Huawei’s new service lets you buy a single TWS earbud for 50% off to replace a lost one

Huawei has just launched a new service in China that is aimed to offer users a way to replace their lost TWS earbuds. The company will now let you buy a single true wireless earphone at a discounted price.

The latest service from the Chinese tech giant is quite an innovative initiative from the company that should be more common in the currently booming TWS hearables market. Huawei will now let those that lost an earbud purchase the a single bud for a 50 percent discount. This new ‘worry/hassle free’ service will be available for products within a 2 year period of their purchase.

As of right now, the company has included three TWS earbuds as part of this new service. This includes the FreeBuds 4i, FreeBuds 4, and FreeBuds Pro. So for those that lost a bud from any of these models can purchase the single FreeBuds 4i bud for 39 Yuan (roughly 11 US Dollars), FreeBuds 4 for 69 Yuan (roughly 6 US Dollars), and the FreeBuds Pro for a reasonable 79 Yuan (roughly 12 US Dollars). To avail this offer, users will have to bring the charging case and the earbuds to a Huawei service store in China.

Unfortunately, the company has only launched this offer/service in its home country alone at the moment. Although, we’d wish for more companies to adopt this offer in markets across the globe. Currently, the Indian market for TWS earbuds is booming, so this would be a great offering in the region as well. But, we will have to wait and see if other brands follow suit.

Huawei launches Freebuds 4 in new Red color option

Earlier this year, Huawei had launched its new FreeBuds 4, which was the latest true wireless earbuds from the company. Now, the brand has just released the wireless earphones in a new Red color option.

Initially, the FreeBuds 4 TWS earbuds were first launched in two color variants, namely Frost Silver and Ceramic White. And now, the Chinese tech giant has just released the new earphones in a new Red color option earlier today (29th July 2021). The new variant has been launched for an original price of 999 Yuan (roughly 155 US Dollars) although initial buyers can purchase the earbuds for a discounted price of 949 Yuan (roughly 147 US Dollars).

At the moment, the hearables is listed on JD.com, a popular Chinese microblogging platform. Furthermore, the website is also offering a special discount on the ceramic white version of the FreeBuds 4, which is available for 899 Yuan (roughly 140 US Dollars). For those unaware, the FreeBuds 4 features a semi in ear design with active noise cancellation support as well. It also supports wireless charging and weighs just 5.4 grams per bud, making it one of the lightest ANC enabled earphones in the world.

Huawei FreeBuds 4 arrives with a semi-in-ear design & Active Noise Cancellation

During Huawei‘s Full-scene smart life new product launch conference held today, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 was one of the main products unveiled. The wireless earbuds come with active noise cancellation. The FreeBuds 4 is priced at 999 yuan (~$155) and will go on sale on June 1.

In terms of the design, Huawei FreeBuds 4 truly wireless earbuds still use a semi-in-ear design just like FreeBuds 3. Huawei says it collected tens of thousands of 3D human ear model data to create a wearing comfort that meets the needs of more people, making it more comfortable than in-ear headphones. The earbuds are said to fit the user’s ears better and are not stuffy when worn for a long time.

Huawei FreeBuds 4 retains support for active noise cancellation technology, which is more difficult to apply to semi-in-ear headphones. Most of the common active noise reduction headphones use in-ear design, precisely because the in-ear design has better innate sealing. However, to solve this challenge, the FreeBuds 4 adopts the “dual-microphone hybrid noise reduction technology” bringing an excellent noise reduction performance.

In terms of sound quality, Huawei’s FreeBuds 4 uses a classic dynamic speaker structure. It features a liquid crystal composite (LCP) diaphragm that is lighter and more rigid. This takes the headset’s frequency response range up to 40kHz. The bass is also of vivid sound quality.

Further, the FreeBuds 4 is equipped with a high-sensitivity microphone that can record high-fidelity sound with a sampling rate of up to 48 kHz, retaining the rich details of the sound. The microphone also has a powerful noise pickup reduction.

In terms of the smart connection, the FreeBuds 4 supports dual connections with mobile phones, tablets, PCs, watches, and smart screens. For example, when the user is using the tablet to listen to music or watch a movie if a phone call comes in, the tablet will automatically pause the content, and the headset will seamlessly switch to the phone channel. In the Huawei Audio Connection Center, you can switch devices with one key without repeating the tedious operation of disconnecting and connecting before.

Each of the earbuds weighs only 4.1g while the storage box weighs 38g. As for the pricing, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 starts at 999 yuan (~$155) and will be sold via Huawei Mall, Huawei experience stores, major authorized e-commerce, and other retail licensees.

Huawei FreeBuds 4 TWS earphones to launch in China on May 19

Chinese tech giant Huawei has today confirmed that the company will be launching its new true wireless earphones under the FreeBuds lineup in the market, named Huawei FreeBuds 4 at 02:30 PM local time in China on 19th May.

The poster shared by the company showcases that the upcoming earphones as well as its charging or carrying case look almost similar to its predecessor. The company has adopted the semi in-ear design for the earbuds instead of the full in-ear design.

Now, with this semi in-ear design of the Huawei FreeBuds 4, the noise cancellation feature’s performance remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see how the company has managed to offer this feature.

Its predecessor, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 launched in 2019, comes powered by the company’s own Kirin A1 chipset and supports noise cancellation. Given the company’s issues with the chipset business, it is not yet known if Huawei can use its own chip or chooses to use a different chip for the upcoming earphones.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 TWS earphones will be made available in at least three color options — White, Gray, and Red. Ahead of the launch on 19th May, the earphones are already available for pre-sale on Huawei Mall.

At the 19th May launch event, Huawei is expected to announce several other products, including TVs, earphones, and smartwatches. It could also launch a high-end notebook and a new Mate-branded tablet, among others.

While the company has yet to officially announce the products that will be released on the launch event, we have recently covered a few devices that we expect to be announced on this date. This includes the new variant of the Huawei Children’s Watch 4X, which was leaked recently, along with the Huawei Body Fat Scale 3 Pro.

OPPO has also confirmed that it will be launching its new OPPO Enco TWS earphones in China on 20th May, the same day when Vivo is scheduled to launch its new Vivo TWS 2 true wireless earphones.

Huawei to launch the FreeBuds 4 in four color variants in May: Tipster

Earlier today (18th March 2021), a tipster on Weibo,a Chinese microblogging website, shared that Huawei might be planning on launching its FreeBuds 4 truly wireless earbuds in four color variants in May 2021.

As per a social media post from @勇气数码君, the Chinese tech giant is planning on launching its latest iteration of the FreeBuds earphones in May. The wireless earbuds will be available in four different colors. At the moment, it is currently unknown what colors the new hearables will arrive in, but it is expected to be a white, black, red, and silver. The codename for the upcoming earphones is “Mermaid.”

The previous iteration, the FreeBuds 3, had a semi in ear design and still featured active noise cancellation feature (ANC). This design is expected to likely to be carried forward for the upcoming FreeBuds 4. Keep in mind, the actual name of the new earbuds are unknown as of right now. Notably, the consumer electronics maker already launched a FreeBuds 4i model recently.

Unfortunately, the finer details like specifications of the new earphones are still unknown. The FreeBuds 3 arrived with the Huawei HiSilicon’s Kirin A1 chipset along with support for Bluetooth 5.1, the first earphone to feature it.
