The smartphone maker will sell the new 128GB version of the Infinix Smart 8 exclusively via Flipkart, a populer e-retailer in India. It is now available for purchase for a 8,999 INR price tag. The brand is even offering an instant 1,000 INR discount to SBI Credit and Debit Card holders. Another notable offer is the inclusion of Spotify Premium annual subscription at 699 INR.

Infinix Smart 8 Specs

To recall, the Infinix Smart 8 was first announced in the region a month ago. So apart from the higher RAM and storage capacity, this new model is identical to the base model. It sports a 6.6-inch IPS LCD panel, HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone features the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC that was paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

It run on the Android 13 Go edition out of the box and is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that offers standard 10W charging. The rear packs a 50-megapixel dual camera setup, while the front houses an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Other notable features include dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.0, side mounted fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and DTS sound.

The core specifications of the latest offering remain the same as the base model. 

Infinix Smart 8 gets a new variant

The Infinix Smart 8 will soon be available in the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option. Both the RAM and storage have been bumped up twice over the base configuration of 4GB + 64GB. The new variant will be priced at Rs 8,999. It will be offered in Galaxy White, Rainbow Blue, Shiny Gold, and Timber Black colors. The Infinix Smart 8 8GB + 128GB variant will be sold through Flipkart. 

The Infinix Smart 8 has a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness. The centre-aligned punch-hole cutout extends into pill shaped for offering notifications like Dynamic Island. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner and there is a gradient back panel. 

The Infinix Smart 8 features a squarish rear camera island housing a 50MP main sensor coupled with an AI lens and LED flash. There is an 8MP selfie snapper. 

Internally, the Infinix Smart 8 is equipped with a Helio G36 processor. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 2TB. The device draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 10W charging. It runs on Android 13 OS out of the box.

The Infinix Smart 8 was announced on Jan. 13 in India and is already available for purchase via Flipkart. For those seeking a phone around Rs 6,000 (~$72), the company offers the Smart 8 HD, and in the Rs 7,000 (~$84) segment, it provides the Smart 8. These offerings mirror Redmi’s A2 and A2 Plus, which are nearly identical phones with only a few differences. The Smart 8 and Smart 8 HD (hands-on) are powered by different chipsets, feature distinct primary cameras, and come with varying amounts of RAM. Here is a hands-on post on what to expect from the Smart 8.

Infinix Smart 8: Unboxing and First Impression

Undoubtedly, the Infinix Smart 8 stands out as a remarkably designed phone within its price range. The Rainbow Blue color variant, as depicted in the images, appears light blue at a cursory glance. However, when viewed from various angles, it reveals an array of shades, including pink, purple, yellow, and light green. The back panel of the phone features a timber-textured finish, while the front showcases a punch-hole screen with a noticeable bottom bezel. Notably, the overall design of the phone closely resembles that of the Smart 8 HD.

The top edge of the phone has “Designed by Infinix” branding, whereas its opposite end features a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker. The left spine has a SIM slot, while the right edge is equipped with a volume rocker and a power key. It weighs 189 grams and has a thickness of 8.5mm.

Display

Starting from the front, the Infinix Smart 8 sports an LCD panel measuring 6.6 inches diagonally. It supports an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is shielded by a layer of NEG glass. Distinguishing itself from most other phones in the same price segment, the Smart 8 opts for a contemporary punch-hole display design instead of the conventional waterdrop notch screen. In terms of visibility, it is optimal for indoor use; however, under bright sunlight, users might encounter difficulties viewing the display contents even when the brightness is set to the highest level.

Performance

The Smart 8 features the MediaTek Helio G36, also found in devices like the Poco C51, Redmi A2, and Redmi A2 Plus. The device offers 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 4 GB of virtual RAM for efficient multitasking while handling apps. There’s 64 GB of UFS 2.2 storage onboard and a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage. In comparison, the Smart 8 HD has the Unisoc T606 chip, 3 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage.

The availability of the Magic Ring feature via XOS 13 (based on Android 13 Go) makes the phone capable of showcasing animated notifications around the display punch-hole for face unlock, background calls, charging, charging completion reminder, and low battery reminder. While there are around 40 preloaded apps on the device, it does not have unnecessary or shady apps despite being a low-priced device.

The Smart 8 packs a 5,000mAh battery but does not have a microUSB port like the above-mentioned competing phones. Instead, it offers a USB-C port, providing more convenient charging in line with modern connectivity standards. As far as charging speedi is concerned, it takes around two hours to achieve a full charge.

Camera and Other Features

On the back, the Smart 8 features a 50-megapixel main camera (compared to the 13-megapixel camera on the Smart 8 HD), an AI lens, and a quad-LED ring flash. While expectations may be modest for a Rs 7,000 (~$72) phone in terms of photography, the Smart 8 endeavors to provide a decent photography experience, particularly in well-lit conditions. An 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash that boosts brightness for selfies in low light is located on the front.

For security, the Smart 8 features a side-facing fingerprint scanner and face unlock, both functioning flawlessly. There is a single bottom-firing speaker with DTS Audio processing, providing decent output only when the volume is set at 70 or 80 percent. Higher volume results in a noticeable slight distortion in sound output.

Overall Impression

The Infinix Smart 8 is a good option to consider if you are looking for a phone priced around Rs 7,000 (~$84). It is good to see the brand offering an impressive design, a high refresh rate display, a 50-megapixel camera, a big battery with USB-C charging, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner on such a low-priced device.

Price and Availability

The Smart 8, priced at Rs 7,499 (~$90), costs Rs 1,200 (~$14) more than the entry-level Smart 8 HD. Buyers can benefit from a 10 percent discount using ICICI debit and credit cards, and can get it for Rs 6,749 (~$81). Like other Infinix phones, the Smart 8 can be purchased through Flipkart. Apart from Rainbow Blue, the Smart 8 can be bought in shades, such as Galax White, Timber Black, and Shiny Gold.

As scheduled, Infinix today launched the Smart 8 smartphone in India. This new smartphone is quite similar to the existing Smart 8 HD but has a different chipset and a camera setup. Let’s take a closer look at its features and price here.

Infinix Smart 8 Specifications

The smartphone boasts a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. It has a central punch-hole camera, which Infinix calls the Magic Ring. 

This feature expands to a pill-shaped cutout and shows charging and status updates, similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. It also has a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button on the side.

The back of the Infinix Smart 8 features a gradient design and a square camera module that is flush with the phone’s surface. It comes with a 50MP main camera, an auxiliary lens, and an LED flash. There’s also an 8MP front camera for selfies.

Inside, the phone is powered by a Helio G36 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The latter can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card. The device is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery with 10W Type-C charging and operates on XOS 13-based Android 13.

Pricing and Availability

The Infinix Smart 8, with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, is priced at Rs 7,499 in India. It comes in four colors — Galaxy White, Rainbow Blue, Shiny Gold, and Timber Black.  The phone will be available for purchase starting January 15 at 12 PM on Flipkart.

In December 2023, Infinix unveiled the Infinix Smart 8 HD smartphone in India. Now, the brand has confirmed that it will announce the Smart 8 at 12 pm (local time) on Jan. 13 in the country. Ahead of the launch, its landing page revealing its design and key specifications has gone live on Flipkart.

The Infinix Smart 8 will feature a 6.6-inch LCD panel with a punch-hole design. The screen will offer an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will also come with support for the interactive Magic Ring that shows notification animations on either side of the punch-hole.

The company claims that the Smart 8 will be the segment’s first smartphone to feature a side-facing fingerprint scanner. It will also be the first smartphone in its price segment to feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash and a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back. The phone will support camera features such as portrait mode and AR shot.

There is no information about the processor that powers the Smart 8. However, the brand has revealed that the device will ship with 4 GB of RAM, 4 GB of virtual RAM, and 64 GB of storage. It will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged via a USB-C port.

As mentioned above, the Infinix Smart 8 HD is already confirmed to debut on Dec. 8 in the country. It remains to be seen whether the Smart 8 will launch alongside the HD model. The HD variant is expected to feature a 6.6-inch LCD HD+ 90Hz display with 500 nits of peak brightness, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, UFS 2.2 storage, and a USB-C port. While its other specifications are yet to be revealed, it is known that it will be available in shades, such as Crystal Green, Shiny Gold, Timber Black, and Galaxy White.

To recall, the African and Indian markets received differently spec’d versions of the Smart 7. Hence. it remains to be seen whether India will receive the same Smart 8 that is available in Nigeria.

Infinix has launched a new budget smartphone in the Nigerian market. The latest offering is the Infinix Smart 8. It arrives as the successor to the Smart 7 that was announced earlier this year. Notably, the smartphone is the same as the Tecno POP 8 that surfaced a few days ago. This isn’t surprising since Infinix and Tecno are Transsion Holdings brands. Let’s take a look at what the Smart 8 offers out of the box. 

Infinix Smart 8 specifications and features

The Infinix Smart 8 comes with a 6.6-inch display bearing an HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 550 nits peak brightness. It has a centre-aligned punch-hole camera cutout and the brand refers to it as Magic Ring because it expands into to pill-sized cutout and offers charging and status updates like Apple’s Dynamic Island. The device has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. 

The Infinix Smart 8 sports a gradient back panel. It has a squarish camera module that doesn’t appear protruding. The device features a 13MP sensor paired with a VGA depth lens and an LED flash unit. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie snapper. 

Internally, the Infinix Smart 8 is equipped with a UniSoc T606 processor. It packs 4GB RAM along with 4GB virtual RAM. There is 128GB internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot. The smartphone draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with 10W charging via a USB-C port. It ships with XOS 13-based Android 13 out of the box.

The Infinix Smart 8 is offered in Timber Black, Galaxy White, Crystal Green, and Shiny Gold colors. It is priced at NGN 82,000 ($105) in Nigeria and is available for purchase in th country.

A lot more smartphones are expected to launch in November compared to October. A handful of brands have already either confirmed or hinted at their upcoming releases.

The star products are flagships from Chinese brands. They will feature the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which made its global debut inside the Xiaomi 14 series.

There will be some budget models from multiple brands as well. But they are not so interesting as they won’t bring anything new to the entry-level segment.

At least 12 brands are anticipated to release new phones next month. The list includes Lava, iQOO, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, OnePlus, Redmi, Poco, Samsung, Honor, Infinix, and Tecno.

Upcoming Smartphones in November 2023

Lava Blaze 2 5G

The Lava Blaze 2 5G is set to launch in India on November 2 (Thursday). It will be announced in a YouTube livestream at 12 PM IST.

Thanks to official teasers and leaks, we know a few things about this device. It will sport a slightly boxy design and a circular camera module with a ring LED light for notifications.

The phone is tipped to house a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chip paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It is expected to start around ₹9000-₹10000 and will be available in three colors (black, blue, and purple).

iQOO 12 Series

The iQOO 12 series is scheduled to launch in China on November 7 (Tuesday). It will be unveiled at an event that will begin at 7 PM GMT+8 and will be live-streamed on Weibo and other leading Chinese video streaming platforms.

The lineup consists of two models, namely iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro. They will bring a new design and updated specs.

As per leaks and teasers, both of them will be almost identical. They will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, 50MP (OV50H) + 50 MP (JN1 ultrawide) + 64MP (OV64B 3x) triple camera system, dual stereo speakers, and 120W wired charging.

The pro model will flaunt a curved display with 2K resolution compared to a flat and brighter (3000 nits) display on the vanilla variant. The former will also support wireless charging.

Oppo A2

The Oppo A2 will be announced in China on November 11 (Saturday). Going by the leaks and teasers, the device will likely be the same as the recently released Oppo A79 5G.

The phone will come with a 7.99mm thin body and weigh 193g. It will be fitted with a 6.72-inch centered punch-hole FHD+ 90Hz display (LCD).

Further, the handset will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chip paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It will feature a 50MP + 2MP dual camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

The Oppo A2 will be available in Ice Crystal Purple, Clear Wave Green, and Quiet Sea Black color options.

Vivo X100 Series

The Vivo X100 series is rumored to go official in China on November 17 (Friday). The lineup is expected to include three devices, such as Vivo X100, Vivo X100 Pro, and Vivo X100 Pro Plus.

As per teasers and leaks, the series will come with a  new Vario-APO-Sonnar lens for a periscope zoom camera. This feature could be exclusive to the Pro Plus model, which is also said to come with LPDDR5T RAM.

All three phones are anticipated to house different chipsets. The top-end Pro Plus will likely feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC as compared to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip inside the pro version. Whereas, the vanilla variant will be powered by a Dimensity 9300 chipset.

Like their predecessors, the handsets will be available in glass and leather finishes.

Realme GT 5 Pro

The Realme GT 5 Pro is expected to launch in China in November. As the name suggests, it will be the brand’s next-gen flagship smartphone.

The handset has been confirmed to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Thanks to leaks, we also know most of its other specs.

The device will arrive with a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved display, a 50MP (wide) + 50MP (telephoto)  +  8MP (ultrawide) triple camera setup, a 32MP selfie camera, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, a 10,000mm² cooling system, and an IP rating,

Finally, it is said to be backed by a 5,400mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

OnePlus 12

The OnePlus 12 could launch in China by the end of November or in December. A lot about it is out via official teasers and leaks.

Unsurprisingly, the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. It will flaunt a 6.82-inch BOE X1 OLED display. This centered punch-hole curved screen will offer a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels, a 1Hz-120Hz LTPO refresh rate, 0.35 JNCD, 2600 nits peak brightness level, and a DisplayMate A+ rating.

Further, the handset is expected to come with a 50MP (wide) + 48MP (ultrawide) + 64MP (3x periscope) triple camera system, a 32MP selfie camera, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage,an  alert slider, and an IR blaster,

Last but not least, it will draw energy from a 5,400mAh battery and support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Redmi K70 Series

The Redmi K70 series might go official in November. The lineup is anticipated to include three models — a vanilla version and two pro variants.

One of the pros will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, while the second one will house a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC. But both of them will carry support for 120W wired charging.

On the other hand, the standard version is tipped to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Unfortunately, not much is known about these smartphones as of writing this article.

Redmi 13C and Poco C65

The Redmi 13C may be released in November. Almost everything about it is out via multiple leaks.

The device will arrive with a 6.74-inch dewdrop notched 90Hz display (LCD), a MediaTek Helio G85 chip, a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging support over USB Type-C port.

It will also come with a 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (depth) triple camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, a MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Redmi 13C will be also sold as Poco C65 in some markets. This phone could also debut in November.

Samsung Galaxy A15

Samsung might debut its next-gen affordable smartphone Galaxy A15 in November. It will be available in both 4G and 5G variants.

As per leaks, the handset will arrive with a 6.5-inch FHD+ 90Hz display, a 50MP + 5MP + 2MP triple camera setup, a 13MP selfie camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a MicroSD card slot, a 5,000mAh battery, and 25W charging support. 

The 5G model will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chip, while the 4G version will house a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC.

Honor X50 GT

The Honor X50 GT might launch in China as early as November. It is said to come with a Huawei Mate X5-inspired design.

The phone is tipped to feature a 6.81-inch FHD+ OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, and a 4,800mAh battery. For photography and videography, it will use a 50MP rear camera and a 16MP selfie camera.

In other words, the X50 GT will be a minor upgrade over its predecessor X40 GT.

Infinix Smart 8

The Infinix Smart 8 might go official in November. It will be an entry-level smartphone from the brand and will succeed the Smart 7 from earlier this year.

As per certifications and benchmarks, it will arrive with an HD+ display, a Unisoc T606 chip, 3GB RAM, a 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging.

Additionally, based on its predecessor, we can expect the device to come with dual cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Tecno Spark 20 Series and Spark Go 2024

The Tecno Spark 20 series and Spark Go 2024 smartphones could debut in November. The former lineup will include at least three devices, such as Spark 20, Spark 20 Pro, and Spark 20C.

According to benchmark listings, the Spark 20, Spark 20C, and Spark Go 2024 will be powered by Helio G85, Helio P35, and Unisoc T606 chips, respectively.

On the other hand, there’s no info on the chipset inside the Spark 20 Pro, But we know that it will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W charging.

Infinix is reportedly working on a smartphone under its Smart series. The Smart 8 has already bagged TDRA and FCC certification. It was also spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. Now the device has appeared on the Google Play Console certification website revealing its key specifications. The listings also hint at the imminent arrival of the smartphone. The Infinix Smart 8 is expected to be the successor to the Smart 7 that debuted earlier in February this year. 

Infinix Smart 8 Google Play Console

The Infinix Smart 8 is listed with model number X6525 on the Google Play Console certification website. The render reveals a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout display. The power and volume buttons are on the right side. The listing mentions that the device has a display resolution of 720 x 1,612 pixels and a screen density of 320 dpi. 

As per the listing, the Infinix Smart 8 has a Spreadtrum T606 processor comprising of two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores both clocked at 1.6GHz. The processor will be paired with 3GB RAM onboard. Software-wise, the smartphone will ship with Android 13 OS out of the box.

The Google Play Console listing does not reveal any additional details of the Infinix Smart 8. The FCC listing of the device revealed a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 10W charging and 4G connectivity. Meanwhile, in the Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, the smartphone scored 1532 and 5408 points respectively. 

We should learn more details about the Infinix Smart 8 in the coming weeks.

Infinix might be ready to launch a new affordable smartphone in the market. The device in question could be called Infinix Smart 8. It seems like the successor to the Infinix Smart 7, which debuted earlier in February with a particularly large 6,000mAh battery. The new smartphone has bagged multiple certifications— FCC and TDRA— and has also been spotted on Geekbench with key specifications. Let’s have a look at the details.

New Infinix budget phone on the way

MySmartPrice spotted the Infinix Smart 8 on the TDRA and FCC website with model number X6525. While the TDRA listing didn’t reveal anything interesting, the FCC confirms a 4900mAh battery unit on the handset with 10W charging support. The authority also reveals the Smart 8 will be a 4G smartphone, measuring 164 × 76 × 9mm.

The Infinix Smart 8 has also been spotted on Geekbench, but not on the latest version of the benchmarking platform. Instead, it appeared on Geekbench 4.3. According to the listing, the device is powered by a UniSoC processor clocked at 1.61GHz. The processor also comes with an integrated Mali G57 GPU. Based on this information, we assume Infinix Smart 8 will be powered by a UniSoC T606 processor.

The handset scored 1531 points in the single-core round of the test. In the multi-core round, it scored 5048 points. The listing further reveals the Infinix Smart 8 will come pre-loaded with Android 13 out of the box. The handset will feature 3GB of RAM, according to the benchmark listing.
