<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Mi-TV/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi TVs</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-TV/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Redmi TVs</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> in China run MIUI for TV based on Android. Whereas, in international markets, the company uses </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-TV/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Android TV</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. In India, the firm’s televisions also come with </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/PatchWall/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PatchWall</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> launcher, which offers one of the best user experiences on smart TVs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Another difference is that Xiaomi does not show advertisements in global markets. On the other hand, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/27/xiaomi-announces-miui-for-tv-3-0-in-china-here-are-all-the-new-features/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI for TV</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> in China throws ads as soon as the television boots up. Previously, these ads were even unskippable.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Apart from boot advertisements, MIUI for TV also shows other types of ads like banners and pop-ups. These can be frustrating when you are navigating through the UI.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Hence, during a recent </span><a href="https://www.xiaomi.cn/post/30504312"><span style="font-weight: 400">Q&amp;A session</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> held by the Xiaomi TV team, a user asked the company to delete ads from its televisions with discontent. To this, the firm’s execs simply replied that they are working hard to balance advertising and user experience as much as possible for better service.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_336526" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-336526" style="width: 4000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-336526" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition Featured" width="4000" height="2604" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-300x195.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-768x500.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-1024x667.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-696x453.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-1068x695.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-645x420.jpg 645w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-LUX-OLED-Transparent-Edition-Featured-1920x1250.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-336526" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The statement from Xiaomi clearly suggests that it does not have plans to remove ads from its televisions in China for now. Hopefully, the company does not bring these practices to global markets.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi has been always known for its hardware, however, the same cannot be said about its software. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> was one of the best Android skins in the past. But in recent years, its quality has degraded due to bugs, optimizations, advertisements, and slower update delivery.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">With growing international presence and competition, Xiaomi surely needs to up its game in the software department. Fortunately, the company has </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/09/xiaomi-offer-four-years-updates-for-mi-11t-series/"><span style="font-weight: 400">already started working on it</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> by promising three OS updates and four years of security patches for the upcoming Xiaomi 11T series.</span></p>

<h2><strong>MIUI for TV 3.0 Supported Models</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi unveiled </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-12/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> for its smartphones in late April and since then, the company has been updating the eligible devices. Similarly, it now announces MIUI for TV 3.0 but the information regarding supported TV models is bleak. Anyway, we can surely expect the company roll out this new update to the recently launched </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/02/xiaomi-mi-tv-master-series-65-inch-oled-launches-in-china-for-12999-yuan-1840/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi TV Master Series 65-inch OLED</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/26/redmi-smart-tv-x-series-with-premium-features-announced-280/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Redmi TV X series</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>
<h2><strong>MIUI for TV 3.0 Features</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">First and foremost, the new version of MIUI for TV brings changes to animations. Following the footsteps of content-first strategy, the system will continue to recommend movies and series by learning user habits like before with new improved AI algorithm. What’s new is the playback can be now resumed quickly as it slowly converts into the background when stopped instead of exiting the player altogether.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-334042 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MIUI-for-TV-3.0-Animations.gif?x10805" alt="MIUI for TV 3.0 Animations" width="720" height="405" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Further, the iteration of the software brings profile page for different members of the family. The content recommendation will be unique for different profiles based on watching habits. Even, the Kids Mode is now upgraded to support app controls so that parents can supervise what their children watch directly from their smartphones.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Lastly but not least, the Mi Remote app is now more capable than before. Users can download and install apps directly from their smartphones. Also, they can mirror the TV screen to their handset to navigate to control their smart TV with touch inputs. The remote app also includes a gamepad to play games on TV without investing in a separate controller.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Unfortunately, this OS will mostly not make its way to the international markets as Mi TVs sold in these regions come with </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-TV/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Android TV</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, which is must for </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Google/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Google </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">services like Chromecast, Play Store, and Google Assistant.</span></p>
