</figure>

<p>Although the astrophotography mode was expected to arrive on the Galaxy S21 and S20 series with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/15/samsung-one-ui-5-1-global-rollout-older-galaxy-phones/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 5.1 update</a>, it did not materialize. However, with the latest Expert RAW app update, Galaxy S21 users who have received the April 2023 update can now enjoy this feature. The new mode is set to arrive on other Samsung flagships, including the Galaxy S20 series and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-z-fold/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z Fold</a> devices, in the near future.</p>

<p>To take advantage of this feature, Galaxy S21 owners will need to download the latest version of Expert RAW from the Galaxy Store and ensure that their phone has received the latest April 2023 firmware update. However, it&#8217;s important to note that the quality of astrophotos largely depends on the clarity of the skies in the user&#8217;s region. This means that those living in cities may not get the best results.</p>

<p>In addition to the exciting news about the astrophotography feature on the Galaxy S21 series, there are also rumors circulating about Samsung&#8217;s plans to launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/29/samsung-launch-galaxy-z-fold-5-galaxy-z-flip-5-earlier/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 earlier than expected</a>. According to sources, the company may unveil these devices as early as July 2023.</p>

<p>Furthermore, CAD renders of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-5-cad-renders-emerge-to-reveal-renewed-cover-display-design/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z Flip 5</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/30/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5-renders-leaked/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fold 5</a> have emerged online. Flip 5 will get a renewed cover display design that&#8217;s sleeker and more stylish than ever before while the Fold 5 will have a better hinge design this time. While details about the specifications and features of these upcoming devices remain scarce, Samsung fans can expect to hear more news in the coming months as we approach the rumored launch date.</p>

Recently, it enabled <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/25/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g-gets-galaxy-s21-camera-features-via-update/">flagship camera features</a> for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G and other older devices. Now, it is bringing more improvements to the entire <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s21">Samsung Galaxy S21 series</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-365204 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="3264" height="1610" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1.jpg 3264w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-300x148.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-768x379.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-1024x505.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-696x343.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-1068x527.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-851x420.jpg 851w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-1920x947.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3264px) 100vw, 3264px" /></p>
<p>In a new update that is rolling out to users of India with firmware version <strong>G99xxXXU2AUC8</strong>, Samsung is bringing camera improvements to the Galaxy S21 series of devices- <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21">Galaxy S21</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-plus">Galaxy S21+</a>, and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra">Galaxy S21 Ultra</a>. The update weighs over 1GB and it also has performance improvements for the devices.</p>
<p>Notably, the company seems to have finally allowed users to capture portrait shots via the regular lens. <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> had introduced new camera features like Director&#8217;s View, Low-light portraits during the Galaxy S21 launch. However, it had allowed only ultrawide/telephoto lens to capture portraits so far.</p>
<p>With the new update, users can click portrait photos via the regular sensor as <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s21-update-camera-improvements-april-2021-security-patch/">reported</a> by Sammobile. Anyway, along with this, the update also brings the latest April 2021 security patch to the entire Galaxy S21 series.</p>
<p>We can expect the update to expand to other regions as well. That said, if you are living in India, you can try out the new feature by updating the device to the latest firmware. To do that you can navigate to  <i>Settings &gt; Software update &gt; Download and install. </i></p>

The company has already unveiled its next-gen <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/12/samsung-exynos-2100-announced-today-with-significant-upgrades-and-a-built-in-5g-modem/">flagship Exynos 2100 SoC</a>. Samsung has already confirmed an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/04/official-samsung-galaxy-unpacked-2021-will-be-held-on-january-14/">Unpacked event</a> on January 14 at 10 AM EST/8.30 PM IST/11 PM Beijing Time. Ahead of the event, let&#8217;s look at the devices&#8217; Expected Specs and Price.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-365204" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="3264" height="1610" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1.jpg 3264w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-300x148.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-768x379.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-1024x505.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-696x343.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-1068x527.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-851x420.jpg 851w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Galaxy-S21-Series-1-1920x947.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3264px) 100vw, 3264px" /></p>
<h3><strong>Galaxy S21 Series- What is Changing?</strong></h3>
<p>So far, from the leaked reports, we can spot three major changes with the Galaxy S21 series: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/26/samsung-galaxy-s21-s21-plus-leak-new-leak-reveals-everything-from-specifications-to-pricing/">Plastic Build</a> on the Vanilla Galaxy S21, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/07/high-quality-galaxy-s21-plus-ultra-renders-all-colors/">Revamped Camera layout</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/23/galaxy-s21-ultras-fcc-listing-confirms-s-pen-support/">S-Pen support</a> on the S21 Ultra. Rest assured, the entire series will probably carry over the legacy of premium flagships with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/exynos-2100">Exynos 2100</a>(Rest of the World)/<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888">Snapdragon 888</a>(US, China) chipsets, high-performance LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage.</p>
<p>At the front, there will be a centered punch-hole display(Infinity-O) that could be protected by Corning <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/23/cornings-toughest-gorilla-glass-victus-announced-may-feature-on-the-galaxy-note-20/">Gorilla Glass Victus</a>. However, you get to lose a few perks like a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/04/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-leak-reaffirms-s-pen-microsd/">MicroSD slot</a>(except for the Ultra), <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/12/samsung-galaxy-s21-s21-ultra-box-packaging-leaked/">in-box Adapter, and earphones</a>. That said, you can also look at the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/19/download-galaxy-s21-plus-ultra-official-wallpapers/">official wallpapers</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/samsung-galaxy-s21-s21-s21-ultra-official-video-teasers-leak-to-reveal-front-and-rear-design/">video teasers</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/samsung-galaxy-s21-series-official-cases-leak-as-launch-draws-closer/">cases(back covers)</a>, and the leaked <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/05/samsung-galaxy-s21-over-the-horizon-ringtone-leaked/">Over The Horizon Theme</a> of the upcoming series.</p>

<p>The carrier accidentally posted the prices the three models will retail for in Europe and the specs sheet of the models. Although the pages have been taken down, a tipster was able to grab some screenshots (pictured) before the removal.</p>

<p>Going by the listing, the vanilla Galaxy S21 with 128GB storage will sell for €849 off-contract. On the other hand, the Galaxy S21+ will retail for €1,049 while the Galaxy S21 Ultra will sell for €1,399 for the base 128GB storage variants. This is similar to the €1,000 price tag for the Ultra which was earlier tipped. Another interesting aspect, going by this leak, is that the other two models are still cheaper than their predecessors.</p>

<p>Taking a look at the specs sheets grabbed from Voo&#8217;s website before the landing pages were removed, we can gather that the EU version may likely launch with an Exynos 2100 chipset onboard. Considering the efforts put in by Samsung in the chip development, we expect the performance to be topnotch. Samsung will equally launch Snapdragon 888-powered versions for select markets.</p>

<p>Having first appeared on a Korean site <a href="https://cafe.naver.com/develoid/951821">Naver</a>, Twitter user Tron(@<a href="https://twitter.com/FrontTron/status/1346261654573518848">FrontTron</a>) has spotted the likely &#8216;Over The Horizon&#8217; theme for Galaxy&#8217; S21. The overall clip is 3:34 long and the video has an overlay of the naming throughout. Further, as you can see below, the tune rendition is of subtle Piano sounds this time.</p>
<p>Samsung loads this jingle every year by default on Galaxy S-series. You can use it for Notification, caller ringtones, and even as a sound during the Power On/Off. That said, the leaked ringtone has its high-moments shortly at a few places. However, the 15-30 secs tone after the 0:15 mark gives the usual &#8220;Horizon vibes&#8221;.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Over the Horizon 2021" width="696" height="522" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IEaifbzjfFI?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK</span>: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/19/download-galaxy-s21-plus-ultra-official-wallpapers/">Download Galaxy S21 series official wallpapers from here</a></strong></h6>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Besides, this tone also has a few similarities to the Galaxy S9 version. The two-year-old theme had a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/20/samsung-unveils-new-version-horizon-default-ringtone-galaxy-s9/">few combinations of Piano and Drumbeats</a> from the notes of musician Jónsson. Either way, the latest one(<a href="https://nl.letsgodigital.org/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s21-ringtone/">via</a>) doesn&#8217;t have too much bass like the earlier versions from the 2011s.</p>
<p>Samsung has confirmed that its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/04/official-samsung-galaxy-unpacked-2021-will-be-held-on-january-14/">next Unpacked event</a> will be held on January 14. A teaser depicting the Camera layout hints that the devices will indeed be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/samsung-galaxy-s21-series-official-cases-leak-as-launch-draws-closer/">leaked Galaxy S21 series</a>. It is expected to unveil three devices-  <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-5g">Galaxy S21</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-plus-5g">Galaxy S21+</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-5g">and Galaxy S21 Ultra</a>.</p>
<p>Everything about the Galaxy S21 series <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/26/samsung-galaxy-s21-s21-plus-leak-new-leak-reveals-everything-from-specifications-to-pricing/">including their specs</a> has already been leaked. In fact, we also know about the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/19/samsung-galaxy-s21-s21-s21-ultra-pricing-for-the-european-markets-leaked/">complete list of prices</a> for Europe. The devices are reportedly up for pre-orders in countries like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/samsung-galaxy-s21-reservation-usa/">US</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/18/samsung-galaxy-s21-pre-orders-started-in-china-before-xiaomi-mi-11s-launch/">China,</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/galaxy-s21-plus-ultra-blind-pre-order-price-india/">India</a>.</p>
<p>Alongside the S21 devices, Samsung is also expected to unveil the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/04/samsung-galaxy-buds-pro-website-listing/">Galaxy Buds Pro TWS</a> and it&#8217;s Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/01/samsung-galaxy-smarttag-ncc-certification/">Galaxy SmartTag</a> Bluetooth tracker.</p>

<p>A <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> device with model number SM-G998B <a href="https://fccid.io/A3LSMG998B">appears</a>(via <a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-s-pen-1186549/">Android Authority</a>) on America&#8217;s FCC certification website. Now, this belongs to one of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/24/galaxy-s21-series-will-include-three-devices-sm-g991-sm-g996-sm-g998/">upcoming Galaxy S21 series</a> as per earlier reports. Precisely, several instances like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/05/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-receives-nfc-certification/">NFC certification</a> and China&#8217;s 3C show a variant similar to this with SM-G998U model number. Anyhow, this is likely the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-5g/">Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G</a>.</p>
<p>Moving on, the Wireless Charging Test report of SM-G998B reveals that it will support a stylus device(S-PEN). Previously, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/12/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-5g-again-tipped-to-come-with-s-pen-support/">multiple rumors</a> said that the Galaxy S21 Ultra will get the S-Pen functionality but won&#8217;t have the shaft to hold it. Since the report also indicates &#8220;support&#8221; of a stylus, we feel Samsung might not add it in the box. And sell it along with a Case to hold it as an accessory.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361695" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1363" height="484" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC.jpg 1363w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC-300x107.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC-768x273.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC-1024x364.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC-696x247.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC-1068x379.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/S21-Ultra-S-Pen-Support-FCC-1183x420.jpg 1183w" sizes="(max-width: 1363px) 100vw, 1363px" /></p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK</span>: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/22/samsung-first-look-2021-event-6-january/">Samsung to unveil new display technology and products on January 6</a></strong></h6>
<p>That said, the test report also says that users can use the S-PEN in two different modes- Hover and Click. For the unaware, Hover is when you hold the stylus above the screen without touching and perform certain functions. It will be interesting to see how Samsung will position the S21 Ultra if it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/16/samsung-not-discontinue-galaxy-note-series-2021/">continues the Note-series</a> as per reports.</p>
<p>Either way, Galaxy S21 Ultra is shaping out to be an ultra-premium flagship of 2021. A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/19/galaxy-s21-ultra-specs-features-leak/">leak on the entire specifications</a> says it will sport a Metal-Glass sandwich design, Gorilla Glass Victus for protection. It will feature a 6.8-inch Infinity-O-Edge Dynamic <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OLED/">AMOLED</a> 120Hz LTPO display, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/exynos-2100">Exynos 2100</a>(IN, Korea, EU)/<a href="http://www.gizmochinacom/tag/snapdragon-888">Snapdragon 888</a> (US, China) chipset, up to 12GB RAM, 512GB storage.</p>
<p>Coming back, the NFC listing also reveals that Samsung&#8217;s top-of-the-line flagship will include Ultra-Wide Band(<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/UWB">UWB</a>), <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/NFC">NFC</a>, Wireless charging, Reverse Wireless charging, and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wi-fi-6e">Wi-Fi 6E</a> support. The device is likely to debut in mid-January of 2021 and expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/23/samsung-galaxy-s21-series-detailed-pricing-leak-for-european-markets-appear/">start at EUR 1,349 in Europe</a>.</p>

<p>Samsung&#8217;s flagship retail store has reportedly <a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s21-launch-date-india-availability-1184543/">confirmed</a> to Android Authority that the entire <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s21-series">Galaxy S21 series</a> will be powered by the Exynos 2100 chipset in India. However, Samsung hasn&#8217;t announced it yet, and is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/samsung-teases-announcement-for-december-15-might-be-for-the-exynos-2100/">likely to do it on December 15</a>. Early benchmarks <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/19/samsung-galaxy-s21-sd875-geekbench/">reveal</a> a stronger multi-core performance against the Qualcomm counterpart.</p>
<p>However, it&#8217;s still a mystery if <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>&#8216;s processor will surpass <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> in real-world tests. Either way, it is sure to turn eyeballs with a 5nm process and 1+3+4 core arrangement. The cores are likely 1xPrime core clocked at 2.91GHz, 3xPerformance and 4xEfficiency cores clocked at 2.81, and 2.21GHz respectively.</p>
<p>In case you don&#8217;t know, Samsung will launch three models of the S21 Series- <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-5g/">Galaxy S21 5G</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s21-plus-5g/">S21+ 5G</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-5g/">S21 Ultra 5G</a>. Anyway, the Galaxy S21 Series will have the following color variants in India:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Galaxy S21</strong>&#8211; Gray, Pink, Purple, and White.</li>
<li><strong>Galaxy S21 Plus</strong>&#8211;  Silver, Black, Pink, and Purple.</li>
<li><strong>Galaxy S21 Ultra</strong>&#8211; Black, Silver.</li>
</ul>
<p>Further, the store has also confirmed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/07/galaxy-s21-plus-ultra-live-image-picture-photo-camera-specs-leak/">Galaxy S21 Ultra&#8217;s camera specs</a> that have already been leaked. Accordingly, the device will have a 108MP main camera, 2x10MP sensors(one will have 10x Zoom), and most likely a 12MP sensor.</p>
<p>The device is reportedly up for pre-orders in the flagship store. Users will have to pay ₹2,000($27) to pre-book an S21 flagship. And after the official announcement, they can select their preferred model. With all these leaks, I guess the only thing that is left to know is the official pricing.</p>

<p>According to the <a href="http://www.tizenhelp.com/one-ui-3-1-update-will-rollout-earlier-than-we-think/">report</a>, a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> representative in South Korea has revealed the development while answering to a user. To corroborate this, the report shares a screenshot that shows a user reporting his concern for errors in Night mode. To this, the Samsung support team replies(Google Translated) that the update will be correct by <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> at its end by December. Later, Samsung will proceed with tweaks and deliver it in the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1 update</a>.</p>
<p>With this, the company indirectly confirms that it&#8217;s working on the next version of the UI. Also, as the report says, the One UI 3.1 will likely debut at the Galaxy S21 launch that is likely on January 14, 2021. This is because Samsung has introduced newer versions of the UI with the Major flagship launches in the past. For instance, the company launched the One UI 2.1 based on Android 10 with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/12/samsung-galaxy-s20-and-galaxy-s20-plus-launch-with-significant-upgrades/">Galaxy S20 series</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/11/samsungs-second-foldable-device-arrives-as-the-1380-galaxy-z-flip/">Z Flip</a> out of the box.</p>
<p>Similarly, the company brought the One UI 2.5 with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/samsung-galaxy-note-20-galaxy-note-20-ultra-are-official/">Galaxy Note 20 series</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/samsung-galaxy-tab-s7-tab-s7-with-an-sd865-soc-s-pen-support-launched/">Galaxy Tab S7</a> back in August. For One UI 3.0, it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/06/samsung-announces-android-11-based-one-ui-3-developer-beta-for-galaxy-s20-series/">started</a> a Beta program in August for its flagships to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/31/samsung-one-ui-3-0-features-teaser/">test out the features</a> before a stable rollout. Anyway, we will have to play the waiting game to know what improvements the new 3.1 UI will bring to the table over the One UI 3.0.</p>
<p>In case you don&#8217;t know Samsung is working on the next S series of flagships dubbed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/02/galaxy-s21-plus-leaks-in-high-quality-3d-cad-renders/">Galaxy S21</a>. The three devices will probably be called <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Galaxy-S21/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S21</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Galaxy-S21+">Galaxy S21+</a>, and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Galaxy-S21-Ultra/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S21 Ultra</a>. Samsung is likely to bring features like 120Hz AMOLED display, a 64MP Telephoto camera,  <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Snapdragon-888/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm Snapdragon 888</a>/<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/exynos-2100">Exynos2 100</a> SoC, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/12/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-108mp-camera-65w-charging/">108MP main camera, and 65W charging</a>.</p>

<p>As reported by <a href="https://www.tizenhelp.com/galaxy-buds-pro-passed-fcc-certification/">Tizenhelp</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung">Samsung</a>&#8216;s FCC <a href="https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&amp;RequestTimeout=500&amp;calledFromFrame=N&amp;application_id=1TUB2dZeTeaAm7QaNfpnsQ%3D%3D&amp;fcc_id=A3LSMR190L">listing</a> follows the same SM-R190 model number. Along with this, the listing yet again confirms that the next wireless earbuds will indeed darn the &#8220;Buds Pro&#8221; moniker. Besides, the FCC listing also bottom images of the charging case.</p>
<p>Accordingly, the design reveals a squircle(square shape with rounded corners) shape similar to the Galaxy Buds Live. And it is different from the rectangular design of the Buds+. The cradle(case) has a model number EP-QR190 that also appeared on Korea&#8217;s NRRA certification. That said, the design of the earbuds is still a mystery but reports say it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/27/new-galaxy-buds-model-galaxy-s21-series/">will adopt Buds+ &#8220;in-ear&#8221; design</a> and not the bean-shape of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/samsung-galaxy-buds-live-with-anc-and-21-hours-battery-life-launches-for-169-e189/">Galaxy Buds Live</a>.</p>

<p>Coming back, as per the report(<a href="https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/samsung-galaxy-buds-pro-fcc-sgs-battery-capacity-revealed/">MSP</a>), the Buds Pro has also received SGS certification. It shows a similar model number SM-R190 but has it listed with a 58mAh battery. This is probably the capacity of each earbuds as the early <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/16/samsung-galaxy-buds-beyond-certified-at-3c-revealing-the-battery-capacity/">3C certification of China hinted at a 472mAh</a> on the charging case. To compare, the Galaxy Buds Live&#8217;s charging case has a similar battery capacity but it&#8217;s earbuds have 60mAh each.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-357285" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Buds-Pro-SGS.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="796" height="309" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Buds-Pro-SGS.jpg 796w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Buds-Pro-SGS-300x116.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Buds-Pro-SGS-768x298.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Buds-Pro-SGS-696x270.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 796px) 100vw, 796px" /></p>
<p>The Galaxy &#8216;Buds Pro&#8217; from all these leaks looks to have a similar charging case like the Buds Live but will reportedly have an in-ear design like the older Buds TWS(Buds, Buds+) models. Anyway, we don&#8217;t have a lot of info on the earbuds but reports say that it will have <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ANC">ANC</a>(Active Noise Cancellation), improved &#8216;Ambient Mode&#8217;. However, I&#8217;m pretty sure that we will be getting more details in the coming days.</p>

There is the fingerprint scanner, face unlock, PIN, password, and the good old pattern unlock. One other way albeit uncommon is voice unlock and the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s21">Galaxy S21</a> series may be bringing it back.</p>
<p>Yes, bringing it back because <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> used to offer the feature for some of its phones with Bixby but the feature was later removed. It has now been reported that the Galaxy S21 series will bring back the feature when it arrives next year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-357128" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Bixby-voice-unlock.jpg?x44794" alt="Bixby voice unlock" width="344" height="274" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Bixby-voice-unlock.jpg 344w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Bixby-voice-unlock-300x239.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px" /></p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s21-features-include-bixby-voice-as-biometric-option/">SamMobile</a></em>, the feature will be added back to One UI 3.1 which will debut on the Galaxy S21 series. The previous version allows users to unlock their device by saying “Hi Bixby”, so there is a chance when it makes its return next year, users will be able to unlock their phone the same way.</p>
<p>While the official Samsung support page for when the feature was still supported says that it is perfectly safe to unlock your phone with the “Hi Bixby” voice command, there are still reservations about the feature considering more advanced biometric features such as Face ID and fingerprint unlock can be fooled. Nevertheless, the option to be able to unlock your phone with your voice can come in handy in situations where you can&#8217;t operate your phone with your hand or can&#8217;t unlock it with your face.</p>

<p>According to Reuters&#8217; <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-samsung-elec-smartphone/samsung-may-launch-flagship-phone-early-to-grab-huawei-share-sources-idUSKBN27P05F">sources</a>, Samsung will launch the next <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s21-series">Galaxy S21 series</a> Flagship a month earlier in 2021. With this, it might be planning to bank on the US ban on Huawei and grab its <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/market-share">market share</a>. And in turn, thwart <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> from gaining any more grounds. In fact, the report says that Samsung is preparing to launch the new Galaxy S21 early as late-January 2021.</p>
<p>This way it is likely to jump the launch by more than a month compared to 2020 when the Galaxy S20 series <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/03/bts-themed-galaxy-s20-plus-and-galaxy-buds-plus-launching-on-july-9/">debuted</a> in 2019. Plus, this corroborates with the earlier report that has speculated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/03/samsung-galaxy-s21-series-launch-and-pre-order-dates-revealed/">January 14</a> as the announcement date.</p>
<p>Besides, a source for Reuters says that Huawei&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/26/huawei-survival-mode-suppliers-beat-us-deadline/">stockpiles</a> will run out by early next year. This is understandable considering the company has not launched a lot of devices outside of China in 2020. And it&#8217;s recent <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/01/jingdong-celebrates-100-million-sales-of-huawei-mate-40-series-with-a-drone-show/">Huawei Mate 40 series</a> is already facing shortage in some regions in its home country.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/30/samsung-expand-foldable-phone-portfolio-2021/">Samsung to expand its foldable smartphone portfolio in 2021</a></strong></h6>
<h4><strong>Can Samsung succeed by jumping the gun?</strong></h4>
<p>To take advantage of this, and stiffen the competition to Apple, Samsung is reportedly on course for the launch next year. Samsung has had a roller coaster of a year in 2020. To recall, it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/30/huawei-leading-smartphone-company-q2-2020/">temporarily lost the lead</a> to Huawei back in Q2 2020. But quickly grabbed it back in Q3 with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/30/samsung-reclaims-global-smartphone-market-throne-outperforms-expectations-in-q3-2020/">2.9% YoY growth</a> amongst an intense pandemic situation.</p>
<p>Similarly, the company recorded less than a 59% YoY shipment decline in the US compared to Apple. That is the latter reportedly sold 15% iPhone 11 there which is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/03/apple-iphone-11-best-selling-phone-in-the-world/">world&#8217;s best selling smartphone</a> in H1 2020. But it has risen back to fame in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/09/samsung-us-largest-smartphone-brand-q3-2020/">US</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/09/samsung-is-the-top-phone-vendor-in-europe-in-q3-2020-xiaomi-is-third-canalys/">Europe</a>.</p>
<p>Thus, the company will be keenly looking to attack early rather than playing the defense this time considering 2021 will be a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/07/global-smartphone-shipments-growth-2021/">revival year</a>. That said, industry officials from South Korea hope that the US President-elect Joe Biden will ease some restrictions. This could happen albeit the country looks to show a sturdy attitude against China.</p>
<p>This uncertainty, adds fuel to the fire as it already faces tough competition from <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">Oppo</a>. All this could have made Samsung to take an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/16/samsung-galaxy-s21-to-enter-production-a-month-early-could-arrive-in-jan-2021-along-with-galaxy-buds-2/">early jump</a> with Galaxy S21 series.</p>

<p>The new tip comes from a well-known Ice Universe who <a href="https://twitter.com/UniverseIce/status/1324993628071108608">says</a>(via <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s21-ultra-to-support-120hz-refresh-rate-at-qhd">Sammobile</a>) that <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s21-ultra">Galaxy S21 Ultra</a> will have a display up to 2K resolution. For the unware, 2K is between 1080p and 4K. Depending on the size of the display panel, it can be up to 1440&#215;3088 pixels. Plus, the tweet reads, &#8220;2K+120Hz&#8221;. This could mean that the display will support 120Hz at 2K resolution. If this is true, then it will be the first of its kind for a Samsung device.</p>
<h4><strong>First-ever Samsung to sport 120Hz at 2K?</strong></h4>
<p>This is because Samsung&#8217;s flagships <del>or any other devices</del>, albeit having a 120Hz refresh rate screen, don&#8217;t support it on the highest resolution. In fact, if you select 120Hz as a refresh rate on Samsung, you are basically downscaled and locked to <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/1080P">FHD+(1080p) resolution</a>. And its latest flagships like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-20-ultra/">Galaxy Note 20 Ultra</a> is no exception to this. The best Samsung has done so far, is having an &#8220;Adaptive Mode&#8221; on devices like the Note 20 Ultra.</p>
<p>This basically toggles(60Hz or 120Hz) the refresh rate based on what you do. This is probably to help the panel, and battery last longer. However, with Galaxy S21 Ultra, it looks like Samsung is going to break the barriers. If the tip is true, the next flagship could have an option to lock the 120Hz at 2K resolution <del>which is a first in any phone</del>.</p>
<h4><strong>Galaxy S21 Ultra: Specifications(Expected)</strong></h4>
<p>The Galaxy S21 series, as a whole, will reportedly enter production by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/16/samsung-galaxy-s21-to-enter-production-a-month-early-could-arrive-in-jan-2021-along-with-galaxy-buds-2/">mid-December</a>. However, a tip says that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/02/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-already-in-production/">part production</a> of Galaxy S21 Ultra like DVT/PVT might have already begun. Anyway, the device(SM-G998U), which has already got <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/05/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-receives-nfc-certification/">NFC certification</a>, will likely sport a 6.8-inch display with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/18/renders-give-us-an-early-look-at-the-galaxy-s21-and-galaxy-s21-ultra/">centered punch-hole</a>.</p>
<p>Besides, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/26/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-new-leak-reveals-key-specifications/">leaked specifications</a> of the device say the display will be dynamic AMOLED. For cameras, we can expect a new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/08/leak-reveals-galaxy-s21-ultra-camera-details-new-108mp-sensor-tof-sensor-removed/">108MP 0.8µm HM3 primary sensor</a>, laser autofocus, and no ToF sensor inside the quad/<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/29/new-galaxy-s21-s30-ultra-render-shows-five-sensors/">Penta</a> camera setup. Other expected specifications include a 40MP selfie shooter, Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-875">Snapdragon 875</a>/<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/exynos-2100">Exynos 2100 SoC</a> based on regions, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/22/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-battery/">5,000mAh</a> battery with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/19/galaxy-s21-ultra-will-have-a-new-108mp-primary-camera-may-support-60w-fast-charging-too/">60W</a> charging, Android 11, and more. It is expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/03/samsung-galaxy-s21-series-launch-and-pre-order-dates-revealed/">launch on January 14</a> and open for sale by January 29.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung&#8217;s</a> trademark, as spotted by <a href="https://www.galaxyclub.nl/nieuws/samsung-legt-buds-beyond-naam-vast-in-eu/">GalaxyClub</a>(via <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/buds-beyond-new-earbuds-samsung-galaxy-s21/">Sammobile</a>), is &#8216;Buds Beyond&#8217;. Now, as per the report, the description on EUIPO is pretty generic under Class 9. In the list, we can spot a few keywords like &#8220;Wireless headset for Smartphones&#8221;, &#8220;earphones&#8221; etc. That said, the naming does have a keyword &#8220;Buds&#8221; which has been widely used on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-buds/">earlier models</a>. But we will have to wait a bit more to confirm if it&#8217;s the next TWS Earbuds from Samsung.</p>
<p>Anyway, the trademark, as of October 29, is still waiting for an examination at European Intellectual Property Office(EUIPO). Besides, we don&#8217;t have any other information apart from a simple name. Now before you get clunky, we do have few tidbits about the next alleged Earbuds from the company. Reports from Korea says mentions &#8216;Galaxy Buds 2&#8217; from Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/16/samsung-galaxy-s21-to-enter-production-a-month-early-could-arrive-in-jan-2021-along-with-galaxy-buds-2/">will debut</a> alongside the Galaxy S21/S30 series. Not only the report&#8217;s naming is contrary to the current trademark, but also says it will have upgraded water resistance.</p>
<p>It is reportedly codenamed &#8220;Attic&#8221; and attire Black, Silver, and Violet colors. Before you take a breather, Samsung also has a trademark that has a naming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/09/samsung-galaxy-buds-sound-might-be-the-companys-next-earbuds-report/">[Galaxy] Buds Sound</a>. That said, you must know that these are just trademarks, and may/may not corroborate with each other. Meaning, all the naming above could either turn out to be separate products or get stuck as trademarks forever.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, Samsung is likely to begin the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/16/samsung-galaxy-s21-to-enter-production-a-month-early-could-arrive-in-jan-2021-along-with-galaxy-buds-2/">production of its Galaxy S21/S30 series</a> devices soon. And if a new TWS earbuds indeed launches alongside the smartphones in Jan 2021, we will have to wait and see if Samsung brings any design improvements over <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/samsung-galaxy-buds-live-with-anc-and-21-hours-battery-life-launches-for-169-e189/">Buds Live</a>.
