At least one of the models from the Redmi K50 series will be sporting the MediaTek Dimensity 2000 processor (via My Drivers). The upcoming chip will supersede MediaTek’s current flagship – the Dimensity 1200 – and the Redmi K50 will likely be one of the first devices to be powered by it. The other model from the series will feature the Snapdragon 870 SoC.

This isn’t the first time Redmi has opted for a flagship Dimensity processor for its K series though, so it doesn’t come as a surprise. Looking at the lineup’s history, the Redmi K30 Extreme Edition came equipped with the Dimensity 1000 Plus, Redmi K40 Gaming is equipped with Dimensity 1200, and the K50 series will now be equipped with Dimensity 2000.

Coming to the processor itself, the Dimensity 2000 is a flagship unit, which according to benchmark scores will be a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 898 chip. A leak had recently shown a phenomenal AnTuTu score of over a million. For comparison, its predecessor Dimensity 1200 scores around 715,000.

The CPU will be using the same architecture as the Snapdragon 898 and feature 1x 3.0GHz X2 super large core + 3x 2.85GHz large cores + 4x 1.8GHz small cores. It will be paired with a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU.

It is worth noting here that the Redmi K50 model equipped with the Dimensity 2000 will likely be a standard model. The Pro or Pro+ variant is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 898, just like the K40 Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 888.

Also worth mentioning is that the Redmi K50 series will most likely be sold with different names outside of China. Take the Redmi K40, for example, that sells as Poco F3 globally and as Mi 11X in India.

MediaTek has always been an underdog when pitched against competitors like Qualcomm and Samsung, but its new Dimensity series of 5G chips have changed the game. The company’s CEO recently announced that they’re are now the largest smartphone SoC maker globally, proving its extraordinary growth.

However, MediaTek’s share has been close to nothing in the flagship smartphone segment, thanks to OEMs’ preference for Qualcomm’s solutions. This is likely due to the former’s focus on the budget to mid-range market. But with such success, the Taiwanese chip-maker’s objectives may finally be changing.

Reliable leakster Digital Chat Station today shared the AnTuTu benchmark score of the upcoming flagship processor from MediaTek, and they’re shockingly good – so good in fact that they’ve actually set a new record. The score stands at 1,002,220 and it’s the first time a mobile chip has hit 7 figures. For comparison, the current champ Snapdragon 888 Plus has never gone beyond the 900,000 mark on any device.

The leakster says that the benchmark was run on an upcoming vivo phone, indicating that the device could be the first to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 2000.

Some questions were raised though since the AnTuTu screenshot says that the score couldn’t be verified and that it’s “abnormal.” Digital Chat Station laid them to rest clarifying that the warning messages are normal for benchmarks run on test units.

It remains to be seen if the Mediatek Dimensity 2000 will remain the king of the hill when the Snapdragon 898 and Exynos 2200 are unveiled. But even if it gets beaten, there is no doubt that MediaTek will soon be piercing the flagship smartphone market if this leak isn’t a gimmick.

Noted Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed some key specs of the unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 and MediaTek Dimensity 2000 chipsets which are both premium-grade and flagship offerings from the two chipmakers. We already knew some details about these chips but the new details released further illuminate these very impressive SoCs.

The Snapdragon 898 will have an octa-core CPU consisting of a Cortex-X2-based main core alongside 3x Cortex-A719-based performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz. It also contains energy-efficient Cortex-A510-based cores and the Adreno 730 GPU which will take care of the graphics workload. The Snapdragon 898 will be produced by Samsung via its 4nm process.

The Dimensity 2000 on the other hand, will feature a similar configuration to the Snapdragon 898 but with a considerably higher cluster of the three performance cores clocked at 2.85GHz. It is speculated to have the Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. The MediaTek Dimensity 200 will be based on TSMC’s 4nm process, showing an identical production trajectory as the Snapdragon 898.

There are still some unreleased aspects of both flagship chips, and these will become known as we get closer to the eventual unveiling of the SoCs. One area of interest will be the brands that these chips will debut with.

Rumors have already begun to suggest that next-gen MediaTek Dimensity flagship chipsets will be based on the new ARMv9 architecture. The most recent of these leaks claim that MediaTek could be one of the first companies to place orders with TSMC‘s 4 nm foundries. Dubbed as Dimensity 2000, major specs have been revealed.

As per Digital Chat Station, a frequent leakster, the Dimensity 2000 will feature one Cortex-X2 prime core clocked at 3.0 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four A510 cores. This is much like the setup seen on Snapdragon 898 and the Exynos 2200 that will be based on Samsung‘s 4nm process.

Samsung’s recent tie-up with AMD for GPU and Huawei surrounded by an ocean of difficulties in finding chip makers, the upcoming Dimensity 2000 will be the only chipset to use the new Mali-G710 MC10.

The G710 arrives as the successor of G78 and is set to give a 20% boost in the speeds and 35% better performance for machine learning tasks, according to ARM’s official numbers. However, Samsung on the other hand is expecting it to be around 30% faster than the older Mali chips it used. The actual performance will be dictated by the clock speeds on the two 4 nm nodes.

While there were early benchmarks to give a hint at how fast the upcoming chipsets are going to be but that’s not something to go by. Waiting for devices to arrive with these chipsets will be a wiser option to measure the true speeds. All three chips should be made official at the end of this year or in January. It would have launched by the end of this year but owing to the shortage in the semiconductor industry, plans have been altered. The first ARMv9 phones with the new chips could be out as early as next year.

A new report has revealed interesting details regarding the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 2000 series SoC. Apparently, the chip will arrive with great improvements to power efficiency that would allow it to even best the next gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 processor.

According to a MyDrivers report, the Taiwanese chipmaker is gearing up to launch the new Dimensity 2000 at the end of this year at the soonest or in early 2022. The report adds that the new Dimensity 2000 series 5G chip will be a more efficient as well, consuming much lower power than the Snapdragon 898 SoC. Reportedly, the difference between the two chips will reportedly be around 20 to 25 percent, in favor of the MediaTek processor.

Furthermore, apart from power efficiency, the overall performance of the chip will also be improved as well. The report states that the improvements will be notable enough to make the new Dimensity 2000 chips a great choice for flagship smartphones that will launch next year. As per recent reports, the upcoming chipset will be arrive with a Cortex X2 and Cortex A79 cores while its GPU is based on the Mali G79 architecture.

Notably, the processor will reportedly be built on a 4nm process from TSMC, which enables it to offer better efficiency and performance. Additionally, improvements in technology would also have it offer advanced AI, multimedia IP, and exclusive Dimensity 5G open architecture as well. Apart from Huawei and Samsung that have their own independent chipset foundries, all other mobile phone manufacturers rely mostly on Qualcomm and MediaTek for their chip supplies. Before the 5G era, MediaTek was experiencing some difficulties but since 5G started gaining traction, the Taiwanese fabless chip maker has experienced a rebound.

Between April and now, some of the new smartphones packing a MediaTek SoC includes the OPPO A92s, iQOO Z1, Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro, ZTE AXON 11 SE, Redmi 10X series and many several others. The majority of the models have equipped with a Dimensity series 5G chips.

According to latest media reports, MediaTek will launch a new generation of 5G flagship mobile platform under the Dimensity series. The flagship processor will be unveiled in the second quarter of next year. The flagship chipset will reportedly be called Dimensity 2000, taking a cue from the Dimensity 1000 series. However, it will be built on a 5nm process, unlike the Dimensity 1000 series which utilised a 7nm silicon. There will also be a significant improvement in its performance.

At present, MediaTek has successively launched Dimensity 1000 series, Dimensity 800 and 700 series processors, occupying a key position in mid-to-high-end 5G mobile phones market. Just a few days back, the Dimensity 720 chipset was announced. Further, the company is rumoured to be working on the Dimensity 600 series as well as a Dimensity 400 series targeted at entry-level 5G smartphones, enabling cheap 5G phones.
