It’s a known fact that POCO smartphones run MIUI like Xiaomi (formerly Mi) and Redmi-branded devices. Hence, POCO recruits MIUI testers for its handsets from time to time. The brand has now opened registrations for the recruitment of a fresh batch of testers.

According to an official announcement post on POCO Community, the brand is looking for testers interested in trying out MIUI Stable ROM. These users will be the first to use stable builds before they are rolled out to the general public.

They will be responsible for providing feedback on new software builds. They are expected to point out bugs and offer suggestions. They should be aware of the issues while using beta software and are recommended to have the ability to recover phones in case of any failure.

Most importantly, POCO is only accepting applicants who are at least 18 years of old. This means curious teenagers cannot enroll in the program.

POCO X3 NFC launched with MIUI 12 based on the Android 10 OS out of the box back in September 2020. Months later, the company has finally started rolling out the Android 11 update.

An OTA(Over The Air) update with firmware version V12.0.6.0.RJGEUXM is rolling out to the users of the POCO X3 NFC. Here, the ‘EU’ in the firmware denotes that the update is currently live for the users of the European Economic Area (EEA).

Do note that, POCO X3 NFC also has other versions like Russia(RU),  Indonesia(ID), Turkey(TR), Global(MI), however users in these regions will have to wait till Xiaomi expands the update to other regions. Speaking of which, the update weighs 2.5GB in size and brings the latest Android 11 update to the device.

If you recall, the POCO promised that it would keep updating the device for up to three years which means you are sure to get the next Android 12. As for another MIUI update, Xiaomi recently unveiled the MIUI 12.5 Globally.

It said that flagships like Xiaomi Mi 11 will get the update in the first wave of the rollout. And POCO X3 NFC, which is still on the MIUI 12 after the latest update, could get the intermediate MIUI 12.5 before the year ends.

Talking about the Android 11 rollout in the EU region, the update is still in the ‘Stable beta recovery’ stage meaning only a few users will get it now. After checking that it doesn’t have major bugs, Xiaomi will roll out the update to everyone in the coming days.

That said, this device, which is sold without NFC in countries like India(POCO X3), should also get the Android 11 update very soon.

Besides being so beautiful, Realme 7 Pro is also the only one with an in-display fingerprint reader: the biometric sensor is not side-mounted nor rear-mounted, unlike the POCO X3 NFC and the Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime. This makes the design cleaner and sleeker.

Display

With the POCO X3 NFC, you get a 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10 certification, which are not present on its rivals. The Realme 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime have a standard refresh rate and they lack HDR10, but a lot of people would still prefer them because they offer a Super AMOLED panel instead of an IPS display. This means you can get more brilliant colors and deeper blacks. With the Realme 7 Pro, you even get an in-display fingerprint reader. What would your choice be: a 120 Hz HDR10 IPS display or a Super AMOLED panel with a standard refresh rate and no additional technologies?

Specs & Software

If you want the most advanced processor, you should go for the POCO X3 NFC packing a Snapdragon 732G mobile platform. Realme 7 Pro has a slightly inferior processor, but it offers a higher amount of RAM (up to 8 GB), so it is more suitable for multi-tasking and it has better overall performance in a lot of scenarios. The chipset of the Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime is too weak to compete with the POCO X3 NFC and the Realme 7 Pro. In each case, you get Android 10 out of the box with a highly-customized user interface.

Camera

With these three devices, you get the same main camera on the rear side: what changes are the secondary sensors. And you can get better secondary sensors with the POCO X3 NFC, including a 13 MP ultrawide lens. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime offering an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a pair of 5 MP sensors for depth and macro. With the Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime, you also get a better front camera for selfies.

Battery

POCO X3 NFC and Realme 7 Pro are available globally with prices starting from €250/$290 and €300/$350, respectively. Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime is only available in India with a €190/$220 starting price. My favorite handset of this comparison is the Realme 7 Pro due to its AMOLED display, water-repellent coating, good selfie camera, and 65W fast charging. But some may like the POCO X3 NFC a bit more for the above-mentioned reasons. Samsung Galaxy M31 Prime is a better choice only if battery life is your main concern or if you want to save as much money as possible.

Recently, the Galaxy S20 was revealed to have an unofficial 96 Hz refresh rate option that wasn’t made available by Samsung. The guys at XDA Developers were able to force the device to load the 96 Hz refresh rate which will offer a better battery consumption than 120 Hz. A similar tweak has now come to the POCO X3 which allows you to keep the device locked on 120Hz, thanks to XDA member Slim K.

The POCO X3 as you may recall comes with a 120Hz refresh rate just like its predecessor. However, the drag is that POCO included a software feature known as Dynamic Refresh Rate. This feature intelligently adjusts the display refresh rate as a way to optimize battery usage. Thus, even when the refresh rate is set at full blast 120Hz by the user, the feature still reduces the refresh rate based on scenarios. For instance, the refresh rate will fall down to 60Hz during video streaming and even further down to 50Hz when scrolling through static images. While gaming, it then bumps up to 120Hz. The switch isn’t that smooth as it causes the phone to stutter, albeit momentarily but it is noticeable.

The discovery by XDA Member Slim K allows users to disable Dynamic Refresh Rate, thus unlocking the super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate in all apps. However, to be able to do this, you’ll need to unlock the bootloader and root the phone with Magisk v21.0. Mind you, this voids the warranty the phone has.

We should also point out that keeping the refresh rate permanently hooked on to 120Hz will have a huge toll on battery life. The smartphone comes with a massive 6000mAh battery for the non-NFC version released in India and a 5,160mAh battery for the NFC version so that may not be a big issue.

The new device features a lot of exciting specifications at a much affordable price. Such devices are a delight for the custom development community too as the companies indirectly support third-party development.

It’s just been a few weeks and the root access Poco X3 NFC is already here. The interested users can easily root their Poco X3 NFC units after easily unlocking the bootloader.

Poco X3 NFC Specifications

Unlike Poco X2, the Poco X3 NFC features a single punch hole camera cutout in the display for a better viewing experience. It houses a 6.67-inch full HD+ IPS LCD display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It can bring exemplary gaming experience with a 120Hz refresh rate using Dynamic Switch.

In the camera department, the smartphone comes with a quad-camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 camera sensor for quality photos. Unlock Bootloader of  Poco X3 NFC

Unlocking Poco X3 NFC will allow the user to root the device and install custom MODs and ROMs without any issue. It is advised to follow each step and download the required pre-requisites from the links below.

Pre-Requisites

• Download and Install ADB and Fastboot drivers on PC/MAC.
• Download Xiaomi USB Drivers.
• Download Xiaomi Mi Unlock Tool
• Ensure the phone’s battery is more than 60%
• Backup important data on any external media
• Download the latest TWRP from here.
• Download the latest Magisk manager and install it on your phone.

Steps to install TWRP on Xiaomi Mi A3

Follow the below-mentioned instructions carefully to successfully install TWRP. Before proceeding, please ensure your Xiaomi Mi A3 bootloader is unlocked.

1. Enable Developer Mode by tapping the MIUI version 7 times after heading to the Settings > About Phone.
2. Enable USB Debugging by heading to the Settings>Developer Option and toggle USB Debugging.
3. Bind your Mi Account which means sign in to the Poco device using your Mi account by heading to Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > Add account and device and log in.
4. Connect your smartphone with the PC via USB Cable.
5. Now boot into the Fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power Button for about 10 seconds. You need to release buttons once the Fasstboot appears on the screen.
6. Download and Extract Mi Unlock Tool from the Pre-Requisite section above.
7. Open the Miflash_unlock.exe file from the extracted folder.
8. Now, Login with the same Mi Account that you used on the Poco X3 NFC.
9. It will take some time to verify your smartphone, and will show “Phone Connected.“
10. Now, tap on the “Unlock button” and select “Unlock anyway” when prompted.
11. The unlocking process will start, and you will receive “Unlocked successfully” once completed.
12. Now, Reboot the device, and that’s it!

Root Poco X3 NFC (TWRP)

Make sure you’ve unlocked the bootloader in order to root your Poco X3 NFC.

Pre-Requisites

• Download TWRP Recovery for Poco X3 NFC
• Download Magisk Manager Installer Zip on your phone.

Steps

1. Download and Extract ADB and Fastboot utilities in a folder.
2. Now, Connect your Poco X3 NFC with PC using a USB cable. (Note: If prompted to “Allow USB Debugging” comes then tap OK on your phone.)
3. Open Command Prompt or Powershell by pressing SHIFT + RIGHT-Click in ADB and Fastboot folder.
4. Type the below command to restart the phone.

   adb reboot bootloader

5. Now Flash the TWRP on the recovery partition using the below-mentioned command. (Note: Make sure to replace the twrp-3.4-xx.img name with actual twrp filename.)

   fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.4.x-xx.img

6. That’s it! You have successfully Installed TWRP. Now, we need to install Magisk to gain root access.
7. Reboot into TWRP Recovery by executing the following command. (Or you can press and hold the Power button + Volume Up button to boot into recovery mode.)

   adb reboot recovery

8. Once in TWRP, then select Install>Select Magisk.zip>Swipe to Confirm Flash.
9. Reboot System after installation completes, and enjoy!

POCO X3 NFC made its global debut in Europe in early September. Later, in the same month, a slightly different version of the handset called POCO X3 was unveiled in India. Now, the brand has confirmed to launch the original model in Indonesia on October 15.

The POCO X3 NFC is the successor to POCO X2 launched in the first quarter in India as a rebranded Redmi K30 4G. It is the world’s first smartphone to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset.

Just like its predecessor, it sports a 120Hz refresh rate LCD panel, however, its back is made of polycarbonate. But unlike its forerunner, it is IP53-certified for splash resistant. Also, it comes with a better 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

Further, the POCO X3 NFC is thicker and heavier at 9.4mm and 215g, compared to POCO X2, which measures 8.8mm and weighs 208g respectively. That’s because it has a larger 5,160mAh battery than the 4,500mAh unit present inside the previous model. 

That said, it is not as thick (10.1mm) and heavy (225g) as the Indian POCO X3 that comes with a beefier 6,000mAh battery.

The POCO X3 NFC is sold in two variants – 6GB +64GB  & 6GB +128GB in Europe priced at €229 and €269 respectively. It should cost less in Indonesia when it will launch in the country on October 15.

Smartphones running on MIUI are generally popular in the custom ROM community for various reasons. Mid-range POCO X2, which also runs on MIUI, has loads of custom ROMs. And now, its successor, POCO X3 NFC, has got a first working custom ROM within a month of its release.

The first working ROM, Nitrogen OS for POCO X3 NFC, is compiled by a senior member at XDA, xyyx. The ROM, however, is based on Android 10 and not 11. That said, this is based on AOSP(Android Open Source Project) and is sure to give a near-stock experience to users. Also, the ROM doesn’t contain any bloatware apart from the essential system apps. It doesn’t even include GApps(Google Apps) and you will have to flash it separately. XDA report also says that the ROM contains certain features hand-picked from LineageOS, OmniROM, Dirty Unicorns. If you wondering what these are, they are some of the popular custom ROMs.

That said, early builds of ROMs are sure to contain bugs. And, Nitrogen OS for POCO X3 NFC also has early bugs like broken video recording, inability to set SELinux to Enforcing mode, absence of Double-tap to wake feature. However, on looking at the current update of bugs on the Nitrogen OS XDA page for POCO X3 NFC, the bug section only lists SELinux. Hence, there is a possibility that the updated versions will fix the above bugs.

Other than this, basic features like Wi-Fi, calling, camera is reportedly working fine. You can visit the XDA forum page to download and install the Nitrogen OS ROM on your POCO X3 if interested. Do note that you need a device with bootloader unlocked, and a custom recovery like TWRP installed on the device as a pre-requisite.

Yesterday, POCO announced the POCO X3 smartphone in India. In the global markets, the smartphone is known as POCO X3 NFC. In India, it is simply called POCO X3 as it lacks NFC connectivity. In a recent interview, POCO India General Manager C Manmohan revealed that the removal of the NFC feature allowed the company to offer a larger battery on the Indian version of the POCO X3.

The POCO X3 NFC (global version) has a 5,160mAh battery, whereas the Indian model ships with a 6,000mAh battery. In an interview with 91mobiles, C Manmohan revealed that the company decided to drop the NFC feature on the Indian version because it is not an important feature for the Indian audience. Since UPI and QR code-based payments are more popular than contactless payments through NFC in India, eliminating the feature allowed the firm to offer a 16 percent larger battery on the Indian edition of POCO X3.

The handset comes in Cobalt Blue and Shadow Grey colors.

If you need a better image quality, then you should go for the HDR10 display of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite coming with the AMOLED technology. If you need a smoother viewing experience because you are a gamer or you just like smoothness, choose the POCO X3 NFC, but you will get an inferior image quality. Redmi Note 9 Pro is pretty disappointing since it sports a classic IPS display with a standard refresh rate. Note that Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite has a smaller display than its two opponents (6.47 inches vs 6.67 inches).

Hardware/Software

The most advanced chipset belongs to the POCO X3 NFC: we are talking about the Snapdragon 730G which is actually an upgrade of the Snapdragon 730G found on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite. But there is something to specify: the differences between Snapdragon 730G and 732G are not big, and the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite offers a higher amount of RAM in its most advanced configuration (8 GB vs 6 GB). That is why Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite looks a more interesting choice. We discard the Redmi Note 9 Pro since it comes with a weaker Snapdragon 720G and max 6 GB of RAM. Android 10 is installed out of the box, but only with the POCO X3 NFC you get the MIUI 12 directly.

Camera

With the POCO X3 NFC, you get a slightly better camera experience because it has a better ultrawide sensor with a 13 MP resolution. But its macro camera is inferior with a 2 MP resolution. The differences between the cameras of POCO X3 NFC, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, and Redmi Note 9 Pro are just marginal and in each case, we are talking about midrange camera phones.

Battery

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite provides both the biggest battery and the longest battery life because it features a more efficient and smaller AMOLED display. Right after, despite its smaller battery than POCO X3 NFC, there should be Redmi Note 9 Pro because it comes with a standard refresh rate. But the POCO X3 NFC is still a great battery phone.

Price

POCO X3 NFC carries a starting price of just €229/$270 (€199 for the first day) in the global market and it has the best value for the money. But the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite is my favorite one because of its AMOLED display, more premium design, and a bigger battery. However, you have to spend almost €300/$353 to get it. With the POCO X3 NFC around, there is no reason to buy a Redmi Note 9 Pro with the actual prices ranging between €220/$260 and €230/$270, so you should wait for its price to drop if you are interested in it.

The handset is now up with a starting price of 199 euros in Europe. Soon after the launch event, POCO India General Manager C Manmohan hinted at the arrival of the POCO X3 in India. He also gave out a clue on the pricing of the smartphone.

Manmohan’s tweet states the POCO X3 would be priced at Rs 20,000 (~$272) + taxes in India. If you are experiencing déjà vu, then you aren’t alone. Because these display specs sound exactly the same as that of the newly launched POCO X3. That means, for the first time, a POCO device could be rebranded as a Redmi handset.

POCO took the wraps off the newest member of its family dubbed POCO X3 NFC. The phone is the company’s latest smartphone in the mid-range series and it addresses the biggest complaint of its predecessor- it is no longer a rebadged Redmi model.

This year’s POCO devices were all rebranded Redmi smartphones, but the POCO X3 NFC looks like a brand new model with its resigned camera housing and bold new logo at the back. We have got the POCO X3 NFC in real skin and here are hands-on pictures of the device.

The POCO X3 NFC features a 6.67-inch FHD+ Dot Display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate creates an incredibly smooth and responsive experience superior to most flagships on the market.

The display is also covered with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection while there is a 20MP sensor located inside the tine dot.

At the back, the phone packs a Quad-camera setup but with a redesign from what we saw on the X2. The camera housing now has a rectangular shape with two of the edges curved. The main sensor is a flagship Sony IMX 682 sensor featuring an f/1.89 aperture and 1.6μm 4-in-1 Super Pixel that produces detailed and ultra-clear pictures. Today, POCO held a global unveiling event to unleash the POCO X3 NFC smartphone. It has arrived as the successor for the predecessor POCO X2 phone. The predecessor model was not really a new phone since it came as a rebadged version of the Redmi K30 4G that debuted back in December 2019. The POCO X3 NFC is a brand-new phone that features the Snapdragon 732G which is the most powerful Snapdragon 7-series chipset from Qualcomm. The handset comes with a refreshed front and rear design. The POCO X3 NFC is blessed with features like a 120Hz refresh rate, 64-megapixel quad cameras, and a large-sized battery with rapid charging technology.

POCO X3 specifications and features

Like the POCO X2, the POCO X3 NFC offers users a 6.67-inch full HD+ resolution supporting IPS LCD screen. Instead of the dual punch-hole cutout that was made available on the POCO X2, the X3 has a tiny round-shaped cutout of 3.8mm at the top-center position on the screen to provide users with higher screen space. The POCO X3 NFC’s display supports HDR10, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone listing confirms the presence of Snapdragon 732G with enhanced gaming performance. The latest chipset even packs advanced AI computing capabilities and uses 8nm process technology. Apart from the popular 4G chipset, the device will feature a 5160 mAh battery with 33W fast charging. A 64-megapixel primary camera will be present on the rear side of the smartphone.

There will be two storage variants including 6GB RAM and 64GB storage and another 128GB storage variant with unconfirmed RAM.

According to the previous leaks and rumors, it will feature a 6.67-inch LCD display with a 20MP punch-hole front camera. The display supports Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate toggle for smooth gaming. The fingerprint scanner will be present on the side, doubling as a power key.

POCO announced recently that the POCO X3 NFC will be launched on September 7. Ahead of the launch, a YouTuber has given us a hands-on review video of the device. The video bares all there is to know concerning the design and features of the device. Well, before it was pulled down. However, there are still images of the device grabbed from the video online.

The real-life design of the X3 NFC as spotted on the video by Spanish channel Tecvideos is the same with the renders of the device which appeared online earlier today. From the pictures, we can grab that the OCO X3 NFC won’t be a rebadged Xiaomi phone unlike its predecessor that was a rebranded Redmi phone.

The phone will feature a Qua-camera setup design in an X-formation along with the LED flash. At the front, the X3 NFC will pack a central hole-punch design which houses a 20MP selfie camera. The screen is a 6.67-inch LCD panel with FHD+ resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. There is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel on top the display for protection. The phone also features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded with the power button.

The Snapdragon 732G chipset is expected to power the model paired with 6GB RAM. There is 64GB of internal storage onboard the phone. The main camera is given as a 64MP sensor with f/1.79 aperture and support for 4K video recording at 30 fps. The phone also packs up to 5100mAh battery.

The POCO X3 NFC is expected to be priced around PHP10,990 ($225). It is also said to have a “Premium Version” that may likely retail for up to PHP12,990 ($265).

POCO will be launching the POCO X3 NFC smartphone on Sept. 7. Past reports have revealed that the model number of the POCO X3 NFC is M2007J20CG. A tipster has shared screenshots of the TUV certification of the same model. The certification has revealed that there are two variants of the phone. He also shared a leaked press render of the phone. At the same time, the pricing of the two variants of POCO X3 appeared on a retailer site in the Philippines.

The TUV certification has revealed that M200J720CT is the other model number that belongs to the POCO X3. The certification also reveals support for 33W fast charging. It appears that M2007J20CG and M2007J20CT could be the model numbers of the two variants of that surfaced on the Shopee.com retailer site.

The Technoclast publication that spotted the pricing information on the POCO X3 models was able to find two variants of the phone on Shopee.com. As can be seen in the screenshots shared by the publication, the POCO X3 NFC Standard Version was found with PHP 10,990 (~$126) price tag, whereas the POCO X3 NFC Premium Version was listed with PHP 12,990 (~$268) pricing. The listings of the POCO X3 NFC Standard and Premium Versions are no longer available on the retailer site. The publication could not information on the differences between the two variants.

Chinese publication ITHome has shared a screenshot of the promo image, which has been taken down. The image states that those who participate in the campaign will stand a chance to win the POCO X3 Pro smartphone. The company did not share any details on the specs of the POCO X3 Pro.

The promo image has been replaced by a new one that mentions that the winner will win a POCO X3 NFC phone. It is unclear whether the POCO X3 Pro phone really exists, or it was the moniker was mentioned erroneously.

POCO will be officially launching the POCO X3 smartphone on Sept. 7. It will be equipped with all the new Snapdragon 732G chipset that went official yesterday. Ahead of the launch, the POCO X3 that has a model number of M2007J20CG has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. At the same time, the device also received certification from the Bluetooth SIG authority.

The Geekbench 5 appearance shows that the POCO X3 is powered by a Qualcomm processor that is codenamed as ‘Surya.’ Hence, it appears that the codename belongs to the Snapdragon 732G processor which is officially confirmed to power the POCO X3.

The POCO X3 scored 571 in the single-core test and 1766 in the multi-core test. As can be seen, the SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM and the device is loaded with Android 10 OS. The Bluetooth SIG listing mentions the name of the device as “POCO X3 NFC” and it only confirms the support for Bluetooth 5.1 on the device.

POCO has been teasing the launch of its next smartphone for a while now. This alleged handset has already received multiple certifications so it was certain its official announcement was near. With Qualcomm unveiling the Snapdragon 732G, POCO also shares September 7 as the launch date of its new smartphone – POCO X3 NFC.

The POCO X3 NFC was in news for the last few days with mysterious phone moniker. Then, the brand’s global spokesperson Angus Kai Ho Ng officially confirmed its branding by sharing a camera sample, a picture of the smartphone’s front, a render of the handset’s rear, and charging comparison sheet between Galaxy A71.

Apart from the official teasers, a leak revealed the device’s primary specs and more renders last week. It spilt almost everything about it including then unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon732G chipset, 6.67-inch 120Hz display with 240Hz touch sampling rate, 64MP quad-camera setup, 20MP front camera, 5,160mAh battery, and 33W fast charging.

Only things that are unknown about this upcoming smartphone are its rear camera setup, type of display, and price. As per a deleted tweet by the brand’s executive who was responsible for the above teasers, it may sport an AMOLED panel.
