An Apple customer from the UK excitedly opened up his iPhone 13 Pro Max parcel only to find what may very well be the priciest couple of Cadbury chocolate bars ever inside, that too wrapped up in “stinky” toilet paper.

Daniel Caroll, the customer behind the order, claimed through a post on Twitter that had he had been chasing the delivery of his iPhone after it got delayed by around two weeks. After no fruitful result, he decided to become the delivery man himself and headed straight to the DHL Warehouse in West Yorkshire. While the stunt did help him finally get his hands on the parcel, unwrapping it revealed two 120g Dairy Milk Oreo chocolates instead of the latest and greatest phone from Apple (via Mirror UK).

Carroll, infuriated, took to Twitter and wrote: “After a long weekend of a brand new iPhone 13 Pro Max being stuck in @DHLParcelUK network, failing any delivery attempt Friday-Sun, I finally picked up the parcel yesterday from DHL Leeds to find the package tampered with and the new phone (Christmas present) replaced with this.”

Sure, one can argue here that Cadbury chocolates aren’t too bad of a Christmas present either. But the delightful piece of confectionery isn’t exactly the kind that one orders online for over a thousand pounds, and can easily be purchased from the nearest grocery store.

“When I got home I could tell the box had been tampered with as the tape was quite loose, but because I could feel some weight I just opened it. Inside there was cheap industrial toilet roll, which stunk, and two bars of Dairy Milk Oreo in there,” he added.

So far, Caroll hasn’t received his iPhone 13 Pro even after repeated contact with the delivery service, although a DHL spokesperson did state that they’re investigating the case and have been in touch with the sender to ensure a replacement.

Apple, already suffering from a supply crunch due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage, is now simultaneously also facing slowing demand. The company told its component suppliers that it may not order as many units as previously indicated.

Apple has already cut its iPhone 13 production goal by as many as 10 million units this year, down from a target of 90 million due to the shortage in parts availability (via Bloomberg). However, the company was hoping to make up for the decline next year, which does not seem that likely anymore.

The holiday season will be supplying the company with a much-needed boost though, with analysts predicting a sales increase of 6% to $117.9 billion in the final three months of the calendar year. This still won’t be what Apple and Wall Street had envisioned though. Shortages and delivery delays have already frustrated many and several consumers have finally called it quits trying to acquire the hard-to-get iPhone 13, leading to a decline in demand.

Such consumers will likely be skipping the iPhone 13 altogether and will instead be setting their crosshairs on next year’s iPhone 14 when it goes live. After all, the iPhone 13 is only a minor upgrade over the iPhone 12, both in terms of specifications and design. The succeeding iPhone 14, on the other hand, is expected to bring along some major improvements, which has incentivized buyers to wait for it.

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, declined to comment on it all.

Meizu today announced new Pandaer mobile cases for the iPhone 13 series, which are set to launch tomorrow.

The company said that the cases adopt an ‘IML technology’ to provide a ‘visual and tactile naked experience.’ FYI, In-Mold Labeling, or IML in short, is an innovative labeling technology for plastic packaging that provides greater wear resistance than spray painting or pad-printing.

The cases also make use of imported high-performance impact-resistant materials for a superior in-hand feel while not compromising on the protection offered (via: My Drivers).

Meizu says that its Pandaer cases make use of eight-color printing technology ensuring high-quality, detailed prints. The print again is said to be highly durable, just like the material of the case itself.

In order to fit onto the iPhone 13 models perfectly, Pandaer uses a ‘remodeling’ technique that results in precise openings for all the ports and buttons. Along with this, six high-standard quality inspection procedures have been undertaken to make sure everything is proper on each case before it is deemed worthy of being sold.

It is worth mentioning here that this isn’t the first time Meizu’s Pandaer has launched similar accessories. Earlier, the brand released a “fruity special drink” mobile phone case for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro with a translucent jelly design, priced at 69 Yuan (~$10).

Pandaer has even dived into the clothing market, releasing products like a Pandaer Magician Hoodie. Other products include Pandaer Interstellar Exploration Mouse Pad, Pandaer Interstellar Exploration Canvas Bag, 17 Series T-shirts, and jelly bags.

The company was also involved in the launch of the Pandaer co-branded Mechanical Keyboard and Transparent Power Bank by Meizu.

The iPhone 13 lineup is the latest Apple offerings in the smartphone segment. Apart from the vanilla version of the iPhone 13, we also have the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro models. The iPhone 13 lineup was released a few days back and Apple was silent on the battery capacity of the new models.

A recently outed “Apple and Beat Product Information Sheet” has however indicated that all the iPhone 13 models sport batteries that are higher than their corresponding predecessors from 2020.

The Apple iPhome 13 Pro Max has the highest percentage improvement in its battery capacity. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has approximately 4,373mAh, which is about 18.5% above the 2020 model. The iPhone 13 Mini has approximately 2,438mAh battery capacity with a 9% increase listed. The iPhone 13 has a 3,240mAh battery (15% increase) while the iPhone 13 Pro comes with a 3,125 battery (11% increase).

It is expected that the increased battery capacity would translate to longer battery life for the models, although the screen size could also limit the amount of juice available for other tasks.

Popular Apple tipster Jon Prosser has revealed that the iPhone 13 series is slated to be unveiled on September 14, about two weeks away. An image of the retail box of the iPhone 13 was also leaked, and this may have confirmed that indeed, its launch is just a matter of few weeks.

Despite stringent efforts put in place, it would seem that Apple is still suffering from insider release of critical trade information. Apple had even threatened identified leakers in other with possible litigation. However, the tipster has indicated that we would indeed see the next-gen iPhone on the stated date of September 14, while the actual release is believed to start by September 24.

The launch, if true falls in line with the annual iPhone event, although there had been speculations earlier that the launch date was September 17. Citing unnamed sources, Prosser affirmed September 14 as the D-day, also providing more details about the event and the iPhone 13. According to the tipster, press invites will be issued one week before the event, while pre-orders will start on September 17. The announcement comes on September 14, while it will go on sale on September 24.

Meanwhile, a leaked photo shows the packaging of the iPhone 13, further dispelling any more rumors about the name of Apple’s next flagship. The photo of the retail box, although not from official quarters, could also indicate an imminent launch of the iPhone 13 series. Prosser also indicates that all the models in the lineup this time around will be available immediately for pre-order.

Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone 13 series sometime in September this year. However, the exact launch date is yet to be confirmed by the company. Now, ahead of any announcements, the series’ launch timeline has been allegedly revealed.

According to IT Home,  the iPhone 13 series is already listed on an e-commerce website in China. The listing’s screenshot was first shared on Weibo by Chinese leaker @Pandalsbald. Not just the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, rather the entire series including the vanilla smartphone, the Pro model, the Pro max model, and the mini variants were listed. Even the rumored Apple AirPods 3 was found listed on the portal.

Additionally, the publication revealed that the series will go on pre-orders from September 17th. It is said to go on sale starting September 24th in the market. While the launch date, as well as the sale date, is revealed, we aren’t sure if the dates are legit. Previously, the Chinese publication was subject to incorrect launch dates. However, this time around, the tipster Jon Prosser confirmed that the listed date is real and indeed the launch timeline is correct.

Apple is expected to launch its upcoming iPhone 13 series either in September or October this year. Just like every year, the upcoming iteration of the iPhone will bring small, yet refined changes, and this time, for cameras, fast charging, and storage. Now, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reveals that Apple will bring Portrait mode for videos.

Apple officially released the Portrait mode(for photos) feature back in 2016 with the iPhone 7 series. Now, it is touted that the iPhone 13 series will bring this feature to videos. The Portrait mode for videos will work similarly to photos where the depth sensor will produce a blur effect for the background while only focusing on the subject.

Additionally, Apple is also said to offer ProRes feature for videos in the upcoming Apple iPhone 13. The feature will let users record videos in higher quality with a format easier for editing in post. This feature will be similar to the ProRaw feature seen in Pro models of the current iPhone 12. That said, the ProRes will also be exclusive to the Pro models of the upcoming iPhone 13.

Apart from video captures, Apple is also planning to update its existing photo filters with some new filters. Also, instead of applying a filter to the entire image, the upcoming iPhones will allow users to apply filters on specific objects.

Other than this, the Apple iPhone 13 series is expected to come with a LiDAR scanner. The series is expected to come with a slightly smaller notch and will have a 120Hz refresh rate. Notably, the higher refresh rate is expected only in the Pro variants. Under the hood, the series will board Apple’s A15 chip paired with up to whopping 1TB storage.

According to a leak, the upcoming iPhones are expected to feature improved fast charging support. Instead of 20W fast charging, the upcoming iPhone series is rumored to support 25W fast charging technology.

Moreover, the iPhone 13 series is said to bring back the Rose Gold color along with a new Sunset Gold hue.

With a drastic increase in the adoption of IPDs, the chip manufacturing partners like TSMC and Amkor are slated to get solid business opportunities. Not just iPhones, even iPads, and MacBooks will get smaller components.

Additionally, Apple has also approved TSMC’s 6th generation chips for mass production. These chips will be used in upcoming phones.

Apple‘s iPhone 12 Pro series have three rear-cameras along with a LiDAR Scanner. Among them, the ultra-wide lens is responsible for wider shots. We already know that the next iPhones(Tentative: iPhone 13) have started coming under the radar of leaks. Now, Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says their ultra-wide lens will get a significant upgrade.

As reported by MyFixGuide(via GSMArena), Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the iPhone 13 will have four models like the iPhone 12 series. Accordingly, we can expect an iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max. But these names are our guesses and let’s wait for more leaks. He reportedly refers to the next iPhones belonging to H2 of 2021 which has been the case every year(Around Sep-Oct).

Upgrade in ultra-wide

Now, the interesting part is the camera details. He says that the Pro variants of the next iPhone 13 series will likely get an ultra-wide lens with f/1.8 aperture, 6P lens. And Auto Focus feature(AF). Currently, iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max has a 12MP ultra-wide with f/2.4 aperture. But only has FF(Fixed Focus), and a 5P lens.

Basically, P stands for plastic where more than one lens element are combined to offset dispersion. That said, we can expect improvements in ultra-wide features like Deep Fusion, Night Mode, and Lens Correction. Besides, Ming-Chi Kuo expects this lens to make its way to all the models(Tentative: iPhone 14) by 2022.

Furthermore, Taiwan’s Largan Precision Co Ltd. is likely to get about 70% of orders for the upgraded 6P ultra-wide lens on the iPhone 13 series. This is reportedly an upgrade over the 50% orders for iPhone 12 series. Additionally, Largan will also become the new supplier of VCM(Voice Coil Motor) for iPhones from 2021.

iPhone 13 series: Early guesses

Early reports of the iPhone 13 indicate that it will have a 120Hz refresh rate screen. It will reportedly adopt the LTPO(Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) display designed by Apple. Under the hood, it is likely to be powered by the Apple A15 Bionic manufactured by TSMC using a 5nm node. And tipster Jon Prosser has already hinted that future iPhones will have a 1TB storage option.
