So the rumors were true. Samsung has officially increased the prices of several Galaxy A and Galaxy F series smartphones in India. The new pricing is in effect starting today, January 5. 

According to a post shared by well-known tipster Abhishek Yadav, Samsung has revised the prices of the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy F17 across all storage variants. The hikes aren’t uniform, but they are consistent within each model. 

The Galaxy A56 now costs ₹2,000 more across the board, the Galaxy A36 sees a ₹1,500 increase on all variants, and the Galaxy F17 gets a ₹1,000 bump regardless of configuration.

Here’s the complete breakdown

Starting with the Galaxy A56, the top-end 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model has moved from ₹44,999 to ₹46,999. The 8GB/256GB variant now costs ₹43,999, up from ₹41,999, while the base 8GB/128GB version has gone from ₹38,999 to ₹40,999. 

The Galaxy A36 also isn’t spared. Its 12GB/256GB variant now retails at ₹38,499 instead of ₹36,999. The 8GB/256GB version is priced at ₹35,499, up from ₹33,999, while the 8GB/128GB model has climbed to ₹32,499 from ₹30,999. 

Samsung’s budget-oriented Galaxy F17 5G has also seen a hike, though a smaller one. The 4GB/128GB variant now costs ₹15,499, the 6GB/128GB version is priced at ₹16,999, and the top 8GB/128GB model has moved to ₹18,499.

For now, there’s no confirmation on whether Samsung’s flagship devices — including the Galaxy S25 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 — will see similar changes.

Samsung has officially announced the launch of three new mid-range smartphones under its Galaxy A series in India on March 2. These are the much anticipated Galaxy A26, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A56, which are expected to hit the global market soon after their release in India.

Interested buyers in India can already register their interest on Samsung’s official webpage. The company has also confirmed that these phones will receive an impressive six years of OS updates.

The Galaxy A26, A36, and A56 are expected to launch with Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box, which is also impressive considering the company’s achievements in rolling out the update to older devices, including last year’s flagships S and Z series.

If Samsung keeps its promise, these upcoming mid-range devices will be updated all the way to Android 21, a significant commitment for mid-range smartphones, to say the least. Nonetheless, we think its too soon to comment on timely updates, considering the current situation.

Leaked specifications:

Leaked specifications reveal that the Galaxy A26 will feature a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display (up from the 6.5″ display of Galaxy A25) with a U-shaped notch. Not to mention, this design choice feels outdated compared to a punch-hole cutout, especially in 2025.

The other two models are also expected to pack slightly larger displays—6.7″ up from 6.6″. While the Galaxy A25 came with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and the successor is expected to follow the same, both the A36 and A56 likely pack under-display optical sensors for the putpos.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A36 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip, while the A56 will reportedly use the Exynos 1580 processor. All three models are likely to come with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, a 5,000 mAh battery (same as their predecessors). Interestingly, both the A36 and A56 are rumored to support 45W fast charging, up from 25W of the predecessors and the same as the latest S series flagships, at least on paper. Nonetheless, expect a decent price tag for the adapter that you’ll need to buy separately. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has faced some compatibility issues with older charging accessories, both official and third-party, which I think you should check out before making a decision.

Camera-wise, the A series models are said to feature a 50MP primary camera (with OIS) and a 12MP secondary sensor.

Just last month, the South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy A56 model was spotted on the FCC database (Via MySmartPrice). And now, the more affordable Galaxy A36 has also surfaced on the same certification platform. The upcoming mid range smartphone can be seen carrying the SM-A366E/DS and SM-A336U model numbers. The DS here refers to support for Dual SIM.

Apart from this, the FCC listing also confirms support for 5G connectivity, Bluetooth, GNSS, NFC, and WiFi (802.11b/g/n/a/ac/ax). While finer details like its specification are still at large, the database also lists the smartphone with support for the EP-TA800 charger and EP-DA705 data cable. This charger is the same model that offers a maximum power output of 9V and 2.77A. In other words, the Galaxy A36 will offer 25W wired fast charging support.

Earlier this week, both the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 were spotted on the GCF certification ahead of their upcoming announcement. The A56 5G, in particular, has been making the rounds in certification circles. Prior to the GCF approval, it appeared on the FCC, SIRIM, TUV Rheinland, MIIT, TENAA, 3C, EMVCo, BIS, and Geekbench databases.

A couple of months ago, the Samsung Galaxy A36 is expected to feature a 50MP primary camera on the rear like its predecessor. Meanwhile, the front is expected to house a 12MP selfie shooter. A recent report from GalaxyClub now reveals the first camera specifications for the Galaxy A36, hinting at improvements and changes that will interest Samsung fans.

Camera specifications of the Galaxy A36

The Galaxy A36 is expected to feature a 50-megapixel main rear camera, similar to what the current Galaxy A35 offers. However, the most notable upgrade is on the front of the device, where Samsung has reportedly equipped the Galaxy A36 with a 12-megapixel selfie camera, replacing the previous 13-megapixel one. While this might seem a slight downgrade, the source notes that the sensor could be a “clear improvement compared to the old 13 MP sensor that Samsung used for the previous A3x devices”.

This decision keeps a quality distinction between the two models, maintaining the A56 as the slightly more premium option in the Galaxy A lineup.

As for the macro and ultrawide cameras, specific details remain unknown. However, it’s expected that Samsung will keep these lenses consistent with last year’s model, which is a 5-megapixel macro and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. This incremental approach would align with Samsung’s pattern of upgrading one or two camera components each year.

Other expected features and design changes

In addition to camera specs, unofficial images of the Galaxy A36 have leaked, suggesting a possible design change. The A36 may feature a more defined camera island, instead of individual lenses protruding directly from the back, giving it a more cohesive look.

Furthermore, the Galaxy A36 has made several appearances on Geekbench, indicating it will be powered by a Qualcomm processor—likely the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or 7s Gen 2. The benchmarked models have shown 6 GB of RAM and are expected to run Android 15, bringing performance optimizations and the latest software experience. While pricing details are still unknown, it’s expected to be in the range of previous models, likely between €350 and €400, keeping it competitive within the mid-range market.

It was just yesterday that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A36 5G appeared on the Geekbench listing. A day later, we now have full details on the phone’s design, thanks to reliable tipster OnLeaks. In collaboration with Giznext, the insider has shared high-quality renders of Samsung’s new mid-range phone. 

While we expected Samsung to stick to its usual design trend, this time things are changing — finally! Instead of the typical separate camera rings, the Galaxy A36 features a pill-shaped, vertically aligned camera island on the back.

The design is reminiscent of the good ol’ Galaxy Note 10, and it’s refreshing to see a design update in a Samsung phone after quite some time.

The rest of the phone seems like a subtle evolution. It’ll be a tad taller (162.6mm vs 161.7mm) to accommodate a slightly larger 6.64-inch display (up from 6.60-inch). Thankfully, it’ll also be marginally slimmer at 7.4mm (down from 8.2mm), although the camera bump pushes the total thickness to 9.6mm. 

No word yet on the battery capacity, but hopefully, the slimmer profile won’t come at the expense of endurance.

Under the hood, things are a bit murky. The recent Geekbench suggests that the A36 might pack either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the 7s Gen 2 chipset. If true, this will be another supplier switch for the A-series, following the Dimensity 1080 on the A34 and the Exynos 1380 on the A35.

The front of the phone maintains the familiar flat display with a centered punch-hole camera. Bezels seem slightly asymmetrical, but overall, it’s a familiar sight. With no fingerprint reader on the side, we can safely assume it’ll be embedded into the display, just like its predecessor.

Keep in mind, that these are just renders, so the final design might differ slightly. There’s also still some time before the Galaxy A36 officially launches. The A35 debuted alongside the A55 in mid-March, so you can expect a similar release timeframe for the A36 and A56.

Samsung launched its mid-range Galaxy A35 5G smartphone back in March this year and we know the company has started working on its successor. The Galaxy A36 has now appeared on the performance benchmarking site, Geekbench, for the first time and it comes with a surprising Android version.

The device appeared in the benchmark with the model number SM-A336B. Based on Samsung’s typical naming pattern, we are sure that this is the Galaxy A36 5G. 

The device actually made several benchmark runs, and while you can see one of its performance scores below, the most interesting reveal is that Samsung is already testing the device with Android 15 on board. 

Google recently released Android 15 for its Pixel phones, and Samsung is expected to roll out its own version based on the new Android with the Galaxy S25 series in January. If the Galaxy A36 comes with Android 15 pre-installed, we can likely expect it to launch after the S25 series, around the same time as the Galaxy A35.

We can also expect the Galaxy A36 to receive six years of Android and security patch updates, as even the budget Galaxy A16 5G offers the same.

The benchmark shows the device with 6GB of RAM, but an 8GB version might also be available when it launches.

As for the chipset, we’re still uncertain. The benchmarks show its octa-core CPU with four high-performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four power-efficient cores at 1.8GHz. Whereas, the graphics are handled by an Adreno 710 GPU.

So the chip could be either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, both of which are built on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process.

Earlier this month, We were the first to reveal that Samsung has already started working on the Galaxy A36. We spotted two models of the smartphone in the IMEI database: SM-A366B/DS and SM-A366U. 

The first is the global version of the smartphone with dual SIM support, hence the “/DS” suffix. Whereas, the latter is the version that will be sold in the US.
