<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/asus">ASUS</a>, usually in the news for its <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/laptops">laptops</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/gaming-smartphones">gaming smartphones </a>or displays, has recently unveiled a powerful new medical computer designed specifically for the healthcare environment, and it&#8217;s the MDS-M700. This new machine seems to have its priorities somewhere else &#8211; precision, performance, and patient safety. The MDS-M700 boasts support for <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/4k">4K</a> UHD image processing, delivering sharper and more detailed visualizations of human tissues, blood vessels, and body structures. This translates to clearer diagnoses and more informed treatment plans.</p>

<h3>The computer operates at a mere 45dB to minimize distractions </h3>

<p>Hospitals can be noisy places, but the MDS-M700 operates at a whisper-quiet 45dB, creating a less distracting environment for medical professionals during critical procedures. This feature might not make a huge difference at a standard-consumer level, but it&#8217;s a whole different story with medical usage. Designed for sterile environments, the MDS-M700 features a compact design with a integrated cover, making it easy to clean and maintain in operating rooms and other sterile settings. Additionally, its alcohol resistance is a pretty useful feature, considering sterility is absolutely paramount in hospitals.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="265" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785-1024x265.webp?x10805" alt="ASUS Medical Computer" class="wp-image-610869" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785-1024x265.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785-300x78.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785-768x199.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785-696x180.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785-1068x277.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/99ab67e0-a811-4b6a-b97f-daa79a6de785.webp 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The MDS-M700 adheres to rigorous medical safety industry standards, including CE, FCC, and IEC 60601-1-2 certification. This last standard ensures the computer functions flawlessly within electromagnetic environments, for instance, in the presence of MRI and other scanning machines, thus minimizing the risk of interference with other equipment or potential harm to patients.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the MDS-M700 packs a punch. It features a 13th generation <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/intel">Intel</a> Core processor and offers the option of an <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nvidia-rtx">Nvidia RTX</a> A5000/A4000 graphics card. It also comes equipped with three Ethernet interfaces for versatile data transfer. Additionally, it supports optional 4K UHD capture cards.</p>

<p>The ASUS MDS-M700 medical computer is slated for release in April 2024 and will be showcased at the upcoming HIMSS24 global medical conference. We don&#8217;t see a lot of these companies putting out niche products, especially catered towards the medical field, so this is surely a refreshing piece of news. </p>

<p>When your computer or phone breaks down, the first thing most of us do is take it to the repair shop. However, even this simple act poses a risk to your personal data. A new study has revealed the answer to the question, &#8220;is it dangerous to take the computer to the repair shop?&#8221; It found that privacy violations occurred at least 50 percent of the time, not surprisingly, female customers are more at risk. </p>

<h3>Taking the computer to the repair shop is a lot riskier than you think</h3>

<p>Researchers at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, recovered logs from laptops after receiving overnight repairs from 12 commercial shops. The logs showed that technicians from six of the locations had accessed personal data and that two of those shops also copied data onto a personal device.&nbsp;Unfortunately, women&#8217;s computers became the main target of &#8220;so called repairmen&#8221;.</p>

<p>Snooping tended to seek more sensitive data, like sexually revealing media files and financial information. Unfortunately, even ordinary photos and videos became targets of criminals. “We were blown away by the results,” Hassan Khan, one of the researchers, said in an interview. Especially concerning, he said, was the copying of data, which happened during repairs for one from a male customer and the other from a female. “We thought they would just look at [the data] at most.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-497606" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/half-of-computer-repairs-result-in-snooping-of-sensitive-data.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Here’s a breakdown of the six visits that resulted in snooping:</figcaption></figure>

<p>The laptops were freshly imaged Windows 10 machines, and all were free of malware and other defects and in perfect working condition, except that the audio driver was disabled on purpose. Half of the laptops were configured to appear as if they belonged to a male and the other half to a female. In all, the findings from the study were:</p>

<p>•&nbsp;Privacy policies and the practice of communicating&nbsp;protocols and controls to protect customers’ data do&nbsp;not exist across service providers of all sizes.<br>•&nbsp;Service&nbsp;providers&nbsp;largely&nbsp;(10/11)&nbsp;require&nbsp;“all&nbsp;access” to the device, even when it is unnecessary.<br>•&nbsp;Technicians often snoop on customers’ data (6/16)&nbsp;and sometimes copy those to external devices (2/16).<br>•&nbsp;Technicians who violate privacy often do so carefully to not generate evidence (1/6) or remove such&nbsp;evidence (3/6).<br>•&nbsp;A significant proportion of broken devices (26/79,&nbsp;33 percent) are not repaired due to privacy concerns.&nbsp; For the devices that get repaired, device owners are&nbsp;concerned about threats to their privacy but do not&nbsp;use the proper controls to protect their data.</p>

<p>Although it is difficult to avoid this problem, there are methods you can apply. First of all, try to get reliable and official services, this will not completely eliminate the risk, but it will reduce it significantly. Second and most importantly, you must protect your computer and files with a password. According to research, many businesses ask their customers for passwords. However, if you have sensitive information in it, it&#8217;s best not to share it.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Amidst the chip shortage issue being gradually resolved since the end of the last year, the company’s sales for Q1 2022 have been greatly improved compared to Q1 2021. And as for international freight shipping, despite the frequent port congestions and long waiting times for sea and air cargo shipping globally, the shipping rates have surely gotten cheaper for multinational companies in 2022. This change allows </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/laptop/"><span style="font-weight: 400">laptop</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> manufacturers like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/acer/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Acer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> to lock in sales faster as they can produce more, and then more of the brand’s products will be able to reach storefronts for customers to buy.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-465201" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo.jpg?x10805" alt="Acer Laptop Logo" width="1200" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Acer-Laptop-Logo-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">But there is one caveat to this in 2022. CEO of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/acer/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Acer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Inc, Jason Chen states that in 2022, the United States had raised the federal reverse interest rates higher to increase global inflation rates and coupled with rising food shortages caused by the war between Russia and Ukraine, demand for PCs is just generally low for buyers right now. Chen explains that buyers will now shift their purchasing focus from their wants (ie the more expensive electronic goods) to the basic necessities like bread, rice, butter and cooking oil, as inflation continues to be rising across the globe. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In turn, Chen believes that electronic goods like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/laptop/"><span style="font-weight: 400">laptops</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartphones/"><span style="font-weight: 400">smartphones</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> in the next few years will experience much lower demand and have a longer upgrade cycle, not only because people saving and spending money on food, but also because the newer </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/laptop/"><span style="font-weight: 400">laptops</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and smartphones of today work just fine to last you 3 to 6 years, and they see no need to replace them.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Chen believes that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/acer/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Acer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> conquering the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/laptop/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PC market</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> requires sufficient analysis with efficient strategies. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/acer/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Acer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">’s business operations span across laptops, desktops, displays and non-PC business subsidiaries as well. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">And as a closing note, Chen reiterates that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/acer/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Acer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> as a company to ready to face the uncertainties of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/laptop/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PC market</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, and that it will always do its preparations against the unexpected to stay strong in its current position as an industry leader in the market.</span></p>

<p>Ever since the launch of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/11/apples-latest-mac-mini-packs-an-m1-chip-macos-big-sur-starts-at-699/">M1-powered Mac Mini</a>, there have been rumors about a more powerful Mac Mini being under work. Now, a new report hints that the more powerful model could go official later this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-353353 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip.jpg?x10805" alt="Mac mini with M1 chip" width="1440" height="810" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip.jpg 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Mac-mini-with-M1-chip-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>
<p>According to the <a href="https://twitter.com/dylandkt/status/1485311433793490953">report from <em>@dylandkt</em></a>, the first event of Apple in 2022 could have an upgraded Mac Mini powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/18/apple-announces-m1-pro-and-m1-max-chips-and-new-macbook-pro-with-notches/">M1 Pro and M1 Max chips</a>. It is also being said that the product will have a new design.</p>
<p>If the previous reports are to be believed, then it will have a thinner body with a polycarbonate top, an increase in the ports at the back, and a magnetic power connection.</p>
<p>The new Mac Mini isn&#8217;t the only device that Apple is expected to launch at the spring event in the coming months. It is also expected to launch a new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-se">iPhone SE</a> with 5G connectivity support, an updated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-ipad-air-2020/">iPad Air</a>, and a bunch of other products.</p>
<p>However, the highlight could be the highly-anticipated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-imac-pro">iMac Pro</a> which is said to be still on track to get launched during the spring event. It is also expected to be powered by the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, but we&#8217;ll have to wait for the official launch as the production delay or issues may affect the devices set to go official during the spring launch event.</p>

Since then, the company is expected to launch an updated iMac Pro in the market.</p>
<p>There have been several rumors hinting at the launch of a 27-inch iMac Pro sometime next year and now the latest report <a href="https://www.displaysupplychain.com/blog/what-will-the-big-display-stories-be-in-2022">coming from <em>Display Supply Chain</em></a> reveals that the device is expected to launch in Spring.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_385392" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-385392" style="width: 836px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-385392 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac.jpg?x10805" alt="The new iMac" width="836" height="456" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac.jpg 836w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-300x164.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-768x419.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-696x380.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-770x420.jpg 770w" sizes="(max-width: 836px) 100vw, 836px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-385392" class="wp-caption-text">24-inch Apple iMac</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The report reveals that the 27-inch iMac Pro from Apple will feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miniled">MiniLED screen</a> and have support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/120hz">120Hz variable refresh rate</a> and Oxide backplanes. It will also mark the introduction of Pro Motion display technology to the iMac lineup.</p>
<p>While earlier reports have also talked about the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-imac-pro">iMac Pro model</a> getting launched around the same time, DSCC pretty much confirms it as its analysts usually get information from the screen manufacturers with a pretty accurate timeline.</p>
<p>It is expected that the device could have a starting configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage, just like the recently launched MacBook Pro lineup. Further, users will likely get an option to choose between <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/18/apple-announces-m1-pro-and-m1-max-chips-and-new-macbook-pro-with-notches/">M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets</a>.</p>
<p>Earlier, Bloomberg&#8217;s Mark Gurman had also hinted about the revamped high-end iMac with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-silicon">Apple Silicon</a> launching in 2022 but then reported that the Cupertino-based tech giant may have postponed it to focus on the 24-inch M1-powered iMac.</p>
<p>The new report also hints about the launch timeline for some other rumored Apple products. It adds that the iPad and MacBook models featuring <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED panels</a> are not expected to launch until 2023 but are likely to be announced in 2024.</p>

<p>Qualcomm has unveiled its new CPU hardware that is designed by Nuvia, a chip startup founded by three former Apple engineers. For those who are unaware, Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/13/qualcomms-cpus-are-about-to-get-even-more-powerful-as-it-plans-to-acquire-nuvia/">had acquired Nuvia</a> earlier this year for $1.4 billion.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-425602 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC.jpg?x10805" alt="Qualcomm Next-Gen CPUs for PCs" width="1720" height="1290" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC.jpg 1720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Qualcomm-Next-Gen-CPU-PC-560x420.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 1720px) 100vw, 1720px" /></p>
<p>The company is looking to advance its PC processors with the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/arm">Arm</a>-based SoC which it says is “designed to set the performance benchmark for Windows PCs” that would be able to go head to head with Apple’s M-series <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/processor">processors</a>.</p>
<p>The chipset company is also aiming to be a leader for “sustained performance and battery life.” Further, Qualcomm has also promised that it would be scaling up its Adreno GPUs for offering desktop-class gaming capabilities for its future <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pc">PC products</a>.</p>
<p>The new Qualcomm chips for PCs, designed by Nuvia, are slated to ship in consumer products sometime in 2023. This is quite a long time, giving Apple about two more years to unveil or showcase its future <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-silicon">Apple Silicon</a> chips.</p>
<p>It will be interesting to see Qualcomm&#8217;s new take for the PC chips as its previous attempts have been lackluster so far. So far, it has launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/03/qualcomm-snapdragon-8cx-2-5g-for-arm-laptops/">Snapdragon 8cx processors</a> and partnered with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/microsoft">Microsoft</a> for the SQ1 and SQ2 chips on the Surface X.</p>
<p>Qualcomm aiming to compete with Apple isn&#8217;t surprising as the Cupertino-based giant stunned everyone when it announced its plan of transitioning Mac devices from Intel to its own Apple Silicon platform which so far has three chips &#8212; M1, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/18/apple-announces-m1-pro-and-m1-max-chips-and-new-macbook-pro-with-notches/">M1 Pro, and M1 Max</a>. These processors from the company, based on the ARM architecture, offer a revolutionary experience of power and battery life.</p>
