Xiaomi starts seeding Android 10-based MIUI 11 beta stable to the Redmi Note 7

Less than a month after we reported that Xiaomi has started pushing the Android 10-based MIUI 11 update to the Redmi Note 7 users in China, the company has announced same for users in India. The company announced via a thread on the Mi Community forum that the MIUI 11 beta stable update based on Android 10 has been pushed to selected users in India.

The update which was delivered via OTA ushers in the MIUI 11 IN Beta Stable V11.0.2.0 QFGINXM version. Since it is a stable build, releasing it as a beta means the company is testing the build if there are still bugs. The push is likely to users who were selected for the Redmi Note 7 beta program and they will be required to share their feedback. If there are no issues with the build, a full rollout is expected in India within a week or even less. However, the rollout will be halted should bug or any other complaint emerges from users who received the update.

The changelog has not been released and a link to download the update isn’t available. Those who got the update are not allowed to share a download link or even the changelog. However, the post did indicate that the build ushers in Android 10 and it should bring all the Android 10 features that are already in the open such as system-wide dark mode and improved always-on display functionality. It also brings along new animations, themes, wallpapers and improved notification system among others. We also expect the update to deliver the latest Android security patch.

Redmi Note 7 to be available via open sale in India from today

A couple of months ago, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 smartphone in the Indian market, making it one of the best offerings in its price range. Till now, the phone was available for purchase through flash sales, which isn’t anyone’s favorite method.

Now, the company has announced that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 will be available for purchase in India through the open sale in India. The phones will be available for purchase through Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home Stores across the country.

As for the pricing, the phone is priced at Rs. 9,999 (approximately $141) for the 3GB RAM model while the 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 11,999 (approximately $169). The smartphone comes in three color options – Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue.

Coming to the features, the Redmi Note 7 flaunts a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ “dot notch” display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 409ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz and coupled with Adreno 512 GPU.

The phone comes in two variants — 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM. The 3GB RAM model has 32GB internal storage while the 4GB RAM model comes with 64GB internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot for expanding the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB.

Coming to the camera department, the smartphone features a dual camera setup on the back, however, the Indian variant has a different camera configuration than the one launched in China. It consists of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with support for PDAF, Super Night Mode, EIS, Portrait Mode, AI Scene Recognition, and HDR.

On the front side, the device features a 13-megapixel sensor with AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, HDR, and AI Scene Recognition. The phone runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 operating system out-of-the-box. The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 teaser page hints at Flipkart exclusivity in India

After launching the Redmi Note 7 as the brand’s first smartphone since separating Redmi into an independent entity from Xiaomi, the Chinese company is now all set to launch the Redmi Note 7 in the Indian market.

Xiaomi has already confirmed that the smartphone will be launched in India on 28th February. Now, a landing page is live on Flipkart with a hashtag #JustHere, which hints that the phone will be exclusively available for purchase on Flipkart at the time of launch.

The company is building up hype around the smartphone ahead of its launch by teasing features and holding contests. In one of such contests, an image shared by the company seems to have revealed that the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 7 will pack in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Redmi Note 7 smartphone was first launched in China last month and has already sold over a million units. It comes with a premium glass body and a massive screen-to-body ratio thanks to the waterdrop notch display.

The phone features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display carries support for 450-nits brightness, 1,500:1 contrast ratio, sun legibility, and eye protection mode.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. It also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot allowing users to expand the storage capacity.

The device comes with an f/1.8 aperture 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary camera with artificial intelligence technology. On the front side, there’s a 13-megapixel camera housed in the display notch. It is also equipped with features like AI Smart Beauty and AI face unlock.

The Redmi Note 7 comes with with a 3.5mm audio jack and features an infrared blaster which makes it possible to use it as a remote control. A fingerprint scanner resides of the backside of the smartphone. As for the software, the smartphone is running Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out-of-the-box.

The phone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology. With an 18W fast charger, which needs to be purchased separately, the phone can be fully charged in just 1 hour and 43 minutes.

In India, the smartphone will be available for purchase in three color options — Twilight Gold, Fantasy Blue, and Bright Black. As for the pricing and availability details, we’ll have to wait for the company to officially launch the phone in India.

Redmi Note 7 with 48MP primary camera teased to launch in India soon

Redmi, the newly independent brand of Xiaomi, launched the Redmi Note 7 smartphone earlier this month in China. The phone has been well-received in China as it sold out within minutes in all three flash sales.

Now, it seems that the Redmi Note 7 is ready to make its debut in India as the company has teased the launch of Redmi Note 7 in India through its official Twitter account. The tweet contains text upside down, accompanied by a photo of Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain and Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun holding the Redmi Note 7.

While the launch date of the phone in India is not yet known, it is expected to launch next month. Earlier, we reported that the company is planning to launch Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi Go smartphones in India by the end of March this year.
