The Redmi K30 5G that debuted in December featured the Snapdragon 765G mobile platform. The new SD768 that powers the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition is an overclocked version of the SD765G that comes with faster CPU and GPU. The only difference between the Redmi K30 5G and the Racing Edition is the processor and the new Mint colorway. The other specs of the Racing Edition are identical with Redmi K30 5G.

The Redmi K30 5G Racing has a Full HD+ 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel with a pill-shaped cutout for 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual selfie camera setup. The back panel of the phone has a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 5-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera system.

The Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition is backed by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. It has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and it comes pre-installed with MIUI 11 based Android 10 OS. Its other features include 5G support, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, USB-C, and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition is the first smartphone in the world to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G. The processor is currently the most powerful mid range chip from Qualcomm and is an overclocked version of the SD765G. The processor is built on a 7nm EUV process and is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition features a 6.67 inch 120Hz display with a dual punch hole selfie camera on the front with an aspect ratio of 20:9. To keep up with the moniker, chipmakers like Qualcomm and MediaTek have also started offering technology (chipsets) catering to this particular category. Now, Qualcomm has just unveiled its new Snapdragon 768G processor, which is an overclocked version of an existing mid range mobile processor.

While many OEMs tend to add features specifically to improve gameplay, more vendors are now opting for smartphones with faster chipsets than regular ones in their category. Examples of this can be seen in the flagship level, as in the case of SD855 and SD855+, or even mid range, like with the current launch of SD768G after the SD765G.

The Snapdragon 768G brings various improvements to the table over its predecessors. The chipset now boasts a higher boost clock on its Prime Core from 2.4GHz to 2.8GHz. This arrives alongside the boosted Adreno 620 GPU, which is said to have up to 15 percent better performance. Notably, these improvement margins are similar to the 20 percent performance bump the older SD765G saw over its base SD765 variant.

Redmi has released a new teaser video for its upcoming Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition smartphone that is scheduled to debut at 2 PM (local time) in China. The launch poster that the company had released last week had revealed that the Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition phone will be sporting a dual punch-hole display like the Redmi K30 5G that debuted in December 2019 in China. The latest video teaser gives a glimpse of the rear side of the smartphone.

The teaser video reveals that the rear design of the Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition will be also similar to the Redmi K30 5G. It seems to be equipped with a vertical quad-camera strip with a circular pattern around it. The JD listing of the smartphone has revealed that the phone will be equipped with a 64-megapixel quad camera setup.

The Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition will be arriving in China as the world’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 768. The SoC is expected to be an enhanced version of the Snapdragon 765G that fuels the Redmi K30 5G.

Today, Redmi confirmed through Weibo that it will be unveiling the Redmi K30 5G Extreme Edition on May 11. Probably, it could be the actual name of the rumored Redmi K30i.
