Several reports have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Fan Edition does not exist. However, a fresh leak reveals that the Galaxy S22 FE does exist. It appears that the device may come equipped with a MediaTek chip.

A tweet released by a leaker reveals that the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy Buds 2 will be coming soon. Another known leaker, Dohyun Kim, has confirmed the arrival of these devices, but he also said that the Galaxy S22 FE won’t be coming.

Speculations are rife that Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on Feb. 1 to announce the Galaxy S23 series. According to another tipper (RGcloudS), Samsung will announce some products, like the Galaxy S22 FE and Galaxy Tab S8 FE, in the second part of Unpacked event. We believe that these devices may get a soft launch a couple of weeks after the Galaxy S23 series goes official.

The tipster claimed that the Galaxy S2 FE would arrive instead of the Galaxy A74. To those who are unaware, the company is already said to be working on a couple of new A-series phones, such as the Galaxy A14, A24, A34, and A54. However, there is no news on the existence of the A74, which suggests that it may have been cancelled.

The leak states that the Galaxy S22 FE will launch instead of the Galaxy A74. It may arrive with the Exynos 2300 chipset and the Samsung ISOCEL HM6 108-megapixel primary camera. The S22 FE is expected to cost the same as the Galaxy A73, which was announced for $499 earlier this year.

The Galaxy Tab S8 FE is also expected to feature the same Exynos 2300 chipset. The leak further revealed that the second Unpacked event, which will be held in Q3 2023, will see the arrival of the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

A recent report claimed that Samsung may not launch the Galaxy S22 FE (Fan Edition) this year. Now, a new report by South Korean publication The Elec claims that Samsung has stopped developing the Galaxy S22 FE. Instead of releasing the S22 FE, the company supposedly wants to sell more units of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

According to the report, Samsung has allocated the chipsets that were supposed to be used on the Galaxy S22 FE chips to the S22 Ultra in order to increase its production. The S22 Ultra has reportedly been met with strong sales amid a chipset shortage issue. The South Korean tech giant will aim at selling more units of the S22 Ultra to boost sales and profits.

Samsung had previously planned to produce 3 million units of the Galaxy S22 FE this year. While the S22 FE seems to have been axed, the report claims that the Galaxy S23 FE will debut next year. It even mentions that the company plans to produce 3 million units of the S23 FE.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is Samsung’s first Galaxy S-series phone to feature a built-in stylus. The annual shipments of the Galaxy S-series have been declining for the past two years. However, the company has sold 10 million units of the S22 Ultra in the first half of 2022 and it expects to ship the same number of units in the second half of the year. The S22 Ultra is driving the sales of the S22 lineup. Hence, it appears that the company is reassigning S22 FE chips to S22 Ultra.

When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S20 FE in 2020, it said that it would be launching FE variants every year. While the S22 FE seems to be cancelled, it appears that it will bring back the FE model next year by launching the Galaxy S23 FE.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE) as an affordable flagship phone in September 2020. The Galaxy S21 FE was announced as its successor in January this year. Back in September 2020, the company claimed that it would continue to launch new Fan Edition models in the coming years. However, a new report by Sammobile reveals that Samsung could be planning to discontinue the FE series.

The publication has claimed that it has learnt through multiple sources that the South Korean company will not be releasing the Galaxy S22 FE. Based on the model numbers of the previous models, the S22 FE was supposed to carry the SM-S900 model number. The research done by the publication shows that the model number does not exist.

While the Galaxy S21 FE went official this year, it was expected to debut last year since leaked renders and specifications started surfacing by June 2021. At present, there are no leaks to prove the existence of the Galaxy S22 FE. There is a possibility that the South Korean company could be found to include it in its product portfolio.

It seems that the Galaxy S21 FE failed to make a notable impact on the market. The reason behind it could be that it was expected to launch in Q3 2021, but its arrival was delayed to January 2021. Within a few weeks, it announced the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. Once the new flagship entered the market, customers may have lost interest in the S21 FE.

In August, the company will be announcing the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 along with the Galaxy Watch 5 series. It remains to be seen whether Samsung has any plans to launch a different affordable flagship in Q4 this year.

Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE has been a favorite for some and uninteresting for others. Whatever be the case, its successor was said to be in the pipeline this year. However, a new leak reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE may not actually happen.

According to a Korean blog, there’s a possibility that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE will not be released this year. It is said that there’s no available development firmware for the smartphone, nor does the development team have any AP-related content for the device. As per Dohyun Kim, this is similar to the Galaxy Note 21’s situation where the sign of its availability was little to none.

As of now, there’s no official confirmation regarding this by the brand, so it’s recommended to take the information with a grain of salt.

Although the phone’s not arriving this year, we expect it to launch sometime later. Previous rumors have revealed that the phone could arrive with a Dimensity chipset. However, the most recent leaks opposed it and hinted that the phone could stick to Exynos or Snapdragon SoCs. At the moment, the exact chipset isn’t confirmed.

Other than the chipset, the S22 FE is expected to come with a similar design as the Galaxy S22. We aren’t sure whether it will go with the plastic shell like the S21 FE or have better-built quality. More details of the phone remain unknown.

A new rumor has suggested that Samsung Electronics does not have any plans of shifting its flagship lineup of smartphones away from its proprietary Exynos and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoCs.

For those unaware, there were rumors that had recently surfaced, which had hinted at the South Korean tech giant possibly moving to MediaTek chipsets. These Dimensity SoCs would reportedly power its upcoming Galaxy S22 FE model. Similarly, Korean media also added that the next gen Galaxy S23 series might also make the shift to MediaTek Dimensity chipsets. Since these are flagship models, the processors would be within the Dimensity 9000 series.

But a new tweet has suggested otherwise. According to Yogesh Brar, we might not be seeing a MediaTek Dimensity powered premium Samsung phone for a while now. In other words, we can still expect the brand to ship the Galaxy S22 FE or the Galaxy S23 lineup with either the Snapdragon or Exynos chipsets, depending on the market. Although, Samsung may still have future plans or could even be mulling over this decision right now. So, it’s hard to tell if it is entirely out of the picture.

However, if it does decide to make the transition, it is likely that it will replace the Snapdragon variants in favor of the Dimensity chips, rather than discontinuing its proprietary chips. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more updates regarding this matter.

More Samsung Galaxy-branded smartphones now use MediaTek chipsets than ever before. However, these chips are either entry-level or mid-range models. This is going to change soon as a rumor now says that the South Korean electronics giant is gearing up to launch a handset powered by MediaTek’s latest flagship mobile SoC.

According to a Chinese tipster on Weibo (via SamMobile), Samsung is working on a smartphone powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC. This phone will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery.

He does not know the market name of the device. But he does say that the handset could be either Galaxy A53 Pro or Galaxy S22 FE. The former sounds unbelievable as there would be a huge performance between the Pro and the vanilla model. But the latter could be a possibility.

Also, it is worth noting that usually Samsung experiments with new features on its Galaxy A series. Hence, this phone could be some high-end Galaxy A lineup model instead of Galaxy S22 FE. 

That said, If this rumor is true, then we are looking forward to learning more about the Dimensity 9000-powered Samsung Galaxy smartphone in the coming days. But ahead of that, the company will be debuting its first Dimesnity 900 phone called Galaxy M53 5G on March 27.
