Lucid Air Grand Touring Sets New World Record with 1,205 km on Single Charge

Lucid Motors has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric car on a single charge. The Lucid Air Grand Touring traveled 1,205 kilometers from St. Moritz, Switzerland to Munich, Germany without stopping to charge. The drive included alpine roads, highways, and secondary roads. This beats the previous record of 1,045 kilometers set in June 2025 by 160 kilometers.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring is powered by the company’s proprietary electric powertrain. It delivers 831 PS and has a WLTP range of 960 kilometers. It uses as little as 13.5 kWh per 100 kilometers and can reach a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour. The car supports ultra-fast charging, allowing it to add up to 400 kilometers of range in 16 minutes. It seats five and features a spacious interior made from premium materials.

This is the second Guinness World Record involving Lucid and London-based entrepreneur Umit Sabanci. In 2024, Sabanci drove a Lucid Air Grand Touring across nine countries on a single charge, setting the record for most countries visited in a production electric vehicle without recharging.

Sabanci said this new journey builds on that achievement. “When I completed the nine-country trip in 2024, it was just the beginning,” he said. “This new record shows how far electric cars can really go. It’s not just the future. It’s already happening.”

Lucid’s Senior Vice President of Product and Chief Engineer Eric Bach said the record proves Lucid’s lead in EV technology. “Lucid vehicles use less energy and go further than any other EV on the market,” he said.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring is rated at 611 kW, with WLTP-tested ranges between 817 and 960 kilometers. The actual range could vary depending on driving behavior, traffic, road conditions, and weather.

The Lucid Air can Charge Other EVs with the New ‘RangeXchange’ Feature

Lucid Motors is pushing the envelope with its latest innovation—allowing Lucid Air owners to share their car’s battery power with other EVs. The newly introduced “RangeXchange” feature is a glimpse into a more cooperative future for EVs.

RangeXchange is a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging system that enables Lucid Airs to transfer electricity to other electric cars, regardless of the manufacturer, after a simple over-the-air software update. This capability turns the Lucid Air into a mobile charging station capable of delivering enough power for an extra 24 to 40 miles of range to another EV in about an hour.

This system relies on Lucid’s proprietary Wunderbox, a bi-directional charger that until now, was only used for receiving power. With RangeXchange, it steps up to share power as well. Lucid’s Electric Cars may Receive Apple and Amazon Music Support Soon

Lucid Motors, the electric vehicle (EV) maker, might be bringing Apple and Amazon Music straight to its cars. The company has put out a job listing for a Senior Product Manager who will work with Apple, Amazon Music, and other media app partners.

Tesla has a similar feature with direct Apple Music/Spotify/Tidal integration

This means drivers of the Air sedan and the upcoming Gravity SUV might soon be able to play their favorite songs with just the touch of a button. It’s a feature similar to what Tesla offers, with direct integration for Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, and more.

For those who already own a Lucid Air EV, you’ll know it comes with Apple CarPlay, both wired and wireless, as a standard feature. So these new music apps would just add to the options you have for playing music in your car. Tesla owners, on the other hand, have to use Bluetooth or the streaming services we mentioned earlier.

In terms of what you’ll be listening to your music in, Lucid has a range of options. The Air EV starts at $78,900 for the Pure RWD version. This car has a single rear-mounted electric motor that gives you 430 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 124 mph. The 88-kilowatt-hour Long Range battery pack gives you a range of up to 410 miles.

If you’re looking for something a bit more high-end, you might be interested in the Air Sapphire. It’s priced at $249,000 and is powered by a 1,234 hp tri-motor setup. This makes it the most powerful production four-door sedan in history, according to Lucid. It goes from zero to 60 in just 1.89 seconds, with a top speed of 205 mph, beating out the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Lucid Gravity SUV’s Fast Charging and Estimated 500-mile Range could be a Game Changer in the US

Lucid Motors has just dropped a date for its much-anticipated Lucid Gravity SUV, set to make its debut on November 16, 2023, at the LA Auto Show. With the Lucid Air sedan already out since 2021, the company seems to be embracing a nature-themed naming strategy; first “Air” and now “Gravity.”

While the design cues of the Gravity appear to mirror its sedan sibling, the Lucid Air, what really caught our eye was the timing of the Gravity’s production—late 2024. Here’s why it’s a big deal: Lucid has been churning out approximately 1,400-1,500 units of the Air per quarter this year, which isn’t exactly setting the sales charts on fire. The Gravity, being an SUV, is inherently more attractive to consumers, making it a possible savior for Lucid’s moderate sales performance.

Lucid is clearly feeling the heat, though, as evidenced by their special 18-month lease offers on certain trims of the Lucid Air. They’re looking to maintain sales momentum until the Gravity comes along to potentially steal the limelight.

In terms of competition, Lucid Gravity is locking horns with some big players like the Mercedes-Benz EQS, BMW iX, and Rivian R1S. But there’s a twist. Lucid’s trump card might just be the range and fast charging capabilities. The Lucid Air already boasts an impressive EPA range of over 500 miles. If the Gravity even remotely approaches this, it could be a game-changer.

Performance specs are yet to be unveiled, but indications are that it will offer a dual or triple-motor, all-wheel-drive system. Add to that Lucid’s top-notch DC fast charging, and the Gravity could turn heads and open wallets.

However, an important question is, will the charging port be CCS1 or NACS? Given it’s a late 2024 model, it’s speculated to be NACS. That choice could be another distinguishing factor for the Gravity.
