<p>The news arrives from Indkal Technologies CEO Anand Dubey who told <a href="https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/acer-tvs-120hz-display-launch-india-this-year-company-confirms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>91Mobiles</em></a> that An Acer television with an advanced 120Hz refresh rate display and a specifically tuned audio setup is currently in the works.&#8221; In other words, we can expect this smart TV to launch around the end of this year, with the key focus being on the high refresh rate and its audio setup.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the senior executive also hinted that the new 120Hz smart TVs will be geared more towards gamers. A higher refresh rate typically means a more smoother gameplay experience, so this doesn&#8217;t arrive as a surprise. Dubey further added that &#8220;We are expecting to make this gaming series available in the market by the end of the year and are optimistic that our customers will appreciate the choice of feature loaded smart TVs offered by Acer televisions.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-471461 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022.jpg?x10805" alt="Acer I-Series televisions" width="1200" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Acer-Televisions-I-Series-2022-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>Additionally, he also said that the brand is actively working on trying to improve products and offer better value to its customers. While finer details weren&#8217;t shared regarding this upcoming gaming centric smart TV, and recently announced H series and and S series featured a built in soundbar that supported Dolby Audio and Dolby Vision. So we can expect a similar setup or maybe even a better speaker configuration for gamers.</p>

<p>The news arrives from @数码闲聊站 who found this yet to be announced device. He even shared a screenshot of this listing which revealed some details regarding this upcoming smartphone. This handset will support up to 33W fast charging and will house a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MediaTek Dimensity</a> series 5G chipset. Furthermore, it will sport a display with a high refresh rate and a punch hole selfie camera on the front while the rear features a 50 megapixel primary camera.</p>

<p>As of right now, it is unclear as to which series this new model will belong to and might even be a new device for the company&#8217;s budget brand <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/redmi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi</a>. Although, that is just speculation at the moment so take this report with a pinch of salt for now. Unfortunately, finer details regarding this device is also unknown for the time being, so stay tuned for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this new handset.</p>

The Cupertino-based tech giant has applied for a patent of an iPhone display with a variable refresh rate.</p>
<p>The patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (<em><a href="https://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2021/02/apple-wins-a-patent-for-displays-with-multiple-refresh-rate-modes-ranging-from-60-120hz-and-much-higher.html">via Patently Apple</a></em>) describes an iPhone display that, with high refresh mode enabled, may be capable of updating content at two times, three times, or even four times the native refresh rate.</p>
<figure id="attachment_363846" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-363846" style="width: 4000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-363846 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 12 All Colors Featured" width="4000" height="2375" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-768x456.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-1024x608.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-696x413.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-1068x634.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-707x420.jpg 707w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Apple-iPhone-12-All-Colors-Featured-1920x1140.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-363846" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone 12</figcaption></figure>
<p>The refresh rate of the display can be changed from 60Hz to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/120hz">120Hz</a>, 180Hz, and 240Hz automatically. It&#8217;s noteworthy that all current iPhone models come with a 60Hz refresh rate but the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad-pro">iPad Pro</a> with ProMotion technology has a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz.</p>
<p>Earlier, there were rumors that the Apple <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-12">iPhone 12</a> will come with a 120Hz refresh rate but that proved to be untrue. However, it seems like there is a higher possibility that the iPhone 13 models will have a ProMotion display.</p>
<p>One of the reasons Apple may have stayed away from offering a higher refresh rate on its iPhones despite its competitors offering such high-end features is that offering a 120Hz or <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/240hz">240Hz refresh rate</a> could affect the battery performance.</p>
<p>But now it is being reported that to solve the battery performance issue with a higher refresh rate, the company could be adopting low-power LTPO display technology for the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-13">iPhone 13</a> models.</p>

<p>Global VP of <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> and MD, Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, and a lot of other Redmi employees have posted teasing the launch of <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-note-10">Redmi Note 10</a> in India. Every video of them includes a #SM10THChallenge. In the video, he says the company will make an announcement on February 10 at 10:00 AM IST.</p>
<p>He also says in a <a href="https://twitter.com/manukumarjain/status/1359057774001287172?s=20">tweet</a> that a Smoothest Smartphone from Redmi India is coming. All this clearly hints that he is talking about the Redmi Note 10 launch in India. Earlier, tipster Ishan Agarwal had tipped that Xiaomi <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/20/redmi-note-10-pro-mi-11-lite-india-launch-storage-colors-leak/">will bring the Redmi Note 10 series</a> to the country this month.</p>
<p>Further, the &#8220;smoothest&#8221; keyword in every teaser suggests that the Note 10 series will finally bring displays having a high refresh rate. If you recall, all the POCO mid-range(<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-x2">POCO X2</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/23/poco-x3-india-edition-drops-nfc-to-house-a-larger-6000mah-battery/">X3</a>) and Xiaomi&#8217;s newly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/05/xiaomi-mi-10i-5g-with-120hz-display-snapdragon-750g-flagship-108mp-hm2-camera-launched-for-rs-20999-287/">launched</a> Mi 10i support 120Hz displays.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>However, the yesteryear Redmi Note 9 series that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/12/redmi-note-9-pro-max-debuts-with-sd720g-64mp-quad-cameras-32mp-front-camera-5000mah-33w-fast-charging-and-more/">launched in India</a> back in March 2020, came with a 60Hz LCD. Although high refresh rate wasn&#8217;t really a trend back then, competitors like realme brought the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-6-pro">realme 6 Pro</a> with 90Hz panels. Still, Xiaomi managed to sell a good amount of Note 9 series in the country.</p>
<p>That said, we aren&#8217;t sure if the devices would have LCD or AMOLED but it&#8217;s most likely the former with a 120Hz panel. Anyway, Xiaomi is expected to launch two devices inside the Redmi Note 10 series- <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-Note-10/">Redmi Note 10</a> (M2101K7AG) and a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-Note-10-Pro/">Redmi Note 10 Pro</a> (M2101K6AG). The former will come in White, Green, or Grey colors while the latter will be available in Bronze, Blue, and Grey variants.</p>
<p>As for Specs, nothing concrete is known yet but the devices have already <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/08/redmi-note-10-pro-5g-india-launch-could-be-imminent-as-it-bags-bis-certification/">received India&#8217;s BIS</a> certification. The &#8216;Pro&#8217; variant might sport POCO X3&#8217;s design and a Snapdragon 732G chipset inside but it&#8217;s just a guess right now.</p>
<p>A recent tip also says that Redmi Note 10 will come in 4/6GB RAM, 64GB storage while the Note 10 Pro will have 6/8GB RAM, 64/128GB option.</p>

The news was shared on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-312616 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202.png?x10805" alt="Realme" width="1318" height="712" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202.png 1318w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202-300x162.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202-768x415.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202-1024x553.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202-696x376.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202-1068x577.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Screenshot-202-777x420.png 777w" sizes="(max-width: 1318px) 100vw, 1318px" /></p>
<p>The announcement arrived from Xu Qi, the Vice President and President of Global Marketing of Realme, and ramps up the anticipation for its 2020 flagships. Previously, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer had launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-x50-pro-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Realme X50 Pro</a> on 12th March 2020, which featured a 6.44 inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a screen sampling rate of 180Hz. Being the flagship handset, it even sported Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 865 SoC and other top notch specs.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/25/xiaomi-vp-coronavirus-outbreak-doesnt-severely-affect-its-phone-sales-talks-about-competition-with-huawei/">Xiaomi VP: Coronavirus outbreak doesn’t severely affect its phone sales, talks about competition with Huawei</a></strong></h6>
<p>While a higher refresh rate translates to better user experience in terms of daily usage, media, and gaming, the drawbacks are clear with a faster battery drain. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/24/redmi-gm-explains-why-the-redmi-k30-pro-only-features-a-60hz-display/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">We have already seen such an example with the Redmi K30 Pro</a>, which is the flagship but has a standard 60Hz display unlike the 120Hz found in the base K30 variant. So, we will have to wait and see just how well the implementation actually is and how high Realme&#8217;s plans on outputting it display panels.</p>

<p>The likely option is above at least 75Hz. So, a 90Hz display may be the go to option. However, this is just speculation and Realme could possibly also opt for a 120Hz display to trump its competition. Although this is again unconfirmed so take it with a grain of salt. More information should arrive soon as well, stay tuned.</p>

As per a report by Digitimes, 5G will surge the demand for display technologies across various sectors.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-258015" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5g-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="5G Logo" width="980" height="637" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5g-logo.jpg 980w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5g-logo-300x195.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5g-logo-768x499.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5g-logo-696x452.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/5g-logo-646x420.jpg 646w" sizes="(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The fifth-generation mobile technology, commonly known as </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">5G </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">is capable of offering high-speed internet to the masses when it is commercialized across the world. Faster internet enables innovative applications like cloud gaming, even better media streaming, virtual reality, augmented reality, and others. Further, these functions require better screens to enjoy the content and therefore display industry is expected to flourish more in the coming years.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The four display trends that will boom on account of 5G are AMOLED panels, high-refresh-rate panels, large-size integrated automotive panels, and high-resolution panels for AR / VR. Smartphone OEMs have already started using AMOLED screens on most of their devices and it is expected to grow more. Around 40% of total smartphone shipments in 2020 is expected to use AMOLED panels due to their increased availability. Apart from </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Samsung </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, we will see devices from </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Oppo, and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/vivo/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Vivo </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">to feature these panels in more numbers than before.</span></p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/13/oneplus-8-to-feature-2k-oled-display-with-120hz-refresh-rate/">OnePlus 8 to feature 2K OLED Display with 120Hz refresh rate</a></strong></h6>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Although high-refresh-rate displays have been around for a while, it was OnePlus that popularized its usage on smartphones. As mobile gaming is becoming the norm these days, the demand for such displays is more than ever. With 5G, we might see more games to support high-refresh-rate which in turn will lead OEMs to launch more devices (even budget ones) with such panels. In fact, we already have </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-6/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme 6</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-6-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme 6 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, a budget smartphone duo from the house of BBK with 90Hz refresh rate displays for the masses.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_308751" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-308751" style="width: 500px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Realme-6.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-308751" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Realme-6.jpg?x10805" alt="Realme 6" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Realme-6.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Realme-6-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Realme-6-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Realme-6-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-308751" class="wp-caption-text">Realme 6 features a 90Hz display for an affordable price tag</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">5G also enables various automotive applications that require large-size integrated display panels in the front instead of traditional dashboards. Also, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vr/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">VR </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ar/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">AR </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">devices leverage 5G to offer a seamless experience. They too require high-resolution display panels to let users experience a more true to life environment. Hence, we can even expect the demand for innovative displays to surge higher as carriers launch 5G services across the world.</span></p>

<p>According to a DigiTimes report, 2020 iPhones could feature 120Hz screens, joining Apple&#8217;s existing iPad Pro lineup with the same high-refresh rate. However, next year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone">iPhones</a> will likely have a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/120hz">120Hz</a> refresh rate on an OLED panel unlike the LCD ones found inside the ProMotion iPads.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick:  <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/07/razer-phone-official-list-120hz-optimized-android-games-surfaces/">Razer Phone: Here&#8217;s the Official List Of 120Hz-Optimized Android Games</a></strong></h6>
<p>But it&#8217;s not just the new iPhone models. The same DigiTimes report states that smartphones, in general, will come with higher refresh rates in 2020. And unlike this year where we have a number of 90Hz panel smartphones, companies could upgrade the refresh rate to 120Hz or more next year.</p>
<p>Currently, only a handful of smartphones feature a 120Hz display, like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-2/">ROG II</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/razer-phone-2/">Razer Phone 2</a>, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/sharp-aquos-r3/">Sharp Aquos R3</a>. But if this report is to be believed, by 2020, this figure will increase quite significantly. Such high refresh rates would especially benefit gaming-centric smartphones and this niche market has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/08/google-developing-game-device-certification-program-for-gaming-phones/">grown a lot this year</a>.</p>
<p>However, with a high refresh rate comes the issue of battery life. Using a dynamic refresh rate will help in optimizing for the best battery performance but it will still be lower than that of a 60Hz screen. As a result, we could see smartphones with larger batteries and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/25/xiaomi-reveals-100w-fast-charging-tech-4000mah-battery-charged-in-just-17-minutes/">faster-charging technologies next year</a>. This speculation isn&#8217;t unfounded given that the ROG II with a 120Hz comes with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/asus-rog-gaming-smartphone-dazzles-in-these-hands-on-pictures/">HUGE 6000mAh battery on board</a>!</p>
