Design

With its very attractive dual punch-hole display and its premium materials, I think Redmi K30i deserves the design award. It is the only not coming with a waterdrop notch, it has a smaller camera module on the rear side and it has both a glass back and an aluminum frame, just like flagships. On the other hand, Redmi 10X 5G and Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth offer more compact bodies, despite their notches. Redmi 10X 5G is even splash resistant, while its internal rivals do not offer any protection against water.

Display

If you love having the most impressive display quality, then you might prefer the AMOLED display found on both Redmi 10X and Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth, which also comes with the HDR10+ certification. But if you are a gamer, for you it might be better to go for the Redmi K30i because, despite its IPS display, it comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate. With a so high refresh rate, you get a very smooth viewing experience, that is amazing during gaming sessions.

Hardware/Software

The key feature of Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth, Redmi K30i, and Redmi 10X 5G is the presence of 5G connectivity thanks to a 5G integrated modem. It is actually very rare to find it at a so affordable price. Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth and Redmi K30i come with a more powerful chipset: the octa-core Snapdragon 765G. Redmi 10X 5G has a Dimensity 800 by MediaTek, not as amazing as the Snapdragon 765G but still a very nice processor. Note that with the Redmi K30i you only get 6 gigs of RAM and 128 GB of native storage, while Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth goes up to 8 GB paired with 256 GB of internal storage. Android 10 is out of the box on all of these devices with the same MIUI 11 customization.

Camera

The most awesome rear cameras are mounted on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth. It has the same 48 MP main sensor as the Redmi K30i and Redmi 10X 5G, but it includes an 8 MP periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom, unlike its two opponents which do not even feature a telephoto lens. Redmi K30i is superior when it comes to rear cameras, thanks to its dual 20 + 2 MP selfie camera. Redmi 10X 5G is the most disappointing one as it lacks both a telephoto lens and a macro camera.

Battery

On 5G phones battery life is more important compared to 4G phones, that is why battery capacities increased on 2020 devices. With the Redmi 10X 5G, you will most likely achieve a longer battery life in most of the scenarios since it has the biggest battery and the most efficient components. Redmi K30i has a similar battery capacity, but its wider IPS display with a higher refresh rate will likely be more energy-demanding and it will have higher consumption.

Price

You need just €200/$220 to grab a unit of the Redmi 10X 5G, Redmi K30i costs €250/$275 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth starts from €265/$295. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth wins the comparison thanks to its better cameras, the best hardware, and a very nice display, but just by a low margin. Also, note that Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth has a way smaller battery than its rivals. You should go for the Redmi K30i if you do not care about having the best optical zoom and the best image quality, while there is no valid reason to choose the Redmi 10X 5G unless you want a Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth with worse cameras and a bigger battery.

Redmi is gearing to launch a couple of new smartphones in China. The Redmi 10X series will reportedly include Redmi 10X 4G, Redmi 10X 5G and Redmi 10X Pro 5G. Apart from these smartphones, the Chinese firm is also rumored to unveil Redmi K30i 5G smartphone as a watered-down version of the original Redmi K30 5G phone. A report on 91mobiles has revealed the color options and RAM and storage variants of the Redmi K30i 5G.

Past reports have revealed that while the Redmi K30 5G came with a 64-megapixel quad-camera system, the rear camera setup of the Redmi K30i will be pioneered by a 48-megapixel lens. While the Redmi 10X 5G is confirmed to feature the Dimensity 820 chipset, the Redmi K30i is rumored to be driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset. The smartphone is rumored to be priced at 1,799 Yuan (~$253) in China.

Citing information sourced from popular tipster Ishan Agarwal, the publication reported that the Redmi K30i will be arriving with 6 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. The phone is expected to be available in China in color editions like Purple and White. The other details of the Redmi K30i 5G are under wraps.

From the moniker, it appears that it will be a more powerful version of the Redmi K30 5G which debuted in December last year. It will be debuting as the world’s first smartphone with Snapdragon 768 onboard. Apart from this, Redmi is expected to announce three other phones this month.

Redmi General Manager had recently said on Weibo that, “Redmi will have new surprises in May.” The first one is most likely the Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition launching next week. A reliable Chinese tipster recently claimed that the company is also planning to launch at least three more phones such as Redmi 10X 4G, Redmi 9, and a Redmi 5G phone fueled by Dimensity 800 chipset.

The Redmi 10X 4G for China is a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 that was recently announced in European markets. The Redmi 9 moniker is not yet confirmed. Probably, it could be coming as Redmi 10, claims the tipster.

The alleged Redmi 9 seems to Xiaomi Merlin phone that was seen on Geekbench. It had revealed that the phone is powered by Helio G70 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. Contradictory reports have claimed that the Redmi 9 could be coming with Helio G80 SoC.

The Dimensity 800 powered Redmi phone could be the rumored Redmi K30i. Recently, a leaked render of the phone had surfaced online. It could be arriving as the cheapest 5G phone from the brand. The handset is expected to arrive with a 48-megapixel primary camera on its back.

In April, we did not see any new product launch by Redmi in China. However, its parent company Xiaomi announced Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro in Europe alongside Mi Note 10 Lite and Mi Smart Standing Fan 1C.

Now, a post on Weibo by Mr Weibing suggests something different will be unveiled by the end of May in the brand’s home country. Speculations say it could be long-rumoured Redmi Note device with 5G connectivity.

Xiaomi’s plans for affordable 5G smartphones

Late last year, Xiaomi’s founder Lei Jun said 999 Yuan ($141) 5G phone will be a real thing by 2021. Further, an internal document leak from last month also suggested such a handset will be launched by the company before the end of this year.

The document also hinted the release of 1,799 Yuan ($254) Redmi K30i and another mystery 5G phone priced at 1,599 Yuan ($225). We believe Lu Weibing is teasing the latter phone to be a surprise since according to the document, it will be launched in June. Hence, announcing it a month prior is a possibility just like the Redmi K30 5G in December 2019.

In fact, if it is true, we might see a couple of 5G-ready Redmi Note devices as two mysterious handsets were recently spotted on 3C certification. The only information we know about these devices is their model numbers and charging speeds – M2004J7AC (22.5W) and M2004J7BC (33W).

Also, there’s another handset called Redmi 10X, which was too found on 3C listing a few days back.

Anyway, the Redmi K30i is also yet to launch officially although its release was supposed to happen in April according to the leaked document. So it is possible the surprise teased by Redmi’s general manager for May could be this device instead.

However, the above-discussed phones, especially the 5G Redmi Notes could be the stars of the launch event as the executive announced Redmi Note 8 series to sell over 30 million units globally earlier today.

The handset is dubbed as Redmi K30i and as the name suggests, it is expected to arrive as a “Lite” version of the Redmi K30 5G. A leaked render of the smartphone has appeared on SlashLeaks to reveal its front and rear design. The Redmi K30i render listing is no longer available on leaked news aggregating platform.

The first Redmi 5G phone i.e. the Redmi K30 5G that debuted in December 2019 came with a dual punch-hole screen. The render of the Redmi K30i phone reveals that it will have a single punch-hole on its display. The phone seems to be fitted with an IPS LCD panel, but its size is not known yet. Like the Redmi K30 5G, the K30i appears to be equipped with a side-facing fingerprint reader.

Moving on to the backside of the Redmi K30i, it has a circular ring surrounding the rear cameras like the K30 5G phone. However, instead of the quad camera setup, it includes a vertical strip with three cameras and an LED flash. The text imprinted inside the circular ring reveals that the device is equipped with a primary lens of 48-megapixel. The Redmi K30 5G has a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 lens lead its quad camera setup.

The rumor mill is yet to spill information on the specifications of the Redmi K30i. Since it is expected to be priced under the Redmi K30 5G, it may not feature the Snapdragon 765G SoC. It is speculated that the Redmi K30i may arrive in China with a pricing of around 1,799 Yuan (~$254).

The authenticity of the Redmi K30i render could not be confirmed. Since it could be a fan-made image, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know more about the K30i.

Despite the recent pandemic, it seems that Xiaomi and Redmi are still going ahead with smartphone launches. The Chinese tech giant is apparently looking to further expand its Redmi K30 lineup, which consists of the Redmi K30, Redmi K30 5G, Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom. The Redmi K30i is the latest that is rumored to join the series but will basically be the entry level, being even cheaper than the base 4G variant of the K30.

Unfortunately, finer details regarding the device is currently unknown, but Xiaomishka did share certain information regarding the K30i as well. According to a tweet shared, the Redmi K30i will essentially serve as the “Lite” variant, and will thus feature a 48 megapixel primary rear sensor over the 64 megapixel one found on the K30 5G. We can expect other specs to see a small cut as well, to reduce the overall costs.

Speaking of cost, it is also rumored that the Redmi K30i will launch for a price of around 1,799 Yuan (this roughly translates to about 254 US Dollars). At the moment, other internals are still at large but other rumors have pointed at MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 SoC replacing the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. This will allow the device to be cheap but still support 5G networking.
