 31 will reveal more details, especially about its global availability and additional features.
Following Qualcomm‘s unveiling of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Android manufacturers are quickly lining up to launch their most powerful devices. While several brands confirmed phones featuring the chip, all eyes were on Xiaomi, long rumored to be the first to market.
Living up to the speculation, Xiaomi has officially announced the launch of its Xiaomi 15 series on October 29th in China.
However, Xiaomi’s lead may be short-lived. Honor will unveil its Magic 7 series, and iQOO its iQOO 13, on October 30. Similarly, OnePlus will reveal the OnePlus 13 on October 31, and Realme’s GT 7 Pro will debut on November 4 in China. Asus and Nubia have also confirmed upcoming gaming phones powered by the same chip.
We are expecting Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro
Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro smartphones on October 29th. The top-tier model, however, will be the Ultra, which will launch next year.

3. Performance
The OnePlus 13R is expected to pack a punch in the performance segment. The phone is likely to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, making it a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the OnePlus 12R.

Additionally, the device is expected to support 100W SuperVOOC fast charging, ensuring rapid recharging times.
6. Software
OnePlus 13R is expected to run on OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15. OxygenOS has always been known for its clean, smooth and bloat-free interface. Users can expect new software features, improved customization options, and better performance optimization in this version.
7. Pricing and Availability
While pricing details haven’t been confirmed yet, the OnePlus 13R is likely to be positioned as an affordable flagship, similar to the OnePlus 12R. It could be priced between $500-$600, making it competitive against other mid-range devices with high-end features. The launch is expected to follow the China release of the OnePlus Ace 5, possibly early next year. The 13R could make its debut in the Indian market first, followed by a broader global launch.
8. Conclusion
The OnePlus 13R appears to be an enticing upgrade, particularly for those seeking flagship-level performance at a reasonable price. With a faster chipset, improved camera setup, larger battery, and refined design, the device could set a new benchmark in the mid-range segment.
