Qualcomm is reportedly to introduce its latest addition to the Snapdragon lineup, a tone-downed version of the existing Snapdragon X Plus, during a press conference on September 4 at the IFA 2024 exhibition in Berlin.
This event, led by Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, is set to showcase the first 8-core processor built on the Oryon architecture, specifically targeting the CoPilot+ notebooks market under $800.
An affordable alternative to the original 10-core X Elite
The Snapdragon X Plus (model X1P-42-100) is expected to be a more affordable alternative to the Snapdragon X Elite and the existing 10-core X Plus. Featuring an 8-core Oryon CPU built on a 4nm process, this new chip is designed to balance performance and cost, making it ideal for mid-range laptops popular with budget-conscious consumers.
Reports indicate that the Snapdragon X Plus will offer clock speeds of up to 3.4GHz on a single core and 3.2GHz in multi-core operations. The GPU integrated within this chip is an Adreno variant, capable of delivering 1.7 TFLOPS of computing power. This is notably less than the 3.8 TFLOPS offered by the flagship models, but it should still be sufficient for standard graphics workloads.
In terms of memory, the Snapdragon X Plus supports LPDDR5X RAM with a total cache of 30MB, compared to the 42MB found in the more premium X Plus variants.
Additionally, the chip will retain several key features from its more expensive counterparts, including the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, which provides 45 TOPS of AI performance, and the Always-Sensing ISP for improved camera processing.
Connectivity options remain robust, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G, ensuring that devices powered by the Snapdragon X Plus will stay current with the latest wireless technologies. The chip also supports up to three external 4K displays at 60Hz, which should appeal to users looking to build a more extensive desktop setup.

Android 15 is still under development, so not even the latest Pixel 9 series runs it out of the box. Meanwhile, brands are already working on the next major upgrade for their custom skins, like ColorOS 15 for Oppo. Even the OnePlus phones sold in China run ColorOS.
ColorOS 15 (based on Android 15) is already under development. According to leaks, it will bring a major redesign to the lock screen and notification panel and a host of new features and improvements. There will also be new features and enhancements from Android 15.
There are plenty of new things to be excited about in the next major upgrade. But when will it start rolling out, and is your device eligible for it? Here’s everything you need to know about ColorOS 15.
ColorOS 15 Release Date
Neither OnePlus nor Oppo have made any announcement regarding the ColorOS 15 release. However, the companies will reportedly start recruiting people for the ColorOS 15 beta testing in the coming days.
Last year, Oppo released ColorOS 14 (based on Android 14) in November, a month after the public release of Android 14. This year, we’re also looking at the November release of the new ColorOS version, as Google has confirmed that it will release Android 15 in October.
OnePlus and Oppo have already announced Android 15 beta testing, though it’s currently open for only a few devices, including OnePlus 12, OnePlus Open, and Oppo Find N3 and Find X7. If you have any of these, sign up for the beta program (check out the steps here) and get an early taste of Android 15.

ColorOS 15 Features (Expected)
Oppo is said to bring significant design changes to key areas in ColorOS 15. That’s not all; there’ll be a bunch of improvements and some new features as well. The upgrade will also bundle many features from Android 15.
Redesigned Lock Screen
The ColorOS 15 is said to have a revamped lock screen. It might feature an iOS-like depth effect. As per a leaked screenshot (see below), users can reposition the clock and choose from multiple clock fonts. They can also add widgets to the lock screen.
Redesigned Control Center
The leaked screenshot suggests that the ColorOS 15 might also get a redesigned Control Center with bigger Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles. The music player has been resized and positioned to the left.
The leaked ColorOS 15 control center resembles the HyperOS skin in Xiaomi phones.
New Icons and Wallpapers
Like every year, Oppo will redesign the default icons and introduce more wallpapers in ColorOS 15 to improve the user experience. The leaked screenshot below shows a new icon for the Gallery, Settings, and Camera app.
Improved Multitasking
The upcoming ColorOS version might also have multitasking improvements. Additionally, the upgrade may allow users to create shortcuts for their favourite pair of split-screen apps. This is an Android 15 feature that could be integrated into the next upgrade.
Theft Detection Lock
This is not a ColorOS 15-specific feature but an Android 15 feature to stop thieves from stealing your data.
The Theft Detection Lock feature uses Google’s AI to determine when your device has been snatched from your hands. If it detects this, the device will lock itself automatically, preventing thieves from stealing your data. The best part is that thieves won’t be able to activate the device until they have your Google account details.
Snatching/stealing Android phones and selling them off for some money is a common practice among thieves, but Android 15 reduces the incentive by making the device unusable without the correct Google account details.
Satellite Connectivity Support
Android 15 “extends platform support for satellite connectivity.” It provides support for SMS, MMS, and native RCS apps to use satellite connectivity for sending and receiving messages.
The new OS adds some UI elements to ensure a consistent user experience. All Android 15 phones may not support satellite connectivity, as they will likely require special chip and carrier support.
More AI Features
Smartphone brands are competing to offer the best AI features. ColorOS 14 already has some AI features; we expect more of them in the upcoming ColorOS 15. Though not many details are out, the phones may get Gemini AI integration as a part of Android 15.
App Archiving
It’s an Android 15 feature that will allow users to uninstall unnecessary apps while keeping the user data around. It works similarly to offloading apps on iPhones. There won’t be any data loss; you can continue where you left off after reinstalling/unarchiving the app.
Android already has app archiving via the Google Play Store, allowing you to archive and restore apps. However, Android 15 integrates this feature at the OS level, allowing users to archive/restore apps, even those installed outside of the Google Play Store.

Samsung‘s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, previously shrouded in codenames like “Z Fold Slim” and “Z Fold Ultra,” is at the center of another rumor today. This time, the focus is on S Pen support.
A new leak by usually reliable tipster Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter) suggests that the foldable might indeed be compatible with Samsung’s stylus. This contradicts earlier reports that said otherwise. However, it’s important to note that neither of these rumors has been confirmed by Samsung, so it’s best to remain cautious.
Even if the S Pen support materializes, it doesn’t necessarily translate to a dedicated housing slot within the phone itself. Users, like with the Galaxy Z Fold6, would likely need to carry the S Pen separately.
The likely reason is space constraints. Unlike the S24 Ultra with its built-in S Pen garage, foldables simply lack the internal real estate to accommodate such a feature. Adding a dedicated slot could require compromises, such as reducing battery size or increasing the phone’s thickness – or both.
Beyond the S Pen speculation, there are other rumors about the Special Edition. It’s expected to feature a 200MP main camera, which would be impressive for a foldable.
The phone is also rumored to be very thin, measuring just 4.9mm when unfolded and 10.6mm when folded. The display sizes are said to be generous as well, with an 8-inch main screen and a 6.5-inch cover display.
While these rumored specs sound exciting, it’s important to remember that they are still just rumors. Samsung has not officially revealed the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, so details – including S Pen support – could change. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Samsung to get the full picture of this intriguing foldable.
Huawei is soon expected to launch the Mate 70 series smartphones. While their details have been scarce compared to previous launches, a new leak has revealed some design and hardware changes for the top-tier Mate 70 Pro smartphone.
The most notable change appears to be on the rear of the phone. As per a render shared by TechBoilers, the phone seems to retain the signature circular camera module of the Mate 60 Pro, but with a thicker outer glass ring.
The LED flash has been relocated to the bottom of the ring, accompanied by a new inscription: “AI-DC.” This inscription could mean AI-powered image processing for the camera system.
Under the hood, the leak suggests the Mate 70 Pro will be powered by a new Kirin 9100 chipset. The details of this SoC are fairly scarce at the moment, but we can expect it to offer better performance and efficiency compared to the Kirin 9000S found in the Mate 60 Pro.
The leak also details changes to the camera system. The main sensor on the Mate 70 Pro is rumored to be a 60MP unit, a bump from the 50MP sensor on the Mate 60 Pro. The 12MP ultrawide sensor and the 48MP 5x periscope telephoto lens appear to remain unchanged based on the leak.
On the front of the phone, the phone is expected to feature a 48MP sensor, replacing the 32MP unit on the Mate 60 Pro. There will also be a 3D ToF sensor for advanced facial recognition.
It’s important to note that these are just leaks, and Huawei has yet to officially confirm any details about the Mate 70 series. But if the details hold true, what do you think—are these changes enough to compete with the latest flagships from other manufacturers remains to be seen?

Vivo is preparing to launch the Y300 Pro smartphone soon. The device is confirmed to pack a monstrous 6,500mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
We may now have details about its performance, thanks to a new Geekbench listing. The device appeared on the benchmark platform with a model number V2410A.
It reveals the phone running the aging Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, a chipset already considered a step behind by some competitors. The benchmark scores back this up, with the phone achieving a multi-core score of just 2,801 and a single-core score below 1,000.
A saving grace might be the inclusion of 12GB of RAM, a healthy amount for multitasking on a mid-range device. Additionally, the phone is expected to run Android 14 out of the box, offering some future-proofing for the software side.
Beyond the battery, Vivo has officially confirmed other key details of the Y300 Pro. Its design, revealed from official teasers, seems to borrow elements from both ends of Vivo’s spectrum.
The rear panel reportedly features a “Jade Ring” camera module that echoes the flagship X100 Ultra, while incorporating the ring flash design element from the current Y200.
On the front, the device will have a 6.77-inch micro-quad-curved OLED screen with 5000 nits brightness and SGS eye protection. The Y300 Pro’s rear camera features a 50-megapixel primary camera, while it has a 32-megapixel on the front for selfies.
The phone also enhances the popular “career mode,” now in its second generation, tailored for professional use by riders, with features like enhanced hands-free calls, improved network optimization, and intelligent assistance during delivery tasks. The Y300 Pro is available in four distinct color options, such as Titanium, Gold Inlaid Jade, Mutton Fat White, and Black Jade Black.
Laptops are a great tool for anyone including software developers, video editors, writers, etc.
Most people who buy a laptop spend several hours daily getting their work done on the machine. Even though the machine is very capable of handling any tasks that you throw at it, one discomfort that can arise while using the machine for longer hours is the fact that you have to look down on your laptop ultimately causing strain on your neck.
An easy fix for this would be to get a laptop stand and keyboard/mouse accessories so that you can set up the laptop at a comfortable height on a desk or anywhere you go and work efficiently.
You will get lots of options for ergonomic keyboards and mice out there, however, when it comes to laptop stands, the options are quite basic, to be honest.
Well, you might be thinking, how many different laptop stands can there be? Ultimately, it’s just a stand!
Well, my personal experience tells a different story.
In search of a laptop stand recently, I bought a random one from Amazon, and the experience wasn’t good enough. Frustrated by this experience, I started researching the best sturdy laptop stands out there, and that’s when I came across the Alogic Elite Power Laptop Stand with Wireless Charger.
So, what’s special about this stand? Let’s find out!
Let’s start by talking design and build of the stand, as that’s the most important factor you need to consider while purchasing a laptop stand.
The Alogic Elite Power laptop stand has a square base with an arm that holds your laptop. The entire stand is made out of aluminum and has anti-slip silicone padding on the bottom-facing side of the base, for grip once you place your laptop on it.
Also, the movable arm is height adjustable up to 30 centimeters, so that you can adjust the height of how you see the laptop according to your preference. Well, this is not a unique feature by any stretch, but what’s unique is how you adjust the height.
The height-adjustable arm is locked in place using an Allen bolt, and an Allen wrench is provided in the package when you buy the stand.
Other laptop stands simply have a lock in place to adjust the height, which often breaks and offers very little confidence while placing your laptop at a height.
With the Allen bolt, the stand doesn’t wobble at all when you place the laptop and that’s confidence-inspiring.
2. Features
The stand is officially rated to handle any laptop up to 17 inches in screen size, and should comfortably hold any MacBook model you might have.
A unique feature of this laptop stand is the built-in Qi wireless charger with a maximum charging capacity of up to 10W for Android devices and up to 7.5W for Apple iPhones.
There’s a USB Type-C port on the rear side of the stand base, which can be connected to a power source to use the wireless charger. Even though a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable is provided in the retail packaging, there’s no adapter in the box.
The wireless charger even comes with a foreign-object detection safety feature, wherein if you place any foreign object on the charging pad, it will detect and produce an alert, thus avoiding damage to the charging pad and preventing issues such as overheating.
3. Price and Verdict
Talking about the pricing of the Alogic Elite Power Laptop Stand with Wireless Charger, it costs $69.99 (Rs. 5,990) on Amazon or can also be bought from the official seller website. It comes in White and Black colors.
Well, you might find cheaper alternatives for a laptop stand, but if you’re interested in a long-term investment for a laptop stand along with the added functionality of a wireless charger, without having to replace the product every few months, then spending the extra on the Alogic Elite Power Laptop Stand with Wireless Charger is recommended.
Samsung has launched the Galaxy Quantum 5, a highly secure version of its Galaxy A55 smartphone, specifically designed for the South Korean market. In collaboration with SK Telecom and ID Quantique, Samsung has equipped the Quantum 5 with a quantum cryptography security chip to enhance its online security capabilities.
ID Quantique’s Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) chip uses quantum physics to generate random numbers. Unlike traditional random number generators, which can be influenced by outside factors, QRNGs produce numbers that are truly random and unpredictable. These numbers are then used in the encryption/decryption process of sensitive data like biometrics or passwords. Other than the inclusion of the QRNG chip, the device is pretty much a Galaxy A55.
Samsung Galaxy Quantum 5 specs:
The Samsung Quantum 5 features a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Exynos 1480 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and runs on the Android 14 operating system. The device is equipped with a Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) chip from ID Quantique.
The phone’s camera setup includes a 50MP primary rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 32MP front-facing camera. Additionally, it houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging.
Pricing & availability
Priced at KRW 618,200 ($465), the Quantum 5 is available in three color options: Awesome Ice Blue, Awesome Lilac, and Awesome Navy.

After debuting the Xiaomi 14 series last year, the brand is currently working on the Xiaomi 14T series, which is said to feature two models, the Xiaomi 14T and the Xiaomi 14T Pro. According to a significant leak shared by Dealabs, which includes the full specifications and pricing details, these devices are rumored to launch in September.

Last month, OnePlus revealed the Nord Buds 3 Pro in the global market, featuring 49dB ANC, BassWave 2.0, and other impressive features. Now, tipster Yogesh Brar has claimed that another Nord series earbuds will be launching soon.

Key features expected from the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 include quality audio with competitive pricing, making them a more affordable alternative to flagship models. While the noise cancellation may not be as advanced as in the Nord Buds 3 Pro, some level of noise reduction is expected to help block out unwanted sounds. You can take a look at the spec sheet of the Nord Buds 3 Pro to get a better idea of what to expect from the vanilla model.

The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro features an IP55-certified body. In terms of audio, the Nord Buds 3 Pro is equipped with a 12.4mm titanium driver that delivers powerful bass and clear treble. It offers up to 49dB of active noise cancellation and includes smart noise cancellation that automatically adjusts based on the environment. A transparency mode allows users to stay aware of their surroundings, and the BassWave 2.0 algorithm fine-tunes bass frequencies, with the Master EQ offering three modes to choose from.
The earbuds provide up to 12 hours of playback with active noise cancellation turned off, and battery life extends to 44 hours with the charging case. They can connect to two devices simultaneously and support Bluetooth 5.4 and Google Fast Pair.

The Google Pixel Stand and Pixel Stand 2 can be a great wireless charger for Pixel owners except those who own the latest Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Now Google has shared a diagram revealing the reason why it cannot be charged using the Pixel Stand or Pixel Stand 2.
As you can see from the image below, the wireless charging coil inside the Pixel 9 Pro Fold isn’t perfectly centered as compared to most other phones that support wireless charging including the previous Pixel devices.
As the company’s wireless charging solution comes in the form of a stand instead of something like a pad on top of which you place the phone and can freely adjust, it’s not possible to align the charging coils inside. That’s why Google’s latest foldable doesn’t charge with its own wireless charger.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold works with many other wireless chargers in the market
Google confirmed that the phone should charge wirelessly with many other wireless chargers available in the market. “When you use another wireless charger, adjust the position of your phone to get it to charge. To confirm if it’s aligned correctly, check the charging indicator on your phone.” the company noted.
The company has updated the camera placement on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold as compared to the predecessor. This could be a reason behind the relocation of the wireless charging coil.
Whatever the reason is, it’s a shame that they didn’t make the necessary changes to keep the wireless charging coil in the same place and make the Pixel 9 Pro Fold compatible with the Pixel Stand 2. It’s also very inconvenient for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold users (who already own a Pixel Stand) to buy a wireless charger from another manufacturer just to charge their new Pixel wirelessly.
We hope Google addresses this alignment issue in the successor to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
