<p>Motorola began the Android 16 rollout in September, earlier than most of its competitors, and has been gradually expanding the update to more devices since then. The Moto G Stylus 5G (2025) is the latest from the brand to receive the stable Android 16 update, while the Edge 50 is getting the Android 16 beta update.</p>

<p>The stable Android 16 update for the Moto G Stylus 5G (2025) has been <a href="https://www.ytechb.com/android-16-update-for-moto-g-stylus-2025-rolling-out-now/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">spotted</a> rolling out to Total Wireless (sister brand of Verizon) carrier-locked devices with the firmware version <strong>W1VA36.62-12</strong>. The update has a download size of about 1.5GB.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Moto-G-Stylus-5G-2025-Android-16-update.webp?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Moto-G-Stylus-5G-2025-Android-16-update.webp?x44794" alt="Moto G Stylus 5G (2025) Android 16 update" class="wp-image-713212" width="180" height="394" /></figure></div></a></div>

<p>While the 2025 Moto G Stylus is now receiving the Android 16 update, its siblings, Moto G (2025) and Moto G Power (2025), are already enjoying the latest Android OS in the US.</p>

<p>The Motorola Edge 50 is also getting the latest features and improvements via the Android 16 beta update. The update carries the firmware version <strong>W1UW36H.69</strong> and has a download size of about 1.84GB. As <a href="https://www.ytechb.com/motorola-releases-android-16-beta-update-for-edge-50/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reported</a> by Ytechb, the Android 16 beta program for Edge 50 is currently live in Brazil, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), and India.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Motorola-Edge-50-Android-16-beta-update.webp?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Motorola-Edge-50-Android-16-beta-update.webp?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 Android 16 beta update" class="wp-image-713211" width="186" height="395" /></figure></div></a></div>

<p>So, if you have the Edge 50 phone and belong to any of the mentioned regions, you can take part in Motorola’s MFN beta testing program to get early access to the latest features and changes ahead of the public release.</p>

<p>Since Android 16 is a major upgrade, the package size weighs in at a few gigabytes. So, you must ensure that your device has sufficient storage before downloading the update and that it has at least 30% battery before installation.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong>Related:</strong> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/08/android-16-update-is-now-available-for-these-motorola-phones/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">List of Motorola devices getting the Android 16 update</a></p>

<h2>What’s new in Android 16 for Motorola phones?</h2>

<p>The Android 16 update gives Motorola devices a more expressive design, better protection against malicious apps, more transparent background activities, and better compatibility with LE Audio devices.</p>

<p>The major upgrade introduces custom modes in the Settings app, allowing users to create modes tailored to various situations. Also, the Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Driving modes have been moved to Settings &gt; Modes.</p>

<p>Motorola users can now connect to a Wi-Fi network or a hotspot with a single tap, without entering a password. For this, both devices must use the same Google account. The update also includes security enhancements, improved app compatibility, smoother performance, and fixes for known issues.</p>

<p>The Android 16 update improves integration with low-energy audio hearing aids. During a call, users can choose to use your hearing aid’s built-in microphone or your phone’s microphone. They can also adjust the volume of ambient sound captured by the hearing aid’s microphones. This enhances call clarity, especially in noisy environments or when the hearing aid’s battery is running low.</p>

<h2>Motorola Edge 50 vs Edge 50 Fusion: Which offers more value for your money?</h2>

<h3>Design and durability</h3>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 design" class="wp-image-686154" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-design.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Edge 50</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>Both Motorola phones share a premium design aesthetics with curved displays and rounded corners, giving them a sleek and slim appearance. The front looks almost identical, but the Edge 50’s back appears a bit asymmetrical. The vegan leather finish on both phones adds a premium touch and offers a more comfortable grip than traditional glass backs.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 Fusion - design" class="wp-image-686153" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-design.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Edge 50 Fusion</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>While both have a similar design language, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-50/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Edge 50</a> is a step further when it comes to durability. It’s MIL-STD-810H-certified, making it more resistant to challenging conditions.Additionally, the Edge 50 features an aluminium frame, whereas the Edge 50 Fusion has a plastic frame. Both phones are IP68 certified, though.</p>

<h3>Display</h3>

<p>Both smartphones have a nearly 6.7-inch pOLED curved screen with a peak brightness of 1600nits, which ensures good outdoor visibility. The Edge 50 boasts a higher refresh rate of 144Hz (120Hz in Latin America), while the Edge 50 Fusion sticks to 120Hz. The Edge 50 also offers a higher resolution, resulting in crisper and detailed content.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 - curved screen" class="wp-image-686157" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-curved-screen.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The curved screen is a common trait among Edge models and contributes to a slimmer profile, but it can also lead to reflections and accidental touches. That shouldn’t bother much if you&#8217;ve used a curved screen before.</p>

<h3>Camera</h3>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 - camera" class="wp-image-686159" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-camera.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Edge 50 rear camera</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>The Edge 50 features a triple-camera setup on the back, which includes a 50MP OIS-enabled primary sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom. The primary camera captures excellent shots that are vibrant and detailed, particularly when there’s sufficient light around. HDR performance is good, effectively showing details in both darker and lighter areas.</p>

<p>The ultrawide camera on the Motorola Edge 50 isn’t a lot impressive. It generally produces too soft images. However, the third one — telephoto camera — makes this an interesting camera setup on a budget phone. We rarely see this on budget phones, which significantly improves the zoom performance.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 Fusion - camera" class="wp-image-686160" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-Fusion-camera.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Edge 50 Fusion rear camera</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>On the other hand, the Edge 50 Fusion has dual-rear cameras: a 50MP primary shooter and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The photos are quite good for its price, with solid HDR and decent low-light performance. The ultrawide performance is decent, though the shots can sometimes be blurry.</p>

<p>In terms of video, the Edge 50 can shoot 4K videos from all cameras (including the selfie camera), whereas the Edge 50 Fusion supports 4K only from its main camera. The video quality isn’t particularly impressive across all sensors on both phones. The camera app isn’t impressive either. It may take a few seconds to open, and the lens switching also shows noticeable lag.</p>

<h3>Performance and Software</h3>

<p>Both Motorola phones offer smooth everyday performance, but the Edge 50 has a slight edge in terms of CPU and GPU performance, although the gap isn’t massive. So, you’ll likely experience better performance on the Edge 50 with demanding activities like gaming, video rendering, and multitasking.</p>

<p>Take a look at the benchmark result below.</p>

<p><strong>AnTuTu performance</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#e8e9ea"><thead><tr><th></th><th>Moto Edge 50</th><th>Moto Edge 50 Fusion</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>AnTuTu score</td><td>722,133</td><td>631,172</td></tr><tr><td>CPU</td><td>250,766</td><td>211,572</td></tr><tr><td>GPU</td><td>162,656</td><td>130,884</td></tr><tr><td>Memory</td><td>150,446</td><td>134,023</td></tr><tr><td>UX</td><td>158,266</td><td>154,693</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>In AnTuTu benchmarks, the Motorola Edge 50 pulls ahead of the Edge 50 Fusion with a noticeably higher overall score. The Edge 50 delivers better performance across all key areas—CPU, GPU, memory, and UX—indicating it’s the more capable device for multitasking, gaming, and overall responsiveness. The Edge 50, though, isn’t much behind.</p>

<p><strong>Geekbench performance</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#e8e9ea"><thead><tr><th></th><th>Moto Edge 50</th><th>Moto Edge 50 Fusion</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Single core</td><td>1,080</td><td>1,016</td></tr><tr><td>Multi core</td><td>2,965</td><td>2,917</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>In Geekbench tests, both the Motorola Edge 50 and Edge 50 Fusion deliver similar results, but the Edge 50 holds a slight advantage. It scores marginally higher in both single-core and multi-core performance.</p>

<p><strong>3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#e8e9ea"><thead><tr><th></th><th>Moto Edge 50</th><th>Moto Edge 50 Fusion</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>High score</td><td>825</td><td>799</td></tr><tr><td>Low score</td><td>818</td><td>793</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>In the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test, both the Motorola Edge 50 and Edge 50 Fusion show excellent thermal stability, with minimal performance drop under sustained load. The Edge 50 delivers slightly better peak and sustained GPU performance, but the difference is very small.</p>

<p>Motorola promises to offer five major Android updates to the Edge 50 but only three for the Edge 50 Fusion. This means the Edge 50 will receive Android 19 as their final upgrade, but for the Fusion model, Android 17 will be the end of the road. The Edge 50 will also receive an additional year of security updates.</p>

<h3>Battery and Charging</h3>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 - charging" class="wp-image-686162" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-charging.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Both Motorola phones come with a 5,000mAh battery and 68W fast wired charging. The phones easily last for a day on regular usage, and the fast charger gives you hours of use with just a few minutes of plug-in time.</p>

<p>The key difference is that the Edge 50 also supports 15W wireless charging, lacking on the Edge 50 Fusion.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 - wireless charging" class="wp-image-686161" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Motorola-Edge-50-wireless-charging.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2>Motorola Edge 50 vs Edge 50 Fusion: Conclusion</h2>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-50/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola Edge 50</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-50-fusion/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Edge 50 Fusion</a> are both solid mid-range smartphones that deliver excellent value. However, if you want a more premium build, sharper display, better long-term software support, and a more versatile camera setup with telephoto capabilities, the Edge 50 is clearly the better choice. It also offers slightly stronger performance and the added bonus of wireless charging.</p>

<p>However, if you’re looking to save a bit without sacrificing too much, the Edge 50 Fusion still delivers a well-rounded experience with solid performance, attractive design, and good battery life.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola</a> has once again refreshed its popular Edge series with the launch of two new smartphones: the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-50/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola Edge 50</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-50-neo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola Edge 50 Neo</a>. While both devices share some similarities, such as robust MIL-810H certification and IP68 dust and water resistance, they cater to different user preferences in terms of display size, processing power, and camera capabilities. Here’s a detailed comparison of how the Edge 50 Neo differs from the regular Edge 50.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="936" height="641" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 Neo" class="wp-image-650656" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo.jpg 936w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-300x205.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-768x526.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-696x477.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-613x420.jpg 613w" sizes="(max-width: 936px) 100vw, 936px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Display</strong></h3>

<p>The Motorola Edge 50 features a larger 6.67-inch curved pOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and up to 1600 nits peak brightness. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate, providing a highly responsive and smooth display experience. The curved design enhances the phone’s aesthetic appeal, making it feel more premium. The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, ensuring better durability against accidental drops and scratches.</p>

<p>In contrast, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo offers a slightly smaller 6.4-inch flat pOLED display with the same 1.5K resolution, but it’s an LTPO panel capable of adjusting its refresh rate dynamically up to 120Hz, which can help in conserving battery life.</p>

<p>What truly stands out about the Edge 50 Neo’s display is its impressive 3000 nits peak brightness, making it more suited for users who want excellent outdoor visibility, especially under direct sunlight. However, the Neo is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which is not as durable as the Glass 5 used in the Edge 50.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance</strong></h3>

<p>Performance-wise, the Edge 50 is powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition SoC, which is built on a 4nm process. It offers up to 2.5GHz of CPU speed and is paired with an Adreno 644 GPU, making it a more capable option for moderate to heavy tasks, including gaming and multitasking. The phone also comes equipped with a vapor chamber cooling system to ensure optimal thermal management during extended usage.</p>

<p>On the other hand, the Edge 50 Neo is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, also a 4nm chipset. While the performance is still solid and on par with the 7 Gen 1 for day-to-day tasks and casual gaming, it lacks the same high-end gaming optimization and raw power of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 found in the Edge 50. However, for casual users or those who prioritize efficiency and light use, the Dimensity 7300 provides a good balance between performance and battery life.</p>

<h3><strong>Software</strong></h3>

<p>In terms of software, both phones ship with Android 14 out of the box. However, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo stands out by offering 5 OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates, a significant leap over Motorola’s usual update policy. This makes the Edge 50 Neo an attractive option for users looking for long-term software support, ensuring the phone remains updated for years to come.</p>

<p>The Edge 50, in comparison, offers 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates. While adequate for most users, those prioritizing extended software support might prefer the Neo.</p>

<h3><strong>Camera</strong></h3>

<p>The camera setup in both devices is quite similar. The primary rear camera on both phones is a 50MP sensor with the Sony LYT-700C sensor. This camera supports Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which is great for reducing shake in photos and videos. Both phones also feature a 13MP ultra-wide camera with macro capabilities, as well as a 10MP telephoto lens offering up to 30x digital zoom.</p>

<p>On the front, both phones feature a 32MP selfie camera. Both phones support 4K video recording, making it more appealing for those who use the front camera for vlogging or high-resolution video calls.</p>

<h3><strong>Battery and Charging</strong></h3>

<p>The Motorola Edge 50 packs a 5000mAh battery with 68W wired fast charging and support for 15W wireless charging. This larger battery, combined with its Snapdragon chipset, makes it more suitable for power users who need extended battery life throughout the day.</p>

<p>The Edge 50 Neo, on the other hand, comes with a 4310mAh battery, which is smaller but still offers 68W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. This should be more than adequate for users who prefer a lighter, more compact device but still want fast charging capabilities.</p>

<h3><strong>Design and Build</strong></h3>

<p>While both phones share the same MIL-810H certification for durability and IP68 ratings for water and dust resistance, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo is slightly more compact and lightweight. The Edge 50 Neo weighs 171g and has dimensions of 154.1 x 71.2 x 8.1 mm, making it easier to handle for users who prefer smaller phones. The Edge 50, in contrast, weighs 180g and is slightly bulkier at 160.8 x 72.4 x 7.79 mm.</p>

<p>The Edge 50 Neo comes in Nautical Blue, Latte, Grisaille, and Poinciana colors with a vegan leather finish, while the Edge 50 offers Jungle Green and Pantone Peach Fuzz with a similar vegan leather finish, along with a Koala Grey vegan suede variant. The aesthetic choices offer plenty of variety for both phones.</p>

<h3><strong>Pricing</strong></h3>

<p>When it comes to pricing, the Motorola Edge 50 is priced at <a href="https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0DCJ1PH8F?tag=disconatio-21&amp;linkCode=ogi&amp;th=1&amp;psc=1" rel="sponsored nofollow">Rs. 27,999</a> for the single 8GB + 256GB variant. On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo is more budget-friendly, priced at Rs. 23,999 for the same 8GB + 256GB configuration.</p>

<h3><strong>Conclusion</strong></h3>

<p>Ultimately, the choice between the Motorola Edge 50 and the Motorola Edge 50 Neo depends on user priorities. The Edge 50 offers more power, better thermal management, and a larger display, making it ideal for gamers or heavy users.</p>

<p>In contrast, the Edge 50 Neo provides better software support, a brighter display, and a more compact design, catering to those who prefer longevity and portability. Both phones offer a solid overall experience, but they serve slightly different market segments.</p>

Here&#8217;s a detailed comparison to help you decide which phone might be a better fit for you.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-1024x576.webp?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50" class="wp-image-642664" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Display</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones boast large curved pOLED displays but with some key differences. The Edge 50 has a slightly bigger 6.67-inch screen compared to the Edge 40&#8217;s 6.55-inch display. The Edge 50 also boasts a higher resolution (2712 x 1220 pixels) compared to the Edge 40&#8217;s FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution. This translates to sharper visuals and a more immersive viewing experience on the Edge 50.</p>

<p>However, the Edge 40 takes the lead in refresh rate, offering a smooth 144Hz refresh rate compared to the Edge 50&#8217;s 120Hz refresh rate. While both offer a significant improvement over standard 60Hz displays, the difference might be negligible for most users.</p>

<p>Both phones come with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, however, the Edge 50 utilizes the newer Gorilla Glass 5 for potentially better scratch resistance. The Edge 50 also boasts a higher peak brightness of 1900 nits compared to the Edge 40&#8217;s 1200 nits, making it easier to view the display outdoors under bright sunlight.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance</strong></h3>

<p>The Edge 50 packs a punch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition 4nm SoC. This is a newer and potentially more efficient processor compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 6nm processor found in the Edge 40. While both processors can handle everyday tasks and multitasking with ease, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 might offer a slight edge in performance and power efficiency.</p>

<p>Both phones come with 8GB of RAM, which is ample for most users. However, it&#8217;s worth noting that the Edge 50 uses the faster LPDDR5 RAM compared to the LPDDR4X RAM in the Edge 40. This can lead to quicker app loading times and smoother multitasking on the Edge 50.</p>

<p>Both phones offer a single 256GB storage option, but while the Edge 40 features UFS 3.1, the Edge 50 has the older UFS 2.2, which is a downgrade in terms of storage technology.</p>

<h3><strong>Software</strong></h3>

<p>The Edge 50 runs the newer Android 14 operating system, while the Edge 40 comes with Android 13 out of the box. This means the Edge 50 will benefit from the latest features and security updates for a longer period. Motorola promises 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates for both phones, so software support shouldn&#8217;t be a major deciding factor.</p>

<h3><strong>Cameras</strong></h3>

<p>The camera systems on both phones are quite similar, featuring 50MP main sensors with OIS. The Edge 50 is equipped with the Sony LYT-700C sensor, while the Edge 40 uses the OmniVision OV50A sensor.</p>

<p>However, the Edge 50 adds a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom compared to the Edge 40 which lacks a dedicated zoom lens. This gives the Edge 50 an advantage for capturing sharper images at a distance.</p>

<p>Both phones offer a 13MP ultrawide sensor with macro capabilities and a 32MP front-facing camera. Overall, the camera systems are likely to deliver good results in most lighting conditions, with the Edge 50 offering a slight edge with the addition of the telephoto lens.</p>

<iframe loading="lazy" src="https://embeds.beehiiv.com/7eb90650-7442-41c3-92e8-0c32f95fdb2c" data-test-id="beehiiv-embed" width="100%" height="320" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="border-radius: 4px; border: 2px solid #e5e7eb; margin: 0; background-color: transparent;"></iframe>

<h3><strong>Battery</strong></h3>

<p>The Edge 50 packs a larger 5000mAh battery compared to the Edge 40&#8217;s 4400mAh battery. This could translate to longer battery life on the Edge 50. Both phones support the same 68W fast charging, allowing you to quickly top up your battery when needed. Additionally, both phones offer 15W wireless charging for convenience. The Edge 40 supports 5W reverse charging as well.</p>

<h3><strong>Durability and Design</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones have IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance, ensuring protection against spills and splashes. The Edge 50 also features MIL-STD-810H certification, making it more durable and able to withstand extreme conditions such as shocks, vibrations, drops, and temperature fluctuations. Motorola claims the Edge 50 is the world’s slimmest smartphone with this military-grade certification, having passed 16 rigorous durability tests.</p>

<p>Both the Edge 50 and Edge 40 boast sleek designs with a focus on premium materials. The Edge 50 offers a vegan leather finish in Jungle Green and Pantone Peach Fuzz variants, while the Koala Grey option comes with a vegan suede finish. The Edge 40, on the other hand, offers an acrylic back in Eclipse Black and vegan leather options in Nebula Green and Lunar Blue.</p>

<p>While both phones have a similar thickness, the Edge 50 is slightly heavier than the Edge 40. Both devices feature an in-display fingerprint sensor for convenient unlocking.</p>

<h3><strong>Pricing and Availability</strong></h3>

<p>The Motorola Edge 50 is priced at<a href="https://fkrt.co/XJuP5p" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow"> Rs. 27,999 </a>for the 8GB + 256GB variant and will be available from August 8th onwards. The Edge 40, on the other hand, is priced at <a href="https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0C9JHXMPY?tag=disconatio-21&amp;linkCode=ogi&amp;th=1&amp;psc=1" rel="sponsored nofollow">Rs. 26,999</a> for the 8GB + 256GB model and was launched in May 2023.</p>

<h3><strong>Conclusion</strong></h3>

<p>Both the Motorola Edge 50 and Edge 40 are excellent mid-range smartphones that offer a premium design, impressive features, and great value for money. However, if you&#8217;re looking for the latest software, a slightly larger display, and a more versatile camera system, the Edge 50 is of course the better choice.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/motorola/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola</a>&#8216;s Edge lineup has become a labyrinth of ever-so-slightly-different phones, and the recently launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/01/motorola-edge-50-launch-india-specs-price/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Edge 50 </a>and Edge 50 Pro are no exception. Both phones share a lot of DNA — the same big, beautiful pOLED display, and a similar camera system, among other closely matched features.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-vs-Edge-50-Pro.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 vs Edge 50 Pro" class="wp-image-642612" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-vs-Edge-50-Pro.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-vs-Edge-50-Pro-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-vs-Edge-50-Pro-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-vs-Edge-50-Pro-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-vs-Edge-50-Pro-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Despite what their names might suggest, the differences between these two phones are quite subtle. Let&#8217;s take a closer look to help you decide which one might be the better fit for you.</p>

<h3><strong>Display</strong></h3>

<p>In terms of display, there&#8217;s not much difference between the Motorola Edge 50 and the Pro model in most areas. Both feature a 6.7-inch pOLED AMOLED panel with a 1 billion color depth, a resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels, and a 20:9 aspect ratio.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Untitled-1024x717.png?x44794" alt=""/><figcaption>Motorola Edge 50 Pro</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>However, the Edge 50 has a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pro model steps up to a 144Hz display. Both phones support HDR10+ and come with Gorilla Glass protection, but the exact generation of Gorilla Glass on the Pro variant isn&#8217;t specified, while the Edge 50 uses Gorilla Glass 5.</p>

<p>The Pro model offers a higher peak brightness of 2000 nits compared to the Edge 50&#8217;s 1600 nits and is the first smartphone with Pantone-validated colors for more accurate real-world colors and skin tones. However, this should make a very minimal difference in real-life usage.</p>

<h3><strong>Design and Durability</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones share a similar design language, featuring a sleek and modern look with a large display and minimal bezels. The Edge 50 comes in two finishes: vegan leather in the Jungle Green and Peach Fuzz color and vegan suede or PU finish in the Koala Grey color.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Edge 50 Pro, although being a premium option, also features a PU finish in the Moonlight Pearl variant. But Motorola says it is designed by the Italian design house Mazzucchelli 1849 which has a handmade acetate finish. The other two color options, Luze Lavender and Black Beauty come with a vegan leather finish.</p>

<iframe loading="lazy" src="https://embeds.beehiiv.com/7eb90650-7442-41c3-92e8-0c32f95fdb2c" data-test-id="beehiiv-embed" width="100%" height="320" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="border-radius: 4px; border: 2px solid #e5e7eb; margin: 0; background-color: transparent;"></iframe>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136.png?x44794" alt=""/><figcaption>Motorola Edge 50</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Both phones also have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, ensuring protection from splashes and accidental dips.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>One notable feature of the standard Edge 50 is its MIL-STD-810H certification, making it the world&#8217;s slimmest phone with this certification. Measuring just 7.79mm thick and weighing 180 grams, it has passed over 30 tests for extreme conditions, including temperature, moisture, dust, and drops. The Edge 50 Pro, though slightly thicker at 8.2mm and weighing 186 grams, remains a lightweight and convenient option.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance</strong></h3>

<p>Under the hood, both phones are powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 7 series processors. The Edge 50 utilizes the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, while the Pro gets the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. While the Gen 3 offers a slight bump in performance, it&#8217;s unlikely to be a game-changer for everyday tasks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Both phones are paired with 8GB of RAM in their base configurations, though the Pro offers a higher-end 12GB option for those who crave extra multitasking headroom. Storage options are identical across both phones, with 256GB and 512GB configurations available.</p>

<p>On the software front, both devices run the Android 14-based Hello UX interface right out of the box. The OS has all the usual Motorola perks such as Smart Connect, Moto Gestures, Moto Secure with Thinkshield, and Family Spaces, which are consistent across both models.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the Edge 50 Pro comes with a better software update policy with three years of Android OS updates and four years of security patches, compared to two years of Android updates and three years of security patches for the Edge 50.</p>

<h3><strong>Camera</strong></h3>

<p>The Edge 50 features a triple-camera setup: a 50MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The Edge 50 Pro also has a 50MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide sensor, but it upgrades the telephoto lens to a high-resolution 50MP sensor with the same 3x optical zoom.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-Pro-Camera.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-642613" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-Pro-Camera.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-Pro-Camera-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-Pro-Camera-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-Pro-Camera-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Motorola-Edge-50-Pro-Camera-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Motorola Edge 50 Pro camera</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Pro’s high-res telephoto should naturally deliver better portraits, but for wide and ultrawide shots you can expect similar results. Both phones also offer similar rear video recording capabilities, topping out at 4K at 30fps. For selfies, the Edge 50 features a 32MP lens, while the Pro model boasts a 50MP camera.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>Battery and Others</strong></h3>

<p>Despite its slim size, the Edge 50 has a bigger battery than the Pro model. It packs a 5000mAh cell compared to 4500mAh on the 50 Pro. However, the latter redeems itself with considerably faster charging support.</p>

<p>It supports 125W wired charging, which Motorola claims can juice up the phone to 100% in just 18 minutes. The Edge 50 offers a more modest 68W wired charging solution. They also support wireless charging, with the Pro model reaching 50W speeds compared to the Edge 50&#8217;s 15W.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>One notable difference between the Edge 50 and the Edge 50 Pro is that the latter has a USB 3.1 port with DisplayPort 1.4 support which allows for faster data transfer and high-resolution video output to external displays. In contrast, the Edge 50 uses a USB 2.0 port and does not support video output via USB.</p>

<p>Apart from this, the two models are quite similar. Both feature Wi-Fi 6E support, in-display fingerprint sensors, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, and NFC.</p>

<h3><strong>Price and Verdict&nbsp;</strong></h3>

<p>The Motorola Edge 50 is priced at <a href="https://fkrt.co/h9Md2q" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Rs 27,999</a> for the 8GB/256GB model, while the Edge 50 Pro starts at<a href="https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0D37QVHYJ?tag=disconatio-21&amp;linkCode=ogi&amp;th=1&amp;psc=1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow"> Rs 31,999</a> for the same storage configuration. The higher cost of the Pro model is because of its higher refresh rate display, high-res telephoto lens, slightly better processor, faster wired and wireless charging, and a superior USB port.</p>

<p>If these improvements are important to you, the Edge 50 Pro could be worth the extra cost. However, if you&#8217;re looking for the best value without compromising on core performance, the Edge 50 is a no-brainer better deal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Below is a quick recap of the specifications in the table:</p>

Let’s walk through its specs, features, and price for the Indian market.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Motorola Edge 50 Specifications</strong></h2>

<p>The Edge 50 is built around a 6.67-inch pOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,900 nits peak brightness HDR10+ support, and SGS Blue Light Reduction certification.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There’s also support for Smart Water Touch technology, letting you use the phone even with wet hands, and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone itself has an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and water.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="856" height="889" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Edge 50 Launch Specs Price India" class="wp-image-641277" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136.png 856w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136-289x300.png 289w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136-768x798.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136-696x723.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-25-154136-404x420.png 404w" sizes="(max-width: 856px) 100vw, 856px" /></figure></div>

New renders of the Edge 50 have appeared via 91mobiles, following leaks of the Edge 50 Neo. Described as the world&#8217;s <a href="https://gizmochina.com/2024/07/24/motorola-teases-slimmest-mil-std810-certified-smartphone-india/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">slimmest MIL-810-certified phone</a>, the device is expected to launch soon via Flipkart.</p>

<p>While specific details about the Edge 50&#8217;s internals remain scarce, the device is expected to offer a pOLED panel with a 120Hz display. Under the hood, the device is expected to come with a Dimensity 7300 chipset. For optics, its triple-camera setup could comprise of a 50MP main sensor, while the front of the device could offer a 32MP selfie snapper.</p>

<p>The tradeoff of having a slim design could be a smaller 4,400mAh capacity battery, which will likely be paired with 68W fast charging. More details are expected to emerge in the coming days, so stay tuned.</p>

<p>In related news, Motorola has started <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/20/motorola-razr-50-ultra-goes-on-sale-india/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">selling the Razr 50 Ultra smartphone in India</a> after its launch earlier this month. <p>Software-wise, expect Android 14 with Motorola&#8217;s Hello UI on top. NFC support for contactless payments and likely WiFi 6 connectivity are also on the table.</p>

<p>The phone&#8217;s design and official launch date are still a mystery. However, with certifications piling up, a July release seems like a possibility. To give you a better idea of what you can expect from the Motorola Edge 50, here are the specifications of its predecessor.</p>

<h2>Motorola Edge 40 specs:</h2>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-edge-40/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola Edge 40</a>, released in May last year, boasts a 6.55-inch P-OLED curved-edge display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It features an under-display fingerprint scanner and runs on Android 13 OS. The device includes a 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens that doubles as a macro shooter.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Motorola-Edge-40-1024x576-1.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-635354" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Motorola-Edge-40-1024x576-1.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Motorola-Edge-40-1024x576-1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Motorola-Edge-40-1024x576-1-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Motorola-Edge-40-1024x576-1-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Motorola-Edge-40-1024x576-1-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Powered by the Dimensity 8020 chipset, the Edge 40 comes with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and a 4,400mAh battery supporting 68W wired and 15W wireless charging. Additional features include 256 GB of internal storage, dual stereo speakers, Ready For support, and an IP68-rated chassis.</p>

<p>We can expect the Edge 50 to come with upgraded camera sensors and a more powerful processor than the Dimensity 8020.
