IP67 Redmi Bluetooth speaker will go on sale on June 14: Details are here

Xiaomi has officially announced that the Redmi Bluetooth speaker will go on sale in China at 10:00 on June 14. The device is now up for pre-orders in many e-commerce platforms in the country including Xiaomi Youpin, Xiaomi Home, Xiaomi Mall, Tmall and JD.com for a price tag of 99 Yuan (~Rs 1130 or $14). Let’s take a look at what it has to offer.

You can pair two of them together for a stereo output

The poster reveals that the Bluetooth speaker will be available in three different colors – Green, Black, and Orange. As you can see from the image, the product equips a mesh fabric finish alongside a soft rubber material on the exterior. The speaker is also IP 67 dust and water-resistant which makes it suitable for outdoor use. For those unfamiliar, the IP67 rating means that the product will be completely protected from dust and able to manage immersion in up to 100cm of depth in fresh water for 30 minutes or less. Practically speaking, it should have no problem with raindrops. A hanging strap is also integrated with the speaker.

The Redmi Bluetooth speaker boasts a 2-unit acoustic configuration with a 1.5″ main driver. The company claims that it generates clear and bright audio with strong bass.

It also supports a 2-unit stereo combination meaning two speakers can be paired together to two different channels of a stereo output. For connectivity it uses Bluetooth 5.3.

There is a ‘large’ capacity battery inside, according to the company. An official claimed that the speaker can play for 5 hours with a full charge. You get a Type-C port for charging.

All three color options might not become available on June 14. While the black color option will become available for sale on June 14 on JD.com, you’ll have to wait for July 2nd and July 15 for the Green and Orange color options respectively.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 phones price may increase, 4,500 Yuan (~$620) starting price expected

Qualcomm is expected to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October of this year. Reliable sources suggest that the significant increase in TSMC’s wafer costs will lead to a price trend for flagship phones equipped with this advanced chip. This shift has sparked intense discussions on Chinese social media platforms.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 phones’ may arrive with an increased price tag

In October 2023, Vivo unveiled the Vivo X100 with a starting price of 3,999 Yuan (~$550). In the same month, the Xiaomi 14 debuted with the same starting price. The Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets power the Vivo X100 and Xiaomi 14, respectively.

Citing information obtained from supply chain sources, a Chinese tech blogger claimed that the starting price for Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 smartphones will be around 4,500 Yuan. The blogger posed a question: “If the Dimensity 9400 mobile phone starts at 3,999 Yuan, will you still purchase a Snapdragon 8 Gen4 mobile phone?” Responses from netizens varied, with some remaining loyal to their choice and others expressing hesitation.

The increased cost of mobile phone chips has always been substantial. For instance, the purchase price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 might be around $200, roughly equivalent to 1,500 Yuan (~$207). The Redmi K70 Pro, equipped with this chip, is currently priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$415) for the 12GB+256GB version, demonstrating excellent cost performance. However, with the rising cost of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, future models like the Redmi K80 Pro, if equipped with this chip, might exceed current price ranges, negatively impacting their competitiveness and potentially affecting sales.

It appears that the increased cost is primarily due to the adoption of an advanced 3nm process node for manufacturing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. While this technology promises higher performance and lower power consumption, it also significantly raises production costs. The increase in the number of EUV lithography tools has notably driven up the production costs of each wafer and chip. For consumers, this means they may have to pay more for enhanced performance and user experience.

The Dimensity 9400 powered phones, such as the Vivo X200, X200 Pro, and Oppo Find X8, are expected to launch in October of this year. In the same month, the Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro, and OnePlus 13 equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip may go official. The iQOO 13, the Realme GT 7 Pro, and the Redmi K80 Pro are also expected to debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 before the end of this year.

iQOO 13 may not have a Pro model this year

The iQOO 12 launched back in December of last year, and its successor is already in the works. So far we’ve heard that the iQOO 13 will feature a 1.5K resolution flat OLED 8T LTPO display and use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for performance.

Today, these specs have once again been reiterated by the tipster Digital Chat Station who also shared some new details, including information about the Pro model of the line.

iQOO 12 Pro
iQOO 12

The tipster says the iQOO 13 will support 100W charging to fuel its “large battery.” While the exact battery size wasn’t mentioned, many flagships this year such as OnePlus 13 and Oppo Find X8 are rumored to feature 6000mAh batteries.

Considering that iQOO 13 will go head-on-head with these phones, we can expect it to have a similar battery capacity. A previous report suggests that the phone will have a 6000mAh cell in fact, but it mentions 120W charging which contradicts the latest leak.

Moving on to the iQOO 13 Pro, it’s said to be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip but will have a higher-res 2K resolution quad-curved screen.

However, there is some uncertainty about its release. Digital Chat Station says that the Pro model has “not yet been confirmed to be available” casting some doubt on its release this year.

That is according to the new leak but the situation may change as there is still a considerable amount of time before the iQOO 13 series launch. What we can take away from the tipster’s latest report is that the Pro model is indeed in the works; the idea isn’t scrapped altogether.

OnePlus 13 may feature high-spec 2K LTPO display, ultra-large battery

OnePlus is currently working on the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro flagship phone for the Chinese market. The device is expected to arrive as an affordable flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The device may launch either later this month or in July, and compete with phones like the Redmi K70 Ultra, iQOO Neo 9S Pro+, and Realme GT 6 (China variant). A couple of months after the Ace 3 Pro, OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 13, the next-generation flagship phone in China. Today, tipster Digital Chat Station shared key details about the device.

OnePlus 13 key specifications (rumored)

According to DCS, the OnePlus 13 will feature a high-spec 2K 8T LTPO custom display, which is a top-tier domestic screen. A previous Weibo post by the same source revealed that the OP13 could be equipped with a 6.8-inch OLED screen. The design will include a nearly flat screen with a subtly curved glass cover, offering a conventionally large size with an improved visual experience compared to this year’s model.

The OnePlus 13’s camera system will see a modest upgrade, incorporating a 50-megapixel periscope triple camera setup. A significant enhancement for the OnePlus 13 is the inclusion of an ultra-large battery, which promises better performance and longevity.

To recall, the OnePlus 12 came equipped with a 5,400mAh battery. There are rumors that the upcoming Ace 3 Pro will sport a 6,100mAh battery. Likely, the OP13 may feature a 6,000mAh battery. Talking about its battery, a recent leak claimed that it may not support wireless charging.

Undoubtedly, the OnePlus 13 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, anticipated to make its debut in October of this year. The Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are likely to debut as the world’s first SD8G4 phones. It appears that the OP13 will also debut in the same month, making it one of the first phones to feature the new chip.

Realme GT 6 launch date finally confirmed, touted as flagship killer

Last week, Realme Vice-President Chase Xu released a teaser to hint at the launch date of the Realme GT 6. Today, the brand officially confirmed the device’s global unveiling on June 20. On the same day, the device will also debut in India. As previously confirmed by the brand, the GT 6 will be hitting markets like Italy, Indonesia, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Brazil, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and more.

Realme GT 6 launch date revealed

Realme has been consistently launching the Realme GT-series flagship phones in the Chinese market. However, the global market has not seen the release of all GT-branded flagships. The GT 5 Pro, which debuted in China in December 2023, has remained confined to the home market.

The last GT-series phone for the global market was the Realme GT 3, which debuted in July 2023. In India, the last GT-series phone was the Realme GT Neo 3T, which debuted in September 2021. Nevertheless, with the launch of the Realme GT 6, the brand is now bringing back the Realme GT series to wider markets.

Realme has yet to confirm the specifications for the global Realme GT 6. However, reports suggest that it could be similar to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered Realme GT 6, which debuted last month in China. The device is expected to come with several AI-driven photography features.

The Realme GT 6 will cost more than the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 powered Realme GT 6T, which ranges in price from Rs 30,999 to Rs 39,999. With offers, it can be purchased for as low as Rs 24,999. The GT 6 may likely arrive with a starting price of around Rs 40,000.

Xiaomi Launches Mijia Memory Foam and Natural Latex Neck Pillows

Xiaomi has expanded its Mijia sleep product line with the launch of two new neck pillows: the Mijia Memory Foam Neck Pillow Pro and the Mijia Natural Latex Neck Pillow Pro. Both pillows are designed to provide comfort and support for better sleep focusing on different materials and features. Let’s get into the details here.

Mijia Memory Foam Neck Pillow Pro

The Memory Foam Neck Pillow Pro utilizes “non-temperature sensitive 40D” memory foam that evenly distributes pressure on the head and neck regardless of ambient temperature.

The pillow also features two height options (9cm and 11cm) to accommodate different sleeping positions. Additionally, the pillow surface has been enlarged to 56 x 35cm, offering more coverage compared to the standard version.

Material-wise, the outer pillowcase is made from a plant-based fiber that offers breathability and resistance to deformation after washing. Honor 200 vs Honor 100: Its more of a refresh than a successor

Last week, Honor launched the Honor 200 series of smartphones in China. The series consists of two devices, the Honor 200 and 200 Pro, and succeeds the Honor 100 series which debuted back in November. In a separate article, we have talked about the differences between the 200 Pro and the 100 Pro, and in this one, we will discuss the regular models.

Honor 200 vs Honor 100
Honor 200 (left) vs. Honor 100 (right)

Design & display

Compared to last year’s model, Honor has made minimal design changes in the new Honor 200. The one and only difference that you’ll notice is the shape of the new camera island, which is now oval-shaped, quite similar to the Honor 100 Pro.

On the front, the device features a 6.7-inch 2664×1200 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and the capability to reproduce 1.07 billion different colors. All of these specs are the same as the previous model, with the only difference being that the peak brightness of the panel has been bumped up to 4000 nits from 2,600 nits (only achievable while displaying HDR content).

Performance & battery

The Honor 200 has the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor as its predecessor. This mid-range processor is based on TSMC’s 4nm process node and is paired with an Adreno 720 GPU. Compared to the 4,572mm² stainless steel bionic vapor chamber cooling system on the previous model, the Honor 200 comes with an upgraded 5029mm² vapor chamber with a total heat dissipation area of 34696mm².

The battery has also been slightly upgraded, going from 5,000mAh to 5200mAh. That said, the fast charging has remained the same at 100W (wired). Additionally, both devices use the same LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Cameras

Cameras are another department where these devices are almost identical. Same as the Honor 100, the 200 also uses a Sony IMX906 50-megapixel primary camera with f/1.95 aperture and OIS along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The only difference is that the brand has added a third camera on the back, which is a 50MP telephoto unit with an f/2.4 aperture, optical image stabilization, and up to 50x digital zoom.

The front camera on both of these devices is a 50MP unit with f/2.1 aperture, which can record 4K videos in up to 30 FPS. The primary camera on both devices is capable of 4K recording at 30 FPS and 1080p recording at up to 60 FPS.

Pricing

While the specs are almost the same, the pricing has slightly increased. The Honor 100 debuted at 2,499 Yuan for the 12 GB RAM + 256 GB model, 2,799 Yuan for 16 GB RAM + 256 GB, and 2,999 Yuan for 16 GB RAM + 512 GB models. In contrast, the Honor 200 starts at 2699 Yuan ($372) for the 12GB+256GB variant, 2999 Yuan ($414) for both the 12GB RAM+512GB and 16GB RAM+256GB variants, and 3199 Yuan ($442) for the 16GB RAM+512GB variant.

Conclusion

The Honor 200 is more of an Honor 100 refresh than a proper successor. It uses almost identical hardware from the previous model with minimal modifications. The peak brightness stat is more of an on-paper stat than anything noticeable in day-to-day use, and the same goes for the 200mAh battery size increase. The design lifted from the Honor 100 Pro makes it look better, and the 50MP telephoto camera is pretty much the only significant addition.

GAC to Launch the Haobo Hyper GT Electric Car on June 6th, Features 800V High-voltage Supercharging & 710 km Range

GAC is gearing up for the global launch of their Haobo Hyper GT electric car on June 6th. This powerful sedan boasts features designed to impress international markets. The Haobo Hyper GT prioritizes long journeys and fast charging. Thanks to 800V high-voltage supercharging technology, it can travel up to 710 kilometers on a single charge. Incredibly, GAC claims that just 15 minutes of charging can add enough power to drive an additional 450 kilometers.

The company claims that just 15 minutes of charging can add 450 km of range

Another key feature is the car’s “mapless global communication” intelligent driving system. This suggests the ability to navigate anywhere in the world, regardless of local mapping systems. Prior testing in various countries like Italy, Thailand, and China seems to support this claim.

Performance isn’t sacrificed for efficiency. The rear-wheel drive single motor delivers a healthy 340 horsepower and 434 Nm of torque, launching the car from 0 to 100 km/h in a speedy 4.9 seconds.

Built on GAC’s AEP 3.0 platform, the Haobo Hyper GT measures 4880mm long, 1885mm wide, and 1455mm tall, with a generous 2920mm wheelbase. A previous model, the “GT 710 rear-wheel drive high-end intelligent driving 3L version,” launched earlier this year for 259,900 yuan (approximately $38,800). This model sported a comprehensive suite of sensors including a three-laser radar system, 12 cameras, 6 millimeter-wave radars, and an infrared night vision camera for exceptional environmental perception.

With its extended range, advanced navigation capabilities, and powerful performance, the Haobo Hyper GT Global Model appears to be a strong contender in the international electric vehicle market. The official launch on June 6th will likely reveal more details about pricing and availability in specific regions.

Huawei launches AI-powered health sensor that monitors elderly at home, detects falls & sends alerts

Huawei has unveiled a new smart home gadget that uses millimeter-wave radar technology to monitor your health and well-being. The AI-assisted health sensor, priced at 1399 yuan (roughly $196), offers a range of features designed to keep you safe and comfortable in your own home.

Huawei Whole-house Smart AI-Assisted Health Sensor

Huawei Whole-house Smart AI-Assisted Health Sensor Specifications:

The sensor boasts three key detection areas: falls, bed falls, and sleep. It can comprehensively identify human posture, position, and respiratory rate, offering peace of mind for those concerned about elderly loved ones or wanting to improve their sleep habits.

One of the most valuable features is fall detection. The sensor can intelligently distinguish between falls in bathrooms and bedrooms, triggering alerts through multiple channels (phone calls, SMS, and push notifications) to designated contacts. This allows for prompt intervention in case of an emergency.

In addition to fall detection, the sensor can also monitor sleep patterns and detect prolonged absences from bed. This can be helpful in identifying potential health problems. Users can also set sleep plans and receive alerts if an elderly person sleeps for an unusually long time or wakes up at an odd hour.

Huawei Whole-house Smart AI-Assisted Health Sensor

The sensor integrates seamlessly with Huawei’s whole-house smart solutions. It offers micro-motion perception capabilities, allowing for precise detection of human presence even during subtle movements like breathing. This enables features like automatic light adjustments based on occupancy, creating a comfortable and energy-efficient environment.

The sensor intelligently filters out interference from objects like robotic vacuums, ensuring accurate detection and preventing false alarms. Huawei also prioritizes user privacy. The millimeter-wave radar technology ensures no images or sounds are collected, making it a safe solution for installation throughout the home.

It’s important to note, however, that the sensor is intended as an auxiliary detection device and cannot guarantee complete safety. Additionally, it’s not a medical device and cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions.

The sensor has a maximum coverage area of 25 square meters (269 square feet) and is currently limited to single-person detection. Huawei advises against using the sensor in homes with pets, as their movement might trigger false alarms.

AOC 24B15H2 Monitor

AOC 24B15H2 Monitor Specifications:

The 24B15H2 features a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution IPS panel with a 100Hz refresh rate. This combination delivers crisp visuals and smoother motion handling compared to traditional 60Hz displays, especially noticeable during fast-paced activities like gaming or scrolling through webpages.

The display comes with a standard brightness level of 250 nits and a static contrast ratio of 1000:1, with an enhanced dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1. The response time is listed at 8ms, which is suitable for most casual gaming applications.

Honor Magic V Flip leaks in real-life images: extremely thin bezels on outer screen and dual rear cameras

A real-life image of the Honor Magic V Flip has surfaced on the web, which confirms the previously rumored design. You can see the large external display of the phone that the woman is using to take a selfie with the rear camera.

The leaked image shows an extra camera as compared to the previously exposed render

Upon zooming in you will see there is a separate camera module, which is an addition to the previously exposed render. The cutout for the second one is only slightly bigger than a punch-hole front camera. The larger cutout houses a single lens. So, this is also a dual-camera setup. There is an Honor branding on the bottom half of the phone, however, the ‘Magic V Flip’ name is speculated.

According to a recent rumor, the phone could be released as soon as in two weeks. People familiar with the development claimed that the company is purchasing the largest external screen that has ever been placed in a flip phone. It looks like the external display will be a major highlight of the alleged Honor Magic V Flip.

According to reports, the company has been working on the project for the last two years and it could come with its unique identity. The phone will be 15-17mm thick when closed. For context, the Huawei Pocket 2 (review) that was launched in February this year, measures a similar 15.3mm when closed.

A flip phone with model number “LRA-AN00” has recently passed 3C certification, which is expected to be the Honor Magic V Flip. According to the listing, the device supports 66W fast charging.

The phone reportedly has two different versions (a high-end and a relatively affordable one). So, it could be possible that the leaked image we are seeing is the high-end version with an extra camera module on the back while the previously exposed render represents the base version.
