Better than never, I guess.</h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;">I&#8217;ve had the Meizu MX5 for a month already and used it interchangeably with other phones. During this period of time I received like 5 software updates that improved a lot of things and this review is based on the latest and greatest UI version from Meizu.</h6>

<h1 style="text-align: justify;">Meizu MX5 Review: CONCLUSIONS</h1>
<div style="text-align: justify;"></div>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;">So there you have it, affordable yet stylish all-metal Meizu MX5. It has a great design and outstanding build quality except for those a bit wobbling buttons.</h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;"></h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;">The phone has a well implemented UI, which gets better and better with constant software updates, great performance, quite an impressive camera, great battery life and a fantastic fingerprint scanner.</h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;"></h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;">That doesn’t mean the phone excellent, though. The display is good but the viewing angles are not excellent due to a small reflection, which leads to a bit washed out colours if you look from an extreme angle. But… I’m being bloody picky here.</h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;"></h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;">Also, the lack of microSD card slot makes the 16GB model obsolete for heavy users and I honestly don’t understand why manufacturers keep producing devices with such a low amount of storage. Just give us a microSD card slot! Of course, you can opt in for a 32GB or even 64GB models.</h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;"></h6>
<h6 style="text-align: justify;">All in all, for under $350 unlocked you are getting a great device. While it is not perfect but it is definitely a great buy for the price despite a few shortcomings.</h6>
<div style="text-align: justify;"></div>

Later, we came to know courtesy of VP Li Nan, that the company had dropped plans for Meizu MX4 which usually is released in the late second half of the year. Instead, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/05/meizu-working-on-a-high-end-glass-metal-flagship-for-second-half-launch/">company was reportedly working on a super high-end device</a> which will replace the MX5 Pro lineup. Now, it looks like we have some details about this device.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/b24398dca98abbf.jpg_600x600.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-56366" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/b24398dca98abbf.jpg_600x600.jpg?x10805" alt="b24398dca98abbf.jpg_600x600" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/b24398dca98abbf.jpg_600x600.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/b24398dca98abbf.jpg_600x600-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The new Meizu flagship is reportedly called as the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus. Yes, it a weird name and unlike what Li Nan said, it comes with the MX5 Pro name tag. We think, this could be the old name of the handset and the company will call it something different when it launches later this year.</p>
<p>Looks wise, it similar to the MX5 flagship, only a bit larger. As for the specs, the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus is said to come with a 2K 6-inch display, which makes it even larger than <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/03/04/meizu-mx4-pro-gets-official-price-cut-listed-oppomart-just-399/">MX4 Pro</a>. Like earlier rumors, the phone is said to come with the powerful Exynos 7420 chip that powers the Galaxy Note 5 along with 4GB of RAM. At the back, the MX5 Pro Plus is expected to feature a Sony 20.7MP camera.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/mx5-pro-plus.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-56367" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/mx5-pro-plus.jpg?x10805" alt="mx5 pro plus" width="338" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/mx5-pro-plus.jpg 338w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/mx5-pro-plus-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/mx5-pro-plus-237x420.jpg 237w" sizes="(max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px" /></a></p>
<p>In case you are wondering about the MX5 Pro Plus release date, then expect it only by November. The company has the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/11/heres-our-first-look-at-flyme-5-0-coming-in-september/">Flyme 5.0 launch event sometime late September </a>and after that you can expect to see this powerful flagship. Of course, the information comes from Weibo and we can&#8217;t be entirely sure of the specs or the design of the device shown in pictures. So make sure that you take this news with a pinch of salt.</p>

In that article, we had also said that the company was going to focus on a true high-end flagship. Now, it looks like we have some initial information about that device.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/meizu-high-end-flagship.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-55642" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/meizu-high-end-flagship.jpg?x10805" alt="meizu high-end flagship" width="515" height="241" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/meizu-high-end-flagship.jpg 515w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/meizu-high-end-flagship-300x140.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 515px) 100vw, 515px" /></a></p>
<p>Early morning today, a new leak said that <em><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Meziu was working on a high-end flagship with a glass + metal body</span></strong></em>. It also said that the company will launch this new phone in the second half of this year. Remember, VP Li Nan had said that he couldn&#8217;t say for sure when they would release this new device? Well, now we have some idea. Also, at that time he added that although the device was under development already, usually a product requires around 8 month of development time till it can be finally released in the market. We hope that Meizu gets enough development time to unveil the new flagship this year itself, as all other major launches are already over.</p>
<p>Another interesting piece of information from this new leak is the possible pricing. It is said that the new<em> <strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">Meizu flagship could retail for more than 3000 Yuan</span></strong></em>, which will be much more than the company&#8217;s traditional pricing. So, even if the phone is high-end, we will have to wait and see if customers are willing to shell out such an amount for a Meizu device.</p>
<p>What do you think? Will you spend more than 3000 Yuan ($483) for a capable high-end Meizu device?</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>This time around we have some fresh leaked photos, which show the device&#8217;s metal shell. It confirms the possibility that the Meizu MX5 will be made out of metal, which should give the premium look and feel as well as extra sturdiness.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-51228" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25.png?x10805" alt="Screenshot 2015-06-21 15.20.25" width="878" height="526" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25.png 878w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25-300x180.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25-701x420.png 701w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25-640x383.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.25-681x408.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 878px) 100vw, 878px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>What is more, we can clearly see that there is a huge cutout for an oval shaped home button. This implies the fact that the MX5 will boast a fingerprint scanner, which has become a trend among Chinese smartphone manufacturers.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-51229" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39.png?x10805" alt="Screenshot 2015-06-21 15.20.39" width="858" height="1050" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39.png 858w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39-245x300.png 245w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39-837x1024.png 837w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39-343x420.png 343w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39-640x783.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screenshot-2015-06-21-15.20.39-681x833.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 858px) 100vw, 858px" /></a></p>
<p>Moreover, the rumours suggest that the Meizu MX5 will spot some decent specs. It starts will a 5.5-inch 1080p screen. Also, under the hood there will be an octa-core MT6795T chip, clocked at 2.3GHz along with 3GB of RAM. What is more, the storage capacity is not disclosed, but it is said that there will be a microSD card slot, which supports storage expansion up to 128GB.</p>
<p>Finally, the device is said to have a 20MP camera on the back (most likely a Sony sensor) and a 3150mAh battery (non-removable) will be keeping the lights on.</p>
<p>As far as the pricing goes, Meizu is ready to put some more pressure for competitors. The starting price of the Meizu MX5 will be 1799 Yuan (about $290) in China. We will have to wait for the official event to find out when the device will go on sale. Stay tuned to Gizmochina as we will be covering all the news regarding that.</p>

However, at that time, the Chinese certification website had no images of the device.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-49782" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-02.jpg?x10805" alt="mx5 tenaa 02" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-02.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-02-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-02-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Now, 24 hours later, TENAA has uploaded the pictures of the MX5 flagship and the model looks quite close to the renders that we have seen recently. The pictures reveal a all metal design, with a thin body and super slim bezels. You can see that the camera is protruding from the back, which usually is not considered as a good design, but it could be because of the rumored powerful sensor with 4X Optical zoom.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-01.jpg?x10805'><img width="600" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-01.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-01.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-01-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-01-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-03.jpg?x10805'><img width="600" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-03.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-03.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-03-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-tenaa-03-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a>

<p>Another important change is the home button. It looks like the company will continue the tradition of a physical oval shaped home button on its upcoming devices, as this model too has the button. However, being a flagship, it could feature a fingerprint sensor.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-49779" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-01.jpg?x10805" alt="mx5 new 01" width="610" height="364" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-01.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-01-300x179.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Just a few minutes after the MX5 flagship pictures were found on the TENAA  website, we also came across a video which showed off the device in full glory. In fact, the device in the video was exactly the same as the one that we see in the pictures above, further confirming that its the MX5 flagship.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" src="http://player.youku.com/embed/XMTI1NDc3ODcxMg==" width="510" height="498" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You can once again see the all metal body and the super thin design in the video. As for the specs, the phone will reportedly come with an octa-core 2.3GHz chipset and 3GB RAM with 16GB of expandable storage. There will be a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display up front. As for the camera, it is said that there will be a 20MP rear camera along with a 3MP front facing shooter. The rear camera could support up to 4X optical zoom. At the back, finally there will be a 3150mAh battery and it will run on the new Android 5.0 OS based on Flyme 4.5. Earlier today, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/06/03/meizu-mx5-gets-the-national-3c-certification-supports-fast-charging/">same models passed National 3C certification</a> which showed that it will support fast charge too.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-09.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-49778" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-09.jpg?x10805" alt="mx5 new 09" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-09.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-09-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-09-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-10.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-49777" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-10.jpg?x10805" alt="mx5 new 10" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-10.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-10-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/mx5-new-10-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
