Today,<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus"> OnePlus</a> has officially confirmed that it will launch the OnePlus Buds Z2 TWS earphones on December 16 in Europe.</p>
<p>The OnePlus Buds Z2 will be launched on the Instagram platform at 2:30 PM CET. It will arrive in two of its colours &#8211; Black and White.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-430325 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds Z2" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OnePlus-Buds-Z2.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Coming to the specs, the Buds Z2 come in a truly wireless design with a charging case bundled. It does feature a similar design to its predecessor model &#8211; the OnePlus Buds Z. It has an 11mm driver that supports Dolby Atmos audio. It has three mics for noise reduction. It also has support for 40dB Active Noise Cancellation(ANC).</p>
<p>The TWS buds have Bluetooth v5.2 support and are IP55 water and sweat resistant. It has a 38-hour long battery with a charging case which is said to be enough and more than what the competition is offering.</p>
<p>In terms of the pricing, the Buds Z2 is priced at CNY399(~$63) in the Chinese market. That said, we expect the earphones to cost similarly in Europe. However, do remember that the predecessor Buds Z currently sell for EUR 55(~$63) meaning that the newer Buds Z2 should be at least similar or pricier.</p>

Sadly, both the products seem to have caught up in a world of issues of their own. OnePlus Nord has had <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/11/oneplus-nord-latest-network-stability-issue-after-oxygenos-10-5-9/">multiple bugs so far</a> and if numbers are anything to go by, the OnePlus Buds&#8217; issue might turn never-ending.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-333129" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds" width="1920" height="1175" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-300x184.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-768x470.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-1024x627.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-696x426.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-1068x654.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-686x420.jpg 686w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>As reported by Android Police, several uses have taken to OnePlus&#8217; Forums to express what&#8217;s going on with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus-buds">OnePlus Buds</a>. Accordingly, users <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/11/30/oneplus-buds-are-failing-left-and-right/">say</a> that the left earbuds of the OnePlus Buds suddenly stops working. And trying methods like repairing, resetting, disconnecting doesn&#8217;t seem to work.</p>
<p>While some users have got replacement units, a few of them report that the replacement units are also having the same issue. The aforementioned reports indicate that the issue might just be beyond a software bug. Anyway, the thread, which was <a href="https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-buds-left-earbuds-audio-not-working.1302216/">opened</a> way back in September 15, is getting submissions as latest as November.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK</span>: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/20/oneplus-issues-apology-and-explanation-regarding-oneplus-5-5t-delayed-update/">OnePlus issues apology and explanation regarding OnePlus 5/5T delayed update</a></strong></h6>
<h4><strong>Is it a hardware issue?</strong></h4>
<p>Besides, a user on September 30 has reported that the issue could be due to a firmware issue. And that he was able to bring it back on after reconnecting it before noticing it again. Additionally, other users mentioned above felt that the left earbud had its touch, and sensors work despite the audio going kaput.</p>
<p>To top it off, a user has reported to Android Police that it isn&#8217;t a firmware issue. Consequently, a post on the forum <a href="https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-buds-my-experience-whats-going-on.1352011/">mentions</a> that a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> support assistant had a chat with him. That is, after his 2nd replacement unit failed, the assistant goes on to say that it&#8217;s a hardware defect.</p>
<p>In any case, the issue seems to be creeping up for a lot of users and we really hope that OnePlus fixes this or makes an official statement soon. If you are someone who is facing the same issue, do let us know your experience in the comments below.</p>

Its battery is bigger at 4510mAh and along with support for 30W fast wired charging, it also supports 30W fast wireless charging and 3W reverse wireless charging. However, the app is only compatible with select OnePlus phones (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6/">OnePlus 6</a> and up). This means that owners of older <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> phones or non-OnePlus phones who pick up OnePlus TWS earbuds will miss out on these features.</p>
<p>OnePlus has now released a new app called HeyMelody that allows owners of older OnePlus phones or non-OnePlus phones to enjoy some of the aforementioned features including firmware updates.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/heymelody-app-models/'><img width="411" height="743" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App-models.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App-models.jpg 411w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App-models-166x300.jpg 166w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App-models-232x420.jpg 232w" sizes="(max-width: 411px) 100vw, 411px" /></a>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/heymelody-app/'><img width="410" height="740" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="HeyMelody App" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App.jpg 410w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App-166x300.jpg 166w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/HeyMelody-App-233x420.jpg 233w" sizes="(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px" /></a>

<p>The HeyMeldoy app can be installed on any Android device running Android Marshmallow and up. While it is a OnePlus app, it works not only with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-buds/">OnePlus Buds</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/14/oneplus-launches-the-oneplus-buds-z-tws-earbuds-with-10mm-drivers-enc-20hrs-playback/">OnePlus Buds Z</a> but also with the newly-announced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/19/oppo-launches-the-enco-x-tws-earbuds-in-partnership-with-dynaudio-for-%c2%a5999149/">OPPO Enco X</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-enco-w51/">OPPO Enco W51</a> earbuds.</p>
<p>Users will be able to pair their earbuds to their phones using the app, check the battery level of each earbud and charging case, and also receive firmware updates.</p>
<p>The app is still in development and may be unstable but if you are willing to give it a try, you can download it <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.heytap.headset">here</a>.</p>

Now, it seems that the company is gearing up to launch another variant of the same.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://twitter.com/MaxJmb/status/1306255477496582150">latest report indicates</a> that the OnePlus Buds Z earphones could get launched soon. It is also expected to be a bit cheaper compared to the currently available model. Just for the context, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus-buds">OnePlus Buds</a> is available for purchase at a price of $80.</p>
<figure id="attachment_334490" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-334490" style="width: 750px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-334490 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus_Buds_1200.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds" width="750" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus_Buds_1200.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus_Buds_1200-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus_Buds_1200-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus_Buds_1200-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-334490" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus Buds</figcaption></figure>
<p>It makes sense for the OnePlus Buds Z to be cheaper than the original OnePlus given that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/14/oneplus-bullets-wireless-z-brings-fast-charging-to-earbuds-for-just-50/">OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z</a> is also priced cheaper when compared to the Bullets Wireless earphones.</p>
<p>Currently, there&#8217;s no information available about the TWS earphones, including its features, pricing, or availability. However, we expect more details to surface online in the coming weeks as the launch date nears.</p>

At the time, it seemed like the CBP messed up.</p>
<p>However, instead of acknowledging the mistake, the US Borders and Custom Protection has decided not to back down. A US Customs and Border Protection spokesperson <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2020/9/14/21436760/us-customs-statement-oneplus-buds-seized-apple-airpod-trademarks">gave a statement to the Verge</a> ruling out this being a mistake.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-333132 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds" width="1920" height="1220" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7-300x191.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7-768x488.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7-1024x651.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7-696x442.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7-1068x679.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-7-661x420.jpg 661w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>The statement said: <em>&#8220;Upon examining the shipment in question, a CBP import specialist determined that the subject earbuds appeared to violate Apple’s configuration trademark. Apple has configuration trademarks on their brand of earbuds and has recorded those trademarks with CBP. Based on that determination, CBP officers at JFK Airport have seized the shipment under 19 USC 1526 (e).&#8221;</em></p>
<p>It&#8217;s noteworthy that Apple hasn&#8217;t taken any legal action against OenPlus for the OnePlus Buds <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws-earphones">TWS earphones</a> and they are still available for purchase in the United States at several locations without any issue.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> </strong><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/15/huawei-stock-issue-no-plan-b-kirin-chipset/"><strong>Huawei products are now getting out-of-stock; the company doesn’t have Plan B for Kirin chipsets</strong></a></p>
<p>It remains to be seen if CBP will seize future shipments from the company. The US Borders and Custom Protection department hasn&#8217;t revealed why the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> Buds are getting scrutinized months after getting launched and going on sale in the U.S.</p>
<p>OnePlus doesn&#8217;t seem to have violated the trademark of Apple <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-airpods">AirPods</a> and it seems like the company is being targeted just because of being a Chinese brand given that the market is full of earphones that look similar to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> AirPods and nothing is happing to them.</p>
<p>The initial press release announcing the seizure of OnePlus Buds didn&#8217;t mention the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/trademark">trademark</a> infringement but the new statement from the department now says that the reason for seizure is a trademark violation. This clearly shows that CBP is trying to justify its actions instead of acknowledging that it messed up.</p>

<p>Well, it turns out that the department messed up, and the product which they claimed as counterfeit AirPods is actually <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> Buds and the total shipment is worth about $158,000 based on 2,000 units.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The photo of the product and the retail box shared by the US Borders and Custom Protection also reveals that the product in question is actually OnePlus Buds &#8212; the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws-earphones">true-wireless earphones</a> from China-based OnePlus.</p>
<p>Troy Miller, Director of CBP&#8217;s New York Field Operations, said in a press release:<em> &#8220;The interception of these counterfeit earbuds is a direct reflection of the vigilance and commitment to mission success by our CBP Officers daily.&#8221;</em></p>

<p>One thing is quite clear from the images that what they have seized is OnePlus Buds, which is not a knock-off of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> AirPods. The form factor is being used by several companies for the TWS earphones and OnePlus is among them. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/31/oneplus-buds-launched-china/">OnePlus Buds</a> has clear branding and there&#8217;s no way to confuse them as a knock-off of Apple AirPods given that there&#8217;s no Apple branding or trying to pass them off as AirPods.</p>

The Buds are billed to be released on July 27 and this time around, buyers in the US and Canada will be able to pick up the product. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-333129" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds" width="1920" height="1175" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-300x184.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-768x470.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-1024x627.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-696x426.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-1068x654.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-4-686x420.jpg 686w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>The OnePlus Buds seems to have taken inspiration from Apple&#8217;s Airpods and that isn&#8217;t a surprise as a number of hearable devices also took a leaf from the popular AirPods. The Buds are shaped like Earpods but with a stem while the charging case looks like a pack of dental floss. The distinct part of the Buds&#8217; appearance is its exterior, which features the CD-accent also found on OnePlus&#8217; other Bullet headphones.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-333130" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds" width="1920" height="1148" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5-300x179.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5-768x459.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5-1024x612.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5-696x416.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5-1068x639.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-5-702x420.jpg 702w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>The gadget is a portable one with the case measuring 52.2 x 59.6 x 37.9 mm while each bud comes in at 18.8 x 16.1 x 37.9 mm. The case also has a matte finish making sure it won&#8217;t slip easily.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-333131" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1920" height="1259" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-300x197.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-768x504.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-1024x671.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-696x456.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-741x486.jpg 741w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-1068x700.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/oneplus-buds-6-641x420.jpg 641w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>The Buds boast impressive Warp Charging speeds – 10 minutes are enough to get 10 hours worth of listening. That is 10 hours combining the charge inside the buds and their case. The buds themselves get 100 minutes worth of listening in 10 minutes of charging. When fully filled, the buds and the 430 mAh battery in the case offer 30 hours of listening (for comparison, AirPods last 24 hours).</p>

<p>Also, the earbud is equipped with a 13.4 mm dynamic driver as well as Bass Boost and Dolby Atmos options for improved audio output. The buds are IPX4 water-resistant and support Fast Pair. They also offer customizable double-tap and long-press gestures.</p>
<p>The OnePlus Buds carries a retail price of $80 and the White variant will go on sale on July 27. The Gray option will go on sale in August while the Nord Blue variant will only be sold in Europe and India.</p>

<p>A report from <a href="https://9to5google.com/2020/07/19/oneplus-buds-leak-gallery/"><em>9to5Google</em></a> revealed that the OnePlus Buds will be made available in three color options &#8212; White, Blue, and Black. They have even found out a few images of the upcoming TWS Earphones. The rounded case, which resembles the earphones&#8217; color, has an LED indicator for battery or charging status.</p>
<p>The company has already confirmed that the OnePlus Buds will come with a battery life of seven hours on a single charge and up to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/14/oneplus-buds-will-have-a-30-hour-battery-life-appears-in-blue/">30 hours of audio playback</a> with the charging case. It will also have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/16/oneplus-buds-warp-charge-support/">support for Warp Charge</a> fast charging technology which will charge the device for up to 10 hours of usage in just 10 minutes.</p>

<p>The earphones are powered by a 430mAh Lithium-Ion battery and the charging speed will be capped at 5v 1.5A to avoid damage to the battery. It seems that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tws-earphones">TWS earphones</a> from OnePlus won’t come with support for wireless charging support.</p>
<p>OnePlus CEO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pete-lau">Pete Lau</a> has said that the Buds feature a “half-in-ear design” which is aimed at increasing comfort level for the users by reducing the pressure inside the ear. As per the reports, the earphones will come with features like Find My Device, Dolby Atmos support, Touch Controls, and Fast Pairing, among others.</p>
<p>The launch event for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus-nord">OnePlus Nord</a> and OnePlus Buds is just a day away, so we don&#8217;t have to wait much to know its specifications, features, pricing, and availability details.</p>

Now, as the launch date nears, more details about the device are surfacing online.</p>
<p>Recently, it was revealed that the OnePlus Buds will come with a battery life of seven hours on a single charge and up to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/14/oneplus-buds-will-have-a-30-hour-battery-life-appears-in-blue/">30 hours of audio playback</a> with the charging case. Now it has been revealed that it will also support fast charging technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-332355 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds Teaser" width="888" height="499" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser.jpg 888w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Teaser-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 888px) 100vw, 888px" /></p>
<p>In a recent interview by Jay Liu, OnePlus Buds&#8217; Project Manager, he has confirmed that the upcoming TWS earphones will use the company’s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/warp-charge">Warp Charge</a> technology which will charge the device for up to 10 hours of usage in just 10 minutes.</p>
<p>So, comparing this with the charging speed of the Apple AirPods, the OnePlus Buds appears to be faster, at least from the information available right now. Apple AirPods offer five hours of playback time when charged for 15 minutes.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/15/samsung-galaxy-note20-ultra-dynamic-refresh-rate-switching-60hz-120hz/">Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra may feature dynamic refresh rate switching between 60Hz and 120Hz</a></strong></h6>
<p>The earphones are powered by a 430mAh Lithium-Ion battery and the charging speed will be capped at 5v 1.5A to avoid damage to the battery. It is also being reported that fast charging will not need any special cables.</p>
<p>Previously, OnePlus CEO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pete-lau">Pete Lau</a> has revealed that the OnePlus Buds will come with a &#8220;half-in-ear design&#8221; which is aimed at increasing comfort level for the users by reducing the pressure inside the ear.</p>
<p>It seems that the OnePlus Buds won&#8217;t come with support for wireless charging support. Thus, pricing is expected to be affordable. To know for sure what features the earphones packs and how it is priced, we&#8217;ll have to wait for the launch event on 21st July.</p>

Today, Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus has shared a post on the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> Forum site that reveals more details of the TWS earbuds. We also get a first look at the blue variant of the earbuds.</p>
<p>The post first talks about the design of the OnePlus Buds. The company&#8217;s top executive said they have designed the earbuds to be “more than comfortable for long wear”. The TWS earbuds have a “half-in-ear design” to achieve this comfortability.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-332056 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds" width="1080" height="520" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds.png 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-300x144.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-768x370.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-1024x493.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-696x335.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-1068x514.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-872x420.png 872w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>Coming to battery life, the OnePlus Buds will provide up to 7 hours of continuous use. That goes up to 30 hours with the case which can charge the earbuds more than three times before having to recharge it.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Your music lasts longer with <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OnePlusBuds?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#OnePlusBuds</a>. <p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>OnePlus boasts that even with the impressive battery life, the earbuds are “exceedingly light” at 4.6 grams each while the case weighs 36 grams.</p>
<p>Pete says the OnePlus Buds are designed to work with a wide range of devices but OnePlus phones get deeper optimizations; one of which is an ultra-low latency mode similar to that of wired headphones once you enter gaming mode on your OnePlus phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-332055 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-in-Blue-b.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds in Blue" width="778" height="429" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-in-Blue-b.png 778w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-in-Blue-b-300x165.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-in-Blue-b-768x423.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-in-Blue-b-696x385.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-in-Blue-b-762x420.png 762w" sizes="(max-width: 778px) 100vw, 778px" /></p>
<p>We also get a first look at the blue variant of the earbuds thanks to a video just updated by YouTuber, MKBHD. The video is an interview with Carl Pei on the OnePlus Nord, and we see the co-founder wearing a pair of blue TWS earbuds we are pretty sure is the OnePlus Buds.</p>
<p>The earbuds have a stem of average length. As you can see, they are not as short as that of the AirPods Pro. They look pretty good and with the 30-hour battery life mentioned above, it should be a best-seller as long as it is affordable.</p>

<p>The press release sent to us says that the new Bluetooth audio device will “deliver high-quality audio playback and easy-to-use experience on the go”.</p>
<p>The launch of the OnePlus Buds is part of the manufacturer&#8217;s plan to expand its portfolio of products that already includes phones and smart TVs.</p>
<p>Pete Lau, the founder and CEO of OnePlus, said that the earbuds will deliver the right combination of sound quality, seamless connectivity, and easy-to-use experience.</p>
<p>The OnePlus Buds has appeared in multiple leaks over the past couple of months. The last leak revealed the earbuds will come in black and have a closed-fit design. It will be housed in a pebble-like case. Also, just like the OnePlus Nord, the Buds will be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/10/oneplus-buds-tws-teased-by-the-brand-spotted-on-amazon-india-notify-list/">sold by Amazon India</a>.</p>
<p>OnePlus is a bit late to the market with its TWS earbuds. Its competitors such as <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a>, and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> have launched several models already with varying features and price tags. It remains to be seen if the OnePlus Buds can outperform the buds from these brands.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The existence of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OnePlus"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OnePlus </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">truly wireless earphones was first revealed by tipster @MaxJmb on Twitter. In fact, he has been exposing more details about this product since then.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The same person said that it will be called “</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/24/oneplus-tws-earphones-may-launch-as-the-oneplus-buds/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OnePlus Buds</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">” and even </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/29/new-leak-shows-the-oneplus-buds-will-come-in-black-with-a-closed-fit-design/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">shared its design</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Then, a couple of days back, it was also</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/09/oneplus-buds-certified-launch-21-july/"><span style="font-weight: 400;"> spotted on Finnish certification bureau</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> called SGS Fimko.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Having said that, it has been now also spotted on Amazon India’s notify list (<em>via <a href="https://twitter.com/stufflistings/status/1281488765526003713">@stufflistings</a></em>). A few hours before that, OnePlus itself teased the arrival of its first TWS in a <a href="https://twitter.com/oneplus/status/1281483294039658496">tweet</a> saying “What’s next in line?” with an image of its Bullet earphones lineup.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anyway, although OnePlus’ fist truly wireless earphones have leaked multiple times over the past few weeks, we are still unaware of its specifications. But we do expect its official press renders to soon pop-up on the web just like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/09/oneplus-nord-renders-reveals-entire-design-and-no-3-5mm-headphone-jack/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">those of OnePlus Nord</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>

An <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/30/onepluss-tws-earbuds-will-not-launch-alongside-the-oneplus-8-series/">earlier report had claimed</a> that they could get launched with the OnePlus 8 flagship series but that turned out to be just a rumor.</p>
<p>However, new reports indicate that the company is all set to launch its first true wireless earphones on 21st July, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/07/oneplus-nord-july-21-launch-date-confirmed-ar-launch-app-now-live/">alongside the OnePlus Nord</a> smartphone.</p>

<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/08/the-mid-range-oneplus-nord-was-inevitable-and-heres-why/">The mid-range OnePlus Nord was inevitable and Here’s Why!</a></strong></h6>
<p>Now, ahead of the launch, the device has been certified by Finish SGS Fimko agency. The certification reveals the model number of the OnePlus Buds &#8211; E501A and the charging speed of the charging case &#8211; 5V/1.5A or 7.5W.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-331203 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Certified.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus Buds Certified" width="727" height="426" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Certified.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Certified-300x176.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Certified-696x408.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/OnePlus-Buds-Certified-717x420.jpg 717w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></p>
<p>The leaked sketch of the upcoming OnePlus Buds earphones reveals that they look quite similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-airpods-3/">Apple AirPods</a>. They come in a semi-circular case with an LED in front that should come on when charging.</p>
<p>We expect the OnePlus Buds TWS earphones to come with support for touch controls, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google-assistant">Google Assistant</a>, and fast-pairing with OnePlus devices. However, nothing much is known about the earphones at this point in time.</p>
<p>OnePlus already has launched a few audio accessories, all under its &#8220;Bullets&#8221; branding. So far, the company has wired OnePlus Bullets earphones with 3.5mm connector and a USB-C connector, an OnePlus Bullets Wireless and the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/14/oneplus-bullets-wireless-z-brings-fast-charging-to-earbuds-for-just-50/">OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z</a>.</p>

<p>The color isn&#8217;t the only thing new in this image. The design also looks different. <p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> is yet to release an official teaser related to the earbuds, so we are still keeping our fingers crossed on the design. There have also been no leaks of live photos or press renders of the earbuds.</p>

The earbuds should launch in July alongside the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus-z">OnePlus Z</a> mid-range smartphone. A new leak has revealed what is most likely the official name of the earbuds.</p>
<p>The source is from the leaker and graphic designer @maxJmb, the same source that revealed the earbuds <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/15/oneplus-wireless-earphones-with-an-airpods-like-design-tipped-to-launch-in-july/">will launch in July</a>. According to his latest leak, the TWS earbuds will be called “Buds”, so technically, OnePlus Buds. No, no “Bullets” in the name.</p>

<p>The leak includes a sketch of the earbuds which are designed like Apple&#8217;s own AirPods. They come in a round case with an LED in front that should come on when charging. We expect the OnePlus Buds to have support for touch controls, Google Assistant, and fast-pairing with OnePlus devices.</p>
<p>Details such as battery life and price are currently unknown but they should surface in the coming month.</p>
<p>OnePlus has a bunch of Bluetooth earphones, with the latest being the Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z. In the past, it has also launched wired earphones with 3.5mm and USB-C connectors. Maybe, just maybe, we may even see OnePlus launch a pair of wireless over-the-ear headphones in the future.</p>
