However, instead of hosting a launch event in Paris, the company has decided to make it a virtual press conference because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Now, with just a few days remaining for the official launch, a leaked teaser poster for the Huawei P40 series has popped up with the launch date as well as hinting about the powerful camera features with the hashtag #VisionaryPhotography.

Along with that, the teaser poster also confirms that the smartphone will come with a triple-camera setup on the front side. Since the cameras are inside the display area, the device will have a punch-hole cutout for the same.

It also shows an outline for the upcoming smartphone which reveals a very thin bezel around the display, including the top bezel. The bezels on the left and right side almost seems non-existent.

It is speculated that the Galaxy S20 Ultra which comes with 100x zoom supporting quad cameras will be rivaled by the Huawei P40 Pro smartphone. A popular tipster has shared some important details on the cameras of the Huawei P40 Pro.

A leaked render that had appeared few weeks ago had revealed that the Huawei P40 Pro will be equipped with as many as five cameras on its rear. At that time, the phone was dubbed as Huawei P40 Pro PE (Premium Edition). However, in the new leak, the handset is being called Huawei P40 Pro.

The major difference between the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be that the latter will include an advanced camera setup. The new leak reveals that the Huawei P40 Pro PE’s penta-lens camera system will comprise of the 1/1.28” Sony IMX700 52-megapixel Hexadeca Bayer RYYB lens, a 1/1.5” Sony IMX650 40-megapixel utlarwide Cine RGGB lens, a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a dual prism periscope zoom lens with 10x optical zoom and a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor.

While the recently unveiled P40 Lite was an upper mid-range phone, recent reports have revealed that the P40 lineup has phones like P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro PE (Premium Edition). Weeks ahead of the launch, Digital Trends has shared hands-on images of an early prototype unit of a P40 series phone. While it appears to be the P40 Pro, DT states that it is P40.

Instead of the Huawei and Leica branding, the early prototype of the Huawei P40 has Polarie and Blink codenames mentioned on it, states the publication. The handset has an aesthetically pleasing design as its glass rear seamlessly blends with the metallic chassis and it flaunts rounded corners.

The size of the device is almost same as the P40 Pro model. It has a physical volume and power buttons. The bottom edge of the phone has a USB-C port and it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack. The absence of traditional fingerprint sensor suggests that it is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The publication claims that there is considerable depth to the finish of the blue colored version of the smartphone that can be seen in the hands-on images. The

The camera setup of the device has three sensors stacked vertically. The bottom one is a periscope zoom lens. Rumors have it that the triple camera setup includes a 52-megapixel lens, a 40-mgeapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor. Alongside it is another module that includes a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor, a microphone hole and an LED flash. Like the predecessor model, Huawei may have worked with Leica for the cameras of the P40 series.

The publication did not share any image of the front side of the smartphone. However, it has stated that the phone features a curved screen. For more images of the phone, readers can visit the source link.

While the publication is calling the above device as Huawei P40, it actually appears to be the Huawei P40 Pro handset. Past reports have revealed that the P40 Pro has four rear cameras and a curved display whereas the P40 is said to be equipped with triple rear cameras and a flat screen. The more premium Huawei P40 Pro PE is expected to borrow the display from the Huawei P40 Pro and feature a penta-lens camera setup on the back. To distinguish between the three devices, an image gallery has been included below. It contains the leaked renders of the P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro PE phones.

The lineup has pretty big shoes to fill this year after the P30 series garnered a great response from consumers in 2019. And just like the P30 lineup, the camera will continue to be a strong point of the new P40 series as well.

The biggest change in the Huawei P40 series this year is the number of flagship devices in the lineup. Last year, the Huawei P series featured three main devices, the Huawei P30 Pro, the Huawei P30, and the Huawei P30 Lite. This year, there seems to be an additional high-end model called the Huawei P40 Pro PE or Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition. As the name suggests, this is expected to be the most powerful model in the series featuring a Penta-camera setup at the back. The other P40 series devices will have fewer cameras on board.

Since we expect four different models in the P40 series this year, let’s take a closer look at each one of them down below.

Note that this information is based on the available renders and leaked information over the past couple of months. So we can’t guarantee 100% accuracy. However, in our experience, we are at a stage where most of the information mentioned below should turn out to be true at launch. Also, we have added an * if a particular feature mentioned below is based on pure speculation rather than any credible leak or rumor.

Huawei P40

The Huawei P40 aka the standard edition will be the cheapest model in the flagship range. It will cut down on a few features like a curved display and a couple of cameras to keep the price lower than the Pro and Premium editions.

Huawei P40 – standard edition – via 91mobiles

The P40 is expected to feature a flat OLED display with a size ranging between 6.1-6.2-inches. The front camera solution on the new model will be different than its predecessor. The phone will come with dual punch-hole cameras on its OLED display, placed on the top left corner. To remind you, these dual punch-hole cameras are common among all the three flagship models (P40 Pro and P40 PE) this year.

At the back, there will be a rectangular camera housing, much like the Pixel 4 series. Being a standard edition model, the P40 will only feature three cameras at the back. The volume buttons and the power button with an orange accent will be placed on the right. At the bottom, you’ll get the speaker and the USB-C port. Note that the placement of the ports and the buttons are common among the other two models as well.

The expected specs of the Huawei P40 are as below.

6/ 8GB RAM + 64/128GB ROM (*)

6.1-6.2″ OLED punch-hole display

Triple Leica camera setup: 40MP cine shooter (1/1.5″) + 52MP primary (1/1.3″) sensor + 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom

NO 3.5mm headphone jack

Currently, we have no word on the pricing of the Huawei P40. However, rumors state that the entire lineup might launch at a cheaper price tag than its predecessor. The P30 started at 3,988 Yuan (~$593) in China last year, so we can expect the starting price for the P40 to be cheaper than this figure at launch.

Huawei P40 Pro

Huawei P40 Pro render by 91Mobile

The Huawei P40 Pro will reportedly come with a curved OLED display, much like the P30 Pro. There’ll be dual punch-hole cameras on the top left corner of the curved-screen – same as the standard P40. However, the Pro model’s display will likely get a high refresh rate.

At the back, the basic rectangular housing remains the same, but there should be two major changes in the Pro variant’s camera setup. First, there’s an additional fourth sensor, expected to be a 3D ToF camera. Second, the Pro version should swap the telephoto lens with a redesigned periscope lens offering up to 10x optical zoom on the device. There are conflicting reports about this model’s zoom capability. Some say that the 10x optical zoom will be limited to the Premium edition. So, the Pro version will only get 5x optical zoom.

The Pro version is also expected to feature a special Mint Green edition.

This will be the top-end model in the P40 lineup. The phone is expected to retain all of the features of the P40 Pro with two major additions. First, the Premium edition will reportedly feature a ceramic back. Secondly, there should be an additional camera at the back, making for a Penta-camera setup.

Huawei P40 Lite

We are also expecting a cheaper and stripped-down version of the P40 dubbed as the Huawei P40 Lite for the international markets. It’s being said that it will be a rebranded Nova 6 SE model that was launched in China in December 2019.

The Huawei P40 series is expected to come in colors such as Black, Blush Gold, Silver Frost, Deep Sea Blue, & Ice White.
The P40 series will define Huawei’s strategy in 2020. The last generation model sold pretty well in China as well as overseas. But without Google apps, the company will have a hard time convincing users to go for Google App replacements like TomTom maps and its own HMS core services, even if the entire lineup is cheaper than competitors like Samsung and Apple.

So far, the rumor mill has claimed that the rival Huawei P40 series includes two device such as Huawei P40 and P40 Pro. A fresh leak has revealed that there is another model called Huawei P40 Pro PE. Leaked renders of the P40 Pro PE show that it is decked with a penta-lens camera system on its back. Reputed tipster Evan Blass has claimed that the Huawei P40 series will be made official on March 26.

Huawei P40 Pro PE renders

The Huawei P40 Pro PE (Premium Edition?) renders reveal that it has a pill-shaped cutout at the top-left corner of the screen. Like the P40 Pro the smartphone could be equipped with quad curved display. The bottom edge of the device has a USB-C port, a microphone, an external speaker and a SIM card slot. A volume rocker and a power key are present on the right edge of the device.

The rectangle-shaped camera module on the backside of the Huawei P40 Pro PE includes as many as five cameras. The camera bump on the device is quite pronounced. The squarish lens in the camera setup is the periscope lens that is expected to bring support for 10x optical zoom. The exact configurations of the five cameras of the P40 Pro PE are not known yet. A tweet from popular tipster Evan Blass suggests that the P40 Pro PE could be flaunting a ceramic rear.

There is no word on the specifications of the Huawei P40 Pro PE. It could be powered with Kirin 990 5G and may feature highest amount of RAM and largest storage space in the P40 series. The following tweet from leakster Teme the penta-lens camera system of the P40 Pro PE with the triple camera setup of the Huawei P40 and quad cameras of the P40 Pro.

Huawei P40 Pro renders

An exclusive leak from Android Headlines reveals the design of the Huawei P40 Pro from all angles. The design of the P40 Pro is almost identical with P40. The only major difference between the two devices in terms of design is that the P40 Pro has an extra camera on its rear, and it features a curved display.

The rear camera setup of the device is rumored to include a 52-megapixel main lens, a 40-megapixel cine lens, a periscope zoom shooter and a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. The Huawei P40 has triple rear cameras and it seems to lack a 3D ToF sensor. And, instead of a periscope lens, it could be housing an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
