Earlier today (18th May 2020), Redmi announced that the upcoming Redmi 10X series will be the first in the company’s X lineup of smartphone and will be announced on 26th May 2020. And now, a senior official of Xiaomi has also confirmed that the device will be the first to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 820 5G SoC.

Lu Weibing, Xiaomi President and Redmi General Manager, confirmed today that the Redmi 10X series will feature MediaTek’s latest budget 5G chipset. The Dimensity 820 SoC was also announced earlier today and even scored 415,672 in AnTuTu benchmarking software. This score is quite impressive considering that a score over 400,000 is in line with Qualcomm’s 2019 flagship chip, the Snapdragon 855.

For those unaware, the Dimensity 820 processor is based on a 7nm process. It is an octa core chip which features MediaTek’s latest APU 3.0 alongside an integrated 5G modem. The chip has four high performance cores ARM Cortex A76 clocked at 2.6GHz and four power efficient Cortex A55 clocked at 2GHz. For graphics, a Mali-G57 MC5 is housed while the 5G modem supports 5G + 5G SIM dual standby along with SA and NSA dual mode 5G.
