Apple May Announce A Dedicated Passwords App At WWDC

We are just a few days away from Apple’s annual WWDC (worldwide developer conference) that begins on June 10, Monday. The company is expected to unveil the next-generation operating system for its iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more. Now, a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple could introduce a new Passwords app on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. This means that the Cupertino-based tech giant could compete against the likes of LastPass, 1Password, and Dashlane.

Apple may introduce a dedicated Passwords app at WWDC

Apple’s iPhones, iPad, and Macs already have a passwords functionality. However, it is buried deep inside the Settings app on those devices. Users also have to follow a three-step process to access it. A standalone Passwords app will solve this problem and make it easier to access if you’re also new to the Apple ecosystem.

The current passwords feature in Settings is capable of storing logins, passwords, one-time passcode support, password sharing, and more. This will be available in the dedicated Passwords app as well. It will also powered by Apple’s iCloud Keychain service that syncs credentials across all devices.

Gurman reports that the Passwords app will also organize user logins in to categories like accounts, WiFi networks, and passkeys. It will also work with Windows devices and the Vision Pro headset. The app is said to support verification codes and functions similar to Google Authenticator. Additionally, Passwords app will allow importing passwords from other services like LastPass and 1Password.

Apple is expected to announce the Password app on June 10 at WWDC. It is just going to be a part of a host of announcements. iOS 18 is expected to be the key highlight of the event with a major focus on AI features. We should learn official details on Monday.

In April, Motorola launched the Edge 50 Pro smartphone in the Indian market. The brand has now teased the Edge 50 Ultra smartphone in India. The Edge 50 Ultra also made its global debut back in April.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra

In a teaser, the brand revealed that the Edge 50 Ultra will feature a wooden back finish in India. For those who may not know, Motorola has reintroduced its popular wooden backs with the Edge 50 series. These backs are crafted from real wood and have a subtle wood fragrance added. The specs of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Indian variant are expected to be the same as the global variant.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra specs:

Motorola has launched the Edge 50 Ultra in Europe, featuring a 6.67-inch curved pOLED display with a 2,712 x 1,220 pixel resolution, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and 2,500 nits peak brightness. The display supports HDR10+ and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It also includes an in-built fingerprint sensor.

The Edge 50 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The operating system is Android 14-based Hello UI.

This was shared by the company’s EVP and Head of Mobile R&D Office Woon-Joon Choi in a blog post. The Galaxy AI features are available on the Galaxy S24 series and some more phones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 to get AI features

The Samsung executive stated that the company plans to further optimize the Galaxy AI experience for the upcoming foldable devices. These are indeed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. He added that “Our foldables are the most versatile and flexible form factor in Samsung Galaxy lineup and with Galaxy AI, they will unlock all new possibilities”.

Samsung aims to revolutionize mobile experiences with a hybrid AI approach that is said to be practical and reliable to meet consumer needs. This puts the company ahead of the curve by providing instant responsiveness and extra privacy with on-device and cloud-based AI. One of the features called Live Translate is confirmed to be available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. It translates phone calls in real-time solving the issue of language barrier.

Samsung forgot to launch the Galaxy Watch FE before giving it away

While Samsung is yet to make an official announcement regarding the Galaxy Watch FE, its arrival is all but confirmed. The watch has already surfaced in official renders and on Samsung’s support page itself. Now, Samsung has accidentally confirmed it (yet again!) by listing the Galaxy Watch FE on its official website.

The wearable was spotted on an intriguing promo offer in Belgium where users can get a free Galaxy Watch FE when they buy a Galaxy S24, S24+, or S24 Ultra with a subscription plan from Orange or VOO before June 30. This is somewhat surprising as Samsung hasn’t officially announced the Galaxy Watch FE yet.

The low-key approach aligns with the company’s typical Fan Edition (FE) marketing strategy. They primarily serve as a way to clear out older stock by repackaging existing models with a lower price point.

The Galaxy Watch FE, based on leaks, appears to be a mere rebranding of the three-year-old Galaxy Watch 4. It’s unlikely to offer any upgrades or unique features if you’re expecting some.

The FE will retain the circular design, AMOLED display, and most other features of the Watch 4, but there may be some differences in aspects like battery. We’ve talked about all the possible changes in our dedicated comparison article of Galaxy Watch FE vs Galaxy Watch 4, be sure to check it out!

Most importantly, the listing — accidental or not — suggests that Samsung will release the Galaxy Watch FE ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event next month, rumored to be on July 10.

The promo campaign of the Watch FE with Galaxy S24 pre-orders is valid until the end of June, so we can expect it to launch in the last week of June or the first week of July.

Xiaomi SU7 blamed in fatal accident! Xiaomi denies EV’s fault

A Xiaomi SU7 has recently been involved in a deadly accident in China. The EV made news in the region for going out of control apparently and causing three people to be injured and one casualty. But while the news reports have claimed that the car was at fault, the brand says otherwise. So here’s everything that we know so far.

Xiaomi SU7 Accident: One Dead, Three Injured

Earlier today (7th June 2024), Xiaomi shared an official statement acknowledging the accident and stating that it is actively cooperating with the police in its investigation. The brand has also launched its own investigation into the Xiaomi SU7, which was involved in this fatal incident. According to local news outlets, the premium EV had suddenly lost control when leaving the parking lot and rushed into other vehicles and pedestrians that were on the non-motorized vehicle lane.

Xiaomi SU7

This results in one fatality and three injuries. However, Xiaomi claims that the Xiaomi SU7 wasn’t at fault. The company’s statement claimed that the police retrieved the backend data from the car, which confirmed that the EV was in normal condition at the time of the accident. This included its brake pedal and accelerator pedal functioning at optimal conditions. They further added that they are closely working with the police and will discloe any new information in a timely manner.

Xiaomi then responded to Chinese media, criticizing them for their rash coverage of the incident as they used terms like “vehicle out of control” and “brake failure” without having accurate information. Lastly, the company said it is cooperating with the vehicle owner and the victims as well to sincerely deal with the aftermath of this deadly accident. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when more details are available regarding this matter.

Realme confirms it’s working on 300W fast-charging tech

Realme is making another leap in the fast-charging technology. In a recent interview with YouTuber TheTechChap, Francis Wong, Head of Marketing for Realme Global, it was revealed that the company is currently testing 300W charging technology.

Realme has always been at the forefront of charging technologies. In 2021, the company introduced their 65W DartCharge tech with GT Master Edition phone which can fully fuel its 4300mAh battery in 33 minutes.

Next year in 2022, Realme released the GT Neo 3 with 150W charging support capable of taking a 4500mAh battery from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes.

Francis Wong confirming Realme’s 300W charging solution

Then its last year’s flagship, the Realme GT Neo 5 (review), debuted even higher 240W charging speeds, allowing users to charge their phones in under 10 minutes fully. Its sequel is now set to be an even faster 300W solution.

Redmi is currently the only brand to show off 300W charging technology for phones. Their demo shows impressive results, with the phone reaching 50% charge in under three minutes and a full charge in just under five minutes.

The details of Realme’s 300W fast charging technology are scarce at the moment. The interview with Wong did not delve into specifics like charging times or any drawbacks. It’s also unclear when or if this technology will be available in a commercially released smartphone.

While faster charging offers undeniable convenience, especially for on-the-go users, there are downsides of its own. High charging speeds can cause phones to overheat which directly affects battery health and longevity.

Additionally, the company needs to ensure there is proper infrastructure to support such high-wattage charging, such as larger and more efficient vapor chamber cooling systems, which may increase the cost of the phone.

It will be interesting to see if Realme can overcome these challenges and bring 300W fast charging to the market. With each iteration, they move closer to eliminating waiting times for phone charging altogether.

Global Reno 12, Reno 12 Pro chipset, camera details leaked

Last month, Oppo announced the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro for the Chinese markets. The brand recently confirmed that both phones will be hitting the global markets this month. However, there is a high possibility that global variants will have different specs as compared to their Chinese counterparts. Leaker Chun, who recently revealed details of the Reno 12F’s 4G and 5G versions, has also leaked information about the chipset and cameras that will be available on the global versions of the Reno 12 and 12 Pro smartphones.

Before delving into the leaked details about the global Reno 12 and 12 Pro, let’s take a look at the chipset and cameras of their Chinese versions. The Dimensity 8250 and Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition chipsets, respectively, power the Reno 12 and 12 Pro available in China.

The Chinese Reno 12 has an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel (Sony LYT-600) + 8-megapixel (IMX355 ultrawide) + 50-megapixel (Samsung JN5, 2x telephoto) triple camera unit. On the other hand, the Reno 12 Pro has an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel (Sony IMX890, OIS) + 8-megapixel (Sony IMX355, ultrawide) + 50-megapixel (Samsung JN5, 2x telephoto) triple camera system.

According to the leaker, the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro heading to global markets will have the Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset onboard. The Reno 12’s global version will have a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel, + 2-megapixel triple camera setup on the back. It implies that there will be no telephoto camera. On the other hand, the leak reveals that the global Reno 12 Pro will feature a 50-megapixel LYT-600 primary camera, essentially a rebranded Sony IMX882 sensor.

Final thoughts

The global Reno 11 and 11 Pro, debuted earlier this year, have the Dimensity 7050 and Dimensity 8200 chipsets, respectively. While the Reno 12 may feature the newer Dimensity 7300 chip, it is unclear whether the brand may settle for this chipset instead of the D8200 or something better.

Also, the global Reno 11’s camera setup features a 32-megapixel telephoto camera. However, the new leak now suggests that the successor model does not have a telephoto camera, a claim that sounds absurd. Therefore, we advise readers to approach the leak cautiously, as certain details don’t seem to be accurate.

POCO M6 Plus 5G Leaks Suggest Rebranded Redmi Phone with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2

Xiaomi‘s sub-brands Redmi and POCO are launching smartphones powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, targeting global markets. Recent leaks from the Google Play Console database shed light on these upcoming devices. Interestingly, both the Redmi 13 5G and POCO M6 Plus 5G are rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.

The leaked specifications for both phones have strong similarities

The POCO M6 Plus 5G listing reveals more details, including 8GB of RAM, an Adreno 613 GPU, Android 14 operating system, and a Full HD+ (1080×2460) display with a 440 dpi pixel density. While specific details for the Redmi 13 5G are limited, the Google Play Console listing suggests it might share the same processor, GPU, and OS but possibly with a different RAM configuration (potentially 6GB).

The speculation suggests the POCO M6 Plus 5G might be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 13R, recently launched in China. The leaked specifications for both phones have a lot of similarities.

It appears Xiaomi is prepping for a launch of very similar 5G smartphones under its Redmi and POCO brands, powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. We can expect some regional variations in terms of specific features or RAM configurations, but overall, these phones will likely offer comparable performance at an affordable price point. How Xiaomi differentiates these phones and which markets they target for each brand will be interesting to see in the coming months.

Feimao Launches the U20 5G Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot that Doubles Up as a Mobile Hard Drive

Feimao is launching the U20, a new 5G portable Wi-Fi hotspot in China, starting at 399 yuan. The U20 packs a punch with features designed for basic convenience.

The router supports networks from all three major Chinese carriers.

At its core, the U20 boasts 5G connectivity thanks to a domestic 8-core chip. It supports networks from all three major Chinese carriers (China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom) through a separately sold Feimao 5G clone card. The Feimao Butler App allows you to easily switch between networks for the best possible coverage, making Feimiao the first to offer an “industry-first true 5G three network” solution according to the company.

Feimao Hotspot

Sharing your internet connection is a breeze with the U20. It can connect up to 10 devices simultaneously, perfect for group outings or co-working spaces. But the U20 goes beyond just a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also boasts 20GB of built-in storage, transforming it into a mobile hard drive. The microSD card slot allows for further expansion up to a whopping 2TB, giving you ample space to store and transfer files with ease.

Network compatibility is another strong point. The U20 offers full access to 5G networks and covers all major frequency bands in China. It promises peak download speeds of 1.6Gbps and upload speeds of 225Mbps. It also seamlessly works in both SA (standalone) and NSA (non-standalone) network environments, along with Sub-6GHz frequencies, ensuring wider compatibility and better stability.

Feimao designed the U20 with convenience in mind. The USB 3.0-C port enables high-speed wired connections, and multiple power supply options ensure you’ll never be without Wi-Fi. They even have a motto: “Wi-Fi wherever there is electricity.” The U20 supports USB 3.0/2.0 compatibility, but for power supply it requires 5V=2.0A.
